ICS Voice Search ARMv6 and Google Now - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Voice Search seems to work fine in ICS if you grab it from the store, it just doesn't come up on the stock keyboard. If you try to activate the icon in the input settings, it appears, then disappears. However, if you use a different keyboard, such as GO Keyboard or Swype, the icon shows up, and voice to text input works fine. I understand that some keyboards use their own voice search, but I believe GO uses your ICS voice search, and an older version of Swype does as well. Smart Keyboard seems like the simplest and most elegant replacement, but I haven't tested it yet.
Now then, I just read about ICS Google Now Voice Search for ARMv6 devices in this post. Does anyone know if this works for Aria?

Voice recognizer not present

Hi All,
Loving my Hero, got over 420 apps installed and it's still running as fast as anything!!!
This phone is truly amazing, came from the G1 and it's in a different class.
Anyway I have noticed when trying to use a few voice apps I get the message:
Voice recognizer not present
I have looked for an answer on the forums but can't seem to find one.
I'm on Modaco 2.8, has anyone else got the same issue?
I'm wondering if it is down to the rom or my phone.
I've tried re-flashing the rom but it didn't help.
JJ
I've got the same problem with my htc dream. I think there's some sort of voice library missing because I don't have the voice search functionality in my search widget either.
There's a message in de android-developers mailing list that the voice recognition has been removed from uk releases of hero/dream.
How to Fix!
Install Voice Seach (by google) in the market to fix this issue. It contains the required Voice Recognizer and should get everything working! My Microphone button even showed back up in the keyboard after installing!
The app is not available in many countries, so here you can download the lastest version (v2.1.4) http://www.mediafire.com/?r9b47dcirtt8m98 and flash it from the Recovery.
(found it at MoDaCo)

[Q] voice recognition issue

Hi
i just updated to 024 rooted, and everything it's ok.
now, I installed voice recognition and on google's search works like a charm (im from chile, and recognized very tricky phrases in spanish), and everything it's ok.
now, i tried several keyboards with voice recognition, like htc_ime, slideit, vlingo and talktome and any of those recognized any spanish word neither phrases.
so i'm wondering, why is that? is that they dont use google's api for translation, how come search by voice is amazing but keyboard voice input sucks?
i googled it and found no answers whatsoever.
EDIT: i tried gingerbread KB but voice input is not able for 2.1 :/
best regards,
Fernando
LAND OF MINERS!!! lol

[Q] Keyboard, google search and facebook

hi, im new to this forum
i bought the galaxy ace with a mexican mobile operator called "telcel" but i don't have 2 things in this phone....
im using default froyo 2.2.1 and im root
i would like to know where to get them...
1.- Default Froyo Keyboard
i only have samsung and swype keyboards, i know there are a lot of keyboards in the market, including the gingerbread one but its kinda buggy sometimes... i really want the default froyo keyboard
2.- Google Search
i have a "Search" widget.. but i can't get it to work with google... it uses z.telcel.mobi as search engine... even if i install the google search widget it uses z.telcel.mobi as search engine
3.- Facebook
i need an app with working notifications... the oficial facebook app doesn't shows me any notifications (only shows me some with manual update)
On 1. You can use "Smart Keyboard" from Android Market. It supports styles like
a) Iphone b) GB c) Froyo/Android etc. Its a best alternate for getting Froyo Keyboard on ur device.
On 2. and 3. I don't have much idea mate.

[Q] Speech/Voice input

Hi,
I am using CM7.1 B^N version and i want to use speech to text service of google, which usually show up when i press the mic icon in the keyboard. now the thing is i see no mic icon in the keyboard and i dont know how to enable it and if i try to download and use iris from the market it says no voice input service found and stuff like that.
i did the search and found that i need https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.voicesearch to work on my mobile but when i try to install it it says (This app is incompatible with your Motorola MB860).
Any suggestion what to do ?
EDIT: i have found why i was unable to download it cos it is the part of gapps and i have skipped or installed small version of apps and that dont have it. just extracted the apk from full version gapps and now its working just fine.
Try downloading a keyboard from the Android Market. There are many good free ones. This should solve your problem if the keyboard you download has the speech recognition key on it. If not, download other keyboards which do have it (look at the photos of the keyboards before downloading).
If this solves your problem, don't forget to leave a thanks.

I am frustrated with the lack of anything like this for ICS. I am in the same boat as you. I can't believe that Google Now is completely broken for ICS. Likewise, if you are on ICS, YOU CANNOT EVEN FIND VLINGO ON THE MARKET.
I seriously believe that Google paid Vlingo off to not make it available for ICS because we literally have no choice but to buy a Jelly Bean phone in order to have a decent voice search or voice activated app. (Because nothing comes close to Google Now or Vlingo in voice capability)
If you read the forums about ICS, you will see nothing but post after post of how ICS basically has broken voice activated and voice search mechanics. Google bent over backwards to put Google Now on Iphone, but refuses to support Google Now for ICS.
If anyone thinks it's a coincidence that Vlingo is off of the Android market for ICS and that Google Now was broken, then you are naive.
Google sold us out to get us to buy Jelly Bean phones.
I'm officially done buying Android phones after my current one dies in the future. I've never heard of such poor support for the second newest OS before. It's like ICS does not exist to Google.
Can you imagine how many thousands of people would download Vlingo from the market if they are stuck on ICS since we don't have Google Now?
(please let me know if I'm correct as I wonder if it's just HTC ICS that can't see Vlingo on market?
