Crysis Battery Mod
For ICScrewD, ShoStock, UnNamed, and CM7Hey everyone,
I recently made this for my phone, and thought it would be a good idea to share this with everyone. This is the Crysis battery mod, I just made this work with icscrewed rom. This works with the blue, and green editions. This is cwm flashable.
EDIT:
I have realized that i did this all wrong. The charging animations were off because this was the wrong pictures. I have gone to the kitchen and made this both again. The charging animation now works like it should. Sorry. I guess this happens when this is your first try.
EDIT again :
I made a new battery icons that go really well with the blue edition. Link for download below.
Due to request, made the crysis mod to work with shostock and cm7. Battery is the same as the icscrewd pictures, down below.
CM7 battery is now working. To apply, go to theme chooser, and then select uot kitchen as your theme.
Thanks for your patience.
Installation Instructions:
Download right file for your rom
Nandroid backup (just in case
flash
reboot
go to theme settings and choose uot kitchenDue to request, I have made a version of this for UnNamed. Download below. If you would like this on the rom you are on, just ask.
And another one!
This is a big battery for UnNamed, something different. Screenshots and download below
New battery for UnNamed. Same as first screenshot.

Hmm didn't really notice in the picture but the green one don't really match the whole theme and the charging has this other part that's not even the right animation. But nice try though...

Sry man. All I did was copy the images from the international gs2 and made it work with our rom. I have no idea on how to just use the first charging animation.

Oh, I'm not really sure what to do then. Are you using a custom theme for cm, because I noticed that under the options, and also your using the nightly version right? Because that is what I downloaded. I will try to fix this when I get back from school.
If I had money, I would get a credit card. If I had a credit card, I would donate.
yeah its the latest nightly and no custom theme used. will wait for the fix. thanks!
Yes, same here. I am on the latest nightly (actually Vanilla nightly from Sam3000) and siyah 2.6.9. When I flash the battery mod my rig goes into a bootloop. Tried a bunch of things including wiping the cache etc. but still going into a bootloop at the CM7 start animation. Any ideas? Love to have this and thanks for trying!

I downloaded CM7 from sam and my phone is not bootlooping. I have not been able to replicate this issue. Can you please post a link to the CM rom that you are on, and I can attempt to make a fix for this.

I downloaded this, flashed it, and flashed my battery mod. I was not able to replicate the boot loop, however, i made a cwm flashable zip with the two apps that i changed in the battery mod. Download this, and go into cwm, then to mountst and storage. Select mount usb storage, and copy the zip into your phones sd card. I havent tried this, but then select reboot, and let the phone loop a couple of times. Then pull out the battery and go to cwm and flash the zip. I'm sorry that this happened, but i can't do much more than this, because i cant replicate this issue.
Hope This helps

You can download it to either sd card. If you can't get into cwm, then download the fix file, and extract it. Then use adb push to send the two files there into your phone. SystemUI.apk goes into /system/app, and framework-res into /system/framework.

Thanks, this is working perfect on shostock.
K, the phone is unlocked with custom recovery, rooted, ROMed (Energy/Sense) and put in the faux kernel released this month ( March 2012 ).
There are some apps I still can't remove. These are things I don't use at all. I don't Twitter, for example, so I don't need Twitter Widget. Thing is that I go to Settings | Applications | Manage Applications | Select All tab | Scroll to Twitter Widget
I don't get an enabled uninstall button.
Some other apps that are like this:
Facebook for HTC Sense (I use Google+)
Peep (twitter related)
People (I use Google Contacts)
Picasa Web Albums (I copy my photos to my phone instead of using Picasa)
...
Etc. etc. etc.
Hopefully this isn't too idiotic a question for a thread but my searches have revealed several possibilities and I am not sure what the deal is. The overall implication seems to be that I missed wiping something somewhere or that I need to remove some files manually, or that I need to get an app that uninstalls apps.
Question: Request advice or some idea on which way to jump first?
Jim C.
You cant remove them the way u are trying to because they are system apps.. easiest way to go is to use titanium backup, pro version, which u can use to uninstall or freeze any of your apps. BUT, be careful uninstalling system apps it can lead to other issues or cause ur phone to "misbehave".. this shouldnt be a problem if u remove things like twitter, but no promises... but ya, that is ur easiest way of going about it. Let me know if u have any more questions

Purchase the app Root Explorer. Open it. Navigate to /data/app and you will have your app list. You can also navigate to /system/app and access your system apps.
Long press the apk you don't want and click uninstall or remove (whichever terminology used).
Make sure you delete the right apps though. The ROM is deodexed so you shouldn't have any issues. I removed about a dozen apps this way from Energy ROM

Just go to the sys/app folder and delete the apk for what you want to remove, making sure you don't remove one that has a dependency. Also some roms have an app folder in the root of the zip that has "extra" apk to install, I remove a few from there as well.

