[ROM][DEV][CM10][Port][Linaro] SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.1 - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hi, I just installed this ROM [ROM][DEV][CM10][Port][Linaro] SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.1 on m Nook Tablet 16gb.
Everything works great, except videos in Netflix won't play. It does have the 3.0 kernel. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this work? Thanks.

That is one of the known issues. No fix at this time.
Sent from my Nook Tablet using xda premium

I loaded the o.2 updated version. Random reboot to black screen in about 5 minutes then went to a B&N screen where it was loading new software, but failed. Endless reboots to the same. I flashed over stock unrooted 1.4.2
If I restore a nandroid backup the NT boot to the restored version from CWM and thereafter back to the trying to installing new software

Did you wipe data/cache/factory reset in CWM? My Nook is truely broken (can't even load an sdcard; I think bootloader is broken)
Oh and BTW, random reboots are kernel related.
Before you go back to stock, please flash stock recovery.

It is stock recovery. Even the B&N Tom wouldn't boot. It did without the SD card installed. I moved all the zip files off the root directory and now it boots regardless of ROM.
I'm safely back to CM7 April 24th build. It has been flawless. Wifi comes back after sleep and everything I use is stable.
CWM on a SD saved may Bacon many times. I assume you have one. If that won't boot I don't know what to suggest. Is it broken enough to get a warranty replacement?
Bill

Whatever you do to your bootloader you always be able to boot from ext-sdcard.
So try another one and have ready a bootloader img to flash back to yours

Major problems with [ROM][DEV][CM10][Linaro] SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.1
Hi, I was able to root my Nook and go into recovery by formatting the SD card to do it using these directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466583. I then installed SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.1. The issue is that Recovery doesn't work in this ROM, and internal storage doesn't mount. So, I really want to upgrade to SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.3, which will hopefully resolve these issues that I'm having*The issue is that there is only 62MB left on the SD card after I format it to be a Recovery card, even though its a 16gb card. So, I can't put the SGT7 Jelly Bean Rom 0.3 zip on the card. I can't flash from the internal drive, even though the zip file is on there, because it won't mount.
So, I'm really, really stuck with a Nook that halfway works. I have banged my head against this for hours and I have made no progress. Someone please point me in the right direction here. Thanks so much.

SGT7 Install
Downloading all necessary files to try SGT7. Anyone get it working and have some feedback? I hear it is the best CM10 mod right now.

SGT7 Install
I installed it a few days ago and it is working fine for me for the most part. It does go to black screen on occasion but it seems to be when I leave the WIFI on. Also, since I do use it primarily as a reader with Moon+ Reader I have noticed that the CM10 is not as smooth as CM7 when doing page turns for instance. There seems to be more stuttering with this version than the nice, smooth flow of CM7.
I like the look and extras that come with Jelly Bean though so will continue to use it for now and wait on update and keep trying.

(Q) trying to install vegan tab gingeredition experimental and gapps

I downloaded the files from the thread in the development forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951822. I tried doing the steps listed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245 and could not get it to work. When I rebooted the Gtab, it would just hang at the Viewsonic bird screen for about 15-20 minutes. I tried a few times and the same thing happens each time. I then used the stock 3588.zip to go back to the stock rom and the Gtab booted fine. I have since followed the online video to install tnt lite 4.2 and I substituted in 4.4 but I was successful in making this work and the Gtab booted just fine into TNT lite 4.4. Can anyone explain to me why I am having problems with Vegan tab? Or at least maybe someone could walk me through the steps..
Thanks!

