i tried the stuff on the links google gave me, still not working

I sure hope you're in the right forum, your Odin says Epic 4G for some reason.
Have you tried starting Odin on the PC before plugging in your phone?

i have version 1.85 and it says epic 4g idk why though.

Huh. Maybe I just never had to use Odin that much and it really does say that. :silly:
Anyway, yj121 did you go ahead and try starting Odin first, then plugging your phone in? Did that not work?

this is what comes up

EDIT: So I guess you have to plug the phone into the computer to get into download mode, but it should work so long as Odin is already running. Your picture seems to indicate that Odin is indeed recognizing your phone and attempting to write to it, so that's good.
You should tell us what you're trying to do, what packages you downloaded, what happened to your phone beforehand, what guides you're following, etc. More information will help us figure out what you're having problems with. Then maybe someone smarter than I can help you figure out what's happening.

plug in your phone to the computer (while its on) and hold down power, volume up and down buttons. when the thing pops up, let go of all the buttons and hit volume up, that should bring you into download mode.
OR
turn ur phone off, while plugging in your powered-off phone to the computer, hold the volume up and down button.

I edited my post again. Tell us what you're trying to do, someone else will hopefully help you out, because I'm pretty stumped at this point.

I'm trying to go to stock rom, like firmware that came out-of-the-box but everytime i try to use ODIN it doesnt let me, ive tried mutiple ways such as disabling debugging, trying to use different .tar files, different versions of odin, different ways of going into odin (starting odin first, plugging phone in/out of odin) restarting my phone several times, pulling out sim/sd card, making sure kies isnt running in the background, etc. none of these ways work for me. everytime i go, ODIN gets stuck on SetupConnection.. or it goes after SetupConnection but then fails at Complete(Write) operation failed. i have also tried using a one click thing where i just plug in the phone, and then i hit start and it should go (Picture attatched) but that doesnt seem to work either. ive been doing this the ENTIRE day and its starting to frustrate me because there is no way to go back to stock firmware in case i have to give in my phone for repair or something.

I didn't say this earlier because its obvious. But u do have the proper drivers already installed for the phone I assume....

yea i already have the right drivers installed, i checked in device manager before i started

This could be due to a number of possible issues: The computer you are using, USB port, USB cable, usb driver, user error. Those are the main things to look at.
In Windows 7 "Uninstall or change a program" dialog (or Add Remove Programs in earlier versions) you should see SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones. If you suspect it is a driver issue, uninstall this item, reboot and reinstall, then reboot again.
However, first I would suspect a bad cable or a bad port. Just changing ports, or changing to a good cable (the one that came with the phone is usually the best choice) could solve the problem. Or using a different computer.
Just to make sure it's not user error, here is a set of checkpoints:
How to use stand-alone Odin3 to flash firmware:
Follow and recheck each of the following steps. Do them in order listed, as some steps are dependent on previous steps. Instructions are for Odin3 v1.85. It should work with any version of Odin, but some details, like color of items, may be different.
1.) Open Odin on the Windows Desktop.
2.) Have the USB cable plugged into USB port on the computer, but *Not* plugged in to the phone.
3.) Shut the phone off.
4.) While holding down the vol+ & vol- keys, plug micro-usb plug into phone.
5.) In Odin, you should get the yellow box under where it says ID:COM with the text 0:[COMx], and in the Message area, <ID:0/00x> Added!! where x is some number, usually 1-8.
6.) In Odin, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked and all other items are not checked.
7.) Click on the PDA button. Browse to the tar file you want to install and select it so its path appears in the text edit box next to the button.
8.) Make sure the check box next to the PDA button is checked.
9.) Click the Start button.
10.) You should see the green progress bar advancing. Success!

