Having recently up-dated my Lumia 800 to the latest "Tango" version (officially via Zune, no custom ROM used), I have found that the following sensors are no longer available to me: Accelerometer, Magnetometer and Proximity. When I run Nokia Diagnostics, it tells me these sensors are not available on my phone .
So, I thought that I would roll-back to the previous "Mango" version and either stay with it or then re-install "Tango". Lumia and PC connected, check. Zune running, check. Zune and phone chatting to each other, check. All good to go. Start the roll-back and........ nothing. On the screen of my phone is the graphic showing that I need to connect PC to phone, which remains in that state for about 10 mins. And when it changes to "Do not disconnect" status, Zune then chimes in and says the roll-back failed and gives me the code 801812E0.
As a last resort, I also did a factory reset. Bye bye all my data (thank God for Re-installer and SkyDrive!!). As you can guess, the sensors are still non-functional. Damn it!
OS version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware : 1750.0805.8773.12220
Bootloader: 7.41.0.0
Has anyone else had this happen or am I on my own? I've searched several forums but so far seem to be the only one that has had this happen. Just for info, all apps are loaded ONLY from the MarketPlace and all up-dates in firmware are the official versions loaded via Zune. Not unlocked or any Homebrew apps, just bog-standard out-of-the-box Nokia Lumia 800.
Any ideas and thoughts on the matter greatly appreciated :good:

Are the sensors present in different apps? For instance, does the compass work in mapping apps, does Photosynth work? Easiest thing would be to visit a nearby Nokia Care Point and ask for a reflash of the firmware.
@ChrisKringel.... Sadly the sensors are totally missing (can't view photos or internet, etc in landscape), the screen remains active when I make phone calls and the compass is missing too, which I first noticed in the update of Nokia City Lens. When I use the Nokia Diagnostics, it says that none of these sensors are present.
Anyway, had a mail from Nokia Support suggesting that I take the steps I had ALREADY told them I had taken. So went to my local Nokia dealer and asked them to make my toy better. Long and the short of it, it has to be sent back to Nokia and will probably be replaced. So for the next 10 days or so I am Lumia-less. Back to my HTC HD2 (which you just can't kill, even after diverse WM, WP7 and Android ROMs). But I so much more prefere WP7 on a native device and the Lumia is a great phone!!

