SGS 9300 UHS speed - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I just received my Sandisck 64GB UHS-1 SDXC card.
Everything is fine, but speed.... it is just 10mb/s, but on PC it can do easily 25-30mb/s.
Is there any problems with my phone, I mean - do i need any specific mod or patch for it?
because it is sad to have good card and slow phone
thanks for replies

If your card is genuine don't worry about the speed, it will work good, the speed varies depending on the scenario.

Been using the 32gb for a while now with no problems, I have 14.93gb on it at the moment though. I'll keep an eye on it when I get passed 16gb, hopefully it will be ok, thanks.
So the final answer is yes or no?? Cause I might buy it with the cheap price....

I am using about 1 year Lexar 32GB Class 10 without any problems. YOu must buy some good brand card, because most of no-name Chinese memory cards doesnt work or works badly ....
I have had a 32gb in my x10 for the past 3 months. No problems. Joyce Mayne is still selling some for around $45 here in townsville
Mr

Thanks for response, but noone say has used more than 16Gb & still can save on card. SE say X10 can't work with 32gb. maybe works until 16gb is full & after that won't.

Make sure you make lots of folders, otherwise it will slow down your file browser especially if you have a lot of files saved

microsd

can microsd class 4 use in s3?
No, your phone will explode. Class is just speed of the card, every micro sd is supposed to be compatible.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 ♥_♥
Yes. The class only denotes the speed so all classes are compatible with sgs3

It affects the performance this much |_| ...you decide.
Your card might be a class whatever. The output of:
/sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:0/read_ahead_kb
and
/sys/devices/virtual/bdi/179:16/read_ahead_kb
affect the read ahead performance however. The card by itself is a load of old ****.
Ignore the people who have bought themselves a big waste of money.
Huge difference. Stupid serial access synthetic benchmarks as detailed above are of no relevance. Of course faster access medium is better. Like the difference between an HD and an ssd. Anyone saying otherwise has no idea what they are talking about.

Balls.
Proof of any measurable positive impact on an SIII from such a card? Not waffle... proof.
Good luck with that. I have a 32Gb Class 10... no difference whatsoever from a poxy class 2 2Gb card.

Don't be ridiculous. Why not go on and argue that a 2mhz processor is just as good as a 1.4ghz quad core one? Simple logic and a very minor understanding of science will confirm it.
I edited my post as you were posting...
Where is your proof though
I'm not holding my breath though.

Rubbish. Of course a class 2 card is slower than a class 10. Proof? Look at any benchmark or try it yourself. Your argument is akin to arguing that a car with a top speed of 100mph and 0 to 60 of 20 seconds is just as fast as one with a top speed of 200mph and a 0 to 60 of 5 seconds. Get a grip. God there are some muppets on this forum....
It was to my understanding that a class 2 means that it will at least write at 2MB/s. It is by all means not limited to 2MB/s. Am I wrong?

The card doesn't control the read-write rate. The ROM does.
You are correct though. Example: A Lamborghini will do, let's say 180 mph... but the driver may never go above 50.
EDIT: I'm looking forward to seeing Dr Pepper's stats and data though.

Anything above class 4 is a waste of money for me. (class 4 is sufficient for HD recording.)
So in between this argument what do u guys think what should i do should i go for class 2 card or a class 10 ????????
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It doesnt affect the performance because all if the phones data is stored in its internal Card which is much faster than any external card

See.. Cards performance will only be affected if you store game Data on the extsdcard.. Even then class 4 would be good enough.. If you don't want to buy class 10 buy a class 4 sdcard.. You won't notice any major speed differences
Sent from someone in the Milky Way
If you're recording hd video onto your card then you'll be better off with a class 10. Other than that, it won't affect the performance of your phone at all if you get a slower card.

And tranfer files from sdcard to microsd.

I've had lags+stutters while recording video at 1080 and superfine quality directly to my class 6 SD card. Those videos were quite long (10-15 min).
Changing storage location to phone memory removes all the lags. I'm planning to change mine to class 10 soon.
Other than this, I don't see any real performance issue with lower class sd card; at least for me anyway.

MicroSD related problem

I want to share my experience using microsdhc I had been used 32gb class 10 from Team. Used it for about 11 months then died. About 8 months in HTC Desire S without any problem and 3 months in Galaxy S3. I think it died because overheated while backup ROM with recovery. Desire S aluminum body easily dissipated heat then Galaxy S3. That's just opinion.
Sorry for my bad English.

[Q] Fake Micro SD and system speed

Hi guys
I wish to know how much a fake microSD can influence
general System Speed on android devices like our L9.
I've a class 6 microSD 16gb card and i think is fake at 80% because taken it from ebay.
Can you suggest a tool (for windows) to show real class and speed of a card?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! :good::good:
PS
can you post me write/Read result on Antutu?

Try this.
It's not for Windows but an app for the phone itself. I think you'd be better off benchmarking it in the phone anyway since that's where you'll be using it. Good luck.

What you think?

Just Google your self: Class 6 means 6MB/s or more. The picture you attached gives 20MB/s reading and 6MB/s writing, which means it is not a fake.
