Crysis Battery Mod
For ICScrewD, ShoStock, UnNamed, and CM7Hey everyone,
I recently made this for my phone, and thought it would be a good idea to share this with everyone. This is the Crysis battery mod, I just made this work with icscrewed rom. This works with the blue, and green editions. This is cwm flashable.
EDIT:
I have realized that i did this all wrong. The charging animations were off because this was the wrong pictures. I have gone to the kitchen and made this both again. The charging animation now works like it should. Sorry. I guess this happens when this is your first try.
EDIT again :
I made a new battery icons that go really well with the blue edition. Link for download below.
Due to request, made the crysis mod to work with shostock and cm7. Battery is the same as the icscrewd pictures, down below.
CM7 battery is now working. To apply, go to theme chooser, and then select uot kitchen as your theme.
Thanks for your patience.
Installation Instructions:
Download right file for your rom
Nandroid backup (just in case
flash
reboot
go to theme settings and choose uot kitchenDue to request, I have made a version of this for UnNamed. Download below. If you would like this on the rom you are on, just ask.
And another one!
This is a big battery for UnNamed, something different. Screenshots and download below
New battery for UnNamed. Same as first screenshot.

Hmm didn't really notice in the picture but the green one don't really match the whole theme and the charging has this other part that's not even the right animation. But nice try though...

Sry man. All I did was copy the images from the international gs2 and made it work with our rom. I have no idea on how to just use the first charging animation.

Oh, I'm not really sure what to do then. Are you using a custom theme for cm, because I noticed that under the options, and also your using the nightly version right? Because that is what I downloaded. I will try to fix this when I get back from school.
If I had money, I would get a credit card. If I had a credit card, I would donate.
yeah its the latest nightly and no custom theme used. will wait for the fix. thanks!
Yes, same here. I am on the latest nightly (actually Vanilla nightly from Sam3000) and siyah 2.6.9. When I flash the battery mod my rig goes into a bootloop. Tried a bunch of things including wiping the cache etc. but still going into a bootloop at the CM7 start animation. Any ideas? Love to have this and thanks for trying!

I downloaded this, flashed it, and flashed my battery mod. I was not able to replicate the boot loop, however, i made a cwm flashable zip with the two apps that i changed in the battery mod. Download this, and go into cwm, then to mountst and storage. Select mount usb storage, and copy the zip into your phones sd card. I havent tried this, but then select reboot, and let the phone loop a couple of times. Then pull out the battery and go to cwm and flash the zip. I'm sorry that this happened, but i can't do much more than this, because i cant replicate this issue.
Hope This helps

You can download it to either sd card. If you can't get into cwm, then download the fix file, and extract it. Then use adb push to send the two files there into your phone. SystemUI.apk goes into /system/app, and framework-res into /system/framework.
If I had money, I would get a credit card. If I had a credit card, I would donate.

This will add reboot, reboot into recovery, and reboot into download in the power menu.
As always, make a backup before flashing. You must be using a deodexed ROM for this to work. Also, this replaces framework-res.apk, so this will overwrite any themes you may have installed.
Update: The second attachment includes both the reboot and version A (circle) accurate battery mods. The third attachment has the reboot and version Z (sense style) accurate battery mods.
Love this MOD, but it replaces the puzzle unlock screen. Anyway to have both?
Create a new file in /data/local/ called "enable_glass_lock" using like Root Explorer.
Or the following adb command should do the same thing "adb touch /data/local/enable_glass_lock"
With that you don't even need to reboot, the puzzle lock will immediately be available and if ever you want to switch back to stock lock just remove the file.
Awesome. That worked. thanks!
Anyway?
Anyway to have this and keep the blackmod notification bar?
just reapply the theme after you flash this should do the trick

Actually this does not work and what it does is when you hold the power button the power menu doesnt even apear and the phone goes into a boot loop where the phone continually goes back to the boot animation. So if you want this cool power menu DO NOT FLASH A THEME AFTER OR ELSE YOU WILL HAVE TO DO A RESTORE.
.....
Worked perfectly for me....... installed the attached zip and like stated itit unthemed me. Then I just reflashed my theme.
works great, ive been missing this since i ditched my incredible...thanks a million
yea I found this out but only did that when I flashed the circle battery mod. I used the MM black mod with this and had no problems

Which theme did you install? Blackmod will install fine because it a metamorph, and it only patches your current framework-res.apk with different images. If it was a theme that is flashed through CWM, it will replace the entire framework-res.apk and cause issues.
The best bet for any theme is to ask its author to include the mod in their theme.