[Q] Stuck In Download Mode

after a couple failed odin flashes
my PHONE is STUCK in DOWNLOAD MODE and i can't use ODIN because my PC now says USB NOT RECOGNIZED
ive uninstalled/reinstalled driver
different ports..different usb cables..different pc and still no luck..and yes ive searched xda..and i have yet to find anyone with similar issues..any ideas?
i finally got my phone to work
IT SEEMS LIKE WINDOWS DOESNT BOTHER TO TRY TO INSTALL THE DRIVERS SO YOU HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY THROUGH DEVICE MANAGER
1) download http://www.multiupload.com/NMPX3KMWRS
this has the 64 & 32 bit driver folders..put which ever one u use on ur desktop
2) open device manager..plug your phone..if your pc says usb not recognized and unknown device shows in device manager..right click..properties..then uninstall it..
3) unplug ur phone..plug it back in then unknow device should show up in device manager..go to its properties then click update driver..the select own drivers..then browse to the 64 or 32 bit folder and click ok then next..it will try to install but you might get a error..
hopefully it will say install gadget serial and fail..that means ur pc kinda recognizes it
then all u ahve to do is from there is go to device manager..go to the properties of gadget serial..update driver..and browse to the driver folder..and it should install..then u have to do it a couple of more times for when it recognizes other samsung devices such as the adb and composite
Instructions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803492
First, download http://www.multiupload.com/NMPX3KMWRS
This contains Odin, the Samsung Drivers, stock odin rom, updated odin rom, pit file.
If you don't want to lose your settings, etc. you can skip to the second part. If your phone still doesn't work than start from the top.
-PART 1-
Step 1.) Make sure you have the appropriate drivers installed for your phone. If you are on 64bit then choose 64, if you are on 32 choose 32. You may already have the drivers installed and it will tell you after you try to install them.
Step 2.) Power your phone off
Step 3.) Open Odin.exe and plug a usb cable to your computer that will connect to your phone (do not plug it in to the phone yet, just the computer)
Step 4.) Hold down both volume buttons at the same time and while holding them down plug the usb into your phone. You should see a COM message show up in Odin.
Step 5.) To ensure your phone is back to stock, in odin you will want to check the repartition button. ONLY CHECK IT WHEN YOU ARE FLASHING BACK TO STOCK. Leave the other check boxes the way they are.
Step 6.) Click the PIT button and select the 512.pit file
Step 7.) Click the PDA button and select Original.tar and then click Start
It should go through a bunch of steps and then your phone will reboot. Below are the steps to update it to the latest release.
Close Odin and power your phone off.
-PART 2-
Step 1.) Open Odin.exe and plug a usb cable to your computer that will connect to your phone (do not plug it in to the phone yet, just the computer)
Step 2.) Hold down both volume buttons at the same time and while holding them down plug the usb into your phone. You should see a COM message show up in Odin.
Step 3.) Leave all check boxes the way they are. Do NOT check the repartition box.
Step 4.) Click the PIT button and select the 512.pit file
Step 5.) Click the PDA button and select T959UVJI6.tar and then click Start
Hope this helps!!!

I've also got this probem. Did you by any chance install the voodoo thing? Apparently it messes up your phone if you flash over it.
I think I might buy one with a broken screen for 200ish...............but I really hope I dont have to.
Anyone have a fix for this yet?
@xaymaca i finally got mines to work after 48 hours but it seems like it depends on luck

no basically first i uninstalled the "unknown device" through device manager
then i would plug the phone..go to device manager and update the drive manually..until gadget serial showed up..if not..i repeat the process..
then when gadget serial shows up..update its driver manually..then samsung adb should show up in device manager..it takes alot of time and patience
If your system still fails to recognize your phone. Try installing Mini Kies. Do a quick search there are plenty of download links for that software. Make sure you restart your system after uninstalling the device.
I had similar issues with myn. But eventually got over with by doing a clean install off the drivers.. Hope this helps.
so i did that and it recognized my phone. it says it on the computer and on odin it changed from 0:[COM4] to 1:[COM3]. but it still stays stuck on set PIT file DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET.

what tar and pit files are you using, i had similar issues when i tried odin'ing back to ji6. however odin'ing to stock JFD worked beautifully. if you need help finding the proper odin files here is a mirror of them: Odin Mirrors
This happened to me before, and someone mentioned it earlier. Get into device manager on windows, go to the Universal Serial Bus (USB) section, and I uninstalled every option you see in there. Restart your computer and windows will automatically reinstall those items apon reboot. The phone should now be detectable...
EDIT: Fail, it appears you already got it solved...
hey im not sure what tar abd pit files are. im really new to this. question, with the mirror how would i use it? will it still work with my phone trippin lol and not being picked up on my computer.

Rooting guide of Intratech DOES work! :)

Hi all! The rooting guide of Intratech given here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 DOES NOT WORK! I have an SGS II Kernel version of KE8 (India) and I tried to follow the steps given in the guide, but when I open ODIN and connect my phone in Download mode with my laptop via USB Cable, ODIN is not connecting to the phone. The box meant to turn yellow does NOT change color. Nothing happens at all. Why is this so? I cannot post in the relevant thread because I am a newbie in the forun
Have you installed kies first to get the drivers?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Yes, of course, I have the latest version of Kies installed on my laptop and I use it regularly to connect with my SGS II. I kept Kies closed when trying the rooting procedure as mentioned in Intratech's guide. Started phone in download mode. Opened Odin on laptop, then connected phone via USB........the box which is supposed to turn yellow on connection, doesn't light up. Nothing happens at all.

