Here in Sweden there is rumour that SGS2 I9100 will not have NFC at launch.
NFC will come later and the SGS2 without NFC cant upgrade to NFC.
For me it sounds like a totally stupid idea.
What do you think ?
Have you read anything about it in any other country ?

Well I don't know about Sweden but in Ireland, support for NFC is pretty scarce (read inexistent) so no harm really...
Same here...Just a few project and i think i have SGS3 before NFC is big here..
But i still hope NFC is in SGS2
I want the best heh

Here in Finland we hardly have color TV's, so the lack of NFC is not a problem.
Doesn't bother me much if they have NFC. In India there is no support what so ever and I think it will be years until it does.
Although I would still appreciate the technology within the phone. I travel a lot, and it would make it easier to conduct fast transactions.
Clove have confirmed (in the comments) that the UK version will have NFC:
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/04/14/...-confirmed-exynos-chip-quad-band-3g/#comments
No NFC would be a big deal for me -- sure, it's not popular yet, but getting phones with NFC on board will be key to making it popular in the future. Google are also pushing NFC heavily:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/14/google-expands-nfc-check-ins-clutters-more-restaurant-windows/
It doesn't really matter if you really need NFC you can buy one of these SD-cards http://www.nearfieldcommunicationsworld.com/2009/01/12/3485/tyfone-puts-nfc-into-microsd-cards/ they have built-in NFC
i find NFC totally useless at this point
i've had the Nexus S for aprox 6 mth already, and i still have not found a SINGLE place that will offer NFC anything,
i'll be happy to see an add via NFC, but not even so.
i'll say we'll need at least 2 more years before the public sector, and market includes more NFC stuff.
i'll be interested to use my phone to pay for items via NFC
but NONE store supports that yet.
again... NFC is too green, there is no market at all for it yet.
in 2 years time we'll probably be at SGS 3 or SGS 4 already
Agree, especially in locations that NFC requires data transfers, most stores wont be able to offer it in India. I could see some retailers doing it but it cannot be expected that EVERYONE will go crazy over NFC and buy a $700 device to utilize it.
In sweden Samsung has confirmed on facebook that SGS2 launch without NFC.
And that they will launch one version with NFC later.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I cant wait.
Lucky me that i live in north of sweden.
It will take years before NFC is here

It might be that for certain carriers branded S2 will be delivered w/o NFC since the carriers THEMSELVES integrate NFC on their SIM-Card.
So speaking about NFC or not NFC: this is a tiny chip with a value of 1-2 .- € !

What? NFC on the SIM-Card?
Never!
Isn't NFC a hardware-feature in the phone

NFC can be implemented via SIM card if the carrier wants to and also via SD card. Where the chip is located within the device is mostly meaningless.

The phone can read the sim/sd-card, thus the NFC chip on the card. As long as the phone is prepared (in terms of hardware) to read NFC chips from sim/sd-cards, I don't see any problems.
I'm not an expert but I think that technically it should be possible to put NFC chips in cards like sd or simcards.

I don't think so .. you would need a new interface for the cardreader .. maybe something like mhl for the usb-port (standart-micro-usb isnt able to put out video as hdmi does) and i don't think this will be integrated ..
NFC will be integrated into the phone .. or not
but for sure not in the sd/sim card
Edit: Ok maybe it could work, according to some pages i found on google .. but still appears weird to me
I just picked up this phone that was released today by AT&T.
Only reason to spend the money was to get the NFC feature.
I see that the battery has NFC on it, but
1. How do I enable the phone to use it?
2. How do I set it up?
TIA

ask the ATT galaxy section
The phone is NFC ready but it's not being implemented at this time. From what I read somewhere At&t is still waiting to finalize some agreements. In my opinion they might push an update to the phone to "activate" the NFC.

Does NFC exist on UK's SGS2s as of now? I mean if I go to any shop and buy SGS2, will I be guaranteed to have a NFC in it?
no, you will not be guaranteed to have NFC. Some handsets have it some do not it, you need check out the phone before you by it.

Don't worry too much about it.

