[Q] EVO 3D keeps restarting - HTC EVO 3D

So i rooted my evo like on thursday or friday and even before the root ive been having restart issues, I rooted, erased everything as usual and added the HTC one port for the evo (ICS And all that) and it was also doing it, so i erased everything again and installed Meanrom.
im on hboot 1.3.
please help?
-------
EDIT: actually it's 1.4,
i swear it used to be 1.3....

What method did you use to root? Which meanrom version did you flash? Are you s-off? The more information you give the better chance of us being able to help.

my dads is doing the same thing and his is unrooted so it might be hardware. i'm sure sprint would trade it out for you as it won't be their flagship for much longer

You might just end up with the retail price of a Thunderbolt on your next bill. Really tho they will be able to take one look and see you are running leaked software.
BTW the pink "Locked" at the top of hboot has to do with having HTC's official unlock capabilities built in. You can still root that build easily.

Well I don't know of any root method where the first thing you do is flash an hboot so..... Also the only way I know of for sure to root that build is with Revolutionary but I don't think there is a mac version. Plus it makes it somewhat hard to get back to stock when you use Revolutionary.

***LOCKED*** On Bootloader
Hello All,
First of all thanks for the awesome easy guide !!
This is the first time I am rooting my HTC Tbolt and have had an issue to start with.
Used the instructions in the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401959
After I download the 2.11.605.5 downgrade zip, I rename it, put in on the SD Card and go to HBOOT and it installs the downgrade just fine.
But at the end of this process, when I try to get the MR4 Radio onto the SD Card and install it, it simply does not happen. HBoot checks for the file, finds it, but nothing happens. I have renamed in properly and followed instructions to the dot.
I also noticed a ***LOCKED*** right on top of the screen and I think this could be an issue.
Can I go ahead and proceed with the Revolutionary Root Technique ? Would this be possible at this point ?
Is there anyway I can get Flash the MR4 Radio before I actually root ?
Also, would I be able to flash the MR4 Radio onto my device after Rooting ?
Any help is much appreciated !
Thanks in advance !
Cheers !

[Q] Sense Issues

I have been running MIUI for about a month as my daily driver. every few weeks i would try out a new MYN rom or a new Fresh Rom but it seems they always have the same issues. with any Sense Rom i run i get reboots every so often for no reason. also i get Forced closes on Google Music and Pandora. I am not a noob to flashing Rom's at all as i have been doing it sense the Hero days, but i am at a loss on this one. I am using CWM but have also used TWRP in there just to see if it made a difference and it hasn't. every time i flash i do a full wipe and then run the Warm Format All utility. I have tried out several of the ICS Rom's and haven't had any rebooting issues. I even updated all of the radios in an effort to resolve this but to no success. I love Miui but i would like a stable Sense Rom to go back to every now and again if i am going to be in an area with 4G and need to tether. or use my stereo Bluetooth headset.

Odd indeed. Perhaps a kernal issue? Are you on Hboot 1.4 or 1.5? Also, check out CleanROM as it is a VERY stable and fast rom. Little to no issues with it.
thanks for the advice. I got fed up today as the issue continued and even started happening with MIUI. I ran the latest RUU on the phone and took it to a sprint store and they ran a benchmark on it for about 30 min and nothing happened. They went ahead and ordered me another phone. Here is the strange bit. I ran the 2.08 RUU and i confirmed that it put HBoot 1.50 on the phone. when i got back to my office i ran the 1.13 RUU and it had HBoot 1.40 back on it. I then re-rooted with Revolutionary and i am finishing up with it now. I thought once you had 1.50 you were stuck with it no matter what.

wait, so you can just RUU to an "outdated" stock ROM if you're stuck on hboot 1.5? that seems too easy to do, it's hard to believe that's not common knowledge. I would test this in a heartbeat myself if I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got a phone with hboot 1.3 when I bought my phone less than a month ago
i ran the 2.08 ruu went to sprint they booted into the bootloader in front of me and showed me what he was going to do. i looked and confirmed that it said hboot 1.5 it was still s-off and he didn't notice that i dont think. i got back to my office booted the bootloader and once again confirmed it was 1.50. i started looking for ways to downgrade. while i waited i installed the 1.13 ruu in the hopes it might do something and it did. I found the ruu here on XDA and it put me back to 1.4 with the .97 radio and everything. i ran revolutionary and re rooted and then restored the last backup i had and i am still using it now.