I suggest to you that the overwhelming majority of the people who use the guide will disagree with you and provide evidence to the fact that it does, indeed, work. The fact that it does not work for you suggest that you are doing something wrong or have a problem with your computer.
I would suggest that you ensure that KIES is also closed in the system tray of your computer before opening Odin and connecting the phone. Also ensure that your computer has an internet connection and is able to connect to windows update to download and install drivers. If that doesn't work then change USB port or computer.
By all means, if you find a way that works then feel free to write your own guide. More information is good and maybe others might find your method, if you discover one, easier to follow.
@Intratech: Hi. Thanks for your reply. Ok, so it is not working for me. Can you help?
My laptop is working on Windows 7 Home Premium which is upto date in all respects. My USB port is working fine as I am able to connect my SGS II to Kies through that. Kies was closed when I tried to connect to Odin. Odin version is 1.85. While the phone (in download mode) is connected to the laptop, and Odin is Open, nothing happens. Nothing.

Yes, Kies is closed in system tray also. Fully closed. Odin opens, and I see the Odin screen as per your screen shots, but the box which is supposed to light up yellow, does not.
Are you using the Samsung USB cable or a HTC one?
Samsung USB cable which came with the phone box pack. I can see the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes checked. Nothing else is checked, not even the PDA button. The box saying ID:COM (which is supposed to light up) is blank.
u need to check pda and load the file u want to flash it
then click on start
Look in your program and features list, found in control panel, and see if you have a listing for Samsung USB driver for mobile phones there. If you do then uninstall it and uninstall KIES. Download a new copy of KIES from Samsung and install it. After installing it, make sure you don't have USB debug ticked, connect the phone and leave it until all the drivers install. After that remove the device and lose KIES. Put the tick in USB debugging and connect the phone and leave it so that any needed drivers install. After this put the phone in download mode and connect it, without opening KIES or ODIN, and leave it to download any drivers needed. If it downloads and install any drivers wait for it to finish, once it does then you can go ahead and use Odin normally.
If this doesn't work your PC is at fault, fix it.

How you going to flash without connecting to the device?
Turn USB debugging off on phone .USB connection should be to a motherboard port .
Reboot phone set phone to connect in USB mass storage mode .
Connect cable wait for Windows to load drivers . You should be able to browse phone via Windows explorer if USB drivers are correct .If so remove cable and reboot phone to download mode . Open Odin select files to load connect cable .
That fails then
Rooting guide of intratech does not work! for you your PC or your phone but for everyone else so give up .
jje
@cyberwarfare: Yes, I tried that. The file loaded, I pressed start. Yet nothing happened. I just saw one line notification in the left hand side column of Odin, which read something like "successes: 0/failures: 0". I am speaking from memory here. Nothing really happened even after loading PDA and pressing the Start button.
@Intratech: Yes, both Kies and Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones are there in my program list. I downloaded Kies from their India support site : http://www.samsung.com/in/support/d...1&prd_mdl_cd=GT-I9100LKAINU&srchword=GT-I9100
Worth mentioning here that the USB debug check box was ticked when I tried to Root with Odin.
So basically, you're asking me to uninstall & reinstall Kies and its drivers. Ok, will do. It will take time so will do it when I have a little more time on my hands. Thanks for your help & your time. I appreciate. If you have time, then look at my other post here which says, "7 major issues with SGS II" ...... and help with solving my other issues like that of bluetooth not connecting and phone ringer's erratic behaviour. Thanks a ton.
Mate I haven't used the Indian firmware so I'm not too sure about troubleshooting it. There is an Indian thread in the general forum where you may be able to get more help with the issues you have.
@JJEgan: Thanks for replying. All my USB Ports are on the motherboard itself, worth mentioning that the same USB port works fine when I connect the phone to the laptop. Am able to transfer files to and fro via the same USB port.
"set phone to connect in USB mass storage mode".....how do I do that? Where to find that in phone settings?
I am able to browse the contents/files on the phone very well...so this proves my drivers are fine. So which basically means, that Intratech's rooting guide does not work FOR ME! Happy? This may be a problem specific to the India specific phones....Kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE8-CL214845

PDA : I9100XWKE8
Phone : I9100DDKE2
CSC : I9100ODDKE2

@Intratech: Thanks mate. I've posted my problem in the India specific thread also.....lets see if someone replies. But the problem is not with the rooting procedure, the problem is that I can't even seem to get started with the procedure as there is no connection between Odin and the phone.
Nah, it's not with the firmware. The other Indians who use it have no issue following the guide.
Please try and reinstall everything as I've stated and see if that work. Also, when you go into download mode what do you see on the screen?
In download mode I see a static warning on the screen which tells me of the risk and tells me I have to press the VOL down button to cancel this, and there is a yellow triangle at the bottom. The screen stays there as I connect the USB cable to the laptop.

