Re-rooting after ICS OTA update? - HTC Rezound

I was rooted prior to the OTA. Relocked my phone and did a stock recovery. Acquired the update, now I'm trying to re-root and not having any luck. I've successfully unlocked again, flashed amon ra, and installed su in recovery. However when I check for root access or try and use titanium backup it's unable to acquire root access. I've updated to the newest SU and still no dice. Any ideas as to what I'm missing? Thanks for any input.

The su that Amon Ra installs is outdated and doesn't work. You could do one of two things:
1. Flash a rom(all roms have su) or
2. Go to the superuser website and find the latest binary.

Superuser binary update fail

I just flash the homebase rom on my atrix. The binary updater says my su is outdated. I try to update but it keeps failing. It says "Checking current install path... fail!" How do I fix this problem?
Try updating superuser from market.
If doesn't help check if you got root with app that required root (like Root Checker or Titanium backup), if there isn't root - root with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548 (Or if you want to try reflash rom)
I do have root and the old superuser works fine, but after updating the new superuser from the market, it can't find the path for some reason. I tried reinstalling root, but it failed because it said I already have superuser in my phone.
OK so uninstall it and root again.
This seems like a good place to put this, I have an HTC Wildfire S with S-OFF but after updating Superuser from the Android Market the Binary was outdated. I checked to make sure S-OFF was not now S-ON so that was ok. I then used recovery mode and installed the latest Superuser.apk with the binary from zip, found here -> megaupload.com/?d=8QI41EE3 and the problem was fixed. Hope this works for the Atrix 4G as well.

[Solved] Can't get root on 2.17

I was rooted on 2.08 and decided to relock and upgrade to 2.17 OTA. I was able to unlock again and install TWRP custom recovery. I flashed Superuser.zip (3.07) from recovery. But it seems I still don't have root access. Not of the rooted apps work. Tried installing busybox from app on the market but says don't have root. Trying to update binary from Superuser app fails. How do I get root access at this point. Should I flash an older Superuser. Thanks.
Did you flash a rooted ROM? If not, that is likely your problem.

I'm on stock ROM right now. I flashed a different version of superuser which worked. That was my problem. I have root access now.

You have to flash the SuperSU file from recovery to actually be rooted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Download the "CWM flashable zip" and flash through Amon-Ra.
Indeed, you need two things for root.
The su binary, which is in one of your system folders.
And an app like SuperSu to manage root access for apps.

How to get SU binaries and busybox?

I just unlocked my DNA. I then installed CWM Recovery. I checked the All Things Root thread, but the files that are to be used in CWMR have been removed from the website they were hosted on? Where can I find these files now? I'm looking for the SU and busybox files that I flash in CWM. Thanks in advance.
Rebooting system in clock work should prompt you to install them
You can just flash a custom rom or download superuser from the market

Thanks. I just ended up installing a custom Rom that was rooted with su installed.

[Q] Unlocked bootloader, can't gain root?

Currently on hboot 2.09. I unlocked my bootloader but I seem to be unable to gain root access. I tried using the Universal HTC Toolkit to flash TWRP and flash superuser but that didn't work. I flashed TWRP 6.00 from fastboot since I know that TWRP flashes SuperSU when you reboot from it. Long story short, I still don't have root access. I got an app to check if I had root access and it said I did not. I've gone back into recovery, but whenever I try to reboot from recovery my phone freezes and reboots correctly, but doesn't check for superSU.
Anyone have any idea? Or have a superSU or superuser zip that I could flash so I could gain root?
Not sure about that TWRP version you're using since the most recent version is 2.7.x. At any rate the most recent version of SuperSU can be found in the link below. Download the zip and flash in recovery.

Can I use the most recent TWRP even if I'm still on hboot 2.09?
double edit: Thanks for the help!
Yes. You can get it from the TWRP website.

I assume now that I'm rooted I can just use the TWRP app? I can't use fastboot commands on my work computer, unfortunately.
You can flash it using the bootloader method. No PC required.
Not sure what app you're referring to. Goo Manager?
