I'd like to get ICS with working cameras on my Tab. I'm currently rooted running Task14 and looked at Task's latest stock ICS ROM with working cameras. But the rolling screen problems some are having scares me a little.
So my question is this: If I go back to complete stock (which would be HC) then get the OTA update, will I be able to root it using the same procedures outlined here at XDA? Just wondering if using the root method posted on XDA works while running the stock ICS ROM.
If this would work, do I get back to stock unrooted by just doing a factory reset, or do I have to use a specified unroot method?
Samfirmware.com has the stock rom for you download it from there and Flash via odin and you will have stock rom and no root........if u press reset it won't go to stock it will be on same rom ........hit thanx if I have helped

I'm running the Stock 3.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 and I have rooted it. I found out now I have rooted the device I will no longer get OTA updates. That means when ICS comes, I will not be able to update How can I unroot? Can I just flash an unroot zip?
I believe you will still be able to get OTA if you are still on the stock Rom... You will lose Root though..

are you running leak ics rom or ics custom rom?
i came back to stock from senseless ics.
what i did was
first, went back to stock rooted by flashing stock kernel and stock rooted rom.
then flashed stock recovery then re-locked the bootloader
then finally flashed ruu.zip from fastboot (1.02.605.6).
stock kernel: team bamf's unsecured stock
stock rooted rom: http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=55
stock recovery: http://db.tt/tw5m33ZG
re-lock bootloader: fastboot oem lock
ruu.zip: http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=38
or ruu.exe: http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=37
I currently have the CleanRom ICSE 2.3, and would like to go back to the rooted stock rom, will this guide work for me...
thanks guys... im not re locking bootloader since what i really wanted was getting back to gb from ics.. and that guide up here worked... thanks
im running a gb rom now it boots and all work good but i cant still upgrade kernels.. i did everything with the exception of locking bootloader.. when trying to upgrade kernel keeps telling me main version is older?
UPDATE
the only way i can upgrade kernels is by pushing them using adb ..at least it works that way

not sure, but i doubt it will work
since mainver has been updated.
u can still try though.
if it doesn't work, u just need to re-flash
the kernel and the rom i think.
Hey everyone
A little while ago I jumped on the ICS bandwagon and flashed my villainrom 2.5-toting Optus i9100 to WanamLite 8.9, via CWM Recovery.
its been buggy as hell and the phone has turned to garbage ever since, with random freezing, touch input not responding, et cetera.
my question is - should i have flashed to one of the leaked samsung ICS ROMs via ODIN before updating to wanamlite via CWM Recovery?
i remember back in the SGS days, when moving from 2.1/2.2 to 2.3, you had to flash a generic 2.3 ROM via ODIN before you could flash a custom one. flashing a gingerbread darky's ROM over a froyo custom ROM directly using CWM caused all kinds of problems.
now that the official Samsung XXLPQ ICS is out, i want to flash to a pre-rooted version of it with CF-Root kernel (the ones that wanam himself has uploaded). but should i flash via ODIN to an official ICS first, and then root + flash the wanam custom version, just like i had to do when going from 2.2 to 2.3 on my original SGS?

If i helped please consider clicking yes, thats what my dog always wanted ! Sent from under my bed
Sorry for the previous post i clicked it while it ways empty by wrong
Just get ur phone into download mode and flash the stock jpq
After that do wipe cache and factory and ull be good to go
isn't the problem with doing that the fact that the bootloader will be upgraded as well, meaning i can't reset the flash counter with my USB jig anymore?

Not really needed .
But this is what i always do with any major upgrade or new custom rom .
titanium backup and nandroid backup
Wipe.format system data cache .
Install stock rom of same version
Root with CWM and Root kernel.
Flash new rom .
result no problems .
jje
Restore backed up apps .
Hi there guys!!! Thank you all in advance for all the great info and roms and tweaks this site has been providing me since my HTC Desire days.
So my question is this.I've rooted my phone. Then did a nandroid of my rooted stock rom. And then tried a couple of roms and now I'm back to the rooted stock rom(don't ask me why...maybe because I like all that 'jing bang' ). So now that I'm back on my rooted stock rom will I be eligible for OTA upgrades?? Or do I need to COMPLETELY return to stock taking the Odin route???

I believe you will have problems with OTA updates, being rooted - they may download, but fail to install. Full Odin-able releases tend to appear at the same time as OTA updates, so if you want to keep root, I'd tend to use Odin/Mobile Odin to update,
Thnx a ton mate.
I think I'll be keeping a close eye on the official firmware release thread.

i recently had to get a replacement and without thinking i installed the latest update, I can still root it of course but i like to have a stock ICS backup to use Freedom IAP since its always been buggy on JellyBean for me. on ICS it works completely fine. can i either re-flash the entire phone? i used to do that all the time on Moto phones. or would just flashing a stock ICS rom work??

Best option is to go s-off. Then you can go from whatever rom you want to any other one easily.
If you have the latest update (3.16) and are still s-on, there is no way for you to go back to any ICS rom.
If you are on 3.15, you should be able to flash any ICS based rom or backup.
never mind
