I bought this tablet for about 1 months, but I noticed continuous and frequent crashes, resolved only by rebooting, when playing streaming video. It's very maddening, almost every time I want to see a video the tablet crashes and I have to reset it, it happens 2 or 3 times before being able to watch the video This also happens to you or is that just my nerd? I also find it absurd that in the package there is no the USB adapter to connect it to PC, then saw that it is virtually impossible to find in any store. At least they could do the exit with an ordinary micro usb instead of a hard to find micro usb / a? What do you think?

The micro usb is common as in the Android scene. Is it not a micro B not the square edged micro A. Its the same for Android phones, the cable I use costs USD1of EBAY including shipping halfway across the world and works perfectly in all my android devices. Same with OTG adapters USD1 of EBAY and work a treat, even synced my PS3 controller using the cheap OTG. As for the crashing, prob best to go see Sony and get a replacement, sounds like you got a dud unit. Rel 2A so Italy or Germany then...... lol

Since I update from HC to ICS, all file manager app connected to my Synology NAS no longer supports streaming anymore but keep crashing. Moreover, its Wifi signal can easily be interferenced by othdr 2.4Ghz device. Unluckily current version does not support 40Hz channel width resulting max transmission throughput to 65Mbps and not support 5Ghz for smooth video streaming experience. hope the next version Sony can note these to prevent disappointment.

Any of the accessories that use Samsung's 30-pin connector (like on the original Tab, and every single Tab since then) will work. There is no HDMI adapter specific to any particular moel (the 7.7 included) so they'll all work with each other. I got mine off of Amazon.
P.S. It's awesome.
The problem is that it requires external power to attach to this adapter.
This is a deal breaker for me.
I am still in search of a single HDMI adapter without the need for a power supply. I need things to be minimal.
My Playbook can connect straight to the 1080p TV and can output 1080p signal to the TV using a single simple HDMI cable. Even though the 7.7 uses a propriety 30-pin cable, I hope that some company/or Samsung, can create a simple HDMI cable to watch 1080p movies on a TV.

AFAIK, at this point, no such thing exists. Honestly though, the external power requirement isn't as bad as you might think, especially if your TV has a USB port (which, most do nowadays).
Connecting to non HD TV
I purchased the Samsung TV Out Cable Model:ECCI TP0BBECSTD, Ver. 6.0 to connect to a non HD TV but nothing appears on the screen, I tried it on all the AV channels to no avail, I tried it on another TV, still no joy. I purchased my Galaxy Tab from Hong Kong and wondered if this has any thing to do with my connection problem. I have the Samsung HDMI cable any it works fine. I would be very grateful for any advice on this matter. Thank you.

Would someone be able to confirm if MHL is supported on the 7.7 through the micro usb socket as well as the 30 pin connector? I cant seem to find a definitive answer.

Oh my bad, assumed it had one for some reason! Thanks
So will a 30-pin to micro USB adapter which then connects to the micro USB to hdmi adapter work???
Also is the original 7" dock working fine???

Could someone tell me, which pins are used on MHL 30pin connector? I connected galaxy S2 MHL adapter to 1,7,17,18,19 pins, but it's not working.
I've had the official Samsung MHL adapter for a few weeks now. But just recently a problem has developed. Basically WiFi no longer works when the adapter is attached. For instance I can watch Netflix through the phone, then connect it to the TV and it'll stop. I've also tested surfing, disconnected from the TV I can surf fine. But as soon as I connect the adapter nothing loads. The WiFi symbol is still visible and connected, but it won't give me any data.
As I said this wasn't a problem until very recently. I could watch Netflix on my TV through the same phone (on three different TV's). Now on the same TV's it won't work. I haven't changed the phones firmware/OS or any settings AFAIR. Also everything being used is an official Samsung product (including the power adapter in case anyone's wondering).
EDIT: Tested mobile internet (3G) and it still works with the adapter connected. But when I tried to turn WiFi back on it won't connect until I disconnected the adapter.
EDIT2: I tried just plugging in the adapter with the plug in but without having it connected to the TV, WiFi then works normally. Its only when the HDMI cable is plugged into the TV that the problem occurs. I also went into WiFi settings on my phone and noticed it was stopping at "authentication". So I disabled security on my router temporarily and then WiFi connected with everything plugged in, but still no data, web pages still won't load. This is quite baffling.
It happened to me too. Actually, I bought two identical MHL adapters (same brand, same model...) from brando workshop. With one the condition occurred. With the other one, no wifi problem at all. At that time, I assumed it was a faulty MHL cable and didn't care. But considering that you suffered from the same symptoms, I believe that further investigation would be nice. At this moment, I have no clue on what could be causing this weird behavior. Hope more people can contribute on this...

