Just Got My Neo MT15i Today! I have ordered it from ebay since its not available in india. so no official warranty!!! only dealer's warranty which is difficult to take. so i'm very afraid of getting it bricked. i dont wanna kill my phone...i've read some stories here where people updated their neo from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 and it died. so which is the safest way to update to 2.3.4?
My neo is fresh....on 2.3.3....& not rooted and with locked bootloader. reply soon!

Download PC COMPANION or use OTA and enjoy the new update because you have a new phone
P.S.In case that you brick your phone with other procedure here you have all the suport you need so don't be afraid and Good luck
Or via Wotanserver fast and easy, can't go wrong i guess

no! it says yoy must use the pc for the new update!!!
I guess you can spare 50 mins of your life and update using PC companion, rather than unlock the bootloader without knowing the consequences of it.

Hi, I will have SE Xperia Neo V, and I have 2 questions:
1. Root - I update my phone SEUS and I want to root my xperia. How to do it? am looking for an easy way.
2. OC - I wanted to speed up the phone using OC and Smartass v2. How is the easiest way to upload?
In both cases I will not unblock the bootloader! Must stay stock rom and kernel, only OC and root will be in my phone.
Please help me.
Sorry for english, google translator help me
Make your life better and unlock bootloader
About rooting we have many noob tutorials.
OC you get only with unlocked bootloader.

Very simple... Yes !! But the final ICS is not out yet only beta for unlocked bl.
edit: but why you are starting a new topic?? You can ask this in general thread because there is a general chat for qeustions etc, so its simpler and you get the same answers there

Yes. Unlocking and relocking giving you OFFICAL updates.
And with OTA, SEUS and PC Companion I will be can update after relock?
And I will be update Neo V to official 4.0 and and it is important to me
I recommend use Flashtool!!
:/
No, only SEUS, OTA, PC Companion, official ICS will be first in this, in flashtool later...
!
So, I will be can update my phone via PC Companion, SEUS and OTA after relock bootloader? I use Sony Ericsson official method.

To be honest not sure about ota but pc comp. and seus will work. ota should work 99%.
locked or unlocked your still going to get it but probably before with unlocked boot loader because carrers will still need to push update not that's what's going to take the time

Maybe he, or someone else, will have more questions about root and OC
And hopefully next user will find it and post it here if it's related to OP's question, instead opening new thread.

Dear XDA members,
i received a sony xps from my provider (T-mobile Holland) it was branded.
After a while i began to root and ****, but a couple weeks a go i flashed just an offical 0.73 NL with no brand, and via pccompanion i updated to ics.
right now i am not sure if i relocked the bootloader, this is important for me cuz i want to send it to sony becouse off the yellow tint issue.
i made some printscreen about some info of my sony xps.
Question 1 : is my boodloader locked or not if you dont know how can i check it if it realy is locked
Question 2 : Can i get in trouble for my warranty becouse i changed to branded fw to an unbranded fw wich is just official but is unbranded.
guyzzz please let me know
1.Yes your bootloader is unlocked
2. It is stated on the Sony site that unlocking bootloader may void your warranty.
If you are not sure just try to repair it via pcc,if it's successful that's means its locked or flash the ftf file that re-LOCK it.

hmm after i updated 0.73 to ics via pcc i flashed the relock ftf but as you can see my phone says bootloader unlock allowed (yes) how can i lock this bootloader to make use of my warranty .. right now its frustrating im realy sorry for that

He did.
!= mean that something is not equal, like Allowed!=unlocked means that unlocked is not the same as allowed.
Omg. Noobs. This! And then = means NOT EQUAL.
For example Roses!=Violets, because roses are red and violets are blue... LOL. Hope it helps.
Anyway, it's part of programming, we start thinking that people understand those crazy signs.

as i mentioned before just give me a simple statement if i can send my device for repair yes or no ? if not how can i fix it in order to send it for repair without anny problems.
If you lock it again you will still see that BL unlock allowed =yes
As i say before use the ftf to lock it then use pcc to repair it and send it for fixing.

I have a rooted Xperia S with unlocked bootloader, by following instructions on this thread.
Today I received a notification about OTA update to 6.1.A.2.45 (40MB in size) and I was wondering if I can apply this update without loosing root. I really did search for an answer on the forum before making this post and couldn't find anything specific for my phone, but what I did found only confused me more, which is to be expected since I am a noob. Apparently it worked for some users of Xperia Play with unlocked bootloader, but on the other hand some users of Xperia Arc S say that bootloader should be locked when making an OTA update.
I would really appreciate any help from more experienced members, I'm new in Android and don't want to start by bricking my phone.
Thank you for your time and effort.
Boom
better dont, you will end up with a bricked device. NEVER accept OTA updates if your bootloader is unlocked.
Don't update with PCC when you're unlocked.
Wow, that was fast! Thank you guys.
hi, did you find how to update?

i also have an open bootloader although not root, but i tried updating using the phone's OTA and PCC and neither worked. I promptly realized it might just be the open bootloader which is keeping me from updating, so how do we manually update? if you have any procedures will highly appreciate anyone..... thanks in advance

You can find your regions FW. (firmware) and download it, after that download and install flashtool, and flash the .ftf file via flashtool and that is it.
thanks for the quick reply

Im going to engage in a rather noobish conversation but i want to be completely sure before i proceed to install. my phone and my pc companion both find the update which is 6.1.a.2.45, which i assume is the one i need to find on .ftf. after downloading it from wherever i find it i just open the flash tool program and select it to start the installation? and again thank you

they have some firmwares there, but they seem to be full updates, because they are 300+mb while the update on my phone its only 40mb.
so should i just download the generic and proceed to flash?

Hmmm,
Slightly different scenario here.
I have a rooted xperia S with a locked bootloader and obviously want to preserve root.
Previous experience tells me that a PC update from SEUS does a full wipe of the phone and looses root however OTA updates usually preserve root. I was hoping somebody could clarify if this is still the case?
Thanks
if your bootloaders unlocked you cant update ota or via seus. it will just give an error about your device being modified

there is a rom somewhere in another forum i guess which already is updated and rooted. so you might want to just download that one and flash it. it has its own kernel and recovery.

I've not been on much recently at all so I could be wrong, but I'm sure it's been said that you can flash ROM such as the linked one when bootloader is locked and perhaps the pre-rooted one too. May need to search the thread.
Nothing out there that allows me to root my Xperia S on ICS without wiping my data though I think. One can wait... or dream. :[

Yeah having too wipe at this point is a bummer. If I'm going to wipe my phone ill wait for the ability to unlock my locked bootloader.
Problem with that is I will most likely have a new phone by then.

I was looking in this forum something similar but didn't find anything, so I started this topic. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL HELP ME :crying:

You can flash official ICS .ftf on orange locked bootloader phones using flashtool just fine. I did it a few months ago when I still had locked BL (unlocked it later thanks to WotanServer). I wouldn't recommend updating your phone to ICS if you're a gamer. ICS from sony is a bit slow and honestly I think it's better to stay on GB when you've got locked BL.