You are going to get NFC anyway.

I need NFC because I'm going to tweak it to make it a smart card for transport systems in future if possible. So, I've got no choice but to have NFC enabled phone.
Wow. Australia still uses paper tickets...
I've heard there are different variations of the SGS2 that have NFC but you'd have to do specific research on the device you were purchasing.
Also NFC is probably going to be available on on phones with an sd card slot based on upcoming technology...

Anyone know where the Galaxy s9+ SMG965 F/ds comes from? I bought it off eBay from a verified seller because they had a pretty good deal and everything on it seems to be functioning but there's no OEM unlock button at all and it just seems fake the charger that came with it was super bulky and had 3 prongs and the bottom one was plastic for some reason

Hmm
start with dialing *#1234#. this should tell you model and what CSC is on it
put the phone on download mode, it should tell you on that screen the model, I believe I heard that is difficult to fake that boot screen
Forgot to mention, connect the phone to to your pc through smart switch, If it is a fake it should pick it up
That adapter plug sounds like a European plug or maybe the Chinese plug. If you watch the YouTube video unboxing from Maxx Lee I bet it's the same one he has.

Just read on bay that the model does not support any cdma bands at all, Verizon sprint etc. also said it comes with an int charger but a usa adapter should have been included. stated it is factory unlocked.

Yes that phone works on any GSM carrier (i.e. T-MOBILE, AT&T, ECT..)

International version only work on GSM . Sprint, Verizon are CDMA. If you want one that work on both, you need the U.S. unlocked version. SM-G965u1, snapdragon chip.

Yeah I'll try it, I just plugged it into my computer and it came up as a S9+ but when it got delivered to my house there was no shipping label or anything on it it was just a taped up box xD that's another reason why I thought it was sketchy but at any rate do you know if the 965F can be rooted? Ik it has to be an exynos but is there a setting I can check for that? I looked in about phone and didn't see it but I also checked for OEM unlock in the developer settings and it didn't exist so I might just be overlooking them lol

Easy to buy, samsung canada will of course not provide warranty coverage for non Canadian devices. I don't worry about it though, never gave a damn about warranty on any device ive ever had.

Just an FYI, but the power adaptor is for British wall sockets.
To the uninitiated, it's bulky and over-engineered, but that's not the whole story!

so question, since it will not work on the sprint network and i bought it on ebay while they had that sale on it, what can i do with it? i called sprints customer service and they said to bring it into a store and theyll be able to just swap it out after they test it again and confirm it wont work but when i called a store at my local mall they told me sprint most likely wont swap it out because it has no use to them since its the international version and will not work on their network and if i brought it in theyd still charge me $30 for a new sim card to test it out, can you not just swap sim cards anymore? and the customer service person said they made a note on my account and the store representative told me that a corporate store (a real one) might be able to help me more but he doubts it, am i stuck with this useless phone? and if they do allow me to turn it in will the BL be locked on the new one? any and all advice is appreciated im really in a jam with this one lol
EDIT: Ignore this it double posted and i cant seem to be able to delete it

Hey,
I have a big problem with my LG G5 H850. Google Pay or other mobile payment solutions via NFC don't work.
There is not even an error message at the payment terminal, the mobile phone is not even recognized as a virtual card.
Even if I hold a second mobile phone to my LG G5 and start an app to read NFC tags, nothing is recognized.
Generally NFC works on my G5, other NFC tags or cards I can read with it.
I'm currently using Oreo, I've already done a factory reset. I also tried all NFC and Tap&Pay settings.
Do you have any ideas what else I could try?
My next idea would be to buy a new phone

I think no. I bought a new battery, but it seems genuine. And the battery has only 3 contacts, so i dont think it has the NFC antenna included.
Which brand is it? You said it's genuine. Meaning it's the yellow oem one?

Yeah.
But as far as I know, the G5 didn't has build in the antenna in the battery. And anyway, NFC works, but not with payments.
Doesn't anyone have an idea? I really don't have an idea anymore, the only possibility I see is to buy a new phone.
