So you want some LOUD sound?
I did, and failed...BIG time.
I have to walk through some very noisy traffic everyday after work, and I enjoy put on some music along the way- without yanking out my headset, which is of not much help in that noise anyway.
I have an old Omnia II whose built-in speaker has been serving that purpose okay, but I longed for something more. Yes, you have guessed right at beginning of my story already: I hunted around and set my eyes on the galaxy players.
I once tried out the 1.3W speakers on the 5" model and it worked quite well, but I didn't buy it right away. Then came along the 4.2" model, which I have done quite some looking-up. The following is what I have wrong summarized from what I read and saw on the net:
1. Some official looking sites (local distributors) said that the 4" model sports a pair of 1.3W stereo speakers (somehow all such sites had missed the plural ending "s" in the word "speaker", which made me suspect that they all copied from the same wrong source!)
2. Since the 5" model's speakers are of the same output, the two models must be of the same max volume - I needed to do the guessing because I have never laid hand on a 4" one.
3. I saw in reviews and on Youtube that many said the new 4.2" model is almost as loud (some even said louder) and definitely must clearer than the 4" one...
4. So someone who is after some really loud sound, guess what I had bought?
Yes, and guess what I am whining now! The volume I get from the 4.2" model I bought today is almost exactly the same as that from my Galaxy Note!!! (I am not sure which one is a teeny bit louder).
Did i miss something? Or did EVERYONE ELSE?
If you want some sound from the your handheld gadget without needing your headset in the street, don't even consider the 4.2!
If you want okay music volume/distinct spoken words on podcast in your office without an external speaker, don't consider the 4.2!
The stereo speakers on the 4.2 = as good (bad) as any average cell phones and much much much (and much much much) worse than many others.
This is it, this should be the last time I will use ANY samsung products (or read anything about them).
Reason: the Galaxy Note i am using is a big disappointment. The GSII I had before that was a slightly small one. The omnia II (which I mentioned above and kept for music playing only) was okay but dumb in design (as many other ppl had already pointed out). The $300 (4 years ago) K5 got a lot of defects and was totalled for no reasons at all in three months. Yes, one generation worse than the preciding one, while the high prices remain unchanged.

has any one tried this MOTOROLA HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones
what r the pro n cons , if any ? Would u recommend it ?
thanks
ive been using them since January, they have a massive battery life and work really well once you get your device streaming ad2p. the sound is quite good considering the price (i paid $50AUD via ebay) theres some threads on updating the firmware but it wont work on the A model which i think is usualy the only type you get from Ebay these days. RRP was something like $120AUD which will get you the later versions.
the only 1 downside ive found is even when the headphones are switched off the battery will go flat in a day or so without charge, i just leave them on charge overnight then use them to and from work the next day.
i guess the only other side note is the size, they are a little bulky but the sound is the best part of them.
all in all a decent pair of headphones considering you will pay the same price for an official corded handsfree.
cheerz..thanks 4 the input
I bought a pair the other day after my Sony DR-BT30QB set broke. Seeing as i only payed £17.99 + p&p for my sony ones, and the price has since gone up about 200% since, i decided to buy the HT820 when i spotted them for only £14.99 + p&p. The first thing i noticed was the quality of the sound is no where near as good as i had come to expect. However after using them for 12+ hours a day (thats non-stop) for listening to Radio 1 streamed via the internet to my office PC i've gotten used to it. The battery life is awesome as you might have guessed. I've not noticed them discharging while not in use but i charge them before every use anyway. Although i use them with my Vario II and an audio transmitter i don't use them much for calls so i can't comment on what i mic is like. Also i've never been on the receiving end of a call made using them. Some people complain of pain above the ears because of the way they sit on your head. I'm completely used to that as well now.
I have been using these for about 5 months myself and I really like them. The audio quality is very nice, as is the volume and bass. I do not have the problem of the battery discharging overnight (you may want to look into warranty replacement for that).
I really like that when talking on the phone with them, audio comes through both earphones and helps isolate you from outside noise. No one I have spoken to has complained about problems with my mic, and pick up seems to be good, even when I am speaking at lower volume in a noisy public place. They do not have noise cancellation though, so sometimes I do find it hard to talk on the phone with them (while walking near a busy street)
One other neat thing about them is that you can plug in a regular 3.5mm cord and use them with non-bluetooth devices in a pinch.
Finally, the radio on them is very strong and I rarely get any interference, even when moving 20+ ft away from my device, through walls.
I recently compared them with the newer MOTOROKR S9 unit, and there is no comparison. These are, hands down, superior.
I've had two different pairs and i think these headphones really suck.
I paid $130 cad for them and was really disapointed. The suond is really flat, there's no bass, the sound is really uncrisp and they're soo bulky.
One upside is that the battery lasts forever. They've been sitting behind my monitor here for a long long time, they're so terrible.
I know the problem isn't my phone because i plugged them into the computer's soundcard and had the same terrible --no wait-- devastating sound.
I give them a 2/10
Anyway, you want bluetooth headphones, go Motorola S9. That headset knows what the true meaning of true, clean, crisp bass/treble is. Plus, they're light weight.
Anyone want to buy my headphones (ht820)?
lol talk about a mixed bag, 2 for and 2 against.