I'm having the same issue, though with a brand new generic MHL adapter...
All my searching points to using nothing but samsung MHL adapters and power bricks being a possible solution.
Also Samsung's only suggestions are wifi dropout is normal and to use samsung adapters only...
IMO this is bull****, MHL is a STANDARD now, if I have a device that meets said standard it should function without issue.
How would you feel if you bought a samsung laptop and the USB ports only work right with samsung mice and keyboards even though they advertise standard USB ports...
Also I find it odd how I've managed to get pandora to stream music while I have my MHL cable connected some times, yet others data drops completely.
It seems more likely to drop out completely when my SGS II is decoding video+audio rather than just video.
Also, on the rare occasion where my data connection doesn't drop 100% it slows down massively, going from 2meg down to .2 meg down right after plugging in the MHL adapter.
I've tried multiple power sources too, from wallbricks, to desktop computers, to my macbook running on its battery to just an external USB battery pack. So I'm pretty sure it not a power noise issue...
Seems to me that Samsung needs to work on some software fixes...
Higher mA plugged into the MHL adapter may help. If you're only plugging it into usb (which I believe only outputs 500 mA), that could be your issue. I don't have any issues when using the AC adapter out of the box.

You change the channel on your wireless router. Every router is different. Depends on what kind you have. Google how to do it for whatever model you have.

I've done, changed channel in wifi setting, and It's Solved , THanks so much
same but different...
I'm having similar sort of symptoms, but I can't quite isolate if its the same problem or not. It definitely wasn't cured by changing wifi channel unfortunately :/
Here's the deal:
I use ps3 media server on my pc to stream to devices around the house. The SG2 (i9100) is rooted, but standard rom and mostly stock. I have been using bubbleupnp as a client for ps3MS and either Vplayer or Dice Player as the video player. ALthough lately its been a bit stuttery, overall it works and plays either saved mp4 videos, downloaded music vids and stuff just fine.
I have a generic MHL adapter and a hdmi to dvi cable that I use to connect to a spare PC monitor. I plugged some spare PC speakers in the headphone socket and was prepared for viewing heaven.
The monitor mirrors the phone screen fine. I can browse the PS3MS fine and select music and it will play fine. If I play a movie off the SD card (internal or external) again its all good... clearly I don't have the wifi stopping when the mhl is connected....until... drum roll and thunder....
I select a movie to play over the bubbleupnp, then it all turns to custard...kinda, basically the phone either stops and thinks for a while, then returns to the directory tree in bubbleupnp, or just sits there on the loading screen. Dice player definately takes longer to decide its not going to do anything than vplayer, but the results the same. Every now and then I get a network error, but not all the time. Sometimes when it returns to bubble, I find that the PS3MS can't be detected either, which usually takes either a few minutes wait or a restart of the phone...
Anyway, would really appreciate any thoughts and advice. While I've found plenty of threads about mhl problems, they seem to be all or nothing. This one seemed the closest to my problem. At the moment I'm a bit unsure what part of the setup is causing the problem; it definitely seems to be something to do with how it all fits together.
I've searched for problems specific to bubble and mhl, or bubble and ps3media server and all seem ok, or at least other people have them working...
Thanks.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. The usual microUSB / female USB cables, as used with a lot of other smartphones, doesn't work with the atrix, our phone needs an external power outlet to be able to work with USB devices. You can either use the multimedia Dock or a 'custom' cable, I saw some time ago in youtube a tutorial teaching how to make a custom one, or maybe you can find it in ebay (not sure, never looked for it, to be sincere).

the cable you are talking about is called udb otg ( on the go), switch the phone's usb port into host mode.. only drawback is that atrix can't supply power to the usb, you must use an external power source for the devicr attached

I managed to use my atrix with the lapdock for around a month while I sourced a new digitizer and it worked great. I would recommend that you find a work and play kit second hand as I often use the webtop for watching on-demand tv and someone is working on a full resolution xbmc port that would work great with the remote. You might also be able to use the usb host ports to mount a fat32 hd as a media drive. The atrix can work really well without its digitizer.

