Auto sync borked on Xperia S! Any solutions?? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

All the apps that use push notifications on my phone - such as Facebook and Twitter keep stopping pushing on my Xperia S. Even Gmail is stopping auto syncing.
I only bought the XS yesterday, It is locked to T-Mobile and not bootloader unlockable but I wiped the T-Mobile branded firmware off it immediately and installed stock ICS firmware (6.1A.0.453). I factory reset everything once the install was complete too.
It seems that it might be when I use Bluetooth. If I switch off Bluetooth and restart the phone they seem to start working again, but it is too soon to know if that is definitely the case. Something seems to be disabling the C2DM framework though. I'm still getting push notifications fine on my Nexus 7 running the same apps.
Is anyone else having similar issues? I'd be especially interested to hear from regular Bluetooth users if they're having the same problem - incidentally I'm also getting a lot of audio stutter with my Bluetooth speaker, which is not something I've experienced on my last few devices either, nor my N7.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Try turning sync off in Accounts & Sync section in the settings , then reboot and turn them on , u should get gmail notification , i dont know about facebook , u can delte its data and cache from settings/apps/all/facebook , might fix it ..
I think that the bluetooth issues ur having with ur speaker , is because the bluetooth version on xperia S is v2.1 , that cant be fixed
I havent had any of these issues before , ur sure u have the lt26i xperia S ? cuz the (6.1A.0.453) firmware is only for lt26i ..

Hi, it's definitely the L26i
I've now tried flashing MIUI for locked bootloaders and the same problem exists. It's nothing to do with Facebook, Twitter etc as they work perfectly on my Nexus 7, as they did on my Samsung only a few days ago. I literally get no notifications whatsoever unless I enter Gmail etc and manually refresh. All sync settings are set to 'on'
The only thing I can think is that the kernel has a glitch that somehow freezes the C2DM framework. It can't be related to the software surely as MIUI isn't just a skinned version of the stock ROM is it?
Does anyone maybe have a link to a reliable stock kernel that I can try with my locked bootloader? I'm running out of ideas if not.
On the subject of the speaker, it's definitely not that at fault. It works perfectly with my laptop, Nexus 7, my girlfriend's 4S and my old Samsung. I've never heard it stutter once until I got this Xperia.
M rapidly starting to lose faith in this device. If I can't sort it I'm going to have to sell it at a huge loss as I can't be without notifications.
It seems almost like I'm the only person affected by this.

Try to flash stock ics via flashtool again , if it didnt work and u still dont get notifications , there is nothing u can do

Is there not another stock kernel for ICS in existence that I can try?

Hmmm just an update here: I've found that the service will start again if I turn off sync, reboot then turn on sync. However if I plug my phone in then within a minute or so the service will stop again.
What the hell is going on here? Is it because I'm not using a Sony charger maybe??
This is getting ridiculous.

My friend , are u sure u havent done any kind of modification on ur device after installing the stock ics frimware ?
And i sugest using the sony charger , other chargers might work but , they wont give the fone the voltage it needs , the charger is the best way to charge safely .
And by restoring to stock ics it might work
I have never seen this kinda problem on a device before

I was already running stock ICS when I got the problem. I tried reinstalling to no avail. The only reason I switched to MIUI was because I thought it might be a firmware glitch. Could it somehow be a hardware fault??

Is there not a different kernel I can flash with Flashtool? it's the only other thing I can think of other than a hardware fault. Otherwise how can the same fault occur on too completely different ROMs? I know that MIUI on locked BL devices doesn't include a kernel but just leaves the stock one intact.

According to service centre they have to replace the mother board, but i do not want to replace, if replace then the life of phone will decrease. please help me out from this issues.
what r u running on your phone, a rom or se firmware. if its se firmware, try running a rom. update us here and we can maybe help.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.3.2 gingerbread rom from rdannar
Thanks for your input
Hi, Thanks for your input, could you please tell me how to run on ROM mode which u have mentioned? i could not able to understand coz 1st time i m using this kind of phone. what could be the reason to restart while make a call or recieve a call or sync with gmail? As per the service person they told me that the motherboard has to replace. is there a major issue?
I would say that your radio/baseband is 'dead'.
Have you tried to restore it through SEUS/PC Companion?
And to check on which ROM/Firmware you are

Facing a really annoying problem of automic rebooting. Badly need HELP!

