Is there anyway to get a tv out from the Folio w/o the docking station which is not sold in my country.

The HDMI Out is really cool. I can play Flash with Skyfire browser or the Youtube app on my 42" LCD tv. Wait till I try Angry Birds. Too bad Folio can't output Full HD.
If you start an 1080p movie it is still 1024*600? Or switches the resolution?
No HD resolution at the moment but I read someone is trying to hack the tegra driver to enable higher resolutions

HDMI on ICS
Hi I'm very pleased with finally running ICS on my folio and for the first time mkv files are playing as they should thanks to MX Video Player and this great rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470823
But I cannot get the Hdmi to work and I can't find any settings for it, do you have to download something to make it work or how do I enable hdmi output?
Thanks

Someone have tested the HDMI out with ICS 4.0.3 ROM?

Yes but I don't know how
This is a question, that is very important for me.
...
You see, this SGSII phone thing'y is HOT as HELL. It is everything I want in a phone... BUT STOP...
...
NO HDMI out?
...
The original SGS has one and I really don't understand why they took that away from the SGSII.
...
I heard that there is a way to get HDMI mirroring with a software and a micro-USB to HDMI cable! Is that purely a software question or must there be a hardware thing to?
...
Please... respond to this, this is very important.
An MHL hardware connection is needed (look up MHL in wikipedia), fortunately in the official Samsung specs from the press release it says that it has MHL. A video from MWC from someone representing the MHL consortium also says the SGS2 will be the first device supporting MHL.
I'll feel better once I see someone demo it, but Samsung have officially announced MHL capability for the SGS2.

Yes... I want to see a demo to. It would be nice to have this mirroring capability.
Something does confuse me about MHL, if you have a TV which isn't MHL compatible and you don't want or don't have the adapter, can you use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable and just not have it charge at the same time?
doh...

My friend you can use with any HDTV but you dont have charge of your battery device except if you buy an adapter MHL to charge and transmit signal on the same time. But how last your battery can provide of energy?
In my Xperience In my IPad I see 3 Movies via Wireless Apple TV and my battery show 30 % remain. In the case of SGSII at least You have enough power to see a movie with Screen turned Off (SGSII)
!?
Are there any news about a mirroring capability on the SGS II?
...
I've been searching the net for some confirmation, that there is going to be a possibility playing games on the SGS II connected to a flat screen TV, but couldn't find anything to confirm that!
...
Are there any news???
surely if this was possible, it would have been all over the exhibitions and videos of it would exist?

Or the SW used for demo phones didn't have the mirroring properly implemented yet and the option was not included in menus.
EDIT:
I have not seen any demos where SGS2 is connected to a TV via MHL/HDMI.
Is there any previews or videos where they use that ?
No videos yet, the question of whether mirroring is on offer remans in the air.
!
Funny... cuz... The first SGS had mirroring, if this one has it not, than it is a kind a regress!
...
Sorry 4 my English.
Yep, I'd be very disappointed if this can't do mirroring, I love using it with my SGSI and would find it hard to part with (use my SGSI on the tele with BT keyboard and mouse, excellent experience, only problem is only SD-out).
As the other thread is set as [solved], I made a new one, as it is not solved for me...
To check what happens I got me the left/right test track from binkster.net
And it definitely puts all audio on the left channel, the left channel data a lot quieter than the right channel data, but everything together onto the left front channel.
I guess the receivers show 5.1 because the hdmi data is indeed a 5.1 channel format, just without any sound on most of its channels. And I believe the reason it works on some TVs, is that they just detect a mono signal and put it on all speakers, or they only have one speaker in the first place.
As the audio and hdmi HW is inside the Tegra 3 SoC and the same test file plays fine on the same hdmi setup with my Tegra 2 LG P990 phone with microHDMI out, I doubt this is a hardware problem, but that Asus somehow uses the mixed up mono signal from its own single speaker as output over hdmi as well...
But maybe I am wrong, is there anyone who actually gets this left/right test to play "left" on the left speaker and "right" on the right speaker ?
I marked my thread as "solved" because I found (notes in the thread) that the prime and cable "work". But they don't "work correctly" for all connected displays. Some didn't work at all, some didn't have correct audio (as you have). Some worked perfectly. Maybe "solved" is not correct. "Understood" would be better.
My TV doesn't have correct audio either, but at least I know where the problem is. And I could buy a new TV if I had the $$.
I have opened a case with ASUS and hope to get some more info from them later this week after the holidays are well behind us.
I suggest you open a case with ASUS as well to motivate them.
Good luck.
Is there a way to look into the audio configuration? Is it alsa? Maybe they mix channels to mono there?
I poked around with various market apps and couldnt find any info.
I haven't had time to look thru the kernel code. Hopefully ASUS will post an update.
NOTE: the audio is fine with some devices. So it doesn't appear (as I first wondered) that its a mixer problem.

I opened a case already, but I think it will not really help Asus much, actually more the opposite and confuses them rather, as I mixed up right with left in my report to them
Can you download the left/right test file from binkster.net by any chance and test it on those TVs where you thought it worked and listen closely if the two words actually come from the correct speakers or just from the middle of the TV ?
In the audio track, the word "left" is spoken only on the left speaker and the word "right" on the right speaker
Thanks !

I haven't found any audio options except volume. If there are any, I would be thankful if someone can point me to the right menu to access them.
Today's update fixed my audio problems. I hadn't previously checked with my Samsung c8000 3d led TV, but I was having left channel and center only audio from my Onkyo tx-nr 809 avr. Now I'm hearing audio from all channels both from my receiver and TV.

