Evo3D OTA and Cricket - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my Sprint 3D to Cricket and received an HTC notification to OTA to ICS.
For some reason the HTC unlock method will not work me, I am stuck on GB stock, and although I know I can Hboot downgrade and Revolutionary or RUU to GB stock again, I am not feeling adventurous enough to "brick" my phone today or want to deal with a RUU.
I have a QPST profile saved in case the radio update affects my CDMA settings, and would have no problems just rewriting the info to phone, but I'd like to see if anyone has accepted an OTA from HTC in this way on a flashed HTC phone and what the outcome was. There is not much about this online!

If anyone is curious, I decided to accept the OTA and it worked, even though I am flashed to cricKet.
Haven't tried picture messaging to see if my APN's have been changed.
Everything else works!

[Q] EVO 3D keeps restarting

So i rooted my evo like on thursday or friday and even before the root ive been having restart issues, I rooted, erased everything as usual and added the HTC one port for the evo (ICS And all that) and it was also doing it, so i erased everything again and installed Meanrom.
im on hboot 1.3.
please help?
-------
EDIT: actually it's 1.4,
i swear it used to be 1.3....
What method did you use to root? Which meanrom version did you flash? Are you s-off? The more information you give the better chance of us being able to help.
my dads is doing the same thing and his is unrooted so it might be hardware. i'm sure sprint would trade it out for you as it won't be their flagship for much longer

[Q] Metro PCS EVO 3D ICS Help!

I know this is probably not the best place to ask, but I am a newb so I cannot post in the proper area.
I tried doing the OTA 2.89.651.2 update to my EVO 3D flashed to MetroPCS running 2.3.3 & HTC sense 3.0. Instead it just seemed to do a factory reset and nothing was updated. Is there something I am missing here? Is there a different method to updating if your phone is flashed to MetroPCS?
I assumed it would take the update and then I would have to get my phone reflashed by MetroPCS. From there I was going to follow BloddyKillers guide to get the MMS and 3G working again if necessary.
Can somebody point me in the right direction or explain the process to me so I can learn to perform the update so that my flashed MetroPCS Evo 3D shows 4.0.3 with HTC sense 3.6? Thanks.
Also, my phone was unrooted in the past and S was turned back on if any of that helps. I am willing to root and turn S off again if I have to.
Instead of taking OTA, flash the latest shipped RUU through a PC. It's available in one of the topic somewhere on the forum.

[Q] Cannot RUU ICS or JB.

Greetings,
Long story short, I was using MeanRom. My supervisor liked it, I flashed it for him. Then I went to CM10, convinced him how awesome JB was and made him switch. He didn't like it so he wen't back to JB. Then weird stuff began to happen.
There's a gym close to our workplace were a coworker gets 4g but my supervisor loses data entirely. When they get out they both get 3g.
Today, I tried to RUU his phone with JB but got stuck at sending, no progress at all, then error 155. We installed an ICS rooted stock rom and now he lost his data at the gym. He rebooted the phone, got 3g and lost it again.
Would it be possible that there is something wrong with the phone itself?
We wanted to take it to the store but we cannot RUU.
Thanks for your time,
Ed
Make sure the boot loader is relocked before running the RUU...also that the correct drivers are installed.

Ok, will do. I'll post back the results tomorrow.
Thanks.
Had the same issue
Had the same issue on Saturday. Had rooted, installed TWRP using the HTC bootloader unlock utility (S-ON), so wanted to run the RUU to get back to stock to stock to accept the JB OTA update. I Would start the RUU update but then the phone would error out and wouldn't fully install.
Ended up taking the phone to the Sprint store and they said that they had an issue with another the other day and there were certain known issues with the JB update and handed me a new phone. Was able to install the JB update, unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and then install root.
Oh yeah, phone was refurbished by Assuron too...
So I could be screwed if I wanted to ruu back the ICS then use the ota for JB? Been thinking about that for the new radios and firmware.

[Q] HTC Rezound Frustration

I have been working on this phone for hours, and hours. and it has been one of the most frustrating phones i have ever worked with.
Okay so i can flash and change roms fantastically!
Im currently switching from verizon to T-Mobile and i heard there was a GSM capability. So on i went with research, I have tried so many different rom's, rom's with GSM that come with it.Nothing worked. No signal no nothing. one rom realized there was a sim card in but it said the sim card was full, which is definitely not full. I never got a good instruction and right files for the S-off function so i never made it S-off nor do i know what kind of wire to use. the most disappointing is that it can't get a signal and i flashed the RUU 4.0..... something and it did nothing to the radio on my phone when in bootloader. If anyone has some idea of what i can do with easy to follow instructions. I that much of a noob. I had successfully rooted and unloacked (sim by myself) and unlocked and flashed roms for the HTC Rezound. It's just this one thing that has been bother the crap out of me... nothing worked.
Did you go under network settings and select preferred network then select GSM?

When you did the ruu, the second time it runs through the ruu (after first reboot) it will update the radios and system. Did you make sure when you did the ruu that you had to start it twice from hboot ? what version radios do you see listed in hboot ?

Then you don't have global firmware yet. You need to ruu to 605.12 and then take the 6mb ota that will take you to 605.13. Then take one more ota @207mb which will give you full global radios and firmware.
Globals hboot is also 2.28 so you know what to look for.

An alternative would be to install the global leak RUU first. From there you can follow the process for first installing the global update firmware (in the general discussion forum), then installing the global update itself (in the original android development forum).
Unfortunately, neither of the paths available to you is going to be totally painless...
Good luck,
John

[Q] Verizon after Page Plus - Data, but no Phone

Have a Rezound. Was flashed to Page Plus with it, but was sick of 1x speed, so I decided to go over to Verizon. Upgraded to a new phone (not the Rezound), but then decided I didn't like it enough to commit for 2 years. I would like my Rezound to work on Verizon, but so far, it isn't.
I did an RUU restore because one page said that would undo everything that flashing had done. I used the 4.03.605.2 710RD one.
Then I tried to activate. I got 4g to work, but I can't make any phone calls or send any texts. I took it to a local Verizon store where the guy spent about an hour on the phone with his tech support, replaced the SIM card, and tried a bunch of stuff before telling me the problem was the software version. He said the problem was the software number: 4.03.605.2 710RD. He said that isn't supported and that the guy on the phone had never heard of it. I'm currently downloading a different RUU, but I have serious doubts as to whether or not that will resolve anything.
Any ideas? I'd just like to get this phone Verizon compatible again.
Thanks. And I will be grateful and post if something is or isn't successful.
If you've run the latest RUU and it's updated HBOOT and radios...boot the phone into bootloader and perform a factory reset via HBOOT menu. It doesn't make sense but it seems to solve some radio issues.
THANK YOU!

I don't know what to say. It worked. Phone is working fully with Verizon again. That was so stupid-easy. I am truly shocked. THANK YOU! I really, really, really appreciate your help.
Really, thank you again.