My Experience of Upgrading – thanks to Modaco and XDA Developers - See link for latest update - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1370896&postcount=9
Having just successfully upgraded everything I thought fellow (junior) Hermes owners might like to know of my experience. For those of you about to embark on such a move, and especially for those on T-Mobile UK, you will hopefully find this useful. There are plenty of links throughout this post that should help.
1. Preparation. Having read what felt like all the information here on this forum, and others, I finally decided to start the upgrade work to take my Vario II (UK T-Mobile Hermes) to the latest (phone) radio, the latest Windows Mobile Professional 6 Black Majik build and also to CID and SIM unlock the phone to boot! All without a single problem after a significant amount of reading – but most significantly by simply following the instructions and understanding what they were asking me to do before carrying out what might actually render my Hermes a ‘Brick’ with no warranty! The XDA Dev Hermes Wiki is a great place to start and so is the upgrade guide. Warning: If you are nervous about the upgrade there is a serious amount of reading required to counter those fears.
2. Backing up. I keep very little on the actual device so all I had to do was note all the settings and backup the call records and SMS messages. I used Pim Backup to backup the calls and messages and in fact found plenty of installation .cab files that could be run from the device to restore the T-Mobile settings to allow GPRS, SMS and MMS etc.
3. The Upgrade. I did the upgrade in 7 stages getting more ambitious with each, I did not encounter one single problem and did this over a 3-day period plucking up courage as I went. This is not the optimum path to upgrade but allowed me to get familiar after first protecting my investment with Hard-SPL from OliPro – I also wanted the radio most initially:Insurance 1. Using Paul’s guide I dumped my old T-Mobile supplied WM5 OS ROM so that I had an option to get back to at least the basic WM5 build should I need to consider warranty claims. This worked OK but was undoubtedly the most complicated part of this process that use many quite advanced tools – not for the beginner I would suggest! I doubt that many will do this and I would not recommend it (I can post the dumped ROM) as others already have now) Warning: if done wrong I suspect that this is the most likely part of this process to wreck the device!Insurance 2. Having read the guides (see MrVanx and his Hermes Guide) I upgraded the IPL and SPL with Hard-SPL (thanks Olipro) to avoid ‘bricking’ (wrecking) my phone -took less than 10mins.Radio. The radio was my first upgrade goal because I’d read good things about improved reception etc. So I went straight for the latest extracted radio ROM (1.43.00.00) from the XDA Radio ROM page as this had good reports on UK T-Mobile. - took only 6 mins.WM6. Having read lots (and lots and lots…) I opted for the Black MAJIK ‘cooked’ ROM because it had so many good reviews (see XDA and 4WinMobile and Modaco) and liked the look of it (note: you can easily change the theme away from Black to more conventional appearance). The download site is http://wmblack.info/ and there are lots of applications and configuration files here. (thanks Jasjamming) - after some pre-reading the actual upgrade too only 5 mins!SIM & CID Unlocking. To get access to the extended ROM for additional storage space I had to use Pofs cooked radio ROM to make the device "Super CID" - this also removed the SIM (operator) lock and the CID (language) lock. I was then able to use HTweakC (one of many tweakers) to mount and unlock the ROM. This fix now allows me to use any operator SIM card, install any language OS ROM and also to mount and unhide the Extended ROM (Note: in WM6 it appears that this fix by Pof is required to write to the Extended ROM whereas in WM5 it can be done solely with a registry hack). Thank you Pof because the batch file did it all without problem (albeit I was really quite nervous because the Hard-SPL was removed and the radio downgraded temporarily). - this took a longer 18 mins in total (after reading). – this left me with the wrong radio and the potential to ‘brick’ my device with subsequent upgrades so…..Insurance. I put Hard-SPL back on (to protect the device) before…Radio. Re-upgrading back to the latest radioI now had a perfectly functioning Vario II with all the latest software ROMs installed and it was future proofed against my further upgrades and testing of ROMs that will certainly come after this….
5. Re-Building. I used a .cab file created by Lordsmiff on Modaco (here) to configure my T-Mobile settings and it all worked. I used the backup of the call logs and SMS messages from the Pim Backup software to restore those and then I started the installation of all the software I wanted. Of course I also had to configure pop3 access to my e-mail, enter my correct Device ID and all my personal details.
6. Problems. I had very few problems. The Internet connection would not work for my pop3 account access (OK for web browsing though) and I found that a setting (settings-connections-connections-Advanced (tab) and Select Networks button) needed to be changed to “T-Mobile Internet” from “My Work Network”. Not all of my call log was reinstated so I lost some calls. I also found out initially that I could not get full ‘write/delete’ access to the Extended ROM because it needed to be SIM/CID unlocked (or at leats part of that) before running one of the tweaking programs. That was all!
7. My Software. I installed all my usual software with no problem and all is working very well: Spb Mobile Suite/backup & Diary, SK Tools, TT6, Modaco CamerAware, Comm Manager Pro, and MS Livesearch.
8. Result. All is great so far and I have a nicer looking, slightly faster, better radio reception phone that holds 3G longer. Bluetooth pairing with my handsfree Jabra BT250 is fine and the BT pairing to my GPSlim 240 is OK too. Wifi at home also works without issue (still limited range as before). Yes it all took lots of effort to avoid the problems but it has been a free upgrade and I owe a few donations to those that made this possible – a GREAT BIG thank you to all you cooks and developers out there .
I hope this helps some of you - of course reading the Wiki is excellent free guidance offered by many (some not so politely!)
I’ll report back here on any problems I have and if anyone spots an error then please let me know and I will fix it so I do not mislead others.
EDIT - latest update (all going well) here.
Good Luck!
Nice 100th post, and nice guide as well
Hi

In my original post (at top) I included this:5. Re-Building. I used a .cab file created by Lordsmiff on Modaco (here) to configure my T-Mobile settings and it all worked. It worked absolutely perfctly for me and if you had done so I doubt that you would have had any problems at all.
If you used the cab file and it did not work then please post a reply.
Regards
Tony,
Have you noticed a great deal of difference with the radio upgrade?
thanks