I am facing a very annoying problem: my x10 mini(unrooted) automatically gets restarts.
Some of the days it works fine. But once it gets restarts then it restarts atleast 3-4 times a day. I have tried to reinstall the android firmware but still the problem prevails. I keep the phone memory at 21-22MB level, is the problem because of this( But I want to tell you 1 thing that I bought the phone in november and in feb end my phone was not switching on ,then I went to SE service centre they reinstalled the firmware and the problem was solved. Since then I am facing the problem of rebooting, before that it worked fine. I used to keep the phone memory around 2mb in the initial days of purchasing and it worked fine even in 2mb so I guess low phone memory is not a problem. I rooted my phone in november but when service centre employee reinstalled the firmware then I lost rooting.i.e. Now my phone is unrooted). Can the problem be because of SIM card or SD Card(corrupt files which I am aware of) or it is because of some other reason?
I dont want to go to the service centre because I feel that they will just reinstall the firmware which I already have done. It would be great if you could tell me any solution. If not the solution then a user friendly and so technical language using app which show the log of my phone so that I can figure out what happens in the system. But I really want a solution. Please guys help! Hope you guys would bring all your experience into play and help me.
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
Well ..people will need some more specific info ..like are you on the latest SE update ? what programs did u install (seems u did install quite a few as ur phone memory is ~22 MB ). Anything you noticed when it reboots ? Like while doing some operation or running something in particular when this reboot happens ?
Why dont you do a fresh flashing of the latest update through SEUS (not PC companion) and then just stick to the stock ROM (without installing anything else) for 7-10 days and see how it behaves ?
You can always take a backup of ur essentials like SMS and contacts (if you are not syncing ur contacts with google ) before you flash using SEUS.
There are ways to check the logs (using logcat ) but not sure how much effective it might be as u might not be in a position to check logs everytime when your phone reboots.
Hope this helps. Really there was very less inputs available for giving any solution.
I am having the latest android firmware. I updated the android firmware by downloading a firmware file avaible on the sony's website, I don't know what it is called but I surely didn't used pc companion for updating. There is no specific app which I am using when it restarts.
I will give any necessary info which will help you to suggest a solution.
Sent from my E10i using XDA App
you cannot just download a firmware from SE site ..it can be done only by two ways one via PC companion and the other by SE Update service. (SEUS)
And yes , it would be better to reflash through SEUS . It does seem that you have installed lots of things ..better forget them now and just use the stock ROM from SE.

I bought the phone over from bobo. And yes it does make a difference.
This problem does not occur whenever the phone is plugged in. However while running on battery, if I leave it be and once it goes into standby, it would not turn on again.
Seems to me it went into sleep of death.
At the moment, I have no idea how to fix it. But I've found a workaround by keeping the CPU on when the display is off by using wake_lock. However this workaround is a little battery consuming.

bro i have this problem before, what im doing before was playing music on mute for it not to turn off NOT until 0.62 FW came out and the problem was solved, it doesnt turn off on stock 0.62 fw and stock 2.3.4 but the screen when locked automatically turns on and off multiple times, its annoying..really so i decided to unlock my bootloader, flashed rooted 0.62 FW from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1440161, turning on and off phone and screen solved, flashed its respective ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373435, and now my phone is so stable and having no more problem.
i think the only problem i noticed just now is the back button (its not really a button) and the option button's light is turning off and on while screen is on. but thats better than your phone turns on and off or your screen.
i hope this helps.

I've done this too. Flashed the same kernel, and the same ROM as you did. But the problem still prevails in my phone. I still have to keep control of wake_lock to prevent CPU from sleeping while the display is off.
Btw, when I flashed the kernel, under my "About" in the settings, it still says .58 instead of .62.

you mean in the Settings>About Phone> in the build number it should have HYBROM V9 by boof not the kernel name like .58 or .62 if you flashed the kernel and rom correctly.
disable lockscreen
Try to disable your lockscreen in the settings menu. Maybe that helps
My phone have the very same problem.
Any good new?
I've tried the factory restore. Didn't solve the problem.
so....no solutions yet!!??!

