I think you can calibrate touch screen, google for it,I'm on my phone

i searched in google.but it is available only for xperia mini only.
No sorry you can't calibrate sk17i touchscreen.
Maybe flash back stock rom like gingerbread and look if it works. For example you can see it here how to root Android 4 and there's how to flash it.
If it shouldn't work on stock rom, just unroot and maybe give phone to service.
Is your bootloader unlocked? Cause if it is unlocked by sony official don't give it to support, otherwise you must pay for their work, because you lost warranty!
i checked in some blog that this issue id due to proximity sensor.can any one help on this

The proximity sensor is not the problem that caused this problem...it's just the wrong or error touch calibration...maybe you can ask your nearest Sony service shop to recalibrate your phone touch screen, but they would demand you some money la...

Hi all,
I've a "little" problem with my touch screen, it doesn't work ( doesn't react but displays well) , but i said little because just one part isn't working (approximately from 200 px to 430 on the Y axis).
The problem seems to be hardware caused, i've tried to install an other ROM ( the problem appeared while using CM7 and i tried with CM9 ROM without success).
Someone else already experienced this issue ? Could this be caused because of a ROM or software (i havent overclocked my device, it rarely fell to the ground and the screen isn't broken....), Could he be repaired?
Thank in advance ans i'm sorry for my bad English ,
Batlac.

This is a well known issue and is most likely caused by the digitizer. You'll most likely need to replace it, unfortunately. They go for at least $45 on eBay.
The only alternative is the PDS fix, which didn't work for me. I can't give you links as I don't have enough posts, but I've found what I needed on this site (and youtube for the digitizer replacement video) simply using search.
Thanks , The PDS fix isn't working for me too, I'll try to repair manually my phone :-\

i had the same issue. i even tryed flash sbf and the pds fix....nothin
i had to do a warranty replacement, the sbf flash atleast get rid of the unlocked symbol at the front if your catching my drift
The SBf flash isn't dangerous? I want to use the warranty too because the replacement is expensive...
What SBf did you flash?
Thanks!

it seem to be a PDS partition problem... if you flash it with any sbf the problem will still be there... try to make a restore of a previous nandroid when u didn't had that problem...
(sorry about my english)
Arf I haven't got any Nandroid backup and the links from the "Atrix Firmwares Superthread" are deads...
Someone knows where I can find some stock SBF files ?

This is not a Software problem, try this and tell back what you got
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719653
If it doesn't work then you will have to buy a new digitizer.
It doesn't work :-\
I'll try to hide the unlocked mention but I don't know if it's possible

you mean overheating?
well i have the same phone and this problem was giving me headache when i used the stock ICS too, after installing cyanogenmod though the problem went away, or at least that's what i think , but that would mean voiding your warranty so not a good solution for everyone.
although when i searched about it some people say that taking the phone to a SONY help center solved the problem but that wasn't an option for me
my personal tips for you though is that when you put your phone down make sure to put it face down and use wifi instead of 3g whenever you can and maybe you'd like to limit your phone to using 2g as i found out that helps.
i hope that wasn't confusing or anything
good luck.
ICS bugs sucks
ICS bugs sucks, I preffer gb original rom

(It worked for me every time)
I bought this phone this phone 4 days ago
I rooted it with the custom kernel via flash tool and installed ka sspeed rom v2
When i used multitouch tester to figure out the touch points i noticed a bug
-When i touch 4 fingers normally one after another no problem
BUT
-When i touch with two fingers it showed up as 1 and 2 and with keeping one finger i took up my second finger and again placed my second finger.....this time it showed up as 1 and 3 and not 1 and 2 and when i repeated it.....it showed as 1 and 4 and the next time it does not recognize my second finger.....it resets after i take up my first finger and i have the same issue.....
I noticed this issue gave me trouble on playing the game Third-blade......
Please someone see to this and make a fix for this.....
Thank you....
I have the same problem on my Xperia Sola, did You solved it?
Same problem on my U but it does not bother me.
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app
No it is not solved yet i think.....waiting for the official ics update to solve it....hope they will or we can wait for the custom devs to solve this problem in their rom or kernel.....it might be a software problem only and not the hardware.....
I'm sure it was a software error. The problem with counting touches. In my opinion the function responsible for this is badly written.
It is solved in ICS
Update the topic title if this is sorted.

Do one thing :
Go to dialpad
Type
*#*#7378423#*#*
Go to service tests,--
Touch screen
Check your touch is responding well or not,if not, service center guys can only help (as its hardware related)
Or else, just flash your Rom again!

Since yesterday I am facing this problem.
Last evening the touchscreen of my phone just stopped responding. It happened so: all of the sudden the touch wouldn't respond. Pressing the power button to switch of the screen for sleep mode was not happening. The last thing I had done was pull down the notification bar so that so it was stuck there. I pressed and held the power button to restart and it worked fine. After a few hours again it happened. Restarted again. Worked. But now everytime its happening. It stops responding. I restart then it works for 2-3 minutes and stops responding and again Ihave to restart and again it stops after a couple of minutes.
I tried going into recovery mode and download mode and it enter and it charges properly also.
Also, last night I switched the phone off and I left it on charge annotd today morning when I switched it on the problem is still there.
please help me out
My galaxy s3 is rooted and its running on stock rom 4.1.2 and siryah kernel.
Is it a hardware problem or software? What can be done?
Another thing just happened now. It stopped responding while I was watching a video on youtube. The screen didnt respond but the video was working and after a while the video stopped but the audio was still playing!

I heard somewhere syiah doesnt support 4.2 try another kernel. Did u update kernel/rom recently?
Have you tried removing the phone's battery and waiting for a half hour or so?

Its not 4.2 It's 4.1.2 Using the official one. And I have been using the siyah kernel for over a month now. Never seemed to cause a problem and never updated anything.
And no I didnt take out the battery. I just kept it switched off. Anyway I will do that too now.
R: HELP! S3 touchscreen not responding.
Okay....so you did nothing? Perhaps you're stressing the cpu/gpu too much and kernel does not totally support 4.2.x yet....try flashing perseus kernel also, it cant hurt...

Should I flash stock firmwire then try rooting it again and then flash the kernel?
The thing is I used to use my phone while on charge. A friend says the circuits must have gone haywire but this doesn't seems like a hardware problem.

If u use your phone while on charge that only harms the battery (it will make it last less...but it is inevitable anyways who dooesnt use phone whike on charge)...
What would be the very best option would be to factory reset through recovery (u have clockworkmod right?) (U can save apps with titanium backup) and flash a new rom and THEN a new kernel.
If you flash foxhound it comes with kernel already backed.
BUT before doing this (nobody likes to start off fresh) just try flashing another kernel first(or try and get an updated version of siyah kernel, maybe you got the s2 variant, which has a higher build version than the s3, making it look obsolete).