The screen message you are not reading is the sentence above the one you posted .

[q] help bricked my galaxy s2

I'm screwed! I was installing

CODE_I9100XWKE7_CL215725_REV02_user_low.tar.md5
GT-I9100-CSC-XEUKD1.tar
and something happened in Odin3 and it froze, so I took the battery out and tried to restart it and now all I get is a blue and yellow screen that says Android System Recovery. I don't have anything backed up on the device, it didn't come with a microSD card, and it now says
Deleting Cryption Meta Data
-Copying media files....
#manual mode#
updating application....
applying multi-CSC
and that's it. When I hit reboot phone all I get is a screen with a triangle and an android symbol and when I hit apply update from sd card, same symbol, even when I tried to put a .TAR file on my dad's EVO microSD card and put it into the galaxy.
Also, now the USB cable doesn't recognize my phone for some reason so when I go back to ODIN mode it says
Product name - GT-i9100
Custom Binary Download - Yes (1 count)
Current Binary Samsung Official
When I try to restart the phone, it goes straight to the android recovery screen mentioned above, where I can't do anything, and then when I get into the Odin mode, it won't recognize the usb cable so I can link up to Odin3 V1.83 on the computer. Also tried the usb cable on other computers didn't find my phone. Also, as of right now it's not rooted, but I was in the process of rooting, when I realized I missed the Over the Air step so when I Odin3 an insecure.TAR file the WIFI was broke so S2 Root kept saying can't find usb connection even though it was connected, and somewhere along the line when I was trying to restore the radio's by installing the 3 files above, when it crashed something messed up? Now I can't do anything. PLEASE HELP
SO I AM STUCK! Please help????????

I know this topic is old, but I am essentially having the same problem, I don't think it was really solved for the first guy, he can't flash the original rom using odin, because odin doesn't recognize his phone. And that is my issue too, I'm able to get into download mode/odin mode whatever, I plug in the usb cable, nothing, odin doesn't recognize it, I don't get a little sound like I do when I usually plug in a usb cable. Please any ideas would be appreciated.

And that is my issue too, I'm able to get into download mode/odin mode whatever, I plug in the usb cable, nothing, odin doesn't recognize it, I don't get a little sound like I do when I usually plug in a usb cable. Please any ideas would be appreciated.

Try different versions of Odin (for example, if you're using V4, try V3 1.3 & V3 1.85 and vice versa), try different USB ports (particularly if you're using a port attached to a hub. You need to use a powered port), different USB cables & finally different PC's/different versions of Windoze if you need to.
Also, when you fire up Odin, check Task Manager in Windoze & make absolutely certain Kies or any processes associated with it (if you're not sure what these are, Google/search for them) are not running at the same time. As I've said, you need the drivers that come with Kies to use Odin, but Odin won't work if Kies or anything associated with it is running at the same time.
Try uninstalling Kies on your PC (you need the drivers that come with Kies for Odin to work), rebooting, reinstalling Kies (search for it), rebooting.
If none of that works try cleaning the USB socket of the phone a Q-tip (cotton bud) & some isopropyl alcohol. And if that doesn't work, it might be a case of the USB circuitry of the phone being shot (unless you haven't tried the above steps or are not following the right steps, which we'll never know because we're not there with you).
Was also having the same problem. I managed to get round it by flashing an I9100 package with all the files (PDA, PHONE, BOOT, CSC, PIT) and ticking re-partition. If I'm right, this completely wipes the phone and flashes this over, basically leaving you on a fresh slate.
Hope I helped!

Using PIT files is not recommended more brick a phone by flashing PIT than rescue it .

