my evo 3d is normally not booting up - HTC EVO 3D

hi
so when i want to sleep i power off my gsm evo 3d, last night i powered it off as usual, and now it turns on and stays on (htc quietly brilliant) screen and never goes from that
i have s-off and rooted and hboot 1.53.0007 and arabic ICS, i have done rooting and stuff for about 20 days, it was just normal until this morning
help me please, i know a factory reset may be useful, but i don't want to lose my data
thanks in advance

If you can boot into recovery, do a backup to save your data. Wipe install Rom again. Then do an advance restore and only restore the data partition.

i don't want to format it at all

What coal686 was trying to say is, do a backup of the rom, boot directly to recovery, then make a back up of your existing rom. Then re flash the rom and do a full wipe after the rom boots go through the setup. Go again to recovery and within recovery under restore you will see advance restore, click on that, you know see data restore push that and all your apps, email, apn etc will be restored back on your phone

Yes, that's what I meant. Well, except I would do a full wipe first and then reflash the ROM.

EVO 3D not going pass boot logo after Rom Manager

Hi Guys,
I really need help here.
I have a rooted and unlocked boot loader (Revolutionary) HTC Evo 3d. I already had clockwork recovery installed but when i opened ROM manager and clicked on download ROms it asked me to download clockwork recovery.......so i did. The phone got stuck so i pulled the battery out. Now i simply cannot get past the HTC boot logo. I can get into recovery but i do not want to factory reset as i don't have a backup of my data. Is there ANY way to do ANYTHING to fix this?
Would really appreciate any help in this regard. Any suggestions????

Try booting into recovery ...once there wipe dalvik cache, and also clear the option that says "data cache" will edit so I can reboot and get the exact wording but its data clear cache is what you want to clear as well..then once complete reboot phone and it should get you going. What ROM are you flashing?
**its wipe data/factory reset**
Clear that then reboot see if that helps

Don't really want to do a factory reset because i don't have a back up of my data. I guess no option other than this.

No its not a factory reset of your phone..ie: settings erase ..
This is through recovery on clock mod. All it does is clear the previous data which is probably why you get stuck in boot loop
its not going to erase your phone...

Did all 3. Dodnt work. In the fast boot theres an option of factory reset(Not in the recovery) should i go ahead with that? Or since my phone is unlocked and rooted that might mess things up more?
Last option is to flash again

It should be in recovery...if you are using clock mod ...let me see if I can get a screen shot ...stand by

Ok not uploading.....but once you boot into clock mod....in the options one of those is the data/wipe factory reset something like that in recovery...not fastboot.
If you did that then you will need to flash again....do a nandroid recovery and then try again

I know how to do that and did it correctly but no luck. I guess flashing a new rom is the only way.
Could you point me to where i can get ROMS for the eve 3d? There seem to be a few online so any recommendations?
Just copy a PG86IMG.zip image of TWRP to your sd and install through the bootloader.
Then, never use Clockworkmod recovery again in your lifetime.

I never had a problem with cwm on devices with no other option.... But on devices that had other options the other options have always been the better choice. Could it be that cwm sucking necessitated an alternative or mere coincidence? Likely the latter... But I'll never use cwm if I have another option--cuz all I hear about is trouble.

That is what you're looking for but all it's gonna do is flash a different recovery. From your posts, it seems cwm recovery was still functional. You just need to flash a new rom and forget about your previous data. Always have a nandroid backup of some sort, and this won't happen. I nandroid backup once a week atleast, and more if I start tinkering with the rom. I have also NEVER had any problems with cwm recovery on any of the four android devices i've owned. I don't know why people dislike it so much.

Nandroid Restoring problem

Hey guys, I have the twrp recovery (non touch screen version) and a lot of the times when I try to restore to sense (from miui) it just shuts off half way during the restore. Btw this is with more than 50% of battery life. Has anyone else been having issues with this

Try wiping before restoring
Sent from my PG86100
There are two versions of twrp, each can only restore backups that were made with that version

so id need to flash the sense rom and then restore it??
Idk what you mean. If you made a nand with the old version of twrp you need to flash that version them flash the nand, then flash the new twrp and nand it. Then you would have a band that could be flashed with the current 1.1.xxx twrp
sent from my EVO 3D via XDA app on ViperROM
I think what he's saying is that if you made a back up using the old 1.0.3 version of twrp it won't work on the 1.1.1 version which was the latest one before the touch interface recovery.
Sent from my PG86100
I have twrp v1.0.0. Whenever I flash miui and then decide to restore back to my sense rom through nandroid restore, it would just shut off.
Then I'd have to reflash the sense rom and start over..
To get sense to fully restore without my phone just shutting off halfway through should I flash sense, reboot the phone, then reboot to recovery and restore??
I hope this makes sense guys.