Yup same thing happened to me. Vegan 5.1x works and none of the gingerbread ones.
I repartitioned 2048/0
Reformat tool
reinstalled stock
Did above without reinstalling stock
My original tab works great for the gingerbread roms, while the woot batch does not. (have had 2 cross my desk so far, we bought a lot of them for work purposes)
It's not horrible because vegan 5.1.1 works and that is fine.
Asop (both variants) don't work
vegan gingerbread experimental doesn't work
CM7 RC 3 + RC4
they all hang during the viewsonic birds screen.
The only thing I have not tried, is not using the update method for installing CW .8 bekit, but trying the old nvflash method instead.
So I may break that out and give it a whirl in a bit... But this one has me baffled. Prolly need someone with higher android IQ

Thanks for the response. I talked with my brother who also bought from the woot sale just like myself and you and he successfully put the vegan gingeredition experimental on his. He was walking me through it the way he did it and it hung for me at the viewsonic screen but his works just fine... Kind of weird I think. Anyone have any options or instructions for us?
I just installed Vegan-Tab 5.1 beta with the supplement and it worked fine. I am up and running with zero problems. I am still stumped on why the Vegan Tab ginger edition experimental will not work. It just sits at the Viewsonic screen. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Well here is another one to add to the mystery.
Networking guy came in just now cause stock was FC on installation screen. So I used the sd card cw install.
Partitioned to get rid of FC
mounted as USB in CW
added rom + kernel + gapps
flashed all 3 of them
Bingo - tablet booted up...
now I am really scratching my head.
Tried gingerbread asop + gapps + pershot booted the first try.....
So 2 tablets no gingerbread love 3rd tablet installed perfectly the first time.
I got one of the woot batch and am running the vegan experimental without an issue.
Actually, one issue I've found is that once i activated airplane mode it greys out the option so you can't turn it off. I can go into settings and enable the wireless, but the airplane icon becomes a permanent fixture in the notification bar.

Im pretty sure its the bootloader at this point. Need to update to 3588 (first before putting on CW .8) I'm thinking that the gingerbread roms just don't run on 33xx though they work perfectly on the original bootloader.
Will see if I can find a volunteer today to test this on (been just pushing 5.1.1 since it worked on all the tablets).
I think Roebeet has a package that updates to 3588s bootloader so will give that a whirl today.

I have had the same issue. Got my GTab from woot installed Vegan 5.1.1 and it is running great. I've tried just about every gingerbread rom and it always hangs up on the viewsonic screen.
I did find this post but haven't tried it yet. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015286&page=2

after much experimentation, It's the internal cw package. If you use the sd card method or use NV flash gingerbread installs just fine.

[Q] Having Many Issues With my Atrix

I have a Motorola Atrix on Bell (Canada), and for the past few months it's been running perfectly on a ICS version of Paranoid Android with no issues. I recieved a 32gb SD card for xmas, and I was reinstalling the ROM to move it to internal storage so that I can use my SD Card for music. I decided that since I was reinstalling the ROM I may as well get a new one, so I got the Paranoid Android JB ROM. I installed it to internal storage, with the tweaked body option, and it worked fine. Then I used the option chooser and installed some gapps like the play store, maps, youtube, as well as nova launcher and adobe flash, then rebooted. I first noticed that the wi-fi isn't working. It gets stuck at 'turning on wifi'. Also, none of the gapps were installed, just the launcher. The main issue, is that every couple minutes the phone will shut off. It also takes much longer than usual at the M screen (30-60 sec). It seems to turn off whenever I press the power button to wake it, whenever I plug in or unplug the device, and occasionally just randomly when the device is in use.
The phone is semi-operational right now besides having no Play store and the very frequent shut offs. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried a few different JB ROMs and they all have the shutting off issue, but Paranoid Android seems to be the only one with the Options chooser not working correctly.
Flashed back to the CM7 ROM Neutrino 2.9 . Works perfectly. Still though, is there any reason the JB Roms won't work for me? I know I've tried one in the past and it worked fine, but didn't want to keep is since is was still in Alpha at the time.

All ICS/JB ROMs are in early beta still. They're stable, just lacking hardware acceleration.
Did you do proper wipes and format /system partition before installing? Did you re-downloading the ROM and installing again? Did you try CM10 build from EPinter's? Sounds like your using Aroma installer, try flashing normal zip files for gapps, never had issues.
A lot of people are running CM10 as daily without issues, so retrace your steps to see if you overlooked anything.

it is in slot one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028020 followed all the instructions, installed safestrap, verified MD5 of the rom, etc.
if you are on ICS, make sure you are downloading and flashing ICS Kernel only one. if not use the other?
I had to delete and re-create the Rom Slot, then it was ok. I skipped installing GApps for the 1st boot, then went back to do them.
Ok sorry its taken so long for me to reply, turns out i needed the ICS kernel. Wow i feel like an idiot.