[Q] Windows Not Recognizing Device

Hi guys, was having a few problems with my phone and decided that I'd flash the stock ROM again.
Went into ODIN as you do, and as I was flashing the stock ROM, for some reason or another I heard the disconnect/reconnect noise that Windows makes when you remove a device then FAIL came up in ODIN.
Now my phone's stuck with a phone connecting to a computer on the charge screen, it can't go into recovery mode but it can go into download mode.
Tried connecting it to my PC in download mode, and even though I've got the Samsung USB Drivers installed I get the 'USB Device Not Recognized' message, which means I can't flash the stock ROM in ODIN anymore.
Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I have it installed, and I installed the USB drivers from the soft bricked sticky in this section. Neither have helped.
Hi!
Hi, you guys install ADB on your system? And also USB debugging mode on the phone?
Should be turned on which can be done by going to Settings>Applications>Development and select USB debugging.
Try this, for me its works

I can't even turn the phone on at the moment. Only thing I can do is go into Download mode.
Help
Try this, take out the battery, then press and hold the ON button for 7-10 seconds (the longer the better). Reinsert the battery, then press ON button to start it. This is a soft reset, and wipes the temporary memory and empties all remaining power in the circuits. This helps on many phones and even laptops that won't start properly or show anything on screen.
If this does not work, try the next step. Again, do as above. But after inserting the battery, do not turn the phone on, but press and hold the ON button and the HOME button at the same time for 7-10 seconds. This is a hard reset, and works best if done after a soft reset. Just be sure the battery has at least some juice in it and isn't empty. If possible, try with another battery if this does not work.
Hope this helps!
Try going to device manager, you will probably find your device as an unrecognized device, uninstall the drivers, unplug and then plug it again and see.
if the prblm is hard then do a fresh installation of kies, device etec etc.....but if u have ur device in the device list on pc then first uninstall it...if possible try recovery mode and reset...
I tried everything you guys have suggested and none of that worked. Anyone else got any ideas?
Try everything (and I mean everything) on the following list. Given the problems you've had & that you've already tried some of these things, I'd try another PC. And if it doesn't work first go on another PC, then go thru the list & try everything on the 2nd PC.
*Ensure Kies & it's processes aren't running in Windoze task manager. Kill them if they are.
*Try different USB ports; you must be using a 'powered' or mainboard port.
*Try different USB cables (particularly the cable that came with the phone if you're not using it now)
*Try different versions of Odin (search on here/Google)
*Uninstall Kies, reboot, redownload & reinstall it, reboot, try the flash again. Also run Windoze Update.
*And if all this fails, try a different PC.
Tried all the above and a different PC.
It didn't work. I could fix the phone if the computer would pick up that the phone's connected - it just doesn't.
Total Removal of KIES including registry entries .
Reboot PC install a new copy of Kies .
Phone backup data and factory reset .
Set phone to USB storage mode using the Samsung cable connect to PC and wait for Windows to find USB drivers .Remove cable reboot phone .
Start Kies connect with cable wait for Kies to find the phone .
Note USB Debugging OFF and cable connects to a direct motherboard port only .
Nothing then only further suggestion would be to Format the PC and start over with a clean Windows install .

I can't turn the phone on, it's stuck on the phone, triangle, PC screen.
I've tried fresh installs on three different PC's.

That's a forced download mode.
Try a blind flash to a stock firmware from Odin while connected to your computer with the phone on this screen. Even if Odin doesn't seem to register that it's connected. I've heard of at least one person this worked for.
At this point, you really have nothing to lose by trying this.
Bit of an update, I plugged it in again and it installed some drivers and ODIN picked it up. Only for it to disconnect a few moments later, now it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over but ODIN's not picking it up.

I know you said you tried a different cable, but that sounds suspiciously like a bad cable.
It's not the cable, thanks any way.
Update 2: I managed to get it to connect long enough to flash the stock Kernel. Still didn't reboot. Then I connected it again and flashed the stock ROM, which bricked it again. Then I flashed the stock kernel and it works!
However, there is a problem:
When the phone gets turned off, it constantly shows the charging battery icon with warning triangle and a thermostat next to it. I can't turn the phone on because of this unless I go into Recovery mode and reboot system.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Now this sounds like a faulty/dirty/bad usb port.

This was my original thought and my reasoning for flashing a stock ROM in the first place!

I in no way recommend this, and not sure I would do it if I ever started having this issue...
BUT - I have heard that some people faced with this condition have fixed it by physically moving the small wafer board inside the USB port with a precision screwdriver (gently!) to a more "centered" position.
If that doesn't work, look at replacing that part. Either via warranty service if you still have it, or a service center.