Except for the obvious Nokia branding:
I highly rate these headphones.
Sound quality is exceptional . . . battery is great . . . comfortable to wear for long periods of time and really cheap ($25 AU ebay)

its ok i hardly use those, are they smaller than the HT820? i notice they have a fold away function.
Hi Evry1. I am after an average quality bluetooth stereo headset for my HD. I love music and like to listen to my favourite tracks on the go (on the way to office and uni everyday & sometimes at home from my lappy). Ideally I would love to have amazing quality sound output but can't really be bothered to wear those chunky headsets that offer the sound quality to my satisfaction, so I decided to go for an average quality bluetooth headset for everyday use.
After going through some reviews I'm thinkin of buyin a motorola s9. I know it has issues with the buttons but I don't go to gym and don't get time for even light exercise, hence I have nothing to worry about, on that part. But, unfortunately, I can't seem to find any UK based dealer where I can get it from. Ideally I would prefer a shop where I can take the thing back if anything bad happens.
I would also like your opinion on my choice and if there is any other headset that you might suggest.
Cheers...
Doesn't anybody has anything to say?!
ah, here's my 3 cents...
Firstly, the new model is S9 HD...I considered that and some others and finally bought the Plantronics V855. I didn't need very good stereo music, and so the 855 is okay for me. At best, the call sounds are great. I didn't like wires and the 855 had just one simple wire that links to the other ear, unlike those like the SE DS980 (great stereo music).
The S9 HD (to me!) looked very out of place (aka awkward, ugly) on a person when worn - at least that what's I gather from seeing 2 persons wearing them on the streets.
Additionally, some reviews pointed to poor call voice sounds (ie. soft).
...it's really your preference in the end.
I think I'm gonna go with the DS980 then...
Dint get a bluetooth headset at the end, instead got a seenheiser CX 400-II headset... Mind blowing quality. glad that i made that choice...
Only now, after joining this forum and having learnt how to get the most out of the I9000's sonic capabilities (with Voodoo Sound), do I realise what an amazing audio device this handset is.
Last night I compared an uncompressed mp3 - played through my SGS1 - with the same track from the original CD played through a £500 Maranz CD player (CD-63 Mk2 KI Signiture). The set up they were tested with, while not new and not top range, is solid: Technics SUA-900 Mk3 Amp, B&W 602 speakers, bi-wired with Cable Talk 3 speaker cable, connected with Audioquest Turquoise.
I was amazed at how close the sound was to the benchmark - and so was my future son in law, the owner of a recording studio.
While I lack the golden ears of a true audiophile (a £10,000 set up sounds as good as a £30,000 one, to me) I think I am quite a discerning listener and music lover. Because of this the two things any mobile phone must do, for me, is be a serviceable phone and radio and a good mp3 player. For this reason I will not be buying the SGS2. It may be superior in every other way but the fact that its audio capabilities are inferior, means I will be sticking with the SGS1 - and making a bit of noise about this fact.
Who feels the same?
I totally agree I think supercurio did an amazing job!
I had high hopes for the Prime in the sound (external speakers) department.
Recent reviews revealed that the Asus Prime has speakers only at one side. No stereo sound experience when you hold the tablet in-front of you. Very disappointing in my opinion.
What do others think?
You might want to look at these redundant threads:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372397
nope, no one. First time I heard of that.
For me it's disappointing in terms of checking off specs. In real world use I'll probably be using head phones 95% of the time so it's not a big deal.
I'm going to reserve judgement until I get my unit. Haven't really heard anything bad about it with most reviews complaining more about the placement of the speaker.
This reviewer had good things to say about it.
"There is one speaker on the back of the unit along the right edge. While other tablets offer a two-speaker stereo approach, I found the Prime's overall sound quality to be surprisingly good; music sounded full and was free from the tinny effect that frequently plagues tablet speakers. At full volume, songs were almost too loud for a single-room environment. This was a welcome change from other tablets, where the volume can never seem to get high enough."

