Just curious because support is telling me that my Prime is "jail broken". not sure what they mean by this since it's not an iPhone. did they mean rooted or bootloader unlocked? I don't recall unlocking the bootloader ever for this but I'm at work now and won't be able to check til later tonight. I was just wondering if there is a site I can go to to check the status.
I just checked and my Prime is not even unlocked, as far as I can see. Not sure if this how you would check but I restarted it and held the Volume down while rebooting. I read the info that appeared at the top and nothing said unlocked. Now I'm wondering how does Asus know my tablet is rooted (if that is what he meant by jail broken)? I have never called them and never sent them my tablet. I think Asus will definitely be getting a customer is angry call tomorrow.
Did you buy it new, used?
It is possible if you bought one from someplace that someone returned it after they unlocked it and you just happened to get it.
I guess even new, someone could have opened it, but told the store they didn't.
Hope you get it straightened out, as it will affect your warranty.
Good Luck.
Talking to them now. I bought my Prime brand new from Gamestop. I was the first one to pre-order at the store and the first one to pick it up. It was sealed when I got it. Asus is saying that i sent it in. I have never sent my tablet to them. I asked him when it was sent in and he says that information has been deleted. I told him I need to know the dates it was sent in and when it was returned because it has never left my possesion. They have me on hold right now

If you had unlocked it yourself you would definitely know it. So if there were no previous owners and it was in a sealed box when you got it, I don't see any way it could be unlocked without your knowledge.
I have not unlocked myself (just rooted with stock boot loader and ROM) so I have not seen this personally. But according to what I've read here on XDA there is a "this device is unlocked" message that appears somewhere during boot if the device is unlocked. Do you get such a message?
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586634&highlight=undo+unlock Which is someone talking about wanting to lock it again, which apparently can't be done. But it does describe what an unlocked device looks like.
You will not believe this!!! Asus says that they know that my tablet has been rooted because the information was sent to them (or retrieved by them) by the devicetracker.asus.com site. He said not only is it used to find stolen product, but it can be used to retrieve system information sent by the tablet, like when it is rooted. We finally figured out that what was sent back to them was my power brick in March because it stopped charging the tablet. Now I need to know what information Asus can see off that Device tracker site because it has never worked for me when I put my SN in.
Found this post and it looks like I activated the service sometime ago but it doesn't seem to work for me now. I can't see any information on my tablet. So it seems that they can track whether your rooted and it does void your warranty, unless I can find some documentation that states rooting your tablet doesn't void the warranty.

Nope not unlocked. Checked last night, no message that it was unlocked. I purposely didn't unlock it because I had plans to send it in to them to get one of the newer ones (latest serial numbers).

Interesting they know (going from your previous post) that you are rooted. Anyway, it's my understanding the rooting does not void the warranty. Only unlocking does. So being rooted and Asus being able to detect root status should not make any difference.
I just followed the link you posted and tried to go to http://waveshare.asus.com/select_lang.action . For the user id and password I tried using the same information I use for the Asus VIP site ( http://vip.asus.com/user/uhome.aspx?SLanguage=en-us ) It got me to the screen where you accept the agreement but then keeps kicking me back to the login screen. Is this a different account I have to register for?
From reading around, it seems to only work when you sign in with your google account, but be careful. In the agreement that pops up, it says something about linking your goggle account with the serial number of the tablet. I just wonder what benefit Asus gets from doing that? Does it allow them to query more info from the tablet?

