wtf does a bootloader do anyway? Is it safe to not have it? O.O
whoever says we don't have bootloader must check first that we do have one.. but samsung don't lock bootloaders like others do ..
thats why sammy devices are easily hackable for roots and other things..
your pc can't boot without bootloader and same is case with phones if i am not wrong
My friend got se xperia neo v, and unlocking its bootloader is a pain in the arse. Se do provide official way to unlock it, but after doing it the official way the warranty is void forever, no way to revert back and relock the bootloader. Eventho got unofficial hack way, its risky and can hard brick the device in a blimp. From my experience helping him unlock the damn thing bootloader, i'm glad my first android device is from samsung, and i think my next will be samsung too

madman_amit. Your'e not wrong ;p but i think when someone has bought ace from some carriers like Orange or T-Mobile, they have locked bootloaders. I dont know if i am wrong , but someone from other forum said that ) BUT if i have good memory, i remember that my friend wrote me on gg( polish messeneger like MSN) that he have installed three roms on his phone at the same time o.o i could ask him for that ^^

Hello All,
i have the GT-I9300 Europe version, rooted, JB 4.1.1
i would be happy to know how to unlock the device boot-loader since i didn't find any good or useful guide
i even heard that the Samsung have already an unlocked boot-loader - i don't think it's true.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer.
if so, how can i check if my boot loader is indeed unlock?
Since early 2011 Samsung has only had unlocked bootloaders with the exception when a provider demanded it (like Verizon).
So yours is UNLOCKED.

1) The bootloader is not locked. Your post is based on rubbish and could potentially brick an international s3. Please only post things you understand, not dangerous nonsense like this.
2) "dis" and "ur" are not proper words. The language of this forum is English and you have a responsibility to use real words. Sure, you may use less-than-perfect grammar and punctuation but at least try to spell words properly if you want to be taken seriously*
*also depends on 1).

is SHW-M440S bootloader unlockd ?
Hello everyone..
After using ics in my xperia u, I felt its pretty laggy...
So im thinking of unlocking the bootloader..my only doubt is whether after unlocking the bootloader, I completely lose warranty or not..
Does relocking the bootloader restore the warranty or not?..ive seen that for unlocking bootloader, a code is needed which involves provision of Imei no., so does sony store the details in their servers about which phone's bootloader has been unlocked?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers..:good:
If you unlocked your bootloader, your warranty completely gone. If you know how to relock your bootloader back, then your warranty will restore back if the Sony service centre does not know you unlock bootloader.... unlocking boot loader needs your imei number so they can give you the bootloader code... sorry, my explanation very messy!!! Hope you understand it!!!

I guess this is relevant...
I unlocked the bootloader of my Xperia Neo in order to install custom roms / kernels. Later I noticed that my screen had some objects burnt in it (most likely due to excess heat).
I reverted to stock firmware, relocked the bootloader and sent the phone for warranty repair. They replaced the screen and the touch panel, no questions asked.
In my case, there were no problems with the warranty despite the previously unlocked bootloader. Note that the situation might not be the same for you (different problem, repair staff etc).
In other words, there is a chance that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty of your phone. It is up to you to decide whether it is worth the risk.

Yeah, that could be the case but I'm not 100% sure: according to Xperia Blog, Sony has refused to repair some phones with unlocked (or relocked) bootloaders (http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/07/25/sony-refusing-hardware-repairs-on-handsets-with-unlocked-bootloaders.

Yes there are traces left behind if you unlock and relock your bootloader-its the DRM keys. They are lost forever once you unlock your bootloader and even if you relock your bootloader, they won't get back.
And if a service center checks for DRM keys, then they'll surely know that the bootloader has been unlocked and you cannot invoke your warranty.
Does testpoint method work on 2012 models? Bcoz that method unlocks BL without loss of DRM keys.
Guide says it works on 2011 models, but doesn't look updated. And anyhow phones with fixed battery will not be able to use it anyhow.

If you still like your phone and it's okay for you to use such a small phone, unlock the bootloader and try a custom rom
And if that's not enough for you, you are even able to buy a new phone then

Nope....Like Rhyskymud said ,it will allow custom ROMS like JellyBean and allow custom kernels ...The performance boost is incremental not phenomenal ...meaning ...Dont expect your phone to become Xperia Z magically ....It will be a better MDPI device certainly ...

if you have enough money to buy new model then go and buy new one but if you don't have it and you phone bootloader can be unlocked then unlocked it and flash custom roms...

We do not spread false news, the warranty with the unlocking of the bootloader is NOT invalidated, Xiaomi allows the unlocking of the bootloader while maintaining the warranty, but if you break it modding with custom kernel / rom you will have to pay to fix it.

the warranty will not be invalidated, but if you create damage by modding you will have to pay to fix the device. Before sending it to service, simply remove twrp and install the original recovery.
