Back to stock? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I know since I unlocked the bootloader I cannot have a completely stock experience again, but I'd like to flash the stock ROM with stock kernel. The biggest thing I want is for the device to receive OTA updates when they come.
I am selling this it on Ebay and want the buyer to be able to update if they don't know how to flash custom ROMs.
I found the "Almost Stock" .21 ROM, it comes with Motley kernel. I am ok with this if it will get OTA updates.

As far as i know, once you used the unlock tool you wont be able to receive any OTAs anymore. Unfortunately
Maybe they already found a workaround though, as this knowledge of mine is 1-2 months old

Flash OTA .91 with ability to Downgrade to .83

I am on my second Atrix. I updated the first OTA to .91. I didn't initially care for it, but only tried it for a day or so. Exchanged phone for another problem under 30 day return. New phone downloaded OTA. Rooted to pull off OTA zip to stop update reminders.
I've searched the numerous threads about updating various .91 builds and betas. However, I'm not sure if I can just flash the ATT OTA that i've pulled off in a way that doesn't lock the bootloader to make it difficult to go back to .83. I would think the official .91 would not have problems like i've been hearing with the other builds and betas, or having to go through the trouble of applying a bunch of fixes and patches.
Basically I want to try .91 again without a lot of fuss with the ability to go back to the stock .83 if I really don't like it.

[Q] Thunderbolt is deactivated but want the OTA

Simple question and hopefully different from all the other "It's here!", "Where are our ROM" threads..
I upgraded (if you can call it that) to the Galaxy Nexus literally like a week ago and deactivated my TB but it remains rooted.
Anyone know if there are dangers trying to activate it rooted with the intent to unroot, wait for the OTA, just in the hopes it will sell for more.
Or would you recommend unrooting then activating and then waiting for the OTA?
Hopefully you understand the question. I had the impression from a friend that if I tried to re-activate with root, it would red flag me for modified software. Thanks in advance.

The stock rooted roms are posted on the Infected forums if you just want to flash the stock rooted ICS.
OR, you could unroot and flash the OTA, but doing so I believe will upgrade your hboot, so you'll have to wait a bit until get the s-off on the new hboot.
Either way, I'm sure it'll be all squared away in the next couple of weeks.
Personally, if it were me, I would unroot and go OTA. Fly around completely stock for a while on your phone. I did that when 605.19 came out and I was actually surprised how well it performed being completely stock (battery life aside). But that didn't last long for me--I rooted it pretty shortly after.
Also, I'm not sure if you'd be red-flagged for trying to update OTA from root. I mean the worst that could happen is the update won't go through, and more likely, the update will go through, but will completely remove root and s-off.
Don't take the OTA expecting to reroot!

There may not be a "re-root" after you take the new hboot!!!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
I've been saying this and not enough people are listening and stuck not being able to root again.
I know one person even trying to work on the hboot right now and his device will no longer boot, so think again before taking the OTA.
It's up to you and doesn't effect me either way, just a few words of advice if you will.
Maybe this will change and another miracle as big as this release will happen and an exploit will be found on a 2 year old device with less then a handful of devs even looking at it.
This could change, but right now I would not count on it.
I took the update unrooted but still had revolutionary's hboot. I can confirm that the hboot was not overwritten by the new one.
Edit
Didn't realize there was a thread about this already lol. My bad.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Seems there is a LOT of revert to stock and unroot threads, is there a consolidated place or simple means of doing this? I think I'm going to undo everything I did and just her activate it stock. If she *****es down the road about not having root (unlikely), I'll worry about it then.
Thanks guys.

[Q] OTA after root

Hi everyone. Im real good with tech but i cant find anyone having asked...
I want to go buy the S4 and I will definitely root it (following the posted instructions on here) but before i do, will i be able to instal OTA updates after and if not, is there another way id be able to install updates? I used Voodoo rootkeeper on my tablet after rooting and the 1st ota went fine and kept root, the 2nd ota killed the root even while using Voodoo...
Please, any any all responses asap appreciated. I want to get the phone asap as i am tired of my rooted Bionic.
Thank all.