OHHHH thats why cause i was using the Remix Incognito/Minimal Matte theme which needs to be flashed throught clockwork so i guess thats why i was having issues thanx. Guess ill just use blackmod.
I tried it out for him last night, and it worked great. I flashed several kernels testing the 1600 kernel, and it was pretty handy. Then I flashed the extended backlight zip, and then it rebooted when I try to shut down. So, I re flashed the reboot.zip, and it works again. Re flashed the round battery zip, and it broke again. Flashed reboot.zip. Got the reboot menu back, but lost my round battery display.
I am pretty sure I still had round battery after I used it last night. It appears the extended backlight mod made it mad.
Edit: not a working idea -.-
CrushD said:
For those who want to use different themes with the mod, what works is you can extract the framework-res.apk that comes from OP. Go into \res\drawable-hdpi\ and once in that folder, sort files by "date modified". You'll notice only three images modified on 10/20/1020. Simply copy those files over and put them in the \res\drawable-hdpi\ of your desired theme's framework-res.apk then reflash it.
The new files are download.png, recovery.png, and reboot.png so if you want to have your own images in the theme you're using, simply make the required .pngs and put them in the theme's \res\drawable-hdpi\ folder.

This won't work. There are several xml files that are edited too, which are services.jar, android.policy.jar, and some in resources.asrc. You could try to copy all of these into the theme. However, if the theme contains its own xml edits, doing so could overwrite them and lead to additional problems.

Ahh at first I thought those images were the only difference from the stock framework and all the edits were in the .jars. I forgot about resources.asrc, I was bummed out that I lost the accurate battery indicator and tried to hybridize my own theme, thought it was working, but as you state some problems arise so I second you that it won't work, looks it won't be that easy.

I keep seeing talk about "DON'T USE ROM MANAGER" it is causing issues right now in MANY DIFFERENT THREADS. Just wanted to show anyone that has issues with rom manager and how it worked for me. I have used rom manager to download roms (CM7), and also run BACKUPS from rom manager. So Rom Manager does work without issue for CM7, and still works well with any other rom for our ATT SGS2's with one little catch which is very easy to do. I know the video is not the greatest quality as I used my old cappy to record running rom manager as a backup. So if this helps you out great. If not know big deal, just thought I would try to help.

Why mess with something which can only cause grief to most people.
Best to wait for a new update of it which is fully compatible with our
phones and all the custom roms.
Until then here is a very good substitude which include many of the
same features and options as rom manager and is 100% compatible.
Check it out!

It is when the phone first goes to reboot to recovery that it will go to a black screen with a symbol on it, when you see that screen you just hold down the three button salute until screen goes black, then let go of the buttons, the backup process will begin where it should be and create your backups.
Rom manager is NO GRIEF at all and MOST know of it and how it works. This is a VERY EASY workaround rather than having another app to install to do the same exact things. But I guess there are people that cannot read instructions and follow so I SHOWED how it is done. But when you see people saying it didn't work for them on different post because they are not familiar enough to use it. I am not pointing you out MrJunky but I ha e seen you post this over and over again. I am just trying to help those out that may need it.
Hopefully others can see HOW EASY it is with a video to backup their roms (ANY ROM), then how to go about switching between backed up roms very easily. This way they can test out DGs roms, Unnamed rom, CM7, or any other rom without the fear of screwing up anything. So that is why the video shows How To BACKUP and how to SWITCH between different roms via your backups.

So, your "ROM Manager" workaround was to trigger entry into the standard non-broken non-ROM-Manager recovery?
You use the three-finger, you are no longer using ROM Manager.
This is why we tell people not to use ROM Manager. Your method is harder than simply using the three-finger from poweroff, or if you've got a custom ROM, the Recovery option from reboot menu.
Yes the workaround is slightly different as once your phone starts to boot up and goes to the screen you hold down the three buttons. I only did this because I saw others that were pulling the battery since they thought they were stuck. The plus is when using rom manager to backup the current rom you can easily name it via rom manager and.once it is backed up and rebooted you can see the name you picked stuck. I know how to JUST use the three button salute and backup right from cwm, this is.just a workaround for someone wanting to use rom manager. And it.is not any harder than JUST using the three button. It is basically the same except it allows you to use rom manager and name the backed up rom before actually backing it up. This has helped.me.in the past when I made a backup from cwm within the same day for two different roms. I wasn't sure which one was which. So I didn't want to JUST try to rename them after the fact. Yes it is NOT a big deal here but it does work. I know you do great.things for this community, and I am no dev so I am not trying to argue any points with you. I am just showing that.it can work with ease. Plus RM works perfect with CM7 without having to do the three button workaround to get rom manager to work. So what.is it that would allow CM7 use.rom manager correctly yet the stock based Samsung roms not work without a workaround?

