Not until HWcomposer and memory leak issue are fixed...yes, I think it'll take a lot of time.

These issues can really make cyanogenmod delay the release of the nightly version.

Sorry, you're wrong. It's still funny.
It's clearly said on most threads, they are beta builds.

I used to think that the Nightly builds were done by a person or only because the beta builds were released at night, Might be a truth to it o.o

I think because of the time builds take you're still right to think that. Many do the builds during their "night" thus the word nightly.

So Nightly usually better than others right?

This is how I see it: :silly:
A "nightly" becomes a "stable" version in the long run
Stable = better than others
Nightly = patch version of the previous nightly release (in most cases).
Most nightlly versions are tested daily and most users report bugs from the nightly version right away. If time permits then the developer patches the previous nightly, compiles it and release a new nightly. HaHa!

Yes and no.
Mostly post rc are stable but they might have new stuff added and removed, thus may have issues.
Oh so these issues will be solved isn't it.. I even sometimes get a signal drop.. very rare.. there hasn't been an update to the rc1 since 26-6-2012.. hope something comes up soon.. cyanogen are really awesome..

CM9 Nightly is pretty stable tbh, never experienced any signal drop and it only randomly rebooted once, might have been my fault too.
I think you should give it a try.

No we have regular updates after RC 1 last time I check it was at 5-7-12
But it shows for the galaxy s2 international version cyanogenmod 9 rc1 last update date is 26-6-2012.

You have to look under nightly, not RC.
Am using a rc1 nightly is too buggy
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
placebo guy... RC = renamed nightly. As codeworkx said, there's NO difference between a RC and a stable nightly. You can't take out the RC tag, swap to NIGHTLY and say that the nightly is a unstable one. Months ago, the first stable nightlies were coming out.
I am on the hunt for an AOSP JB build that has no memory leaks and is somewhat stable enough.
I kinda use the stock TW camera a lot, so there's got to be some sort of valid replacement for it, whether it's already included or available as an apk.
I think that the memory leak on JB has not been fixed yet in any rom.
Personally, I'll stay with CM9 final for a couple of weeks, waiting for the latest big bugs to be fixed before jumping to CM10.
All JB roms have memory leak. They are labeling them with the term "stable" quit loosely

Gotcha. The term stable doesn't solely mean it's the opposite of unstable. I'd like to believe a stable ROM has everything working and all (major) kinks sorted out.
There are a few "fixes" for the memory leak that make it pretty bearable. I would recommend looking into them if you can, JB is quite nice.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I wish I could shout it from the rooftops. A ROM with a memory leak, buggy camera and more is not stable. Hey I got a ROM booting! [STABLE] F*ck yeah! I think CM is the only one that got it right by not calling it stable, and branding it a preview, since it's nowhere near the finished product.
Then noobs are flamed when they ask why something is broken. Don't brand it as stable, don't confuse people. Say it's an alpha release, and it will have bugs, then have a reason to call them out on their stupidity.

JB is more than quite nice. I would now since I rolled JB on my Gnex before switching to the S3.

Do they usually release source? If they do, it should be available sometime near the beginning of September.
Call me stupid, but where do I find any info about the details of the nightlies to the CM9 on: http://get.cm/?device=p4wifi
I'm pretty happy with the one from 2 weeks back, but would gladly update if they're significant, e.g. working front cam

There are a bunch if changelogs available on the net but to save you the hassle. Front cam doesn't work

There is no CM9 out which is using the newest 3.1 Kernel. But try BeeGees CM9 Build, ist uses the new kernel where are the frontcam is working. Click me
I was pretty surprised to see a new nightly come out last night and still without a working camera yet the CM10 builds out there it does work.. Shame that the CM development for the tab is so spotty (at best).

Pershoot is the device maintainer for out tabs for cm. Until he he is happy with sorting out a) - the bugs on kernel 3.1 then it'll be "Sent out" to cm who will then start using it to build frsh nightlies & probably cm10 ones aswell

Is there ever going to be an M snapshot, RC, or Stable version of CM10.1 for the Galaxy Tab 10.1?
I'd like to use something better than a nightly.

There might be but considering that we haven't got a stable cm rom yet. Even after cm9 and cm10 support I would say it will be extremely unlikely but saying that this is probably the last version of android of the tab so because of that ad because we have much more time we could end up with a stable rom.

CM 10.1 is actually stable for P4. Nothing force closes on me and there are no SODs. As a matter of fact it feels so much smoother than official ICS. I have the ICS, CM10 and CM 10.1 and in the past I was alternating between all three but for over 3 months I have not restored the ICS at all. The CM10 I have restored a couple of times mostly to apply new updates after which I run back to 10.1. It is snappy and with the deep sleep fix, it is just so much nicer.
Special thanks to the CM team who have kept our device alive and kicking. No immediate plan to replace it. I call future-proof. Zillions of thanks to Pershoot, one great guy I admire for his support and doggedness!
Give it a try, I am sure you will find its worth it.
Cheers!

Yeah I got CM 10.1 I get many force closes and other things but compared to the official ics release it is a hundred times smoother. The first thing I did as soon as I got y tab 10.1 was to root it and remove the touchwiz crap and have some pure CM goodness. Probably will update to the latest nightly cause I am running a nightly which is about 3 to 4 weeks old.