Just wait for a rooted stock ROM based on the OTA to be made by a dev. You never NEED to take an OTA.
Thanks but im not sure what you mean. I have no interest in loading custom roms nor over-screwing around with the phone. Do you mean wait for another root process or wait for a download for an ota update?
Thanks again
Im guessing you mean a rom will be released again after the ota is out with the ota integrated in it... That process makes me kind of nervous as i need my phone for work as well as personal and cant risk screwing up the phone or erasing data eta...
There is pretty much always someone that releases the stock ROM flashable in a custom recovery so you can have a rooted stock ROM. Look at the dev beanstownm106 ROM in the development section. It is basically the stock ROM rooted with some very minor tweaks, but flashable with a custom recovery like TWRP.
BUT...there is almost never anything you can't do with basically any ROM that you can do with the stock ROM. So you really don't need the stock ROM...some people just prefer it. For my old Thunderbolt, it was pretty well known that for a long time there was a custom ROM, very similar to the stock ROM, that was more stable than stock (SkyRaider Zeus).
Another BUT: if you need Good for work, prepare for a constant fight with root detection. And you will want to back up your data often. I have a BB for work that I leave untouched (its not mine).
One more thing...the Loki workaround has its advantages...the bootloader is still locked and untouched, so it would be pretty hard to brick the device because you can get back into download mode and use odin to flash back to factory.
Whats the loki workaround? Also, im dont want to be doing any kind of flashing... I just simply want to root the s4 (which i now have) and be able to run ota updates or if not, download the ota and install the update manually. And if i get an ota, if it will kill root, even if i run voodoo.
Please, if someone could, let us all know if ota wont run or will kill root on say the s3 or s4 and if downloadable updates are another option... without flashing anything or going to crazy.
Thanks again in advance.

new ota s4 yesterday

So I made the switch from my hyperdrive S3 to the s4 yesterday. Best buy did the update to me7... Am I understanding that I'm stuck with stock because it has an unlockable bootloader? I rooted it last night and it was fine but now what?
I can't stand a bloated stock phone anymore after my slimmed s3.
Everything I've read seems to indicate there's no way around the bootloader
As of right now, yes, you're stuck on stock. You do have root, so you can at least freeze the Samsung/carrier apps you don't want, but the bootloader is locked and nobody has figured out a way to bypass it yet. If you unroot you might be able to return it on the excuse that the phone is having performance issues, and tell them you've heard the new software update is to blame so you don't want it installed on the replacement.

[Q] Might be switching soon...

I might end up switching over to here from the Galaxy S3 within the next few months and I'm concerned on the bootloader/root status. As of the latest OTA that's been pushed, would this still work to flash custom ROMs and if it does, do I literally just have to follow the thread and I'm running(for example) the latest CM12 nightly? Thanks!

Yes but I believe you'd first need to downgrade to 10b and then root in order for this to work.
What he said. And we don't have root for Lollipop on our phone yet, but some developers here are working on it. You have to downgrade to 10B and root using Stump, then you can re-upgrade to 12B, which is the latest official stock LG version of Android on our phones. Lollipop is expected to officially drop on our phone anytime from a minute from now until the end of 2015. :\
We have a leak of the 23A build of Lollipop for our phone. I like it despite not being able to keep root when upgrading, for now. 23B, according to the open source code released by LG, will be the actual official Lollipop for us.
I came from the S3, too. I loved the phone, but got bored. I haven't regretted it, I love the G3 even better. The camera is awesome, I love how it feels. The first Android phone that I haven't wanted a case for.

So it's not locked down in any sort of way(minus root)? I don't wanna get a phone not be able to mess around with it

The answer depends on what you're looking for. If you want to have a phone with a custom recovery on it, with or without root, then yes we have that and can flash ROMs like crazy under KitKat 4.4.2, make nandroids, flash kernels and even an older modem if you like, etc. Under Lollipop, there's no way to do anything at all until we get a hold of the full ROM KDZ file that they can extract and modify to make flashable, rooted Lollipop ROMs.
I'm liking how smooth stock LG Lollipop is, though, and LG's built-in backup option under 4.4.2 and 5.0.1 make having a clean flash of 4.4.2 and manual upgrade to 5.0.1 even less painful than restoring with Titanium Backup because LG's backup is extremely fast, includes data and also includes the system data although I have yet to see (shortly) just how much system data is restored from an older ROM to a newer one, since it warns that not all system data might be restored when having backed up under an older ROM.
FYI, technically, I think the bootloader is still locked, however they have this thing called bump which evidently tricks the phone into still accepting flashes of non-official ROMs, by way of having a "bumped" version of TWRP installed, which can be done straight from Flashify in the Play Store as soon as you root using Stump brute force under 10B (an older LG stock ROM), reboot, install SuperSU, have it install/update the binary and reboot once more.
Then you can use @autoprime's Flash2 zip files in TWRP to flash the boot.img, modem.img and system.img of stock 12B if that's what you want, and then flash the latest SuperSU.zip, or whatever ROM you want. Sorry if I'm repeating some of what I had already said before.
Good luck, whatever way you decide.