Why not just avoid all the hassles in the first place?
Rom Manager is not the only app which can do nandroid backup/restore,
rename, delete, flash roms and kernels and much more.
(and yes it asks for filename BEFORE backing up existing rom)
For example here is an app called CWM Manager which can do all that stuff
and more without 3 finger salute or any hassle at all.
cwm manager: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G
About the only thing it's lacking when compared to rom manager is that
it cannot download roms or anything else.
Personally I think that for the majority of users its a lot less complicated to use than Rom Manager.

Are there any other apps that are similar to this? My issue is that I can't backup to my ext SD which is significantly larger, 32class10.? Or is the a mod so I can mount my ext SD as the main storage? That way all apparently recognize my sdext?

I don't understand why so many people are tied to Rom Manager. It's not that great of a tool and honestly I'm happier without it. What's the point of trying to make it work to such a degree? Maybe I'm missing something but if it never works properly, I'll be perfectly fine with it.

Dude I am not tied to it, its just that much easier! Ex. a. there is a grocery store 1 miles down the street and very easy to walk to b. on the other hand i have a car in my drive way ready to be use and i could get back so much quicker.. What choice would 99.9% of people use? Obviously b. Rom managers makes it easy to make nandroids and restore, everthing is automated. I can just "set it and forget it". Installing zips is nice because i paid for the premium version so i can flash as many zips as i wont in one swop. You would be lying if you said you prefer booting into to recovery and manually flashing or backups or restores, rather than just hitting backup or restore etc. Also it is nice because you can name your backups before you backup it up.
I am not out of space but i will be soon. I just got the phone and i have 5 gigs left (that is 2 days of use) . Moving the backups manually to the ext is such a pain and the ass. Is there alternatives out there to rom manager besides CWM Manager?

When I rename a ROM BACKUP in CWM Manager before backing it up then try to restore it, it can't find it. It just shows a blank restore screen. For some reason renaming it doesn't work for me. Just using the default name (date and time) works but custom names do not. That is a major issue, at least for me.
OTOH I don't like having to do the 3 finger salute .... both have their problems.
You realize you have posted the exact same message 3 times in this thread. that has only 13 messages. Are you on their payroll?

You simply have to rename it without any spaces. You can use periods and dashes but if you put in any spaces, it won't find them.

That's because when you change the default date/time name you
must have given it some name which contains some charactor(s)
which cwm manager cannot reconize or you changed the location
of the backed up rom to a different location than where it was saved to.
Proper location for backup is: ( sdcard/clockworkmod/backup ).
Then inside the backup folder is where the default or user named
backup folders containing the backup set of files needs to reside.

What is this?
This is a simple android application, which makes the most common features available in android, without having to reboot manually to recovery. (Not ALL features!)
Latest release: 0.4 - 2012-04-22
Changelog
0.4 - 2012-04-22 (Download)
- added reboot to download mode option (i717 only)
- added backup scheduling, including optional confirm dialog to cancel in the last 10 seconds
0.3 - 2012-04-19 (Download)
- added reboot recovery option (if you don't have it in the shutdown menu)
- bugfix: non i717 devices should now be able to install zips
0.2 - 2012-04-18 (Download)
- added "menu" infront of the sd select with
- backup is selectable alone now
- wipe is selectable alone now (including wipe dalvik)
- added check for i717
-> if it is not a i717, only "external" sdcard should be available, which "mounts" to /sdcard
- back button now goes back, doesn't exits anymore (except from the start view)
0.1 - 2012-04-12 (Download)
- initial release
Known Bugs
- you can add folders to the install queue (doesn't make sense...)
How to use
- Select a zip, click on it to add it to the install queue (and repeat if wanted)
- click on the zip again, to remove it from the queue again
- after you've selected all zips you want to flash, click on "Install Queue"
- long click allows you to add/remove the zip from the queue
- clicking on apks allows you to install them (if it is enabled)
- In the Install Queue:
- long press allows you to remove an item
- if more than one zip is in the queue, you can re-arrange the installation order
- checking the backup button, allows you to create a backup before installation (to the selected device)
- selecting the wipe mode, will wipe after the zips are installed

well, right now you can select, to create a backup before you flash a file
you could also of course do only the backup, but remember, it will reboot to recovery, but if it is on a timer at night, then you probably wont care as much...

Braway, believe it or not, I was planning on asking you this very question this morning, only to find that you've already been working on it.
It does not let you create a backup without a zip in the queue, however. It aborts the action.
Also, is there a specific CWM version that needs to be installed?
I have my Droid X2 rooted and I have never tried to flash roms. Can anyone please give me a detailed layout on how to go about flasing roms? Prefered Roms that you like to use would be helpful.