You can't go back to the ICS kernel, right? And by installing the leaked VZW OTA JB that puts me permanently on the JB kernel?

i never left the ICS kernal, because of how this rom gets installed (check the thread i linked) i have the stock verizon ICS installed, and cyanogenmod 10.1 (android 4.2 jelly bean) i can freely switch back and forth.
to answer your second question, as far as i know, no one has yet found a fastboot image for the stock ICS or gingerbread, so you are SOL with returning.
I just installed the build for the JB kernel posted today; http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/spyder/cm10.1
It seems so smooth! But the camera still FCs, and gallery complains that there's no external storage attached. I should add that after restarting, it took a moment for it so see that I indeed had a sim card installed.
I installed the latest JB kernel release, and the camera is still force closing, citing "Gallery has stopped." So while the camera and gallery don't work, I can still use "QuickPic" to look at gallery itesm like my pictures.. and uh.. porn. (Yes yo do!)
I'm having the same issues. Installed CM10.1 nightly today, with up todate gapps, install went smoothly as did setup. However, now that I'm trying to set up the phone (i.e. restoring apps from titanium) it shows that ext sd is not mounted. Same issues of gallery saying "No external storage available" and camera FCing due to gallery stopping.
I feel theres something I should be doing to my SD but not sure what.
Also, I'm running Jellywiz on another slot, as my daily driver before I can set thsi up, but am worried if i start messing with the SD, it might affect that ROM.
Has anyone found a way to resolve the ext SD issue?

[Q] Stable 4.2 ROM Suggestion

Hello Gang,
A friend of mine just got a I500 from his carrier, brand new, as an upgrade from his non-smartphone phone. But, it is running 2.x. He asked me to update the firmware and he doesnt mind an aftermarket one, but I personally want your input to see which one out there is a more....bare bones firmware with no major setting that could confuse or frustrate him (ie...theming, overclocking, etc).
Ive seen Helly Bean and even the standard CM10.1, Gee Whiz? I dunno. Kinda hoped for a TouchWhiz ROM for him.
Thanks,
Paul.....
Well I'd say (in no particular order )
geewiz,,, super nexus,,, carbon,,, or cm10.1.
But you are not going to go wrong with any of them
if you wanna get him a TouchWiz ROM, look at RemICS JB. it's based off of Touchwiz 5 and looks quite a bit like a GS3/Note 2.
i've had the most success with cm10.1. GeeWiz uses Samsung's RFS file system, so you may see improved performance in that, or more things working.

man, i'm loving helly bean. came back to it tonight after cm7 was having some issues (wifi was being really flaky) and it's fantastic. the things Devil Kernel can too is overwhelming yet amazing
this is the first time i've ever seen this phone run jelly bean 4.2.2, which has its problems, absolutely perfectly. even on my old class 2 SD card. @hhp_211 i proved you wrong man lol

Glad you got it!
+1 for helly, it's been my daily rom for awhile now. Tried all the latest but have always returned to hellybean. Hoping for a 4.3 from the devil!
I've been using Helly Bean as my daily driver for a long time and I love it. Once in a while I'll flash the CM10.1 nightly to see how it's doing, but I always seem to have some weird issue or another that makes me go right back to the stability of HB. My only issue with HB is that after using it for a week or so it starts to bog down quicker and quicker. I have to reboot at least once a day now to keep it snappy, whereas when you do a fresh install you can go days without a slowdown. It's not really a huge deal though, and it's still the #1 rom imo.
uh-oh...
Hey Guys,
I flashed Helly Bean via Guide I found here.....and It had no data connection now. I checked through the setting and it's on AUTO mobile networks etc.
Now if I revert back to the Original VZW ROM as indicated in the Guide I do get the connectivity back. Suggestions??

