Is there any way of connecting a jelly bean device to mac OSX?
I have successfully transferred files using AFT before, but after flashing a JB ROM, my mac has stopped detecting my GSIII.
I'm sure that there are other mac users out there. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Air droid from Play Store. Try it, its really good
Disable debug mode, try the media transfer option. Works for me with SuperNexus, whereas stock only worked with debug and camera mode.

Edit: Also do try the air droid apl. Although direct usb is way faster, I'm fond of air droid and how ellegantly simple it is.

Does anyone know how to get a mac laptop to recognize my fascinate? I need to be able to push files to my fascinate with my mac laptop. I have installed heimdall and when I try to flash a file it says "failed to detect compatible device". I even installed parallels desktop and have windows on my mac as well and I can't use Odin because it says "no drivers found". I have downloaded the drivers and installed them but it still says "no drivers found". Any help would be much appreciated.

As another OS X user, I am faced with the same problem with Heimdall not recognizing my Fascinate. I don't know how to rectify this issue.
However, I have found that I have to enable USB Debug Mode (under Applications/Development) in the settings prior to connecting the USB each time I want to connect to my mac for file swap. I don't think I needed to do this before, so I think it's due either to the ROM or kernel I'm using.

This suggestion is for heimdall, i don't know if it works with mac or not.
Did you plug the phone in with it in DL mode, open the heimdall files, open the drivers file in there and run zadig? You have to have to be in DL mode while in zadig then you go to options, at the top, check list all devices, it will say samsung usb composite device, or samsumg android composite usb. Anyway it is something like that, heimdall wont work in windows either if you dont do this step. hope that helps. as for odin i think there is a program out there called odin clone but i have no idea where to find it, maybe google does.
Heimdall doesn't support the Fascinate on Mac, so either install Linux or Windows.

I have windows installed on my Mac via parallels desktop and when I put my phone in download mode and try to install drivers, where it says "list all devices" it doesn't have Samsung composite as an option.

The problem isn't with Heimdall or OS X. The issue is with Samsung's faulty secondary bootloader not adhering to the USB specification. As such the device won't be recognised by OS X or even a virtual machine running inside OS X.

So, basically what you are telling me is that I will not be able to push files to my fascinate with my Mac, correct? The problem is the fascinate communicating with Mac right? Can't be done?

Well I just wasted about an hour getting all of the necessary things to get Heimdall running, so this is disappointing to hear. From what I read, I thought that was an Eclair issue and that it might be solved with the Froyo update?

Assuming that Samsung haven't released a working secondary bootloader for the Fascinate, then you can't use OS X to flash. "Mac" and "OS X" aren't the same thing, if you want you could install Linux or Windows on your Mac and you would still be able to flash. That's hardly ideal but it's Samsung's fault and there's not a whole lot anyone else can do about it.

You're talking about partitioning my hard drive? Because I have windows running on my mac via parallels desktop. I would need to run boot camp or something like that?
I was just thinking boot camp myself, but if the issue is how Apple handles the USB on the computer, then the problem would still be there, cause the windows drivers installed through boot camp for the Mac hardware are still written by apple, and the physical hardware of the laptop will also remain the same, so....

I can't seem to be able to connect my SGS3 to my Mac running OS X Lion in MTP mode. Android File Transfer does not recognize the phone. On stock roms this works fine, at least if I choose CTP instead of MTP.
Anyone tried CM9 with Mac OS X Lion? Does this work for you?

Agreed, although im on verizon with just the stock rom. MTP mode wont work at all but the camera one will. Both work fine on snow leopard so must be a lion thing. Hopefully mountain lion will fix it?
Hey.
I'm currently on Cyanogenmod 10.1 and I am developing an app for college using Eclipse.
My phone wont get picked up by Eclipse when I try to run it on the phone.
Kies doesn't detect my phone no matter what storage mode it is in.
So how can I fix this?
Or is it unsupported with Cyanogenmod?
Also I tried USB debugging, you enable it by clicking on the Cyanogenmod build several times, still doesn't work.
Any help would be sweet!
I don't know about eclipse, but i know only stock works with kies

Ah only stock works with Kies?
Maybe I won't be lucky then.
And yeah I even just reinstalled the drivers there.
Would make it so much easier if I could simply run the program straight off my phone rather than have to compile it every time in Eclipse.

Another possibility is that considering CM 10.1 is still in nightly build stages (Even with the M2 release) and not a final product it's possible that the USB debugging connection may not be playing nice with your computer, does ADB recognize your phone? Does the computer recognize the device at all? The other possibility is to compile the program with eclipse, then after eclipse compiles it locate the compiled program, and push the compiled program to your phone to test it out. Also the reason it has to compile in eclipse and not just run off the phone, is that the Java and XML code (Among other things) that make up the program must be compiled into a .apk package file so Android can read and run the program. If the Java and XML code was left uncompiled and just ran off the phone Android wouldn't be able to run the program.
Yeah I used to compile and push them onto the phone but my friend showed me his S3 running straight off eclipse.
And yeah the PC picks up the phone and I can put files on it no problem. What is the ADB thing?

Is your friend's Galaxy S3 rooted and is it running as custom ROM? And to answer you question ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge (Part of the Android SDK) it is an extremely helpful tool that allows you to communicate with your Android device and issue commands to it either by attaching it your computer through a USB cable or wirelessly using Wifi. One of the things you could do with ADB is push the compiled apk file to your device without having to hook the device up to your computer through USB every time you want to test out a new build of your application. You can learn more about ADB from here. You can download the Android SDK which allows you to install ADB from here.

Glad I could help, Cyanogenmod may be causing it from not working as some apps and other services are sometimes incompatible or have issues on devices running Cyanogenmod.

Thanks a lot for your fast reply. The problem is that in fact many Win7 prof 64bit computers have problems with mtp. Also mine... I had this problem also with a motorola milestone 2 a few month ago and the only possibility to get connected was to reset my computer and to install Win 7 from the beginning. It was not funny but afterwards it worked with mtp.
Yesterda the support of HTC was not able to connect me with mtp. We telephoned about five hours and a connection to my computer didn´t work. So what to do?
greetings

Fix your computer, what else can i tell you, i never had MTP problems with various phones and several computers running win7/8/8.1.
Install proper antivirus so you dot get infected, and dont use some stupid boosting or registry tools which may disable important system services unless you know what your doing.

Did you unlock it again? I'm guessing since you said you can't root means that you didn't use the stock image that was already rooted. Just had this same issue with a friend, flashed back to stock w/root, factory reset everything, and it worked. Then backed up everything and went to a new rom.
No I didnt unlock. Im uploading pics to show my problem.
My phone is not detected at all when plugged up to pc its just charged so no adb or rooting commands.
I used CASUAL but when it tries to push the PIT file it fails. Odin also fails when trying to use the PIT file and when it comes to flashing the modem

Not in mtp, ptp, or adb. Nothing at all except indication that its in a power source.

hi,
ideally, Nand Erase All option is not to be selected in Odin which you selected....this option has unexpected problem like the one you encountered and hence this is the cause of your handset issue of Banseband & IMEI unknown. Please avoid this option in future.

Have you tried a different cable, for some reason it seems this phone is picky on what cables and even what USB port it wants to work on. Don't use a USB 3.0 port use a US 2.0.

Have you tried wireless adb? What about airdroid? Just wondering exactly where you stand? Did the phone show a notification when plugged in? The Devil is in the details.