I just bought this Vibrant over ebay.
What sux is, the user is some what mislead prints.
Here is the case, phone is locked down. pattern lock down...
Factory Reset code does not work.
Hold Down Vol Down + Vol Up + Power Button, Release Power on Vibrant Logo show up. This procedure done so many times, did NOT work.
Does this mean I have a Hardware Lock? on this phone. (the phone shows July/17/2010)
Please tell me what options there are to solve this issue?
I like to use this phone on a prepaid sim. later get this sim unlock also.
Adb reboot recovery. You have to dl the android sdk first.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
does this require, going in the device and enable debug? cause I can not even go in to Stock Recovery Mode. Stuck on the google account log in screen.
can you tell me how to get adb recovery to work?
thnx in advance.
Why does this post seem a little fishy to me? My instincts would lead me to think the phone isn't legit. You bought a phone off of Ebay, AND it came screen locked? Having sold many a phone on Ebay, I can tell you the first thing I do is wipe the phone and restore it to 100% stock. Receving one locked is alot more than "misleading", it just plain makes no sense. But I.m guessing you already know that. If it walks like a duck, and quack likes a duck....it's probably a stolen phone

That would be too easy
Dipping it in acid unlocks it in sub seconds, if you use hot water it will take longer, but you will get an email confirmation of a full unlock.

Tell you what, I actually got a hold of the Original owner of the phone, she was nice to add me to Authorized user, some hispanic lady. She gave up on the phone cause not what she exactly need. have no clue how to even use it correctly. Friend of her, sold it on ebay. I bought it, ever since been in touch with T-Mobile. Trying to get IMEI Unlock code!! still waiting...for that email...
do not bother, "there is app to get unlock code" I KNOW! there is!! I want to use it badly...Problem is, I am in a town where T-Mobile does NOT EXIST!! Only ATT. That is why, getting unlock code, so I can use it on ATT. Log in the phone, and Format with Custom ROMs.
This is my only choice now I have...suck aint it.

Just got a tp201 (with keyboard) for cheap. Now I know why. The tp was rooted, from what i gather, which I don't care about. The problem is wifi will not turn on. It just hangs, saying "turning on wifi" but never does. I did some research and found this is not all that uncommon. However the common fix of wipe data does not seam to work. I installed different roms, restored etc.... It worked once after I installed virtuous prime. but when i woke up no wifi again... Tried everything again (2days worth) and nothing..... Called asus and it is still under warranty, but he said if it has been rooted it would not be covered under the warranty. So if someone cant help get the wifi working, or can someone let me know if i can get the "this device is unlocked" off boot screen. I already unrooted, assuming I was going to send in. but message is still there. I guess I may be screwed. Even though a rooted device shouldn't have anything to do with what i am assuming is a hardware problem, i have a feeling i will have to pay for the repair (how much do you guys think?)..
Well thank you in advance
Root/Unroot and "Your device is unlocked" are two different things.
You can unroot a device but there are until now no means to"unblock" your device.
"Your device is unblocked" means that your bootloader is unlocked.
Sorry, no mean against that until now.
If the boot loader is unlocked your warranty is gone. I believe that Asus records the serial# of Primes that have been unlocked with the official unlocking tool that they provide which is probably what was used to unlock the Prime.
If you got it off eBay or something you might try to file a dispute under their buyer protection program, sine it sounds like the person selling this Prime new it was defective.
Either way, Good Luck!
I know it should be common sense but stupid me it wasn't so thought i'd pass it on here for anyone else in this situation.
Well having a device replaced under the 1yr warranty from ATT and got what seems to be now after i unlocked bootloader, twrp recovery, flashed custom rom, etc is now bunk! So i call ATT Warranty Exchange to tell them about my bunk refurbished device they sent me so i can get this one now exchanged for another. Well the lady said she needs to have me install some ATT app so she can basically diagnose my device first. I say ok so she sends me a text message with a link for app download and install, DO NOT DO THIS, HANG UP PHONE!!!
Well basically i downloaded and installed the app and what this does is gives ATT full access to your phone by remote! Not even a second after she connected to my device she says to me, "When did you root this phone?" I **** my damn pants and just denied everything and said i didn't and then she said well maybe since it's a refurbished device it was rooted before. Then she wanted to put me on hold it seems to get a supervisor to look further into it which i'm sure they would have then seen the date of root which is obviously after i received the device. So needless to say i hung up right away and deleted the damn app ASAP!
Now i'm worried to call back to Warranty to try again because i'm sure now she added on my account that i have a rooted device so who knows if they will help me now? Going to call them later tonight and see what happens. Will update this thread if people are interested so thought i'd just throw that tip out there. Worst comes to worst i have Square Trade warranty too for 2yrs so could just pay the deductible and get a new device from them but guess we'll see. Maybe just live with my device for another 4-5 months until the HTC M8 comes out?
Hello my LG V30 H932 will not Permanently Unlock. The phone was paid off in full and I waited 40days like Tmobile requirements want. The phone which was brand new was replaced due to a malfunction with the display. So they gave me a warranty exchanged phone. And i have had trouble unlocking the phone ever since. Tmobile ended up giving me 2 more warranty exchanged phones thinking that this would finally solve the problem with the unlock. And after trying and trying the phone will not unlock despite being on the phone with Tmobile tech support for weeks (they tried everything from Manager Overrides, whitelisting the IMEI, putting the phone through escalation, etc) and they still were not able to unlock my phone. The Device Unlock App keeps saying "unlock failed". Finally Tmobile suggested using a third party online unlocking service which they even paid for and still this unlocking service wasn't able to unlock my phone.
Has anyone else ever had a problem with Tmobile not being able to permanently unlock their phone via Device Unlock App? I keep telling Tmobile i think it's because the phone is a warranty exchanged phone and this is why it's not working. But they said no that shouldn't cause any issues. Anyone else know what I could do to get the phone unlocked? Highly appreciate any advice and help and thank you for your time.
No issues with mine. T-Mobile sent me the unlock the day I bought my device (paid in full) and no issues usings other carrier SIM's in it.
Had two v30 with the same issue. For me allowing the unlock app to access all the permissions fixed it for me.