good reference!
@Tony, thanks for the very good detailed outlined upgrade reference. It should be helpful for others to see the complete process from start to finish.
WM5 to WM6 (Black Majik) and the latest (1.43) Radio - UPDATE
This is an update to my original post at the top of these postings
My Black MAJIK Experience - Going well so far!
All going very well still and no problems at all with any software. Some slight slow-down after installing all the software but that is to be expected with any OS build. The main problem with slow-down (only slight) appears to be caused by Today screen plug-ins - the HTC Home Plug-in in particular.
Likes: Very Stable, absolutely no Micro SD card issues (had them with WM5), looks and ease of use of the WM6 Internet sharing capability which even my daughter can share on her Mac laptop!
Dislikes: very few indeed - go for it! There is a newer Black "Satin" in creation (JJ working on this right now) which is based upon the official HTC WM6 build - might try that next when others have posted on their experience. My only small dislike is the lack of contrast on the start menu with the black theme - in bright light it's easy to miss selections.
Problems: On a couple of occasions the speed dials have gone missing (suspect I caused it). I locked-up the device once and had to hard-reset but that was my fault again because I used too many Today screen plug-ins and it would not boot completely. Now have Monocube Safe Mode 2 (recommended) installed and so I can push the limits of Today plug-ins and not fear being unable to boot-up now.
Radio - I had absolutely no problems with the 1.43 radio but of course had to try the even newer 1.47 version. This new one seems little diffrent so far so I'll give a week. Do not forget to check Hard SPL is still on your device before flashing updates - the super CID/SIM unlock removes Hard SPL - so you need to put it back. BTW - there are instructions on how to remove the SIM lock without applying the Super CID fix - they seem more complicated but it might be worth a look before you embark upon the Super CID route.
Unless you see more from me then assume that my experience with Black MAJIK and the latest radios (1.43 and 1.47) are all going well. If you want more detail before embarking then just PM me - but read this whole post first.
Have a look at the Kaiser Homeplug.
problems
I have followed your instructions and installed the new radio and black majik and have used it for a couple of weeks. I have experienced problems with voice calling. The Icon tells me there is no service provider (T-mobile in my case), I can't make voice calls but SMS and internet still work. A hard reset solves the problem - but then I need to reload everything - annoying to do once per week.
I will probably try a different radio, unless people have other ideas?

Working good here on T-Mobile (Aberdeen, Scotland)

Hugh,
I have still had no radio/phone problems at all. If you have the Hard SPL still on the device (it will be unless you did the Super CID bit) then you can just flash new radio ROMs to the device without ANY need for a hard reset. The radio is completely idependant from the OS. It sounds to me like you must either have a radio/phone hardware problem (were there any issues before upgrading?) or the radio flash upgrade was not completed correctly. Did you use the radio ROM linked to from this site?
I'd suggest that you check HardSPL is there then simply run the radio ROM update again. Providing you do this correctly and do not brick your device by doing something silly - like disconnecting USB or power - the upggade of radio should have no impact upon the data or programs installed on your device - and that also includes all your SMS/MMS, E-mail and Conenctions settings.
Good luck
Hi guys,
I've got an issue with my HTC S740 with the GPS
I've got Garmin Mobile XT and my GPS never find any satellite.
On the GPS settings, the GPS is setup on COM4:COM4: (the other choice is COM7:COM7, but Garmin is always setting automatically on COM4)
Even with GoogleMaps, the GPS is not recognize (I mean not signal)
As I cannot change or find the port used by the GPS, do you have any idea to make the GPS running onb my dear Rose ?
Thx
Murray Bozinski
are you in a building?
i had the same problem but after 2 resets it started working again... dont know what caused it but i think it might be 2 apps using the same port?

I already try to reset my Rose, but no success... I also try the "Microsoft_Smartphone_GPSID_Settings.cab" but the program said "You've got insufficient privileges" when I click on apply...
That's so strange
Ok, I'm getting crazy now...
Here is the summarize of the diffrent tests i've done :
ROM version : 1.14.406.0 (10/27/08)
Inital Config :
Launching QuickGPS
Tried to use the GPS with GoogleMaps and Garmin Mobile XTwith default config
After 45mn outside, no signal
GPSID Settings :
After installing GPS Intermediary Driver (GPSID), i tried to change the baud rate to 4800 (was set to 300) or change the tick box "Manage Automatically". When I click on "Done", I get an error message "An error occured in Settings.exe...". On "Details", i get an NullReferenceException in DoneButtonClicked() function.
And when I try to change the hardware port, i've got another error message : "You have insufficient permissions to map the hardware port"
GPS Test :
Ok, i don't give up, I tried GPS Test 1.04
Hard reset and installed GPS Test
So it found the Port4 as a GPS receiver, but it couldn't get any signal
The first time, it found one or two satellites but the color remains yellow, "GPS Starting up", with "Fix 1D"
So still no signal in GoogleMaps, neither Garmin
Please, I really need some help !!!
Any idea are welcome
IMHO it definitely looks as an hardware failure. Static and under open sky it shouldn't take more than 75 seconds to localize (cold start, without A-GPS). Normally if I start GPS within Google Maps it takes less than 10 seconds to get position.
At least you probably won sad prize having first Rose with HW failure (as far as I know from all s740 related forums which I read).
I had the same issue. Tried GPSID, Google Maps (0 satellites), GPS Test (stucked on COM4)... Nothing worked. (I was always trying it outside for a few minutes with QuickGPS updated. My other phone got the fix within 15 seconds)
Today I master reset the phone, set date, updated QuickGPS, installed Google Maps... Fix within 15-20 seconds.

