Found a external battery pack that will charge our TF101 - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

The Anker 10000mAh external battery pack will charge our beloved TF101 because it is the only one that has a 9v or 12v output option on it. The battery pack comes with most of the connections but the only additional thing that you will need to purchase is a USB 3.0 F to F coupler.

Voila!!! I am using this battery pack to charge 4 different accessories without having to bring along 4 different wall adapters.

Very cool man, thanks for sharing might have to get myself one.

Sweet! You've already tried it and its working? Just wondering, because in the description it says.

So you're using the 9-12v barrel output to a usb then the coupler? I have an xpal that has a 9-12 and i've been looking around for a similiar cable solution, mind posting a pic of the thing rigged up?

Sure, I can take some pics of the set up but I'm not home right now. Check back in this thread tomorrow and it should be up by then..

For fone_fanatic, I dunno what energized pack you were looking at,but I own two xp8000 packs and I went ahead and ordered the fem-fem adapter, rigged it up like so and it does indeed charge both the dock and the tablet.

Dead asus tf101 tablet battery
Would you suggest i buy this external battery pack or buy a new battery? Not sure if the battery is completely dead to revive with charge?

Is there any reason the F to F adapter needs to be USB 3 vs 2? I know I need to use a USB 3 extension cable to deliver the correct signals to the Asus charger to output full current but with a battery pack there's no need I can see.

This is really confusing
They list it as 10Ah, but it has different voltages.
is it 10Ah at 5v, 9v, or 12v?
if it's 10Ah at 5v thats only 50wh, not a huge improvement considering you can carry a smaller charger instead, 16 hours more battery, basically a second tablet + dock cycle
if it's 10Ah at 9v that's good - 29 hours more.
if it's 10Ah at 12v, take my money? 38 hours more.
Sorry if I'm being a downer about the first one, you guys have to remember those 500 cycles will go quicker the lower the capacity is. It could cap off at about 5000 hours before the battery stops holding charge.

I wouldn't buy it

DC Power Jack??

Anyone been able to find a genuine Asus Car charger? I have several DC to USB adapters but when I plug them in the Prime doesn't register a charging battery. There are after market ones but I'm afraid they may not work like the ones I have tried.
Most car chargers are in the 5V range, while the Transformer Tablets need a 12V charger. Not sure where to find those though, but I've never looked. I just use an inverter and whichever AC charger I need if I'm in need of power.

I purchased the one from Amazon and when I plug it into my Prime, the prime locks up. Has anyone else encountered this?

The Prime needs 15v in order to register charging status. Most care adapters will only deliver 5v since that is the voltage expected by most USB devices. The Prime will charge from 5v however the device will need to be completely turned off, and it will take a long time (~20ish hours) to go from depleted to full charge.
I don't know if there are any 12v to USB adapters that will really meet the power requirements for full-charging the Prime because the Prime's power requirements are fairly unique. If you really need to charge your Prime from your car you might be better off using the Prime's normal charger with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-inverter-motolora-blackberry-notebook/dp/B003Q54V88/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1
They are available on ebay, you will probably have to import one from hong kong, it is essentially a 12V to usb adaptor, the one I bought was packed with a asus plug aswell. It puts 12volts onto the usb adaptor.
The prime does not need 15V to charge, it will charge at about 11.8. Mine charges fine in my car with the engine running i.e alternater putting out 13.2 volts but the prime starts spitting a dummy when the engine stopped as the battery voltage is right on the threshold. The only way around is to shut down the prime before stopping the engine and then it will happily continue charging on ~12 volts.
The Prime requires 15v to charge at a normal rate. It will charge at 12v albeit at a slower rate. Normal USB output is 5v.

Yes, I bought the same one and my Prime locks up and reboots a few times. Never tried it again after it did that.
I played around with the cable which came with the car adapter and found that it would not work with the transformer prime. I hope to test the cable with came with the TP and the car adapter. Will report my findings later.

Battery Pack Compatibility with Tab 2 7.0?

I currently have an older 1800mA Kensington battery pack which drains the power on my Tab like nobodies business. I've been looking at a replacement, and have read conflicting reports of these working/not working. Anybody have one that can confirm works with the Tab 2 7.0?
And if it does work, are you using the stock cable?

Might not be what you wanted as this only has 5Ah capacity for its 3,7v internal battery, but Sanyo Eneloop KBC-L2B does the job albeit with only 1A ouput (half the original charger rate).