Yes I have all permissions allowed and still not working.
Before i got my LG V30 replaced with the warranty exchanged one (bc of the display malfunction that i had) the phone did permanently unlock for me. On the Brand New Lg V30 it unlocked just fine. Then when they sent the warranty exchanged v30 it would not unlock anymore. I think the problem is with the warranty exchanged phones. Just my thought.

You are probably correct, but that's an internal T-mobile issue. They have it so locked down even that 3rd party unlocking service can't touch it. I find it amusing they actually paid for a 3rd party unlocking service for you. That was them admitting they really screwed it up.
Okay today i called Tmobile one more time to ask about my IMEI. I wanted to make sure that the IMEI was in good standing. And that it was not on anyone else's account by mistake. Everything looked good. After explaining my situation again for the 100th time, the account specialist said she can transfer me to their Advanced Technical Support Team which Tmobile has never tried before. She also was perplexed bc on their end my phone says it is eligible to be unlocked. Anyway After speaking with the representative she said she would submit my case for escalation with their Technical Engineers. This we have never done. So in afew days i should hear back from them and i hope and pray that finally the phone will be able to Unlock Permanently! If not then there is nothing else i can do. I have tried what seems like everything. Unless anyone from XDA has the solution! Updates coming soon.
Also i want to add that at one point a technical support representative said that they will request that they replace my phone with a new one and not warranty exchanged one. He said he can't guarantee that tmobile will approve of this but he would try anyway. But of course i did not receive a new phone but the warranty exchanged phone instead. I just think tmobile could have tried harder to compensate me some how, but no nothing. But i think if after the technical engineers get back to me and still the phone won't unlock i am going to tell tmobile that i will file a complaint about this. And even share on social media how they have failed me. I will also tell them that I'm really disappointed that they didn't offer me any compensation for this situation. Tmobile has failed big time and what are they going to do about it??? Most likely nothing..
@michy21: This is troubling for sure. I gather you must still be with T-Mobile (or you wouldn't be able to use your SIM locked H932).
I too unlocked my TMO V30+ after 2 months using the Device Unlock app, and switched to an AT&T MVNO. T-Mobile reception is terrible inside our apartment, so I had no choice. But I worry what will happen if I need warranty repair (my screen just got a dead pixel today) or even after OS updates. T-Mobile probably won't grant unlock again without me being a subscriber.
They treated me horrible when I ported out, and I swore I'll never go back to them -- too bad because I really liked T-Mobile up till then, and would've come back when they roll out Band 71 in our area. So yes, this worries me.
I'll be quite interested to hear the outcome of your story.
You know I feel your pain. I bought a V10 off swappa a couple years ago and the same thing happened to me. There's a thread in the tmo V10 section where I listed the direct contact info of a lady named Jennifer I believe. She was the one to finally help me and make it happen and is quite high up with tmo. I went through all the same crap as you for months. She's the one to help you. Everyone else is useless no matter how much they will tell you otherwise. Give me a few minutes to find the thread.
Oh and I actually filed a complaint with the FCC . You need to do that ASAP too.