How do I navigate to sys/app without the ROM installed for me to use Root Explorer on? I get your theory if some ROMs have app folder in root of the zip (great nugget of info btw), but I don't get the sys/app part w/o ROM installed.

Just use winzip(or something like it) and edit the zip before you flash, then in there go to the system/app. then you can reflash over what you have, with any luck you won't lose your data, or what I do is backup just my data and restore that after a rom flash. Root explorer will only work for you on the rom after it's installed, but like I said personally it's easier to remove it before flash using winzip.

What is this?
This is a simple android application, which makes the most common features available in android, without having to reboot manually to recovery. (Not ALL features!)
Latest release: 0.4 - 2012-04-22
Changelog
0.4 - 2012-04-22 (Download)
- added reboot to download mode option (i717 only)
- added backup scheduling, including optional confirm dialog to cancel in the last 10 seconds
0.3 - 2012-04-19 (Download)
- added reboot recovery option (if you don't have it in the shutdown menu)
- bugfix: non i717 devices should now be able to install zips
0.2 - 2012-04-18 (Download)
- added "menu" infront of the sd select with
- backup is selectable alone now
- wipe is selectable alone now (including wipe dalvik)
- added check for i717
-> if it is not a i717, only "external" sdcard should be available, which "mounts" to /sdcard
- back button now goes back, doesn't exits anymore (except from the start view)
0.1 - 2012-04-12 (Download)
- initial release
Known Bugs
- you can add folders to the install queue (doesn't make sense...)
How to use
- Select a zip, click on it to add it to the install queue (and repeat if wanted)
- click on the zip again, to remove it from the queue again
- after you've selected all zips you want to flash, click on "Install Queue"
- long click allows you to add/remove the zip from the queue
- clicking on apks allows you to install them (if it is enabled)
- In the Install Queue:
- long press allows you to remove an item
- if more than one zip is in the queue, you can re-arrange the installation order
- checking the backup button, allows you to create a backup before installation (to the selected device)
- selecting the wipe mode, will wipe after the zips are installed

Braway, believe it or not, I was planning on asking you this very question this morning, only to find that you've already been working on it.
It does not let you create a backup without a zip in the queue, however. It aborts the action.
Also, is there a specific CWM version that needs to be installed?
So even though I have been s-off since the Panda hit the scene, I think those that have yet to unlock/root might REALLY like to know this.
Basically you can create a back up using ADB on your NON-ROOTED device. Unlock/Root (which we all know will require a factory reset when using HTCDev Unlock) and then with your freshly rooted device, you can restore from the ADB backup you create.
I haven't tried this out yet (just got the update and attached change log) but might try it out just to see. Lucky for me all the devices I support have been Panda *certified but this will be real handy if I have to deal with a un-s-off-able device.

Cool - I wish this had been in the program a few months ago when I did the unlock.
I did the ADB backup/restore manually but this would be a lot easier.

Yeah man, the FIRST and only app I "require" someone purchase if I'm working on a phone is TB. If you never buy another app, TB is the single best investment you can make if you are rooting your phone and this just add more "goodness" to the pile. :good::good:

I was gonna say the same. I noticed one day that TiBu wasn't being granted SU just out of nowhere. I emailed Joel, he emailed me back in less than an hour with exactly the fix. (I think it was 'force system busybox' from TI settings). Guy is awesome.
I'm not sure how you perform adb backup. Would be curious to know.

I recently bought the pro version of this app strictly for this feature. Thus far, I have been unable to get it to work. I've tried two different .ab files both of which have been successfully restored from using UBT. Any suggestions or ideas why TB pro would say the .ab files are invalid?
Thanks!
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Is your backup file password protected (encrypted) or not?
Also please do (on the device or in a unix shell):
busybox head -n4 MyBackupFile.ab
and please post the result...
hmm. didnt see that. I'll have to give it a try

Another reason this app is the $hit! The dev of this essential app checking boards and popping in to help directly.
I'm about to try this out on a new white EVO LTE so we'll see how easy this goes.
Great news. Would be even greater if we could do it direct to a computer?
Maybe possible by mounting a network share? Would need to find a way to check the backup has worked though.
Or maybe this can be done with adb pull?
My phone went into boot-loop a week or so ago and this feature of TiB saved the day. I could not boot the normal OS to make a backup and had no recent backup. Reflashing my rom and wiping cache & dalvik made no difference. But I made a nandroid from TWRP, factory reset, then was able to restore my txt's from the nandroid using TiB (dialer storage) all right on the device while out to dinner. Damned nice.

