Hi
i have this problem "my X10i restarts itself unexpectedly", regardless of the ROM or kernel installed from stock to costumed one.
it happens sometime when opening programs like titanium backup or ROM toolbox, and every time when playing games approximately after
5min like angry bird.
i think this problem is hardware related, and i need to know what part is causing it, and how it happened after 1 year from purchasing the phone?
and does the android system keep "log file" some were for such problems.
Thanks.

Is the phone plugged in and charging when this happens???
I used to get a lot of problems with gaming on x10, the device would become extremely hot and reboot, whereas removing charger allowing device to cool down for 5 minutes would stop it from rebooting
now i can play games no problem, but if i leave it plugged in charging for ages, the game will overheat the device even at 998mhz
its just the x10 is getting old lol
yes my phone heats, and its always unplugged when restarts itself, and i have tried to apply different freq for CPU and the problem persists.
Suggestion!!!!

flash a different rom and kernel if youre on unlocked bootloader, then try to calibrate the battery by going to recovery and wipe battery stats after completing a full charge.. press thanks if i helped you friend, its just an easy thing.. cheers.. :victory:
today finally i have figured out what was causing the problem witch is " if i boot my phone without a sim card or in flight mood" my phone do not restart it self no matter how unless i do it, so the problem was if i try to connect to a network and i have tried 2g and 3g and many operator my phone starts to restart.
so please any body suggest any solution.
is it the what is called "RADIOS" or "base-band" so can i change it. or are there versions so i can try

Well, I have this problems 1 year or so. Tryed everything, and nothing helps so I gave up. The problem appears, when your X10i temperature go up above 25 Celsius. I have tryed to use it in cold conditions. 6-25 celsius - phone working fine, without restarts, but when temperature goes up to 26 or so, it's starting to restart. I have no idea what to do with this crap phone, so I left it in my drawer. If u will success to fix it, let me know, and good luck.

That probably means overheat or overload. Overheat situation occur in Phones normally cut off itself when meets abnormal temp increase within short duration, in order to prevent CPU melting by itself. Other than that, overload will also happens when phone is running out of free RAM or enough working space, which burdens phone and might cause phone unable to carry out its activities. But x10 is normal to happen likethat since its not so high tech hardware and RAM. So use it moderately. Hope these info helps

I can't use that phone moderately. Sometimes at startup it freezes and starting to restart itself. Sometimes when u're writing sms it restarts and etc. Tryed a lot of methods, but finally, happens the same things. In Airplane Mode I can use phone much more longer. If playing games - average 10 minutes without restart, but after that goes freeze and random restarts. So I guess it's motherboard or CPU issue. When I was using this phone in 1.6 or 2.1 it's worked for me perfect. But when the 2.3.3 update release and I updated my phone, it started to do that kind of restarts, reflashes to 1.6 or 2.1 doesn't help. Also tryed another battery, but... I don't have an idea what to do with this phone

Since I've installed Wolf's CM 6.1.3 rom I'm having a bad time with my X10. It keeps crashing randomsly, and then I need to remove the battery, wait a few minutes (like 5 minutes), then reinsert it and try to turn the cel on again, otherwise it does not work (it just vibrates sometimes, other times it starts to load, stops at "Sony Ericsson" then turn off again).
The problem is worse by now, as it still happens even if I go back to stock ROM (2.1). I've noticed that the battery gets very hot during these issues, and I need to remove it and wait it to cool down before the phone be able to power up again. It keeps crashing or freezing during daily usage.
Does anyone have any advice about this issue? Gauge Battery Widget shows that the voltage is 3.768V, and the temperature is always around 33 degrees (Celsius). Today I had to put the battery in the refrigerator in order to cool it down, as the phone wasn't working for, like, one hour.
Sorry for the bad English. still learning!
Thanks!
Try repairing it via Sony Ericsson Update Service. If that doesn't work attempt flashing a basebrand and firmware you know is stable with your phone. If that doesn't work it sounds like another internal problem you may need to bring in to get fixed.
Secuence of events that happened BEFORE the problem started:
1-Had a working rom of CM7.2
2-Battery was going out too quickly (7 hours or so) therefore I tried wiping battery data
3-Charged the phone
4- Unplugged it, took a picture
Problem:
One hour later I realised it was turned off...
I turned it on again, it turned off soon afterwards
for a moment it had a problem turning on (it wouldn't go past the cm logo)
afterwards it was even worse; it turned off before even passing the first logo, I couldn't even get it to recovery mode.
Solution Attempt no.1
Tried to get it to stock rom with Odin.
I was able too... but the problem persisted in the new Rom.
Solution Attempt no.2
Tried to get another rom
My situation NOW
I'm back on stock Rom. If I leave my phone alone for like an hour or so it works for 20/30 secs before turning off... After that the problem gets worse till I cannot boot.
Any ideas guys?
How old is the battery? There are apps on playstore to check your battery, thats where I would start. It doesn't sound like a Rom problem, sounds like hardware.ie battery first. Gluck.