Good luck. FCC should be your priority. I highly advise you to word in such a way that portrays them as "unwilling or refusing to unlock a device that meets the criteria". That will get a better response and they will want to fix that to be able to close the ticket. You gotta play dirty a bit. That's what I did and it worked quite well.

I just finished filing the complaint and emailed jennifer. Hope to hear from someone soon!
I just got done talking to Nicole from the executive office at Tmobile. She called me regarding my complaint I filed to the FCC. And she couldn't get my phone to unlock, but she said she is going to send me an Unlocked phone instead. It's not brand new but a warranty exchanged one that is in excellent condition. So finally I'm happy with the outcome.
Does anyone here know if the T-Mobile variant has a locked bootloader? And if so, is there any way to unlock it?
I'm wondering the same thing...I'll be going to look at it later today. Also I noticed the wifi model has the phone dialer installed so I'm wondering if the LTE T-Mobile model has phone function with the right sim installed?
I went to the T-Mobile store to look at the tab...They had no idea if the bootloader is locked or not. I'm sure it probably is but haven't seen anything about whether it can be unlocked yet. They also told me that the phone and SMS/MMS might work for a few days until the system detects it is a tablet, then those functions will be disabled. Make no sense to me why we can't have those functions on a tablet here in the US...And why even put the software on the tab if it can't be used? I told them to keep it and I'll get the WiFi tablet and just use the hotspot on my phone when I'm out and about. At least I'll get quicker updates (Maybe because Samsung) and I won't have the tons of their bloatware on the thing.
Any feedback?

If you can go into store and view the tablet go into settings and enable developer options by tapping on the build. Then go into developer options and see if there is a switch to unlock the boot loader. I just bought the wifi model from Best Buy and the boot loader can be unlocked. I have already installed TWRP and Magisk. I think maybe the LTE version may require a 7 day wait not sure.

Unfortunately, I think I'm being held back by the whole 7-day oem-unlock hide thing. And all the ways around it have apparently been patched by samsung. So this time next week, I'll know for sure. As of right now, I believe it can be unlocked, but I don't know for sure.

I did not know Samsung has this 7 day wait period (like Xiaomi has a 2 week period). Oh well, time will tell Thanks for keeping me posted and do let me know what you find. I did see a post somewhere on xda for the tab s6 where the poster said he could unlock the carrier device (think it was Tmobile) but he wanted to find out if he could root it. Hello Arudis I got a used Tmobile variant. But I do not see any OEM unlock option in developer settings (a prerequisite before anything can be done for unlocking b/l). Which software version is yours having? (maybe it is different because you bought directly from Samsung but does not make sense if it is branded Tmobile). Could be that you have an older version of Android-appreciate if you could let me know which software version, CSC etc yours has. I might end up returning mine if there is no progress. Thanks.!
EDIT: Returned it. Great price and condition. Just too bad-did not want to take chances with it. Good luck-seems that you should be able to unlock it per that other post I sent.