[Q] Worth rooting EVO 3D right now?

So I just got the EVO 3D and am running HBOOT 1.5 and the most recent update I believe. Nothing I could do about that, it was preloaded on there.
I'm wondering if it is even worth it for me to root my phone at this point. I've seen a few people hboot 1.5 **** up their phones and i'd rather not do that. I'm no stranger to custom roms at all (I installed countless ones on my Hero) so it's not that I'm not familiar. Were the people who messed up their phones just doing stuff they shouldn't have/being stupid in general?

More than likely, yes. Most users who follow the guides don't seem to have issues.
The HTC unlock method changes the dynamics a bit from previous common and accepted methods. Many "new" users become between old and current guides.
As far as I've seen, there are only three limitations to hboot 1.5, compared with early "compromised" versions using the AlphaRevX revolutionary method.
1) Kernel is not able to be flashed from recovery mode. Work arounds include: flashing from normal Android mode, my app is great for that, Flash Image GUI. Loading the custom recovery from fastboot. Flashing the kernel from fastboot. Using the "dumlock" method with TWRP.
2) Unable to selectively flash radio images
3) Unable to selectively flash intial splash screens
If I'm missing anything, I'm sure somebody else can post up.
None of those seem like deal breakers to me. Thanks for the fast replies.
It's kind of a ***** just because you have to do a few extra steps but if you know what your doing you won't screw it up.
Yarr. I think I'm going to keep stock for probably just a bit longer. Maybe 1.5 S-Off wont be a problem then. Not bored of it yet, and coming from HTC Hero the thing is a dream.
Root is the way to go Get rid of bloat Also adb isn't hard I always fastboot boot recovery.img and wipe flash no issues
Should I start a new thread on this? I tried to root my HBoot1.5 with 2.17.651.5. When I have went through the HTC unlock process it stays locked. I tried to install the 2.08 version through the original RUU, but it keeps failing. Not sure where I should go from there.

I used the 2.17 from http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/ and mine unlocked. I ran the ruu while in hboot so it didnt check my current version. When i tried the same ruu from within android it failed every time.
What did it say when you flashed the unlock token? Did you get the message on the phone screen asking if you want to unlock?

I think some people just got ahead of themselves flashing wrong files. I got a bit worried too first go round after coming from a.Transform.
In my signature I've got a guide/flashing notes that are a bit more updated than some of the stickied threads that may help clear some things up.

Evo3D OTA and Cricket

I flashed my Sprint 3D to Cricket and received an HTC notification to OTA to ICS.
For some reason the HTC unlock method will not work me, I am stuck on GB stock, and although I know I can Hboot downgrade and Revolutionary or RUU to GB stock again, I am not feeling adventurous enough to "brick" my phone today or want to deal with a RUU.
I have a QPST profile saved in case the radio update affects my CDMA settings, and would have no problems just rewriting the info to phone, but I'd like to see if anyone has accepted an OTA from HTC in this way on a flashed HTC phone and what the outcome was. There is not much about this online!

Haven't tried picture messaging to see if my APN's have been changed.

[Q] Can't Get S-OFF with Wire Trick!