Yes, I just wanted to make sure the TVs did not "intelligently" spread out the mono signal onto both speakers, which could be verified by the test file.

peare,
Does the Onkyo controller app from the market work on the prime?
I am on 8.3.3.33 now and STILL got the mono sound problem.
I connect my TF Prime with my Onkyo TX-NR509 receiver, which is quite state of the art. Besides, I am using a very professional HDMI cable with 1.4 standard.
Sound is only playing on the left and the center channel.
Anybody heard something from ASUS regarding this issue?

Not for me. Audio was working perfectly until I installed ICS now I don't get ANY sound over HDMI.
Has the output type changed or something? Perhaps my amp's settings need to be changed after the ICS update. There isn't a problem with the cable as the same file played ok from my computer using the same HDMI cable and input. A small chance the micro adapter is broken I suppose, but can't really test that as have no other input sources.
Okay so I've seen plenty of videos on YouTube of the SGS2 playing N64 flawlessly on their bigscreen TVs with PhoneJoy and an MHL adapter, so I figured our EVO 3Ds should be able to handle it too... but so far that hasn't been the case for me.
Has anyone come up with a working configuration to get emulation to work without like 10frameskips?! I've tried multiple ROMs, kernels, overclocking, all sorts of different emulators... I can't even get simple SNES games to work well enough to be standable let alone N64. Tried all of yongzhs emulators but those are too outdated and don't work smoothly. Best experience I've had was with SuperGNES because its not a port it is android native, still have to give it about 4frameskips though which is much too choppy. Looking to get about 1-2 max. Any thoughts and ideas are most appreciated!
If u don't mind could u tell me what kind of games u want to emulate like n64 or perhaps gameboy games
But Well u can try gameboid for that games. it works pretty fine for me O(∩_∩)O

I dont know if it a Sense related problem or something, but any 1080p video lthat I play using MHL on a big screen is to much choppy and fps are too low....while the same videos works fine without MHL.
I really hope all this is resolved when ICS and sense 3.6 or 4.0 OTAs are released...

thats because most mhl adapters can only push 24hz making it look choppy. cannot say if the oem htc or samsung adapters are any better however i have heard that both image, sound and framerate are better.

I use samsungs MHL adapter for the 3D , it cannot play 1080p videos at optimal framerate.
This is exactly why they should have just stuck with a dedicated HDMI port... Not to mention USB host is pointless with a TV because the port is taken up for the video-out.

my kernel is pusing 1080p @ 120hz (so 3d works on the your hdmi big screen) - verified working by both gsm and cdma users.
*per my personal experience and that of users posted their feedback on my threads
issue: it only works for some, not others
not sure if its a cable issue or a phone/hardware limitation that only applies to some phones
i personally am using a samsung cable - its the only cable that works w/ my phone @ 120hz
I will try your Anthrax kernel to see if it makes a difference for me. I was on test06 last week but I decided I couldn't deal with my camera preview and landscape gallery not working. Do you have a newer kernel up now that i can go grab?
test is the latest - and hdmi/mhl on most 2.17 based roms is borked ... due to the gpu issues im working on (same issue that affects landscape video and camera preview - all related)
Hello all,
I'm trying to use a Lapdock as an HDMI screen (there are a few threads about this, for example ), and the video part works fantastically. However, I can't seem to get an audio to play from the HDMI input on the Lapdock. I've tried a number of HDMI sources that supply audio with the video, and while the audio works on other HDMI monitors, the Lapdock doesn't produce any sound.
Does anyone know if I need to do something special to the Lapdock or the connector in order to get audio over HDMI?
Thanks,
Allan
I could be wrong, but I don't think the lapdock uses audio over HDMI. I think it uses audio over the microUSB. I base this on how the other two docks I have work (both the car dock and MM dock).
Wrong, the lapdock does use hdmi audio. same with the dock.

Doesn't the car dock use audio over usb?
Everything I could find thus far suggests that the audio is over HDMI (for example, setting up the audio from a Raspberry Pi to go over HDMI as described - raspberry org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=6747&p=86484 - about halfway down the page - "Mon May 28, 2012 4:33 pm". For for not providing a direct link - not enough karma on the forum to allow that yet!).
So it seems like it should be as simple as plugging in the HDMI, but that's no working for me. I might try plugging in a USB device as well and seeing that triggers something that will bring the HDMI audio up, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!
Allan
The car dock is over USB but its not done digitally. Its just a break out cable. I've had my Xbox/ps3 working with the lapdock.

It works ok on my lapdock with both stock and custom ROM's (I was surprised to find the lapdock has two small speakers built in).
Unfortunately I can't think of any way you could test the speakers on the lapdock to see if they are working.
So if the Lapdock uses HDMI for audio, then what kind of circuit is in there decoding the audio for those speakers? Not the typically higher cost decoders found in TVs or electronics shops, there's not eeven nough room inside the lapdock for those.
So what is working that magic? Anyone?
Dock's audio
Dock's audio didn't work for me when I use custom ROM CM10.1, the audio out from the phone instead the output of dock.
Anyone know if have some workaround of this?

Its been discussed thoughrouly on the kernel dev threads and is stated in the what works/what doesn't work list. hdmi is not something required to make the phone stable, therefore its disabled and on the back burner for now. plus there are driver issues.

Ok, I will try this ROM
lapdock does use the hdmi for audio. I have rpi 2 b. and two micro sd cards, one with kodi, and the other with debian/Jessie. im a noob at this, so I don't know all the different files in them. but when I use the one with kodi, I have sound through the lapdock. when I use the one with debian/Jessie no sound. however if I connect the pi (with debian/Jessie) to my vizio smart tv through hdmi I do have sound. I don't know if this helps.... and if some one could explain this that would help both of us.
