Neo V ram Question. - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello,
My neo V is just a day old and i have Unlocked its Bl and have put ice cream pureness rom. Its my first time doing this. I had a question that is when i use task killer i always end up with max ram remaining at about 120 - 140 mb. Is this normal? i mean my friends galaxy s shows much more free ram. But both the mobiles have 512 mb ram and neo v has 335 usable. Is there a way to increase this?

DO NOT USE TASK KILLERS. they sometimes drain battery, and also cause other problems..they can even slow down your phone.
also do not use any ram boosting applications. try an app called "fast reboot". its safe. and try supercharging,if u are rooted.

I would never use task killers period And I suspect that your friend's Galaxy S is running GB?
335 total mb of ram is for apps. The rest is reserved for the system, so no you can't increase it.

Yes it is. I reverted back to GB currently using codename 8 rom its great and really fast. I guess ICS is not yet ready and since lots of games dont run on it i had to revert back to GB. This rom uses a lot less ram and i always have 170+ mb ram remaining.

HI there is a simple way to speed up your phone just root it first (any working rooting method...but i prefer eroot.exe tool to root its just one click root search in xda itself you will find that app.) then just use link2sd no need to partition in ICS..just install link2sd and then move apps to sd no matter what msg it gives no prob will happen except some appp's widgets wont work if moved to sd card (example advanced task killer's widget).then freeze unwanted apps that u need but dont use it often.rather than uninstalling ..even move system apps like gtalk 3d camera or freeze them ..then u willl get more ram and the speed will increase..also disable the default launcher and use launcher pro..its lite and does not require more memory..experience it .thank you.

You can try Supercharger.
If you are not interested with theming and much customization, you can odex your rom.

What can I do with running apps that I don't use which run ever and ever in background..
Sent from my X10 using xda premium
Use Ram Manager from market
Flash roms that use little ram. Or delete some background programs/apps/systemtools you don´t need via root uninstaller. But remember the X10 only has 256 MB ram and you won´t get the whole 256 to use, because android needs some and this is unavoidable. Furthermore you can use Adrenaline Boost - but be careful ! Just search Adrenaline boost in forum or in google
If i helped, don´t be shy and hit the thanks button
Download advanced task manager then in settings set auto kill level to aggressive and auto kill frequency to when screen turns off works a dream
also to save memory you can actually move apps that cannot be moved to SD with app2sd by selecting move 2 SD on titanium backup pro by long pressing on the app u wish to move
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
But if u use App2SD, make sure your SDCard - Class is fast or may some tools wouldn´t work proper. Furtermore I don´t suggest Taskkiller for newbs, or useres which don´t know what it does. If you know the Android System, you will get to know that it manages programs automatically- it freezes and closes them if memory is needed. Task killers can damage your device and further drain your battery! If it always kills apps it can crash system tools! So think twice before installing a task killer

[APP] Task manager S III For LT15i

Hi . I have tested it .
It was work my LT15i with .587 .
Download the apk .
Move it to system folder .
Long press it and change the permissions to rw-r--r-- .
Then move it to system app folder .
and this is really ussesfully? or just a app more than sony laggy stuffs?
This is useless actually. It eat more ram than just display free ram. And task killer/clear memory actually eat more battery life cause android have to rebuild cache. This is one of the samsung crap app include in their device. Just use Setting to display your current ram stat.

[REQ][FIX PLEASE ISSIUE FOR ALL XPERIA] Launcher refresh

So the problem is like this, i have the Xperia Sola with .54 ICS, and i have the 4.2 by Serajr Xperia home launcher, the problem is every time i go to another app from the launcher, it refreshes every time, and i have to wait untill it loads all of my desktop widgets and icons, same goes for the app drawer, i have to manualy set it again to alphabeticaly order or wait 5 min till it gets back to the setings made by me. I tryed a different launcher, the stock ics .54 launcher, the yuga launcher, the new xperia home that works in parallel with the stock one, nova launcher, adw launcher, apex launcher, go launcher, next launcher, the same thing is happening. Excloded the launcher from taskkillers, even unninstalled the taskkillers. Nothing, still refresh after entering anorher app. Tryed wiping, cache, dalvik, reflash and reset nada... :| is there any fix for this constant refresh?

Are you on a custom kernel or do you have any mods installed ? Since you reflashed also, Im guessing its some app or mod you use each time thats clearing the Launcher from memory each time !

I thought also about that but i'm on stock firmware, only root cwm, the tabbed status bar and the 4.2 serajr launcher, stock kernel. As for the number of apps installed, usualy i have about 40 or so, but the issue persists even if i'm on the stock with no apps of mine installed, only the stock ones. Free ram, usualy 80-90 MB
go to settings
developer options
set maximum background process to 2
this will limit multitasking and give more free ram...
this is not a permanent solution bt more of a damage control... plz report back if it works... and btw 40mb free is a bit low... i always have atleast 80-90 mb free wid 36 apps

Plz limit the background process to standard.....
@op -
Ever tried factory reset???
i mentioned in the first post , i did not only once, the factory reset. As for the limit, think it this way, it annoys me a lot, so i tryed every setting i know it coud fix it or make a damage control, and that includes changing the background limit from no to standard, from standard to 1, from 1 to 2 from 2 to 3 and so on and so fourth

[Q] Xperia Mini Pro gets sluggish after a few days of use. What to do?