Well. I'm struggling w/ it. CSC was TMB btw. This whole ordeal has been a mess of mistakes on my part. If i can't get this unlocked in the next day or 2 then i'll be returning it myself. I'd rather have a weaker tablet w/ root and a custom rom than a great tablet that i have to run stock.
Current software version is T867USQU3BTJ1 / T867UOYN3BTJ1 / T867USQU3BTJ1.
First thing I needed to know was whether or not I could unlock the tablet for other networks and in order to do that, I inserted a sim and logged into the tablet w/ my google account. I think this is where I made my first mistake as I have a sinking suspicion that inserting the sim somehow got rid of my oem unlock toggle. I know I had seen it before I started trying 2 unlock the sim because its always the first thing I do when I get a new device. But between the sim and the unlock process I ended up rebooting too many times and it auto-updated itself to the latest firmware. Since the latest firmware, I haven't seen that toggle at all. When I try to flash twrp w/ Odin, it fails.
@ this point I've decided that I will never buy another samsung device ever. I've had all manner of fun rooting every other device i've ever owned that wasn't a samsung device, however every samsung device has always been a supreme pain in the butt because I can't just do what i want w/ adb and fastboot.

I agree but this has more to do with (if not entirely) to U.S carriers playing games with dual devices for marketing-only here does this go on, where the carriers since time immemorial have blocked calls and texts on tablets (7 and above inches) giving some bs reasons (there was a time they had this tablet "plan" and phone "plans"-those have at least merged at least for Tmobile-otherwise their servers would detect a tablet and switch you automatically to a tablet plan for your 'convenience' and maybe even 'safety' lol)....so as long as they do this, Samsung (even Apple which does the same thing worldwide anyway) have tablets that do not have phone-like functions (Samsung has this call and text pairing with other Samsung phones a.k.a buy two of our devices please AND have two plans (so both Samsung and carriers win)...) on their U.S devices (Samsung at least to their credit have this :"unlocked" cellular variants in rest of the world, Apple does not even have that-yes, I know there is Google talk and all kinds of wifi-based workarounds but that is a different topic.
EDIT-if you compare the older devices like say tab S and tab s2 (the carrier variants and the international variants you will find out that even the speaker arrangements are different. I delved deep into this and found that even the boards were different-the lengths they went to do this to keep the versions distinct is amazing!) folks here on xda etc kept thinking for a while that they could simply flash the international ROMs (never mind the b/l block or hurdles) but the partitions were not even the same let alone the modems, and the actual hardware itself!
So blame the carriers-I do. So I never get these carrier devices (first time I tried my hand at it-no more)
Having to perform a soft boot tonight I noticed an "unlock bootloader command" in the softboot menu along with "cache clear" along with the always present "factory reset". Which I have to perform anyway because network mode locked to 3G only and no option to change it back so it has major conectivity issues. I'm thinking I may try the unlock bootloader command.
P.S. Mine is the tmo version

Out of curiosity which model number is your tmobile tab s6 lte? I have the verizon sm-t867v model which i re-flashed to the tmobile sm-t867u model using modified Odin 3.14. Unfortunately the bootloader remained locked down with no way to unlock it. Also what is this softboot menu your speaking of? I know samsung like the back of my hand and I've never heard of a softboot menu. Curious if this is something new im not aware of since I've been stuck with verizon brands the last 3 samsung devices I've owned...
Yes and Yes!
Can someone clarify something on the Tmobile Variant of the Tab S6?
This T867U definitely comes with the HARDWARE to text because i got it to work but it stopped.
So could this just be a matter of getting it 'Carrier Unlocked" so TMO cant decide what we do with our tab s6 since its payed for???
Make calls and send messages from your Galaxy tablet
With Call & text on other devices, you can receive calls and send messages on your Galaxy tablet that is logged in to the same Samsung account as your phone.

I have the same problem, I bought the device from eBay and now in Egypt, the device is locked to the T-Mobile network, and I don't know a way to unlock it. I cannot contact the seller to ask him about the T-Mobile subscription details, and after communicating with T-Mobile, they did not reply