Can't have the phone on for 1 minute, forget about downloading and using an app from the store...
I don't know if it's a hardware problem since it happen really suddenly...and just the day after I resetted the battery stats ..... Maybe it is a hardware issue but I want to be sure I tested everything first
Hey, maybe you moved on but I was having the same issue on every ROM.. stock or not. being the detective I am I investigated and inspected.
One of my battery connecting pins is loose even though it's pressed tightly in the case any moderate amount of force or impact loosens it from the contacts.
My temp solution for you would be to add something to the back cover to apply enough pressure to keep the battery still or resolder the copper connectors. The first being easier.
Hit thanks if that helps.
Invest in a new battery. Simple solution.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Hello everyone.
After several hours of googling and going through tons of pages here on xda I decided to make this post.
First, let me explain when the problem started:
The issue
Yestarday I was playing candy crush when suddenly the game started to get "laggy". I didn't think of it, exit the game and left my phone on the table. A few hours later I wanted to use it again only to find the small hard drive icon on the top saying something about Memory almost full. I clicked it and it took me to "All installed programs". I saw that it had used 1.9 gb of the total 2gb and only 20-40 mb were free. I started immediately to uninstall apps that I no longer use to see if this could help. It did for a few seconds but the memory got filled fast again.
This is when I started to search the net for solutions. The first post I read was to delete some log files so i did that. But it didn't change a thing. I thought to myself that I should make a backup of my stuff so it wouldn't go lost if I had to wipe the phone. But before I got to it my phone shut down. Now, when I turned it back on it would just start Media Scan and shortly after shut down. This is where I am now.
I am running stock ROM (have never rooted before).
What I have tried
I found the stock ROM (4.1.2 I think) and I flashed it with Odin thinking this would stop my phone from restarting. It did not.
I have tried to clear cache from Recovery Mode several times with no effect.
I have tried to wipe the phone from Recovery Mode but when I am half way through the setup process of setting up the phone for first use, it shuts down.
My battery also drops in power after the shutdown happens, so in this very moment I am waiting for the battery to charge fully so I can try to calibrate.
Please let me know if you need some additional information and I will happily provide what I can.
Thanks in advance!
You have flash stock and it still shuts down? Hardware problem. Battery old? Try with charger plugged in. Flashing stock makes it like new so there should be no faults. Id say battery is about had it. What firmware did you flash and were from?
My phone (and battery) is almost 1 year old so im still under warrenty if something fails. I just don't want to hand it in and wait weeks to get it back if I can handle it myself
Yes I flashed with stock ROM from samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100 so it should be good.
It makes no difference if the charger is plugged or not (which I find odd cause shouldn't it be able to keep awake while on alternating current?).
At the time typing this my phone is online and I am currently backing up photos (yay!!!). What I did was to not type in PIN code so maybe the sim card is the trouble (also 1 year old). I will report back when everything is backed up.
Update:
4 seconds after entering the PIN code the phone shuts down. Also it plays about 10 silent "clicks". Can't hear if its from the phone or from the speaker.
Update2:
Alright so I tried inserting another sim card that I have which has no pin code. The phone boots (but only when plugged) but shuts down after statup, exactly the same place/ after the same time as when I use the other SIM and enter the code.
I have had it online for 5 minutes now without typing the pin so my guess is that it's some setting it loads with the sim that makes it crash (but its a wild guess).
It's also worth noting that it doesen't drop in battery capacity when it shuts down ATM.
Id still say battery problem but could be wrong.
I see some sort of flicker on the screen just before it shuts down. I don't know if this could help someone to address the problem.
For the full memory issue i solved wiping log files in the "/data/log" dir, i had almost 1000 log files, 1 MB each.
Hope this is your problem too.
There is hardly anything left in the /data folder. I have tried to delete the logs (65 mb) from Phone/log but that didn't change a thing. Im going to send the phone to the company i bought it from next week.
Ive recieved a battery that I ordered from china and the phone works now. So the problem was the battery just to let everyone know.
Glad you sorted it.