I too am interested in this as I have an Atrix 4G with a broken screen. I was thinking about buying a device like the Roku or the MK802. I guess I could just get the Motorola Entertainment Center from Amazon.
Is there a ROM that would be best for the purpose of using the Atrix as a TV only device.
I posted a tutorial in general for using hdmi and tablet mode with the backlight for the digitizer off. This might give you ideas for using the hdmi port with or without your favorite hdmi enabled Moto dock.

Sorry for the probably dumb question, but I m completeley new on this!
I m planning to buy a mini pc cause I cant find a similarly priced tablet with decent connectivity to work on tv...
The reason I m asking is because i plan to use the mini pc as a download server too, so I need it to work even if the tv it will be attached on is closed (or just sleeping):cyclops:
Yes, if they have an external power supply. Some are powered through the USB port on the TV but that isn't advisable anyway. I have my TV on a timer and the droid running 24/7 running a slideshow and the radio so when I come home there's something pretty on the wall and some music to get me. Downloading should be fine if you have the storage space, so make sure you get a model with at least a full sized USB port. I use a mk809iv and am well pleased with the performance, for instance when streaming live TV over Wi-Fi.

Just curious if the G5 supports wired-display-out since the G5 still has features that competitors have dropped. Supposedly the G4 still had it despite competitors giving up on it, but USB Type C supports display, so USB Type-C to HDMI converters and adapters are a thing.
Just curious if G5 kept wired display-out since the G5 also kept the removable battery and IR blaster.
I too am curious about this. I've been hoping that since the G5 is able to send 3D video to the 360 VR that it would also support standard hdmi as well, but that may or may not be the case.
It bugs me that phones seem to be dropping wired video out options in favor of wireless/chromecast. I mean I like the chromecast and all, but I'd still like the option of a wired dock - Windows phones with Continuum sound pretty cool - and I'm still hopeful we'll be able to do something similar with Ubuntu on our phones someday, but the disappearance of wired options for video out concerns me in this regard. I know wireless is the future, but I don't like losing wired as a fallback option.

I believe the VR unit connects thru it too, so as that is 2 screens, it makes sense.
Can't find many (any?) Usb-c to HDMI adapters. Would a micro-usb adapter do with a cheap microusb-c converter?

Looks like it does, but there's at least some output lag; it's not perfectly in-sync between phone and HDMI tv. That will be a little disappointing.

I use a device called a netgear ptv 3000. It is used as a Mira cast device. Well, it used to be called Mira cast on phones. Now it's called screen sharing. I think it's actually been called screen sharing since KitKat or lollipop. Either way, I've used this with a Nexus 4, Nexus 5, g2, note 5, and the g5. The latency is bad on the note 5, but almost prefect with the other phones. It will display anything you have on your phone to the TV wirelessly. You just plug it in to the HDMI and a power outlet, activate screen sharing on the G5 and you're good to go. A negative side is that you can't put your phone to sleep so it could kill the battery faster. A way to prolong the battery is by putting the brightness all the way down on the screen of the phone. It won't effect the brightness on the TV. One last thing, when you first get the ptv3000. Be sure to update the device before you try and use it or it won't work. The udate is necessary. There's instructions on how to do update in the box. I got mine for around $40 a couple years back. Hope this helps. Peace.

in fact, that VR device gets its video stream just via that type-c...no problem with that, what a waste if LG give it a type c but only functioning like a microusb port.
I can confirm too that the apple macbookair lead works. USB c to HDMI.
Thanks for suggesting it. Now I just need to find a way of powering/charging it whilst using the lead
