Hey guys! Yesterday late at night my phone finally received the ICS OTA. It's a GSM XT910 Razr and it's not rooted or flashed with any rom. It had the official 2.3.5 GB and now the 4.0.4 ICS. While i was very happy that i got the update actually my troubles started. While ICS was being installed the phone froze and there was no indication or sign of progress with the installation for almost 3 hours! The only thing i could do to make it respond was to hold the power+volume down button to soft+reset it. When the phone rebooted it took like 1 whole hour to reach the homescreen from the Motorola boot logo screen. While ICS were installed and all of the apps installed from the market actually work i am having serious issues with the Core apps of the Android OS. For example i open my photo gallery. When i click to view any photo the phone freezes and i get the message that either the "Gallery" app or the "Android" app stopped working and i have to force stop it. Same happens with my Settings app. The wifi category works, all the rest when i open any of them my phone just freezes and i have to force stop the "Settings" app.
So my thoughts is that the installation was not done completely well and i would like to ask you if there is any way to reinstall Android and redo the procedure that i did last night.
Thanks in advance guys!
try a factory reset.of course you will lose your data but it should work. You can try 're install the update.zip which you'll find here in the dev section, through stock recovery. Make sure you have enough battery.

What's the correct update .zip for a GSM RAZR MAXX from the Claro network in Puerto Rico? I just got one yesterday and am on 2.3.6.
Or would it be better to wait for the official OTA since most all current 4.0.4 updates seem to be riddled with bugs?

Just wondering if anyone has anything (good/bad) to report about the OTA update. Figure this would be a good place to post those issues for the people who are still hesitant about updating. I have the 2.1 v3 non-root and have yet to update. Thanks.
Having issues with 2.1 I can't find ANY HTC widgets. Tried to reload the digital clock with the weather app at the bottom and realized the phone doesn't have any HTC widgets, only shows the android native widgets. Anybody else having this problem, got any advice how to solve this?
I just manually updated to 2.1 (Official) and now my weather app doesn't work. Widgets are ok, just opening the app causes a force close. Any way to fix this? Might call customer support tomorrow and tell them the OTA got to me and it won't work now.
From what I've seen around a reboot might fix that if you haven't tried that already

Haha thanks, but I've tried it several times. Also, the recovery doesn't work with the official update.zip. I'm assuming that it's because the versions are the same, but if it says RECOVERY then I'm wondering why it won't RECOVER like I'm trying to do now. Any other ways to reinstall the OTA?
I manually updated my wife's around 10 am today and about 3 hours ago, she started havin no sound issues. couldnt hear through the earpiece, phone vibrates instead of rings, speaker will not play volume. I have tried everything. Making sure all settings are in place like volume TTY. Reboot fixes it for about five minutes then right back to the same thing. Hard resetting now. If it still does it I'll probably take it in and demand a new one i guess...lol
EDIT: Should I have to reprogram on a hard reset after this update? Hmm somethings not right about that...
Ive had no problems with the OTA. I went from stock 1.5 to OTA 2.1
It seems that people with leaked 2.1 v3 won't get the ota. My friend has an Eris with 1.5 and just got
it but I didn't.

I don't think anyone who is running any leaked version is getting an update right now. There is an issue with the hboot versions it seems.
Don't worry, two things have been confirmed.
First the OTA will not work with the leaked ROMs installed.
Second, the OTA is exactly the same as the 2.1 leak v3.
This was confirmed on Android forum by someone that took the time to compare every single file and CRC the binaries. The only difference was that the leaked ROMs use a different bootloader to install as they did and the actual OS and apps are exactly the same so if you got leak v3 you got the OTA.
The OTA won't install because you are already running it.
if you have rooted 2.1 (test keys) and you downgrade to back to 1.5 any one if this will allow you to get the OTA update? i installed the rooted 2.1 (test keys) but never installed a custom ROM (the second half of the directions on XDA forum) and I still haven't received the update. but I was thinking of downgrading to 1.5 to see if i can get the update.
anyone having problems with live wallpapers on 2.1? or was this not included with the 2.1 for eris?

Unfortunately it wasn't included.
just found out about 2.1 this morning...
I'm a verizon rep for an authorized premium retailer, and one of my customers came up to me today with her eris complaining about all her contacts being gone and her album not being there... her exact words: "What happened??? I clicked the update thingy and now half my ****'s gone!" Personally I laughed slightly, then checked the software version, found it updated to 2.1 and figured the deal. Her sound is working fine, she now has a couple more widgets she wont know how to operate, and albums is now "photos", and contacts is now "People". also required a resync to get her contacts back, but now she's golden.