you need to check battery health
there is lots of app that can do this like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.macropinch.pearl&hl=en
or take to service center and let them check it

The thing is folks, if the temp indeed is getting high. Usually the CPU will start throttling back at around 70c. At about 80 or 85c, it will most likely shut down. This CPU overheat could be caused by corrupt OS. Might try flashing an Ftf file with Flashtool.
Now, the question is, do you indeed feel the tab as being "Hot" in certain places? Because you can definitely feel an 85c CPU! And if it's a bad or ill battery, this can also overheat when being charged. As suggested above, check the battery health.
Tab is not hot at all....
Tried various firmwares and still happens
Once tab shuts down it will remain unreponsive although usb or magnatic charing cable is connected
But charging will not start ....
Unless tab is rebooted
Up on reboot temp are all normal.......
But sometimes i have felt magnetic cable tablet end is a bit warm
But at that time chaging is all normal......
All these episodes happened with wall charger
I can not remrmber similar incident with car charger....
I never got such a msg from the tablet. I would rma it, the sooner the better.
Truth be told, while my z1 phones does get hot while gaming, the tablet ner does. Wierd but i guess the motherboard is bigger hence thermals have more romm to spread and dissipate. Who knows.

Hi folks,
I was experiencing similar issues with my tablet, and upon installing the battery app as suggested, i found out that it was overheating (?!)
Can somebody tell me why is it overheating? is there something wrong with the battery? it stays on for couple of minutes and it shuts down with a message "high temperature, shutting down" . My tablet is not plugged in or charging, even when it is plugged in it in it won't charge.
I'm really worried about it catching fire, hope you guys can help me out here
Thanks!
Just got my tablet back from warranty but the problem still occur especially during playing game, it shut down automatically when I played not more than 10 minutes..will it be fixed when update to lollipop?
My Z2 Tablet shut down automatically when I use it for 15 min, but I have a new battery installed and the problem is still here. So it canĀ“t be a problem with the battery.
I have no idea if there is a temp sensor or someting else is brocken.
Ok I've had the Moto Z for a while and its a great phone. Or it was until a few weeks ago. In the space of a couple of weeks a few official updates were sent to my phone and thinking nothing of it I updated as requested. The last update has seriously messed the phone up.
Problems since the update:-
- Battery drain now has the phone running out in about 10 hours. This problem seems to be intermittent, the majority of the time it happens and drains the phone quickly but not all of the time and usually its Android OS using between 25-50%. Also safe mode has no effect on the problem.
- Phone speaker stops working. Start the phone up and its working, but after a undetermined amount of time (no more than a hour or so) the speaker no longer works. If I get a call I have to turn on speaker phone to be able to hear anyone. Reset the phone and it works normally, only to happen again soon after.
- Phone charging stops working. Again start the phone and plug in the charger and it works fine. But after its charged, again after a undetermined amount of time, charge no longer works. Plug the charger in and the phone indicates its charging with the little light coming on at the top. But nothing else on the phone indicates its charging and the battery continues to drain. Reset the phone and suddenly it chargers normally. Same thing then happens again given time.
What I've tried to do about it:-
- I've tried running in safe mode, which makes no difference
- I've tried a full reset, which makes no difference
- I even unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom OS (Lineage). Thinking that obviously this will wipe out the new update from Lenovo and the phone would have to work properly again. But no, nothing changes, somehow Lenovo have done something beneath the OS that's causing these problems.
The question:-
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or have you at least seen these issues before?
I fail to gasp what is the purpose of the topic and I don't see a question.... If you're looking for compassion, I think the internet is the wrong place.
If you're sure that the problems is the updates, downgrade to the latest version that worked well for you. Since you've already unlocked the bootloader, try any of the variety of roms available here to verify you don't have a hardware problem.