i have also had data on helly bean whenever i flashed it. try reverting back to stock (it should reflash the EH03 radio as well, my personal recommendation for fassy radios), putting Helly Bean on the phone's SD card (along with Ultra Slim Gapps, not regular Gapps) and then follow these steps:
1. open Odin and put the phone in download mode
2. flash ClockWorkMod 4 fixed for CM7
3. close odin, eject phone, open odin, insert phone
4. flash GBBootloaders
5. close odin and eject phone
6. reboot the phone into recovery, wipe data/factory reset and go to advanced>wipe dalvik cache
7. flash the ROM (it'll boot into its recovery on its own, let it be)
8. flash the Ultra Slim Gapps
9. reboot
Sorry, "Stable Roms" conversation is too close to "Best Roms " conversation. As all roms are, or could be, stable for some, but not others.
Users are expected and encourage to read and learn on their own to make these determinations.

Having a lot of trouble with CM12

I am currently running CM11 and dealing with a lot of the problems that cm10 had. So tried CM12. Basically dead in the water. Never got past registration.
Very sluggish and the keyboard keeps disappearing. The installation of CM11 went pretty smoothly following the install instructions. Not so with CM12.
Maybe there is something I am missing. The instructions say that repartitioning is not necessary !?!??!
Anyway followed the instructions to the letter. Got the suggested recovery and flashed it just like on cm11. The correct gapps to use is always a crap shoot so I tried several. I even installed without gapps still had problems.
So any help here would be appreciated.
thanks
I have been testing CM12 for a few weeks and have a few of the same problems. It seemed like at first it was pretty snappy, but now it's sluggish, keyboard disappears constantly, and my biggest pet peeve is that quite a few of my apps are now unavailable for this device. They worked before, so it's a bug in CM or one of the newer Android versions. I'm just going back to an older ROM for now.
Hi cosmic_kid
I'm asking these same questions in the cm12 QA and dev pages and not getting anywhere. They all tell me to go read some more or stop being rude !?!??!?!
I am currently running cm11 and only have the usual problems just like cm10 had. i.e. battery, black out, losing wallpaper.
So I thought cm12 should be a piece of cake !!! NOT SO !!
There must be something different with the install that is screwing something up.
I tried the recommended eng recovery and the latest TWRP and CWM. Same results. After gapps is installed things go to heck.
I did try running cm12 before installing gapps and it ran smooth. After gapps sluggish and never got past registration. Keyboard never came up !?!?!?
I don't know what to do so I will download the latest nightly and try again.
I Feel Your Pain!
Guys, I know exactly how you feel. I merged the partitions according to the other posts, formatted cache and userdata to f2fs and tried all the nightlies that came out, but keyboard problems, superuser problems and setup crashes just made it impossible to get anything going on my trusty 8gb Nook (BNTV250A). The closest I got to getting anywhere with CM 12 on it was when I updated the CM 12 March 26th nightly on CM 11-M12 and added pa_gapps-modular-nano-5.0.1-20150315-signed. Play store worked, I was able to get into developer options and enable root access and it looked hopeful, but alas it was so slow and lagging that I have given up for now. I used repart.img to go back to stock, (touch pad didn't work on stock since I had upgraded to 10 touch!) booted off SD and installed CMW recovery to restore my CM 11 -M12 configuration. I'm staying in touch through all the threads and hopefully we will one day have a smooth CM12 on our beloved Nooks!
CM12 is now working very smoothly on my 16gb nook. I didn't have to repartition anything. I just about got rid of my 16gb nook because it's older and slower than the newer 8gb nook. Glad I didn't.
So until there is a "how to" thread on how to get it to work on the 8gb nooks I will be using the older one.
The devs said that they didn't have a 8gb model to test their nightlys on. I'm wondering if they test them at all ???
What did you do to get it to run smoothly? I have the 16GB and it slows down all the time with CM12. I read gapps causes a lot of head-aches so I've been tempted to run without it and just side-load all my apps... :/

pico gapps and Demetris' 16GB CM12 with the Tricker Mod stuff = faster than they day I bought it.
Now I just need 8GB working the same, since I have two of those!