What's finally bad news (sorry Murray ). For me that means - GPS radio in Rose (at least using default ROM) may freeze and stop responding to OS for unknown reason.
In the best case (a bit funny), it's sensitive to proper time/date/timezone setting...
Guys, I decide to go back to the shop where I bought my phone and they said this is the second Rose they received with the same issue.
So they give my money back and I finally deceided to buy a Palm Treo Pro.
I'm a bit disapointed with HTC (my previous S730 was really bad quality)
Now I'm very happy with the TP
Thanx for your support
Murray Bozinski
i think that this is software problem
my gps disappears too when I change my ROM to Orange Orange_UK_1.17.61.2
previous version works fine with GPS
and there is no any GPS software (like GoogleMaps) in Orange ROM.
So if your ROM is Orange too - this may be ROM bug
I try to change ROM to stock 1.14.707.0 soon
hi all, i had the same gps issue and could not get a fix using googlemaps and some other software amazegps, . i tried several hard resets but nothing seemed to work.
after a few days of investigation i bought copilot 7 from a guy on ebay, hard reset again.... then booted her up. after 5 minutes i had a fix and was being directed down my road.. written on my favourite htc phone so far... s740
Never get gps
My Rose buy in Portugal in November has the same problem. Never get any signal sattelites(fix).
Rose version: 1.14.401.1
Rom data: 10/06/08
Radio version: 0.24.30.24
My first ROM (beta 1.07) was russian with Google-maps pre-installed. GPS works fine
then I try to change it to Orange UK 1.17 ROM. There is no built-in GoogleMaps and GPS doesn't work
I try to use stock english ROM 1.14. In this case there is no GoogleMaps and GPS doesn't work too
Yesterday I found russian rom 1.14 and try it. This ROM has pre-installed version of GoogleMaps and.. GPS works!
So in my opinion there is no GPS driver or something else in some ROMs. But if ROM must have pre-installed GPS software then GPS driver of course exists and everything works fine
I can take link to russian 1.14 ROM to compare it with english 1.14 ROM
Looks like mine works too after a Hard Reset with Google Maps, GPSTest and gpsVP. Interesting...
i work with Garmin XT and Mc Guider and no problem.
my settings is
Port: COM 4
Baud : 19200
GPS on my Rose worked fine after hard reset but I didnt use the phone for few weeks, installed some new software and then it stopped working once again.
Fortunately I was able to fix that just changing the port number and restarting.

Awaiting Better GPS Accuracy
My question to HTC Customer Service:
GPS radio in my HTC s740 freezes and stop responding during undefined time. For example, when I use Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile 5.00.20w GPS works, but suddently it writes: "Awaiting Better GPS Accuracy" and stop responding during undefined time. Google Maps have this problem too. Hardware reset cannot help, may be it's ROM software error? My HTC Rose have СЕ OS 5.2.20279 (Build 20279.1.3.4), Radio Version 12.23.30.06H_0.24.30.24. Rom version: 1.14.402.0 (25.10.2008). Send me please ROM upgrade or specify another method to resolve this problem. Thanks!

My answer to HTC Customer Service:
The same problem with GPS also have some my friends (s740 model seller: Latvia Mobile Telephone, www.lmt.lv ). You can find the same problem at internet forums, for example here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465564 May be it's a global problem for all s740 phones (hardware or software)? I know, that new models of HTC Rose have new ROM, for example: RUU_Rose_HTC_RUS_1.14.411.1_Radio_sign_12.23.30.06_0.24.30.24_CRC_Ship Can you help me more seriously? It seems that we haven't a HTC local customer in Latvia. Thanks for answer.

