Do sprint's eco 3d's have any issues with pics? - HTC EVO 3D

Hello 3d community I was talking width my buddy earlier who has a evo and he was telling me he rarely gets wimax where he's at in Costa Mesa so I was curious if this is a common issue with 3d users like it is with my phone the Galaxy s2 or what could be causing it. Any help would be appreciated

I'm confused. Your title says, "Do sprint's eco 3d's have any issues with pics?", but your question has nothing to do with pictures. So, I'll answer both questions that I think you are asking. The camera does take great pics, but the lens is a little slow (or at least the app makes it that way). So, if your subject moves, it smears the picture. As for WiMax, you either get it or you don't depending on the roll out. So, Wimax not being widespread is a common problem since Sprint is moving to LTE.

Yeah i am sorry I didn't look at the title and my phone auto corrected ics to pics my apologies. And I understand they are slowly fazing wimax out for LTE but I wasn't sure if the 3d's ics had issues like the SGS2 does.

There are times where I have a weak signal and slow 3g speeds, but get an OK Wimax connection with fast internet. I haven't had any issues with ICS and Wimax that weren't there when I was on GB.

Its not just the 3D, it's Sprint.

Hows the 4g signal?

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but how is the 4g compared to the evo? Is it the same hardware in the phone?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm getting a much stronger and consistent 4G signal. After I walked out of Radio Shack, I held up both my old EVO and the new 3D and the 3D had a full strength while the old one had 1 bar.
Sent from my squeeky clean new EVO 3D using XDA Premium App!!!!
Same here. much stronger. 3x the speeds that I was getting with the EVO 4g. Since I doubt the towers changed overnight, all i can say is that radio design improved significantly. I am getting 2x on my wifi as well. In contrast, I am getting two to three times as many signal interruptions (reconnects).
Thanks 4 the response! Now thats another reason to get evo 3d. Anyone else wanna have a response?

This thing has 4G? Huh.. I was too busy with all the other features. The simple fact that Sense 3.0 is fast as fark and the phone doesn't has been keeping me busy.

Simultaneous talk and surf?

What happened to the 3vo being able to talk and surf at the same time as many reports had stated prior to the release of the 3vo? Is this something to be added later or a never gonna happen type of thing?
Sent from my EVO 3D using XDA App
It works just fine, but only if your data connection is either via wifi or 4G.
Yes I know that same as the EVO but i meant over 3g not 4g or WiFi

Sprint has to enable svdo on their network. The 3d and the EVO shift have the chip set. They are just not activated.

I hope they it asap... It would be very handy and good marketing against verizon too.

would be better marketing against at&t really, since they are the only one with bragging rights at the moment to be able to do this, not even verizon can at the moment.
Actually the Verizon Thunderbolt can do it currently. Its been something that has been making me think about jumping ship, though at those prices, I should buy a flip phone for when my Evo is online...
The thunderbolt can only do it on LTE and the phone has no toggle to turn LTE off unless its rooted

No the Verizon TB can do it over cdma without being in LTE area. Not all VZ areas support it yet but the phone deff can do it.

Don't think so. the way sprint is doing their voice+data will require a certain chipset on the phones that supports SVDO, which last I checked is NOT in the EVO3D nor the shift. The MDM9600 is the only one ive seen and confirmed to have this built in.
Also a lil note for people that are interested This post lays out some things for the future in sprint and are pretty reliable sources for those that do not know them.

Well people, after reading this thread I just had to put in my 2 cents about it. I live in a 3G area of upstate New York with NO 4G around me and can talk and surf on my Thunderbolt. That was the only reason I dropped the call dropping iPhone with at&t and swithed. I drive a truck "18 wheeler" and everywhere I have gone in the New England area that doesn't have 4G I have been able to do this.

No he's most definitely wrong. The Thunderbolt can do simultaneous voice and data on 3g in svdo enabled areas.
Talk and Surf on EVO and EVO 3D
The solution is not at all elegant and drain the battery pretty quickly.
What else is new here?
In any event, be it in 3G or 4G (irrelevant for 4G I guess):
1) activate the built-in hotspot (password protect it to prevent others taking
advantage of FREE Wifi draining your battery faster than Concord)
2) Activate the phone Wifi and connect to the newly created Wifi in Step 1
At this point, you should be able to talk and surf; an added bonus (already available thru the hotspot feature), is you're able to connect other devices to the Hotspot connection created in Step 1.
The new problem you will have now is to find yourself a lasting battery.

Evo 3d 3g problems

One could be just your location other is a hardware issues my first evo 3d had a bad signal and 3g. Sprint said it was a hardware issue. Which it was I had done a bunch of tests to make sure. The new one hauled ass on the net.
fixed it by using ##3282 and setting cdma mode to automatic

1.9Ghz and more? Anyone know about this?

So I'm on the phone talking to this sprint rep cause I was having terrible data with perfect signal strength, he said to try and turn on 1.9Ghz 3g and that was all he would say, any more and it would be like rooting the phone and that got me curious as hell, what really are our phone's capability??? And anyone found this setting yet? He said it was somewhere by debugging but I can't find it...

If you wonder what those service techs are thinking it's just gonna cause headaches. For the record I'm a CDMA switch tech and half my co–workers are as much in La La land as the service reps/techs.

I remebered an old trick from when the evo first came out where it was for some strange reason running in a gsm/cdma hybrid mode, or so the diag screen says, and if you change it to cdma only the data speeds were improved. I'm no network engineer so i'm not sure how that works, but for our phones if you click on mobile network itself in settings, the network config menu shows the radio mode as LTE/CDMA as default. I was having horrible speeds, maybe topped out at 200kbps on multiple tests, switched it to CDMA only, and was getting the same speeds as my OG evo, still a paltry 600-800kbps, but that is at my home where the 3g speeds have always been like this. Give that a try, and note that the setting doesn't stick if you reboot.

Trade for GS3?

So as the title states, I'm considering trading my evo for a GS 3. The LTE continues to drop and I've heard that the GS3 doesn't have these issues. Has anyone here traded successfully at the Sprint store? Thoughts?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
you should ask this question on the gs3 forum...
HTC EVO LTE
It's not so much a preference question as it is a possibility issue. Wondering if anyone has been successful in explaining the LTE issues and getting a GS3
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I think what he is trying to say is, if they successfully traded they wouldn't be in this forum anymore.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
You may want to read around. The gs3 & evo lte have simular problems according to LTE. They both used to drop in and out of LTE. Samsung/sprint is or has upgraded the firmware to hold LTE and if I'm not mistaken the evo LTE issue is in the process of being fixed also.
Go into the sprint gs3 thread. There are radio signal complaints & also lte to evdo complaints. Honestly though I wouldn't blame the device, both devices are bad ass,and pretty simular when it comes to soc hardware. If you really like the gs3 and willing to trade beats audio, photographer style screen, kickstand, sense and the f.2.0 camera then by all means go for it. The gs3 is very fun when it comes to software modding. But in the end its all the same

Tell sprint u have LTE issues they might swap u like 3 times then offer u a trade or they might trade u right away

Don't do it the gs3 sucks imho my brother has one and stock vs stock EVO wins everyday use his does nothing but lag garbage
Viper4G 2.02
liberty kernel v1.10

What specifically makes it suck? I want to get in on this LTE, but it looks like it's not happening with the EVO.