Quick question about TaskBar (process killer) widget. Anybody know how to program it to ignore certain processes? Like sense... I tried using it but it killed sense every time. Along with mail and the weather process, which I don't care so much about, waiting for sense to reboot every time is a serious pita though...
I previously had 1.5 stock eris. I downloaded the official OTA zip and manually installed it. I had a few issues at first.
1. I had Spare Parts installed and had set my End key to first goto home screen and then lock. 2.1 did not like that setting and so my end key wouldn't do anything except turn it on from sleep and end a call until I changed the setting to just lock the phone.
2. Couple apps wanted to be updated to a new version after installing 2.1 before they would work.
3. Here is my unresolved issue - All my apps that I had installed before 2.1 no longer have write access to my SD card.
For example Astro File Manager showed my permissions on /sdcard as dr-. Reloading the card, rebooting, etc did not fix the issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue.
Why did this happen in the first place and is there an easier fix than uninstalling/reinstalling all my apps?
I've had the same disappearing HTC widget issue as was mentioned earlier, but a reboot (with a battery pull) didnt fix the problem. Is a hard reset my only option?
my girlfriend installed the OTA and now only the stock ringtones work when receiving a call- she set up custom ringtones for a few contacts, but if they call, the default ringtone rings.
I was running the leaked 2.1 eris rom on a MyTouch 3g and had the same issue, so i'm guessing it's not an easy fix. anyone else seeing this?
2.1 OTA back to 1.5
Hi everyone, I had many problems with 2.1 I manually installed 2.1 OTA from 1.5. everything went smooth, once running first thing i notice I click on the HTC clock weather, and it force closes, ok great, found a trick to delete the cache for weather provider, boom works, then i find out I do infact have the 50% time without signal issue, well I figured it wasn't too big of a deal, but after basically cutting my time in half going from 2 days no charge, to barely making one day, and I've heard that it would just take time as it did when first getting the phone.. which makes sense as it was the case with 1.5, week later not much improvement, so..
I would just like to comment on my experience. It went so smooth, it was in-fact easier to set back to 1.5 than it was to initially, manual install the OTA 2.1... I downloaded the MR2 file, unzipped the file, went through the computer on screen step-by-step process, Took less than 10 minutes, and of coarse as soon as turning the phone back on with 1.5 I see the OTA msg. I'm, just praying it doesn't get too annoying..
I have rooted my Atrix and installed Gingerblur 3.5 on my phone. I then wanted to go back to stock os that came with the atrix. I used RSD lite and went back to v 1.26. Before I went to Ginger blur I had a android market that had green on the top on the app. When I went back to v 1.26 it lokked like a plain market with no green on the top and has three icons that say apps, games, and att. I wanted to know how change the market to the one I had before Gingerblur
I believe you could Google for themed market.apk find one you want. Either root to side load app or adb push. Backup of og. is recommended

I wanted to get the stock market that came with the phone no root How would I get it back I have two Atrix one is me moms and one is mine we have the same update but two different markets
Can you use adb?

what is adb
Hopefully, I understand your question correctly.
The android market is a self updating application. If you reflash a sbf and you have an older version, it should autoupdate itself to the latest version. The quickest way to facilitate this is to start the android market app and then press the home hard key to exit out of the application but leave it running. If you use the "back" hard key, you will quit out of the application and it shouldn't be running in the background.
After 15 to 20 minutes, exit out of the market by hitting the back button and then restart it. It should be the latest version at this point.
Hope this works. It worked for me to update my version after flashing the 1.8.3 sbf after I was going back to stock from Gingerblur.
I am trying your way now just have to wait 15-20 minutes now so you know I flashed back to 1.26 and then went to settings on the phone and downloaded the 1.83 update and installed it.
I waited about 15 -20 minutes and restated the market it is still the old version I even turn the phone off and turned it back on
I got the apk file for the update for the market is there any way to install it in the phone

Sorry it didn't work. It had worked for me when I flashed 1.8.3 and needed to update the market. It should work per the google android market help. I'd post the link, but apparently you have to post 8 times before posting a link.
Best of luck.
Just curious how many people are having issues with stock Google apps and the stock browser after the ota update. The Gmail and maps will get stuck on a white screen as does the stock browser and the play store will just lock up on whatever screen it was currently on. Google wallet will freeze during the unlocking your device notice. These are the only ones I have found so far but I had none of these issues before the ota update. A phone restart will fix it for a period of time but I'm currently having to restart my phone 2 times a day to get the apps to work properly again.

I also forgot to add that during the restart after the screen turns off you can will change the ring volume up and down and hear it change for 2-3 seconds before the phone actually does restart. I noticed this when I had my Bluetooth headset still connected and it was not telling me it was disconnected for at least 4-5 seconds after the screen turned off unlike before the update when it was no more than a second.

Mine does this as well, the only "fix" I have found for it is rebooting the phone. Then it works for a few days until it randomly decides to freeze again.
I was having the same problems where the browser will be a white screen and not work. I went twrp and wipe cache/dalvik cache and haven't had a problem since

After the update! The stock browser doesn't highlight the the URL address when tapped like before...Instead we have to manually delete the URL to search something else or press the little X after tapping on the URL.
Wtf!? Yeah count me in too. I just did a restart and it didn't fix problem. Gwallet still in notification bar saying initializing.