Hard reset do not resolve this problem. It's ROM or hardware internal bug (see my post to HTC support). Try to change GPS COM port to COM8: (for exampe, via Resco Registry):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver
\Multiplexer
DriverInterface = COM8:
5 days it works ОК on my HTC Rose, may be it's a slolution of GPS freezing problem? Please write here if this solution helps you...
P.S. May be somebody says about this actual problem to HTC support?
I received my Titan device recently and since then the device's camera is not working properly.
When I got the phone the camera was acting superb and I tested it by taking a few shots and a movie roll (all max quality). After the phone did a reboot over night due to drained battery the camera app began to show a black screen instead of a preview and hang up or crash when pressing the shoot button.
I called up the HTC support center in my country and was told that this is a common and known issue with Windows phones and is caused by 3rd party apps using the window's camera API. I got instructed to do a factory resetand afterwards, the camera did work properly, but again for a few shots (obviously after ending the phone call with them ).
So I decided to investigate the matter.
On my phone were installed the 'Skype','Whatsapp' and 'Mykebo free' apps before the reset, none of which seem to have a connection to the camera API (I didn't use Skype's video feature). This made my suspect the HTC's camera control software that maybe interferes somehow with the camera.
I began resetting my device and checking when the camera starts to fail.
Doing a couple of resets I saw that the camera started to fail after connecting the phone to the PC and disconnecting it while the camera app was working (the app itself does not run but shows the Zune 'disconnect to view media' screen). But on the last reset the camera didnt even start.
I am really confused since it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue (the photos were taken perfectly) but neither a camera API malfunction since the phone is used widely and even a best photo competition exists on this forum.
I want to avoid using my warrenty since it includes sending the phone abroad and is a bit costly for me..
Any ideas on what to do next? could it be that the ROM flushed in the phone is corrupt in any way?

Flash its with your device OEM .nbh .... If you haven't done that then maybe something is wrong with an API etc so flashing it might solve the problem.

I will try this out now.
I noticed that on the factory reset menu there is an option to show the OS CRC.
I recieved the values:
BL CRC-0x439025DD
OS CRC-0x6A9EA866
are this OK? the phone is fully patched.

I did a flush and the camera doesn't work at all, seem like this is a hardware failure :\
Thanks!
Recently I brought my lumia 800 to nokia care as speaker was having problem. They wipe all my data (claimed that they will update my software even after I said it had latest update). Since than it's having problem accessing Marketplace/Zune Music/Xbox Live in random times. Every other app work fine, just can't access those 3 apps unless I restart the phone. Any idea how to fix that?

show it to nokia centre again to flash it or just hard reset phone
Could some nice person check my Firmware and Label ID's etc. vs. your flash?
My AT&T 920 is an indeterminate state (4 hours of spinning gears, reboots, etc.).
Everyone I know has a Microsoft Build device (and got the update weeks ago). So I think our versions are different / not comparable.
Apps like Nokia Pro Camera say I'm not up to date (i.e. go to Phone Update and check!).
But I'm on Amber (Extras + Info says so). And I don't see FM Radio, double-tap to wake for Glance doesn't function.
I thought Data Sense would be here, but I saw a post that it is not (however Microsoft Build 920's on AT&T DO have Data Sense)... so I guess I'm mistaken.
My OS Version: 8.0.10211.204
Firmware revision Number: 1232.5962.1314.0001
Radio software version: 1.0.20209MT.3
Manufacturer Name: RM-820_nam_att_100
Label ID: 1232.5962.9200.10211.158
App version: 3.0.6.1
I'm guessing if I flatten my phone, I might get it to work.
Maybe?
I just updated mine to amber last night
OS Version says - 8.0.10328.78
Firmware Revision # - 3046.00001.1326.00003
Radio Software - 1.0.202130.3
...so something is different.
Similar Issue
I received the notification that there was an update available last night. I performed the Amber update but after rebooting my phone, I don't have any of the apps or enhancements expected with Amber. I don't have data sense, pro camera, glance screen, double tap to wake feature etc. My Extras + Info screen does not say "Amber" on it. But my firmware version and OS version are correct.

This update is driving me nuts. How do I start over?
I know that the Pro Cam you have to download from the store...it doesn't come with the Amber update. The rest...I have no clue.
Uh oh...
Thank you for posting the rev numbers. My Live Tiles stopped updating reliably a few months ago (problem appeared to be tied to Chronos Calendar - which then fixed itself, then broke again). Any number of things could be wrong inside (unwriteable files?)...
I wonder if I have the complete update on the phone and a Hard Reset will set it right like in the old Tilt days...
I guess there's nothing left but to try... I can't get it to re-apply an update selectively that I know of (without flattening the phone).
Thanks again!

OK, so I "fixed" my phone (by totally re-flashing it). This Nokia Software Updater for the Retail outlets made it super easy.

Here's what is weird about the re-flash...
So my "Amber Info" totally changed. As did my Glance options.
Prior to the flash, Glance actually had an extra option called "Peek". Now it doesn't.
I do have FM Radio, and my Display + Touch controls appear consistent with what should be there.
Double-tap to Wake from Glance still doesn't work though.
Anyway... the restore from backup process was not totally smooth. My text messages restored from November 2012. So something must have been brewing for quite some time.
At least it's back!
Live tiles work again!