[Q] your smarter, help plz

ok guys, first things first. YES i did search, i read threads for hours. So if your just gonna come to bash on me... get off it.
So i had a bad flash, oh no. Phone was stuck in a bootloop, got it to download mode and put it thru odin. Well odin said FAILED. now i can still get into DL mode but its no longer a bootloop, now its a lil picture of a phone linked to a computer when i turn it on.
SO heres the prob, i can get into DL mode, but odin refuses to recognize my phone. Ive tried other usb ports, other cords, unistalled and reinstalled odin and the drivers. USB debugging is off says aio toolbox. So what do i do now? any suggestions im not thinking of?
Any help is greatly appreciated and will b thanked. =)
Phone to PC screen still should be able to flash through.
Have you tried a different computer? One that your phone has never been in contact with?
What was the FAILED error when you tried to ODIN initially?
Can you get into recovery by chance?
i have tried a different computer, but not one it has never been on b4.
And toast, i actually dont know if i can get into recovery. Im about to look up how and try that

Gingerbread bootloader uses this combo:
For Recovery - Lower Volume Key + Power Button
For Download - Upper Volume Key + Power Button
If you have Froyo bootloader:
For Recovery - Both Volume Keys + Power Button
For Download - Both Volume Keys and Connect USB Cable
alright, i can use the hardware buttons to get into download just fine. But when i try to get into recovery it only gives me the Phone -- ! -- Computer icon. ITs getting annoying lol
Ok. I didn't figure that would work, but it wasn't going to hurt anything to try do you have any friends with Macs? You could try it on one of them with Heimdall. That would be another option to try.
Also, check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8149503
Read all the posts, there is some good stuff in there.
+1 on recommended thread. It sounds just like your issue. Definitely try the Heimdall AIO one click t959 for Windows.
sent from the depths of helly bean
nothin yet :/
Google eugenes froyo that does not brick, read the op carefully, because after you odin the tar file, you will have an error message, thats ok, odin eclair and you should pass.
Read it 10 times, you'll reboot in cwm with an error message, ok, reboot, download, eclair.
stupid question sorry, but do you have sdk platform tools installed?
im not sure. i downloaded something called sdk manager, but it closes the moment u open it.
SDK platform tools is a large program, But if your computer has recognized your phone up till now, you probly have the right drivers, by the way have you cleaned your usb port? toothbrush and an electronics cleaner or alcohol very lightly, never know.
ok guys. heres the update. I tried all the links you guys have kindly tossed my way. nothin. Im on a different computer even and downloaded the drivers, odin, toolbox, etc. The phone still isnt recognized. I Have no clue why, is the reason cause usb debugging is off? the only 2 screens i can get to r download and phone ! computer. Am i bricked for good??? =(

You are putting your phone into download mode before using odin right? You must have your phone in download mode for odin to recognize it. I'm guessing you have done this but I wasn't sure after reading through this thread, hope you get up and running again.

Ok, I just went through this over the past weekend with a spare Vibe that I have. Odin would not recognize it at all for my. I would here the Ding and then nothing. No yellow COM box, no driver installation, nothing.
Here is what I did:
First I went into Device Manager and with the phone plugged in (needs to be plugged in so you can see the yellow!), I uninstalled everything with Samsung's name tagged to it (including my SGS3 and SGS2 drivers).
Then I went here and downloaded and installed Heimdall (take note that you have to make sure that libusb-1.0 is correctly installed). There is an exe file in there (might be in the Heimdall thread here in the Vibe section), that allows you to update the drivers. That is where you would replace the Windows with libusb-1.0.
Then I plugged in my USB to PC and to phone and put it in Download mode. Nothing. So I left it plugged into the phone still but unplugged from PC and move ports. I have 3 ports and believe it or not, the one farthest from the power source/MB was the one that work. As soon as I plugged it in, I heard the Ding and saw the box pull up auto-installing the drivers.
After that, I went to Utilities in Heimdall to make sure detected. It was and I flashed Mr_Psycho's package (no pun intended ) via the normal Heimdall instructions.
Believe me, I have spent a ton of time on this and troubleshooted everything from dead USB to dead motherboard. It was a real PITA.
Edit:: If you need any of the files, Heimdall version or Drivers, just PM me and I will send them to you. You are not Bricked, just your PC's vision is clouded a bit.
woodrube i greatly appreciate the mass amount of help. i will try all the above as soon as im home and report back to u
alright, i deleted everything, reinstalled, tried heimdall still nothing. I am in download mode but laptop wont recognize anything. it says the correct drivers are installed but then says usb device not recognized, this is killing me as i need my phone imma post a video tonight of what im doing, hopefully someone sees im doing something wrong