What is up with all this hate threads? No one has a damn tab in their hand so everyone needs to chill. I request a mod to delete all these stupid random threads about what the tab does and doesn't have. I'm just as excited as everyone else but we don't need 100 open discussions bout it when its not even out yet. Excited topics bout our expectations but on my god every one is bagging on a device not being sold yet.

I have read a lot on this in other forums. My thoughts are:
1) I haven't actually heard it myself so it is difficult for me to be too concerned.
2) I would normally use a headset anyway to get the full audio experience even if it had two true stereo speakers.
3) I haven't watched a review where they have bashed the audio, only mentioned that it seems to be somewhat directional and your hand can muffle it a bit which would make sense. A few have mentioned that even thought it is one speaker the sound produced is pretty good.
In summary the speaker quality was WAY down on my feature list so I am not concerned at all as long as my headphones sound sweet.
Just my $0.02. Your mileage and needs for audio could be entirely different than mine.
Yes. I really wanted to piss off all my fellow passengers on public transportation systems by playing the Butthole Surfers at full blast -- the more speakers the better -- and now Asus won't let me.
Oh, woe is poor, poor pitiful me!
No, the original...
I went and played with a prime at gamestop today. The audio was really loud and clear. and like some reviewers said if you put you hand over the speaker it seems to sound better which is good because your hand will be on top of it a lot. The other thing I liked was when I had the sound all the way up you could feel the bass in the tablet it's self which was pretty cool when playing games.
Sure, im also disappointed that my nexus s doesn't have 7.1 surround sound
Yes.. bass thumping piezo.. I can already feel the rumbling thunder...

I am extremely disappointed that the Prime doesn't come with a Vagina. I though it was perfect, but since it doesn't have that one spec I wanted, I guess i'm gonna have to go with my girlfriend who's still running 1.0.
After running through a few sets of Samsung earbuds with my Note 4--generally, they would snag on something, following which one of the earbuds would stop working--I looked for something more durable, with significantly better sound, but without breaking the bank. A hi-fi stereo system, it's not.
My research led me to the Xiaomi Piston 3, a joint product of the same company that makes the phones and 1More, which offers well-regarded earphones at significantly higher price points.
To get the best price, I also looked for a reliable Chinese vendor. I ended up buying from Gearbest. Last August, I paid $15.13 plus $1.67 for faster shipping; slower shipping was, and still is, free. Today, I see Gearbest has them for $12.29.
Even at twice the price, I think they'd be a bargain. I enjoyed them thoroughly, listening mostly to classical music, acoustic folk music, folk rock, jazz, and popular music. theheadphonelist recommends them, rating them 10/10 for value.: "Very comfortable fit; fantastic sound quality for the price; 3-button Android remote." It's sound signature is somewhat v-shaped, meaning that the bass and treble are somewhat enhanced. I say "somewhat," because if you're a real bass-head, they're not for you. On the other hand, the mids are fairly clear and present.
They have a microphone and three-button remote located on the cable to the right ear. All three buttons work on Android phones. In using the Piston 3 for phone functions, people on the other end never complained about call quality. They come with four sets of eartips: XS, S. M (on the earphones), and L.
I found the Piston 3s quite comfortable to wear for long listening sessions. Over a little over six months, they worked flawlessly. Perhaps because of the wrapping of the cables, the occasional snag didn't led to disaster.
My only problem is that I somehow lost them shortly after getting by Galaxy S7. After more research, I decided to try the newest model Xiaomi earphones, with hybrid dual drivers, that is, the Xiaomi Hybrids have one dynamic driver for low frequencies and one armature driver for high and mid frequencies. Again, I've bought from Gearbest, $16.99 plus free shipping, or faster for only a little more. After I've had and listened with them for a reasonable time, I'll report back.
Meanwhile, I'd appreciate others' thoughts, and especially experience with the S7.
I'm using the Piston 3s once again, having purchased them for my LG G2, before switching to iPhone. I definitely became spoiled by all the 3-button iOS remotes out there and wish there were more for Android. Ideally, I want a sweatproof pair with earhooks, a 3-button Android remote, and a shirt clip. Basically, an Android version of my Klipsch AS-5i.
The Piston 3s sound fine, though I'm not crazy about the fit. I just switched to the L tips and that helps a bit, but the seal isn't terrific. They're more comfortable and a lot better sounding that the Samsung buds that were included. Those make the Apple EarPods sound premium. I'm interested in what you think about the Hybrids after you've had a chance to listen.
U guys are like writing an essay. Got Xiaomi headset myself. Sound is fine. Controls are to close to each other.