Also been having the same problem since updating, most noticable with the browser just being a white screen. Tried wiping cache & dalvik cache again, doesn't seem to help. Stock ROM with S-OFF. Surprised I haven't seen more mentions of this problem, but perhaps it's not widespread?
Well as I've learned over my time at xda updates are always catch 22's. That's why I choose to wait and read users feedback on how the latest ota is functioning. However none if this is revelant to your issues just figured I'd post it for future reference. Also have you guys tried a full wipe of your current rom? After you make a backup of your data of course to see if that will help ??

Yeah...I was having the same problem after the ota, but after a couple of reboots things started to work right.
Im having this too, is getting very annoying. Sometimes i just want to use the phone quickly for something and have to re-start the phone... I feel like breaking it against the floor.

I too am having the same issue. Play and browser all fail to respond. Wiped cache etc. Still repeats each time.

I wound up here after searching for this error, which just started with me yesterday with the browser (stock). It just displays a white screen when I try to use it.
I've had the latest update (flashed with 1.22.651.3 odexed ROM from xHausx and firmware from Captain Throwback) about a week now and this just started happening yesterday.
Yesterday I somehow got it to work again by clearing the Internet cache and then I performed a search from the Google search bar and all was well. I was thinking at the time that it was stuck on a particular page and that this got around it. But that fix isn't working for me today, so I'm going to try to clear dalvik/cache from twrp as recommended here and see where that gets me.
It's good to know I'm not the only one though... I wonder if there's anything else more specific we all have in common since we seem to be a fairly small subset. Maybe we all flashed the Odexed update for example?
EDITED TO ADD: Appears to affect Gmail too. And possibly several other Google apps as mentioned here and in other threads. Since there was a Gmail update I did yesterday, I'm going to try to uninstall that as mentioned in this other thread I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810829

NOT helpful at all since it affects not only the stock browser but other Google apps as well.
Refer back to my original post which I updated with additional information.
I've found if I reboot and never use the stock browser I don't have the white screen problem. I set maxthon as the default and act like the stock browser doesn't exist.

I reverted back to the previous version of Gmail yesterday hoping that would fix the problem but it still happened. This morning when I clicked an email notification from my status bar, Gmail did the white screen thing and needed to be shut down manually. Just to verify that this and the browser incident were related, I tried to launch the stock browser and it too was white screen.
So those of you suggesting to install an alternate browser to get around this issue need to understand that this is a lot more widespread than the browser alone. For me, both my Gmail and Google Offers were white screens this morning upon trying to launch them so it definitely appears to affect all Google apps.
Yeah this happens to me as well. Its really bad now. Nothing fixes. It does it on all the roms with newer OTA for me. Only two roms will work for me without this problem. I have tried everything. Wiped everything, Reflashed, Checked my sd card, factory reset, you name it. It even does it on restored roms that didn't have the problem before. I don't know what to do....
A developer told me to try and manual flash boot.img through fastboot but I'm not even sure how to do that. Need to read up on it.
I have had the issue to wear when I am trying to open the browser app, it will actually freeze the entire phone until I hit the home button repeatedly in play store will not load anything until I fully restart the phone I've tried fixing for missions do a nandroid restore nothing seems to work

I just recently bought a used Tf201 off of cowboom. As soon as I signed in on it I started having issues... Strange issues. The screen would flicker jump and shake regardless of the screen i was on and apps would constantly crash. I got the notification to update to jellybean and after several tries finally got it to download and take.
As soon as I booted into my newly updated jelly bean update touchwiz immediately crashes and is unusable. I managed to load apex launcher and things run smoothly most of the time. Aside from occasional random reboots, freezes and the -24 app install error.
I know that was a lot of back story but I didn't want to leave anything out. My question is has this happened to anyone else and if so what is the possible fix. Or should I just go ahead and load a custom rom and call it a day.
I'm greatful for any assistance.
Thanks

I'd say put a custom rom on it. So much better than stock...
I have 2 Motorola Droid Razr Maxx phones.
After it updated OTA to ICS - I Rooted and life was good
After it updated OTA to JB - I lost root and life sucks
At the time of Root - my primary reason was for WiFi tether.
After the the OTA JB update - my wifi tether app stopped working and that was disappointing but I also have noticed other issues.
I also use app organizer for grouping similar apps - those will no longer launch as they did in the past. When I go to All Apps and
launch the camera - only the front facing camera will work.
I HATE Jelly Bean and would love to be able to use RSD Lite to load the ICS sbf and stay with ICS till they can get these issues taken care of.
I looked at the Tutorial of How to revert back to ICS from JB - but that appears to be referring to the early leaked version and assumed that you made your backup as you should.
Other post state that you cant go back to stock ICS period.
I really don't want to flash a ICS rom on the JB o/s - I would like to get rid of JB and go back to ICS completely.
Sorry this was long winded.
Is there a way to do what I wanted to do - or should I just dump both phones in the storm drain and get lost phone replacements?
And yes - I know the replacements would have JB on them - but I could take them back to my service provider and gripe about the unmodified phone.
My camera and auto app organizer work fine. I would reflash jb if I were you. And no you can't go back to ICS.... Trying will just put you in a bootloop, and you would have to flash jb anyways
I think mattlgrof made a jb utility for this, or you can follow one of the tutorials. Full file, not the updates.