Ouch, that is quite expensive (or least the one I've found on Amazon is)!
But thanks for confirming there is an alternative, and maybe hope for one of the 2 devices I'm looking at.
Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh specifications page reveals only 1A output at 5V, meaning it may or may not work depends on the room temperature.
As written on the Tab's original charger, the power controller on the tablet can pull out as much as 2A power from a charger. This means that on a charger (either portable or wallmount) that's only rated at 1A, the charger will work at its maximum capacity. It will all comes down to the build quality of the charger, and mostly its heat dissipation capability. If the charger gets too hot, it will cut of its power.
With that being said, you may wan't to stay away from Incredicharge. There's no written spesification nor contact number on the official page. Getting this is gambling based on customer reviews only.
You might wan't to scout some more alternatives, preferably one with a minimum of 2A output. But if it comes down to those two, Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh is the better bet.
NB : Original cable works fine.
NB : Just reread my reply, i sound like an old man talking to his grandchild Really sorry about that.
Both of these provide 2A output.

Ha! No problem on the "advice", and I can probably guarantee I'm older than you, so I'm the one that feels like the grandfather!
I don't think voltage is a major concern, its more the fact that I've read that some Samsung devices simply won't charge because of the data/info being sent from the battery via the cable. Amazon is full of "This doesn't work", which I take with a grain of salt most of the time, but there are enough references to the Galaxy Tab to make me think there might be something in it here.
Either way, I've left it too late to make a decision this time, so I'll revisit when I get back from my travels. Thanks!
I have an isound 8000 mAh external battery. the owners manual says 2.1A output. I have charged my gTAB 2 7.0 (p3110) and my galaxy s (gt-i9000) both from around 15% battery life to full with one light left on the external battery.

Asus Transformer USB Car charger!

I just ordered this one.
Input: 10~16V

From the pictures it looks like it has an extra USB connector for your other devices, like your phone or whatever. Can't really tell if that extra USB connector outputs the same power? Will 15V be overkill for my phone?

hello, i would like to say, the car charger only have charging function, it's do not have any usb port.
as something still unclear, i would like to give tested answer.
Not sure how they are claiming 15v output when most vehicle systems are 12v?? The alternator may be putting out slightly higher voltage to charge the car's battery but all you should be seeing at the accessory terminals in 12v
Personally, I use a "GTMax Metalic Red 2-Port USB Car Charger" from Amazon with my usb cord. That charger has two usb ouputs, one rated 1 amp that can be used with most cell phones and the other output rated at 2.1 amps for tables. Cost was only $8 and if you want, you can pick up another usb charging cord for around $6

Seriously? Just because you can't figure it out doesn't mean it can't be done. Spark plug voltage is 20,000 volts.
The Power supply socket in the car will output 12v which will certainly work. 5 - 11v = Trickel charge. 11 - 15v = fast charge.

The fact that the car battery is rated for 12vdc means nothing(while charging 14.4vdc). You can convert any voltage to another voltage with a step up/down converter. Only thing to keep in mind is current usage, ie. 50vdc with 100watts converted to 100vdc would = 50watts usable for the most part.

That could be because you had a low amp charger. The same happened to my SGSII with a regular .5A charger, but I got a 1A one that could keep it from discharging.

You will be sruprised if you use a current monitor. I only have used "Current Widget". You will be surprised how many chargers and cables charge below 1/2 amp while others charge at almost an amp. You can test all of your chargers and cables this way. For example I have a wall charger with a long cable, with what looks like very small wires, suggesting a low charge, but it actually charges at 1000 ma, much better than some really short cables i have. Also apparently if the data signal is shorted in the cable or in the charger it will tell the phone to charge near an amp.
I also have a charger in my car that has a usb connection that says 1a and 2.1a. The 1 amp charges at almost 1 amp while the 2.1a charges at a 1/2 amp. If you dont use the amp app to see this you would never know and be charging your phone at the slower rate
Just for clarification 1a(amp) = 1000 ma(milliamp), 1/2a = 500 ma

It looks pretty good!!!!!! but I charge my Note3 with the original charger (2A/5v). Thanks for your post.
The original stock charger 5.3V 2.0A is the fastest, it was made for the note 3, even a 5V 2.0A will be slightly slower.
Do also note that the cable plays an important part in the charging time especially in my case where I'm using a third party cable and charger.
Using the following app, it can show how much current it's currently charging. Here mine, post yours if higher then mine. Can someone post the screenshot using the original samsung usb cable and charger as a reference too?

Just got my Note 3. It charges at 1800mAh on the stock charger (see pic).
It's weird though, because my Galaxy S4 charges at 1900mAh on its stock charger. I assumed that with USB 3.0, the Note 3 would somehow charge at a faster rate.

Thanks for the info. I tried charging with a third party USB3.0 cable and a third party charger and it did reaches to 1800mAh.
Using USB3.0 and USB2.0 cable does make a-bit of difference.
The upcoming Oppo Find 7 have this 4.5A charger that provide a technology call VOOC charging.

USB 3.0 makes a difference only to data transfer and not charging the battery when compared to USB 2.

You are right. USB 3.0, the latest version of USB (Universal Serial Bus), provides better speed and more efficient power management than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices; however, data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0 levels when these devices inter-operate.