Hi everyone,
I'm really hoping someone can help me with getting my E3D S-off with the wire trick. Even though I've been a member on this site for a couple years, I never really did much on here because I haven't done much with my phone until now. So, I'm hoping that being a newbie, someone can help me...
Long story short, I've been waiting patiently until the official ICS update from Sprint to be able to root my phone and finally install a custom ROM without all the Sprint bloatware and finally have a clean, stock ICS ROM on my phone. For the past two days I've been trying to do the wire trick by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813818
It's just that my phone will NOT let me do it! I've successfully unlocked the bootloader on hboot 1.58 and rooted the phone with superuser. When I go to do the wire trick, after running JuopunutBear's Wire Trick, all I get is to the point where it says "Seconday Backup FAILED at Beginning!!" and just exits the program.
I've literally done everything. I read that it's caused by a custom ROM or having HTC Sync installed on my PC. The ROM I have is the stock Sprint ICS 4.0 ROM that was installed by the RUU. I've wiped my SD card and even used two other cards, and it STILL won't work. I have no idea what to do anymore. After two days of having a blank phone, I've just about given up. I know there's gotta be a way to do it, but I just can't figure it out. I can't find anything regarding this problem from anyone else on this site or anywhere on Google. People say they had the problem and it fixed itself, but I can't get past it. Can someone please help? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should try flashing a stock GINGERBREAD ROM. The thing with JuopunutBear is that you need crucial files from GB. Unless they updated it, I may be wrong.
Instead of flashing an RUU, look for a full stock ROM for your phone.
Then it should work perfectly.
I did it on my GSM EVO 3D, but there was a better guide on here for it, however, it's gone now.
I wish you luck, comment back if it doesn't work.
I actually restored the original RUU which didn't work, and then flashed the PG86IMG.zip file for the ICS ROM and that didn't work either. I've gone through all the steps of unlocking and rooting multiple times, and it still gives me that backup message. I have no idea what else to do.
Also, the phone is new - Sprint replaced it under warranty for me because the bezel of my old one was coming loose which they said is a common problem, so they swapped it out with a fresh one for me. The only thing I can think of is maybe that daemon message I get when I start the fastboot? It says something like "Daemon not started. Starting on port 5037." Does the port have anything to do with it?
I'm gonna try flashing a stock Gingerbread ROM now. I'm downloading the 2.17.651.5 release - I think that's the official Gingerbread update from Sprint. I'll post back soon - thanks for your help.

Make sure you watch the screen on the phone until the prompts for superuser have appeared and been approved. Also, have you read through the JuopunutBear thread in the stickies of the development forum? There's a lot of information in there and a link to a good video by zedomax, and if that isn't enough to get you through it you can get some live help by logging into the IRC channel from the support page on the unlimited.io website.

I appreciate the help so far. I tried returning to a stock Gingerbread ROM to do the S-off trick since they thought maybe it had something to do with files from Gingerbread that weren't in the ICS ROM, but the phone won't let me do it. Running the official RUU fails and says it can't update the software, and trying to flash the PG86IMG.zip from the bootloader just ignores it - I boot the phone, it spends five minutes loading and checking, then just goes back to the menu. I read you can't flash an older firmware update over a newer one unless you have S-off, but since that's what I'm trying to get at, that obviously won't work.
So, I gave up and flashed the official RUU for ICS and it flashed fine and put me back at the stock Sprint software. Unlocked bootloader, rooted and tried the S-off again, and got the same problem. I'm giving up on it for the night but I'll research the stickies tomorrow at work and see what I can find and if anyone else might have had this problem. I don't feel like accepting the fact that there's no way to get S-off on this phone. Seems everyone else had no problems.
Thanks again for all your help so far!

JuopunutBear will work fine with the Sprint ICS 2.89 build installed, but make sure you use the version designed for that build.
Good luck!

Okay cool, just let me know. Thanks.
So I figured I would update on this but I'm sure no one really cares.
I FINALLY got S-off using the wire trick by installing a quick custom ROM and trying the process again. For some reason the guide I used said to use the stock untouched ROM but it didn't work for me, even though everyone else seems to have had luck.
So, after flashing a ROM quick through ext4 worked for me, and I flashed CoolROM with Sense 4.1. Looks good, but there's no 4G. I get full 4G coverage where I live, so I'm gonna kind of miss that. I was originally looking for a clean stock ICS ROM without Sense, but when I said this with Sense 4.1 I figured I'd give it a shot. Does anyone know of a stable ROM with working 4G and everything else? The whole reason I decided to root and get S-off was to finally remove all the Sprint bloatware, so I want a clean ROM. If anyone knows of a good ROM, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a stable ROM with working 4G and everything else? The whole reason I decided to root and get S-off was to finally remove all the Sprint bloatware, so I want a clean ROM. If anyone knows of a good ROM, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!