Hi,
I have an Xperia Mini Pro running stock 4.1.B.0.587 with MESA kernel 3.5. I have frozen/uninstalled quite a few of the bundled applications and I have replaced the default launcher with Nova Launcher Prime. After a reboot, the phone is quite snappy and fast, no lag when redrawing and everything is working very nicely together. However, after a few hours to a day of use, it gets quite sluggish: slow redraws, animations stutter, apps block/hang for a few seconds etc.
I would like to investigate this further, but I'm not quite sure of how to proceed. One thing that I have seen is that if I go Settings->Apps->Running, after a few hours to a a day of use, there are a few applications or services which say "restarting".
Do you guys have any ideas on what's going on?
Thank you!
One think I would suggest you is to debloat your phone as much as possible and then search for more ways!
Press THANKS if I helped,
Best Regards,
AJ

No, I'm not using any task killer or other system tuning apps, just the stock ROM without the bloatware. Otherwise, I use "normal", day-to-day apps.

Yep pimp my Rom is good....also try some awesome tweaks of project fluid by mv_style and also the v6 supercharger, etc...that will make ur Rom faster but you can't anyhow expect very much from the stock Rom but u can always depend on custom roms based on stock if you want...

Thank you for the suggestion, I'll try it one of these days. Any other ideas, guys?
Use Android Assistant (18 features) and clean the cache. Do it often, ICS really generates a lot of cache compared to GB.
Though the best thing to do would be to flash a GB rom if you want your phone to be really smooth :good:
Simply restarting the phone will do the job!
Restart it once every (two) day(s).
or
Change the minfree and ADJ settings.
EDiT: check your vfs_cache_pressure value
If it's low, set a higher setting. MESA kernel sets it to 30, which is quite low and causes lags at the end of the day.
You can try to raise it to default stock 100 and see if that helps
Code:
echo "200" > /proc/sys/vm/vfs_cache_pressure;
Flash a custom ROM. Usually they last longer without lag then stock ROM.
Also another solution is, you can try my X-PLODE tweaks. I think it should really boost your phone since it's on stock ROM.
Based on my experience after flashing almost EVERY available ROM and kernel on my st15i, I can suggest:
1. Use a memory manager like Smart RAM, Autokiller Memory Optimizer etc.
2. Use a cache cleaner app and set it to clear cache once or twice a day.
3. Use an app like SystemCleanup (free) and delete any system app you don't use or like.
4. You can send apps like your custom browser (I strongly suggest Nova) or GPS app to /system/app/ via SystemCleanup.
5. Flash custom kernel (I strongly suggest LuPuS or MESA Hybrid).
6. Find a light and fast custom ROM that suits your needs and flash it.
7. Enjoy. The power of Android is in your hands !
Thank you, everyone, for taking the time and answering me.

And Now I present to you gentlemen then infamous flatline which I have been searching for

One whole week of full charge to full discharge. Combined with the app mentioned & tweaks in ROM I could achieve a flatline(meaning 0% discharge) when the screen was off. But the problem is when the screen came back on battery dropped 1% every 15-20 Mins(with net turned on)

Sure!
Well i did a lot of things but those which concern battery use were:
-After some trying other roms i noticed that .431 had better battery use and a lot of mods so i choose this one to make my perfect rom.
-Removed all bloatware and even some non bloatware system apps that i dont use (taken from several threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614761
, I experimented freezing some apps that i thought werent necessary but i didn t want to delete, like clockserivice.apk or even semcalendar.apk
-Installed New xperia JB 4.2 Adreno libs for our little arm cpu.
-Ive tried Greenify but it doesnt seem to work for me.(but my mini pro doesnt need it , its super fast)
-Most recently ive frozen SystemUI service "LoadAverageService" Which seems to take some unecessary RAM Use. (i havent had any problem)
-I've searched for those apps that are light , fast and RAM friendly (Nova launcher, quickpic, whatsapp+ , google keyboard, etc)
(replaced sony camera app with JB camera sony camera had some thumbnail bug)
-I dont use Facebook app everytime i install it my phone slows down.
-Moved most of apps to sd via ext partition ( Link2sd) ive only left in internal those one that i really need to be responsive like the app launcher
Also fixed most problems with .431 rom like the LED and some other things i really cant remember ( ive had this rom for so much time , that level of satisfaction i have)
In things not related to battery:
-Installed Stock AOSP FUll Black SystemUI (I love the JB UI) (modded by me to have a clock) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840580.

About disabling google services , do some research (or crazy experiments  ) about what does it do every running service you would like to stop. I still dont have knowledge enough to recommend mingling with that services and i totally wouldnt recommend it.