Ironically, I'd been using the free version of TB for quite a while... but recently bought Pro because I found it to be so useful...
Did anyone fix the AB issue in titanium backup?
When trying to use this feature, tianium backup is not letting me select the .ab file. The file appears greyed out.
The backup file is encrypted.
I ran "busybox head -n4" on my .ab file and got the following -
ANDROID BACKUP
4
1
AES-256
Any ideas?
Edit: I managed to force select the file using another file manager only to be greeted by a message from titanium backup stating the backup file is either invalid or unsupported.

Thanks for fixing it. It works now. Though I need to use a third party file manager app to select the .ab file.
Does this mean it's somehow possible to backup directly to a PC via USB, instead of backing up to an SD? I have destroyed 2-3 SD so far by heating them up to much while doing long backup/restore
Update : Working on T889(T-Mobile) & AT&T GalaxyNote2 too.
Based on @ninekaw9 's original script from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52989641
I ported this for the N7105.
Please read the post fully before trying this.
This file basically reduces the space assigned to cache and preload partitions and reassigns that extra space to your internal sdcard.
What is preload?
Used for storing Samsung's pre-loaded bloatwares like some wallpapers and "Wonders of Nature" video that you find on your phone after a factory reset or after buying a new phone.
Reducing the cache partition:
Cache basically stores the apps from Google play while they are downloading and the rest of it is used for storing OTA updates.
The OTA updates from Samsung and big in size and hence cache has 1GB of size to store those big updates.
So basically I reduced the cache size from 1GB to 100mb because Kitkat is the last update for Note2 afaik and the phone would be out of OTA service after Kitkat.
Won't reducing cache size break some other things?
No. It won't. As I have still kept 100mb in the cache that would be fine for playstore downloads.
Can I return to stock partition size after doing this?
Yes. Find the .pit file for your device and flash stock firmware through odin alongwith the pit file.
Here is the pit file just in case if you want to go back to stock partition size. Stock_PIT_N7105
What you need to have to Re-partiton
Philz recovery installed (latest version)for t0lte device.
Note that TWRP WONT WORK as it doesn't have some binaries for partitioning.
Nandroid backup or a rom zip file in your external sdcard is a must.
Backup your internal sdcard as it will be formatted in the process.
Procedure :
1.Boot into philz recovery
2.Flash the file which is linked here.
Partition_N7105_16GB_model_only
After flashing the recovery will automatically reboot.
3.Next you will see some mounting errors. Don't worry. Just go to mounts and storage and do this
Format /data
Format /system
Format /sdcard0
Format /preload
Please don't format /boot /modem or /sdcard1.
4. So after formatting it's all done. Now you can restore nandroid or flash a new rom.
5. If you are having issue restoring your nandroid backup then read this post and do exactly what he says
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53207492
Note: You can still flash bootloaders and modems from odin after doing this re-partioning. No need to flash with pit file.
However if you want to flash a full rom from odin then pit file is required.
All credits to @ninekaw9 and @forumber2 for their original scripts. You guys are awesome ?

Would this be safe on the T889?
I know kernels for N7105 are ok on it, would love the extra space. Not sure if the partition alignments are the same between though.

Did you back it up with Philz or TWRP? I'm about to try this. Have you tried flashing a fresh Rom?

Restoring a backup from TWRP with Philz and vice versa, they usually don't play nice. I'm going to flash TWRP back after doing the partition and see if the nandroid I make works. Have you got a Rom up and running now?

Hmm okay. Well the good news is you have a Rom up and running. Just can't restore your old nandroid. Good to know.
I might do the whole thing, set up a new Rom, Nandroid that, wipe everything clean in recovery, then try restore the nandroid and see what happens.

If restoring nandroid doesn't work for you guys then you should try nandroid manager app from playstore. It lets you restore the stuff you want from your nandroid backup.
And do remember to format partitons manually after running the script. Format them from philz itself. Otherwise they won't mount.

BTW nandroids that I can't restore are only made on external SD card. Nandroid made on the phone itself work perfectly. Wonders is that help.
P.S. I did what u mentioned a long time ago when something happened to my phone.