Try it. I had a similar issue, except it didn't shut off. Mine would just stop half way through restart. I ended up having to wipe and start over because somehow my nandroids got corrupted.
Comcastrated
u might want to try to flash recovery again. I had this issue with twrp. Some backups would not restore. I went back to cwm.
This happened to me also it ended up being how I renamed the backup.

Same thing happened to me on the OG Evo. At the time, did not know that renaming them would not let them restore properly.

Nandroid backup and restore with Amon-ra

I am used to making backups and restoring with CWR on my EVO but now that I have the Rezound and CWR does not work, I make Nandroid backups with Amon-ra but am not able to restore them. I read somewhere that some things need to checked while on recovery mode but I am not sure what. What do I need to do to make a proper Nandroid Backup? And also do I need to flash anything else after I restore a backup?
If restoring an ics build coming from ics(or gb to gb) no additional flashing should be needed. Should only be needing to backup system data cache and boot. If you do s-off exploit, you can restore boot.IMG directly through the nandroid.

Go to this thread and download the file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547496
I know for sure it works with amon ra. Flash it in recovery, I think it boots automatically afterwards into bootloader, flash the image, reboot and it will go back into recovery on its own then flash your nandroid. Then all should be well. Just flashing nandroid will not allow the phone to boot
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I've restored several times through Amon Ra backups. I back up the usual stuff and the Android secure file. So far no problems at all.
I recieved my CLNR from verizon yesterday. Made a nandroid last night.
Today I have unlocked, rooted and now I am trying to restore my nandroid.
This is what it looks like:
x boot
x system
x data
x cache
recovery
sd-ext
x android_secure
android_secure_internalsd
perform restore
return
I hit perform restore and this is what happens
oops....something went wrong. Please check the recovery log!
What does that mean and where do I go from here?
Thanks

how do i uninstall the viper ROM?

ok i loaded the viper ROM on my EVO 4G and i cant get rid of it. how do i return my phone back to stock?
Did you create a backup before you flashed the ROM? You could restore to that. You also could either flash a stock ROM (search the forums) or RUU. Good luck.
The Sprint store gave me a copy of the RUU and a new ROM but i cant get the boot loader to find it. do i need to change the file names?
I am not sure, I have never RUU'ed before. Sorry.
You have to go to the bootloader on the phone and connect it to the pc then on the pc u run the ruu and it will restore u back to stock

how do i run it connected to the PC? The Sprint store couldnt even figure out how to restore it to stock.
Here ya go man, go here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045935 download the rom.zip (its the stock rooted 3.16) put it on your sd card.
go to recovery,
go to the wipe menu,
wipe data factory reset,
wipe cache ,
wipe dalvic,
wipe system,
go to install and choose the rom from the menu and flash away. when its finished just reboot your device and youll have a stock phone just like from the store,,,,,,but rooted
hope this helped
Thank you that did the trick. !! much appreciated!!

[Q] Flashing a ROM for the first time, but need to keep data settings

I'm trying to flash the Santod Stock ICS, debloated, deodexed ROM onto my phone.
I'm coming from Stock GB, and I have already got S-OFF and Root with the HTC Thunderbolt All-in-one-tool.
However, I am currently confused and stuck on what to do next. The catch is that I dont get my service through Verizon, but through Mobi PCS in Hawaii which basically just offers 3G and this required me to pay someone locally to hack the phone and input manually the data settings.
Now, I notice that in the instructions for flashing this ROM is to totally wipe the partitions. Is this really necessary? Only asking because I don't want to lose the data settings and possibly have the phone not be able to have service or have to pay for the settings to be put back on.
I have already created a backup through 4ext, so I think I should be fine with that part. Is there a way for me to back up the data portion of the phone, wipe the partitions, and restore it after I flash the ROM? Besides all that, which radio should I flash first before the ROM?
I would really appreciate some help if anyone has the time.
Thanks
Since you made a nand backup in 4ext you should be OK to do a full wipe (yes you have to full wipe, data, cache and system). If something is wrong then restore your backup and you should be OK. The problem I see you having is that you will have to flash the new radios in order to flash ICS. I'm pretty sure that will mess up any settings you have for the modem which means you would have to get your phone flashed to that service again.

Nah you don't have to wipe the SD. Also, since you have to do a full wipe you can use an app called titanium backup to back up user apps and data. Make sure you don't restore system apps from gingerbread into ICS.
