Hey all.
Okay Galaxy Note with stock ICS, I am using GO Launcher and GO phone ex.
When a call comes in, it shows a pretty picture and the number but everyone is Unknown Caller. In the call log it shows who it was correctly.
It don't know if this is a ics problem or GO issue.
Any ideas how to check this?
Thanks

I promise you it is not an ics issue. Try deleting cache for the app u are using, reboot and try again. I use default phone app but I promise it is not ics.
I believe you!
Ok thanks, will try that

I'm on the latest build of AOKP (4/21) and for some strange reason people are not receiving my texts. Messaging says they are sent, but no one receives. I can send and receive phone calls no problem. I can receive texts no problem. Also, doing *#*#checkin#*#* return 'checkin failed'. What could be happening?
Have you tried a different apn?

Try clearing the app data in manage apps. Theres always a full wipe & fresh install if nothing else seems to work.
That's.... not the latest version. Try again.

Well I can say why not read the aokp thread and not just post threads like this. Latest is actually 4-25 build and your problem sounds like you flashed 4-21 over an older which sometimes it will work perfectly and other times you need a full wipe as well as task has mentioned this in the first post of the thread.

Charlie

I play around with settings in phone information in *#*#4636#*#*
now my phone can't send sms, but still can receive sms from other ppl. The weird thing is,i can make a call.
just Can't send sms
So.... any ways to repair this problem?
Thx

Yeay!!! Fixed now. Thx you all.
Woohoo!!
here's what happened.
I found out that my smsc number in phone information is 00. So that's wrong. Then i go Googling for my service provider's smsc number on the net and found this
+60193900000
So I've copied to phone info, but it turns out that it can't be updated. So i use my friends number, which have the service, did the 4636 thingy, go to his phone info, updated his smsc and copied the numbers appeared to my phone info. The number is different from what i found in google even though it's smsc. I don't understand a hell about it.
But the number appeared on my friend's can be updated.
So that a good news. Next i went to Go Sms's settings -> send settings, paste the number i found in Google earlier to the custom smsc number. And valla, now it works! Im back to my sms-ing life! woohoooo! Thx a lot!!! Love xda family. Hehehee
thx for hearing me out.
peace yo

Let me guess. You messed or pressed refresh on phone information>smsc right? Made that mistake and went to my service provider and they just gave me the right code
Edit: using stock rom i've input the code to 'message centre' in message>menu>settings

Yup,
Probably you messed up message center number. you can find on net or some other mobile , of your service provider.
So, i need to go back to stock rom, or i just need to put the code in smsc?

Well I'll try not to go back to stock rom first. Thx guys, appreciate it. Hehehehee^^

For me i went back to stock because i can't find the message centre in cm9 using the message>menu>settings way..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
If i beckup my current rom, go back to stock, change the settings, then restore my current rom back, so, it'll be back to my unchanged settings right?
I've searched my service provider's smsc. +60193900000
But when i put it in the phone info in *#*#4636#*#*, and update it, it shows update error...

Lately I've noticed my SMS/MMS Notification Sound gets cut off in the middle of playing.
I'm using the "Whistle" notification sound. It worked fine the first day I had my phone (today would be day 5 I've had it)
I've tried restarting the phone, choosing different tones, fixing permissions, clearing caches. So far nothing seems to be working
It looks like it gets cut off when the screen lights up from the notification.
Anyone else having this issue? And if so, have you found a fix (besides using a 3rd party messaging app like Go SMS). I have the Sprint variant, stock rooted (LF9)

Yeah I had the same problem
But it only happened when my wife would text me
I did the same fixes as u did thinking that would work, but it didn't so I erased that contact put it back in and now it works right
Good luck

Wowwwwww you know what? It only happens to me when my girlfriend messages me lol. Wtf? That's so weird! Maybe it has something to do the most frequently messaged person? Gunna delete the contact and test.
Thanks!

It does this If you set a limit for incoming texts and have auto delete on. Erase all the messages when your at the limit and it will go back to normal again

Oh that makes sense. I had my auto delete set @ 120 SMS. So I'm guessing what happens is once the thread hits 120 and you get a new SMS the notification gets interrupted by the system deleting the last message in that thread to make it 120.
Well this is all very helpful. Problem solved. Thanks guys!

Another work around for this is to use zedge to assign your sound. For whatever reason, it bypasses the issue and the sound fully plays when a new message comes in.

Hi, many times I have encountered this issue while in incoming call the phone is ringing, and the phone unexpectedly stopping. I even can't see the miss call or who was calling.
Attached a screen shot.
I cant see any screen shot, are you running a custom ROM?
i would boot into recovery and fix permissions a lot of the time this will fix things like this, if this doesn't work do a factory reset / full wipe and start all over again.

If all else fails full wipe reflash Rom
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I had this with Dragon JB rom.
I had to reflash and NOT use the ICS dialer and use the stock selection in Aroma Installer.
Did u install ice blue theme? Make sure you install latest ics blue theme as I remember this was issue( for JB roms greater than LI2) with version 3 and 4. In 4.1 its corrected.

Find the offending app and clear data. Most likely the phone app. Might help. If not a full wipe is recommended.

I had the same issue. Ended up discovering it was an issue caused by Facebook contact sync. I removed this sync and the problem was resolved. I now use HaxSync to sync contact photos from Facebook.

Since upgrading my phone to the stock jelly bean firmware (rooted) I've noticed one rather annoying bug. When someone rings me, the phone no longer
displays their name & picture - just the number. Exactly as if they were not in my contacts.
But they are.
I also noticed that the sms messaging app want integrating with contacts anymore. I solved this by installing a new app (handcent), but i don't really want to have to install a new dialer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I'm on LJ4 and have the contacts photo showing up when called...
To clarify, the dialer itself is fine - when I'm dialing, it can find my contacts.
It's when I get a phone call. It displays the number, but didn't associate it in any way with any of my contacts.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Im in lj5 and everything works here. Probably you have duplicate contacts somewere.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
yeh duplicate contacts or do a wipe and root it with a decent rom
Am rooted, but want to stay close to stock. Well check to see if there are dupe contacts. Thanks.

Confirming that this problem doesnt exist in lj5!!!
Works perfect for me!!

You have to wait 1 or 2 seconds for the name to show... this happens to me sometimes... not all the time... and not with every contact... but eventually it will show...
It's never shown yet - even after a few minutes.
It does look like a contacts issue. Even I look in the contacts app, there are no duplicates. However, when I try and update a contract from a phone number, it lists a number of extra contacts - including plenty of duplicates.
Not sure how to access these extra contacts normally though...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I think these extra contacts may have been added by syncing Google+ contacts. I actually switched it off fairly early on, but it seems to have corrupted my contacts now...
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Removing the relevant gmail account from my phone & then re-adding it appears to have fixed the problem