Honestly don't know how my post was unclear at all, but I've gone and tried to make it even more clear with a quick edit, hope that helps.
I have exactly the same problem. For me it occurred after updating to nougat. So fare I tried nearly everything. Disabling nearly everything to the bare minimum, custom ROMs, resetting, trying to flash only parts of the Android 6 firmware (modem, Bluetooth, DSP) since a complete downgrade is not possible, using all kinds of battery tools with a rooted device, using custom kernels... I always ended up with a constant battery drain of 3 to 8 percent per hour no matter what I did. Same in flight modus. Since under Android 6 the device didn't show this behavior I think that the problem must be somewhere in the firmware beneath the OS level. An the cruel thing is that sometimes without a reason for maybe an hour or two my moto z doesn't drain an works fine so that I do not believe in a hardware problem.
Thanks for the post. Yeah it seems like something has been changed underneath the OS. I know that sometimes memory config gets changed with newer Android operating systems (at least I think so?), but could that cause all these problems?
BTW, do you have all three of the problems I mentioned? Battery drain, sound stops working and charging stops working?
Since in this condition the Moto z is not really usable for me I switched back to my old phone and I am not using it that much as a daily device, I cannot really tell about sound or charging problems. So far I did not notice those problems.

I've never seen anything like it before. Its so random as well. I mean yesterday I rebooted and then charged the phone before I left for Football at 4pm. At about 11pm that night I heard the battery low sound (45% of the battery had be used by Android OS..). First thing I thought of was that usually the phone wouldn't still be making sounds by now. Since as I said earlier usually the speaker stops working along with charging within a hour or so of a reboot and this had been over 7 hours without a reboot. So I tried plugging it in and it started to charge. But then when I woke up this morning again the sound was disabled and it won't charge, it just took longer for the problem to occur this time..
How can we stop asking to update to this patch?
I has already disabled this on the developer preferences but still asking every 10 minutes
Any suggest please
Mine even worst. Battery drain fast and mobile away very warm. It suddenly reboot and shown low battery. Battery drain from 50 to 3 percent in a second! Have you guy come across this?

Yep I've also had that as part of my problem, though it had only happened a few times over the course of the month so I forgot about it with all the other problems I mentioned going on.
Basically my phone would be sitting on, say 40%, and after a reboot it would start up in the single digits.
I recently tried changing to a custom kernel to see if maybe that was causing the problem (I'd already tried changing OS). But all the problems are still there using the new kernel. Think my next step should be to try to go back to a 7.0 Android version. Are there any custom Android ROMs using 7.0?
It is said that the Motorola Manager can rescuer lost data even if the data has been covered on phone , is it true ?
Just curious what came of this. My Z, unrooted, has started running crazy hot and the battery life is not good. 6-10 hours. When I connect it to my Anker PowerDrive 2 in the car, the battery actually discharges faster or I get the slow charge warning.
Hi I have exactly the same problems as the op and tried resetting to no avail. Its driving me nuts.
Short update about the massive battery drain problem: like I wrote above, in the past weeks I tried everything from custom kernels to custom roms, resetting, deleting and so on. Nothing helped. So I went back to stock and didn't use the phone the last weeks. Today I read in an other thread about bluetooth problems that a fix for the not working bluetooth was to activate flight mode, restart the phone and deactivate flight mode. So I activated flight mode, pressed the power button for 10 seconds or so until the phone restarted an deactivated flight mode. And now the absolute strangest thing happened: for the last 5 hours the phone lost 0% battery in standby with wifi and lte on. Since I did all the mentioned things above without any effect I do not understand this at all but right now I think that this could be a (temporally) fix also for the battery drain problem.