Hi I'm new to all this and tried searching and this thread was the closest thing I could find. I just recently rooted my x2 and OTA updated to 2.3.5. I was wondering how I can install the cm9 a5 on my droid? thanks for the help
CM9 is pretty good to if you want ICS on your DX2. I was using it on my X and loved it. Then my X crapped on me by the ear piece speaker going dead and Verizon is sending me a X2 for replacement. Will be putting CM9 on my X2 when it arrives.

Eclipse is probably the best problem-free ROM right now. Very good and very stable. I personally like CM7 the best because of the level of customizations it includes. You have a lot more control and settings readily available to you. CM7 does have a bit of a Wi-Fi bug that makes it less than perfect but I still prefer it over Eclipse. Some would say CM9-A5 is good enough as a daily driver but for me battery life and multiple random reboots keep me from using it as a daily driver.
I was on eclipse for about a week then I decided to switch over to cm7.2. I'll never go back to eclipse. I found that I still had a lack of memory comparable to stock. Once I switched to cm7, I have a lot more ram available and it runs smoother. I've only noticed the wifi issue and a few app fc every once in a while. A quick reboot fixes the app fc. Reboot is literally less than a minute. Also, love the customization with cm7.

I have found that I don't really miss flash being on cm7. I tried cm10 a2 but there were too many bugs and it was slow. Eclipse with adw used too much of my ram and wasn't as smooth. Any hints on how to make eclipse run smoother and not use as much ram? I do love adw ex using eclipse more than the adw launcher on cm7 because there are more options with it being a newer version.

the launcher 2 that comes with eclipse uses the same amount of ram. varying by 1 or 2. just saying. i use the new adw with elcipse and i have no lag. i also dont really use widgets and such though, as our phone cant really handle it.

also, just to metion, on CM7 , superuser will either stop working randomly in the middle of tasks, or just not work to begin with. i found this frustrating enough to just stick with eclipse. eclipse leaves everything functioning. and has themed swype! the old 3.26 ! just sayin.

I am brand new to the flashing game. Gave up a night's sleep a couple of nights ago because I was frustrated with my X2 and will have it for another year.
I just went strait for CM10 for daily use. I am finding it adequate but buggy.
What I LOVE is the way the contacts work now. I am a heavy group texter for volunteer groups and work. I find the contact interface worth the work around for FB and GoogleNow and loss of NetFlix.
I was wondering if I flashed to eclipse or CM7 is their an app or way to use my contacts with the same that comes with JB? Is there a way to save the format of my contacts from CM10?
It will take me a while to sbf stock and flash to Eclipse or CM7, lol.
Hello all,
I've rooted my GNote and tried to get rid of some useless apps, since updating to official ICS made it unbarebly slow and a lot laggy. I used Titanuim Backup to remove some apps and it reboots without deleting any, also it sucks even if it works cuz it needs to reboot everytime u wana remove an app!!!
Is there any alternatives I can try that don't require rebooting?
JIC: I will flash it with a custom debloated, deodexed ROM, but not right now as i need to do a few backups. but for the time being i need something to get by.
Thanks.
Something is not right there. When I used TiBu to uninstall system apps (debloat a factory rom) apps I had no problems ans didn't have to reboot svery time. Just did this again a couple days ago removing a few apps from fj's rom.
Check your settings in tibu and double check if unknown sources and usb debugging are on. Then recheck root, that is my suggestions.
No point in worrying. Flashing any one of our devs roms will give you a better experience than the OTA. Download rom manager and use it to install cwm. Place the rom on the SD card and reboot into recovery. First create a backup then wipe system, cache and dalvik three times and flash the zip. Depending on the rom you may need to flash gapps after system install. Done. No bloat plus lots of optimizations and goodies.

I have seen a lot of complaints of lagginess from people who updated OTA.
I updated via Odin with an ICS image from samfirmware and never had a problem.
Debloating after that made a bit of a difference too but not the kind of difference you'd see with flashing an AOSP variant.

Thank you sir.
I have CWM flashed already so what are the next steps? (this is my first time flashing a custom ROM)
btw, by "pc" do you mean a desktop computer or "windows OS"? (there is a lot confusion going on out there.)
and no I don't use my GNote to download anything other than apps from "Google Play".
I did a wipe before installing the update through Kies, and I'm pretty happy with the stock rom. I think Samsung needs to find a way to add a full backup and restore to Kies and just perform a wipe as it upgrades. Shouldn't be too hard, Titanium already does it (mostly).
I had this problem too.
