Judging by your Bio you're from Australia, in your region you are best to stick to the i9300T radios because of the frequencies in your country.
In saying that, the LH1 radio might work just fine, generally the idea with modems is what's good for me might be crap for you and vice-versa.
Basically YMMV.

UK and I lose 70% of signal .
So modem is not for all phones.
You can try the modem yourself.

Agree 100%, I get way worse signal on LH1

What would be considered a good modem for in the US?
That's one thing I haven't came across yet in the S3 i9300 threads, a threads featuring different modems? I came from the epic4g, being able to just throw one in with Odin.

switched from paranoid ROM to Omega And my Wifi signal dropped 2 bars. IM in the same location as before so I don't understand the problem.
I know some would say just move the router nearer but I don't have that luxury because IM feeding off a neighbor.

Hey all.
I have a problem on sgs3.
Wifi reception in this is very less compared to my laptop. I sit In my garden and can use wifi on laptop very efficiently but there is weak signal in galaxy.. I is the range is less or wifi or there's a problem.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
A laptop receiver has a lot more power to work with.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Yep, I won't expect S3 to have same wifi reception with laptop. So far I have no issues with it in S3.
My other cellphones and psp has more range than it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
For me is opposite. Wifi range is superb.

Don't worry about bricking your device, from my point of view the benefits of custom roms far outweigh the risks. I've never had a problem so far! Atm I use Blackstar 2.1 with a pretty good wifi reception.

When I exchange to the one s, I'm obviously restoring back to stock via Odin but there is no way of resetting flash count. Would this cause an issue with t-mobile? This phone has way too many connection issues and the one s when I had it for a few days did awesome, unfortunately I jumped on the band wagon.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
try return it and see...i have not have troulbe with connection, must be that specific phone or your area
Definitely not my area. Had the one s for a few days and reception was insanely strong. Bought the phone from customer care over the phone.

Would a specific Rom cause issues? I just flashed back to stock and it seems more stable.

Still going strong on stock Rom factory restored. I still have about 13 days to decide.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Sacrifice signal strength for better hardware, its how it works. Get the crappiest flip phone in the world and it will have good signal strength if that's all you care about in a phone.
They're not going to check the counter. I can assure you.
How is gsm3 better hardware it's almost identical to the one s minus the screen and sd card and removable battery. I'm not bashing, I have the gs3 in my hands.

Hello, I was hoping if I could get some help on slow data speed issue. I'm currently in Baltimore, Maryland area on AT&T unlimited LTE plan using "pta" APN setting. I see people reporting averaging around 5~8mbps on hspa+ but I'm not able to go above 2mbps. Most of the time it's 1~1.5mbps and it's so frustrating.
I'm pretty sure I have the right settings, but I'm not sure why I get such a crappy data speed? Any ideas? Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thank you!

You CAN try switching modems.. but the most reliable thing you should do is to contact your service op for this
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
It depends, have you rooted?
I would do as above suggested by contacting you service provider.
However modem switch is quite easy. Not sure exactly what modem would work best in your area. But it cannot hurt to try and if it does not work out switch back...

I remember there was a thread with all the S3 modem listed... Now I can't seem to find it, anyone know?

thanks for the reply. thats the same one that im using at the moment but the back of my phone keeps heating up when im using mobile data. im wondering is there a different modem that would work on mobilicity?
Heat is normal for me under data usage. Every phone does that.
For the modems, just keep trying different ones until you find the one that works best for you. There is no 100% guaranteed to work modem for everyone. Good luck

I'm wrong! Lol thank you for posting Shane. So now it basically narrows down for the best modem that works for you.
There might be a Wind/Mobilicity thread around here somewhere. Wish you luck

Im with wind and use the telus modem which gets wicked speed. When using a cm based rom yhere is no need to tweak but if using a TW based rom do this trick, go into dial pad and input *#2263# then chose wcdma then pick 850 band, exit out and then go back in again via *#2263# and pick auto, wait a few secs and run a speed test. Mine hits around 2500 to 3000 which kill my hd2 at 1600 to 2000
