Hi all.
If I replace the SD card in my phone with a class4 will it improve overall speed?
Anyone tried it?
Thanks

I recently upgraded my SD card from a 2 to a 10 and I don't notice significant speed increase.
Which of the 2 SD cards are you referring to? I replaced the "Data" SD card with a 32GB class 10 card, and I can definitely tell a difference writing to it. Overall, not much difference in speed reading from it.
Thank you very much for replies

[Q] Sd card speed
I did a benchmark with AnTuTu, it says:
8,5MB/s write and 18MB/s read speed.
Benchmark with SD tools says:
13,1write and also 18MB/s read
Isn't this quite low?
I bought a new Adata 16gb class 10 card, it isn't really faster then my previous sandisk 8gb class 2?
Did try sd boost from market, but didn't help much.
My gf has a sgs2, which gets about 12,5MB/s write, but 30+MB/s read speed!
Any ideas?

[Q] I have a adata 16gb class 10 microSd.
Antutu benchmark says 8,5MB/s write and 18MB/s read speed.
Why so low??

Benchmarks are never accurate, many a different thing can affect them. Try SD Card Speed Booster in the market. Or any of the other apps that come up when you search for sd speed.
So, I've been reading everywhere here about sizes and different classes. What I'm most interested in is, how fast can the Galaxy S3 write to the sd card, better put the max write speed to the micro sd card? I want the fastest card available, but only if the phone will use it at max speed. Hope someone can give me an answer so I can order one tonight.
thanks for your help

so I guess there is no point in ordering something that is faster than a class 10, aww shucks :'(
I believe class 10 is the current fastest. I bought it since it was not too expensive at the time..

what does it benchmark outside the galaxy s3? Is it the same or higher?
SanDisk 64 GB Class 10
Can't help you there, sorry. I suppose it would not be vastly different though.
Sammy claim 24 read and 13 write. But file system overhead etc is perhaps not being accounted for. As it is though, records video fine and otherwise gives me no problems..

Writing speed 15.08 MB/s
Reading speed 33.37 MB/s
what did you get off your galaxy s3 ablacklist?
This time I got :
Writing speed 18.46 MB/s
Reading speed 26.89 MB/s
I used SD card tester app to check my speed.

thats internal storage, not external.
change path and then test
hey ablacklist, I meant to say before what are the speeds on that card when plugged directly to your computer? How much was it and where?

I haven't test it on my PC yet, tonight I will give it a go and post it.
and Here is the real result with the right path for sandisk 16GB class 10 UHS-1

I tested on Sony vaio laptop that come with Ricoh PCIe memory slot, I got:
Write speed : 11.40 MB/s
Read speed : 22.77 MB/s
and based on previous result on s3 (W: 10.77 MB/s R: 17.92 MB/s) , the difference are:
Write speed difference : 0.63 MB/s
Read speed difference : 4.85 MB/s

Run that same "sd card tester" app on the internal memory. That should be representative of how fast it "can" be +/-
hope that helps,
-CC
EDIT: Example in post #10 of the test done on the internal memory, which in theory should be close to max capabilities; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29525785&postcount=10
EDIT2: I've attached my internal memory test (UBLF2 stock + root) and my Sandisk 64GB Class 10 / UHS 1 sd card tested in the SGS3 (stock format as it came out of the package)
Hi.
Is there a speed increase by installing a higher class SD card as internal SD Card?
Which class is the stock SD Card?