Rebooting issue is resolved for me
Hi,
Actually after updating my phone (SE Live with Walkman) to ICS, once I switch my Bluetooth on, my phone gets restarted again and again.
I was searching for the solutions everywhere in the world..))
But finally I realize that i'm having a small delay in next restart of my phone.
So, in that time I quickly went to Settings and turned my Bluetooth Off. Now it's working fine.
And I decided not to use my Bluetooth anymore... (till the time I reach Sony Ericsson mobile service center)
Hope you also may have a chance to resolve the issue. (Temporarily at least)

Remove both sd card and sim. And then try to switch off Bluetooth by dropping notification panel and selecting setting option there. You see the screen doesn't show anything so we have to imagine the setting option and touch the Bluetooth toggle switch. It's all imaginary.. I've done this 4-5 times. But you've to be patient enough.
If still you're unable to understand the process kindly reply with your email. I'll make a video and share it with you all.

Phone is Crashing

Hello.
I have a problem with my S II... Out of nowhere it started crashing. It boots normally, but once it loaded, it crashes immediately. The crash is actually a system freeze, then it shuts down. The battery is fully charged, but the phone was burning while it was charging, not the battery though. So basically I start the phone, it freezes, then it shuts down.
Don't know if it's the battery or the firmware... I have stock firmware.
Thank you in advance.
UPDATE:
The phone is still burning, at the back top, camera area. The battery discharges very quickly now I see.
I remember using the flash before it happened. I used it to a point where it started buzzing and discharged the battery to 5%. I put it immediately to charge, but, now it's like in a vegetable state...
Still don't know if it's the firmware's fault or the battery. I don't want to rewrite the firmware, the battery I could change... But I'm thinking the camera or it's flash is broken, freezing the phone and draining it's power... Is that even possible? What to do?
Thank you.
UPDATE 2:
Ok, I found the problem, the mainboard was faulty and I had to replace it.
But now even though it seems to work even better, it has something else......... The USB port isn't working. The circuit board with the microphone, usb, etc. is the one I had before, didn't change that. So it should work perfectly, but it's not. When I plug the charger, it takes a few good seconds to see the status "charging", and when removed it's the same. When I connect the phone to the PC's USB port, it doesn't recognize the phone. What the hell? I enabled the USB Debugging on the phone and still nothing... The battery is charging though, but very slow. Damn, this phone is torturing me!!
Please someone help me with this other issue... ((
Thank you!
UPDATE 3:
I managed to fix my phone. Changed the mainboard, changed the USB board, installed firmware and it worked.
Thank you all for all your help!

How do I do that? The phone freezes the moment it loads the system. I wrote an update in the original post. Thanks for trying to help.
So, anyone has any idea?
First replace your battery. Try to replace charger. It is your main board maybe thats why your S2 restarts itself. It is critical. If it does not solve your issue ... it is your kernel. Lots of peoples are complaining about kernel bad behaviour ... they are also not rooted. So try to root it if the battery doesnt solve your issue. Also try to have a hardware checkup by a technician ...! Hope it helps

So I consulted a technician and the problem was the mainboard. I had to replace it... Now it works like a charm, or so it seemed at first. Now something else is ****ed up.
I wrote another update in the original post, please read it...
Thank you for all your help.
@lucian there are charging pins and computer connecting pics on the main board which lets your smartphone to communicate with pcand charge. These pins have some prints for reading. So these prints are damaged according to my info.!. Repair those prints and let us know.!
@Lucian Andries I have the same problem of heating at the part of camera .. Dont worry i dont think its because the problem of flash or your camera .. Only because your battery gets heated up and leads to heating up your device . So i had to change my modem to control the heating im using KH3 now which doesnt heat up very often .. but i do have some heating when its over charged !!
@GreenArrow_I9100: What is KH3?
@syedbilal093: Ok, I tried that to, I changed the USB/Microphone board too. That didn't work either. The problem this time was still the mainboard, it had a faulty stock Firmware installed on it. I installed CyanogenMod 11 SNAPSHOT 12, and the problem was solved.
Thanks guys for trying to help.

KH3 is the modem type ..
You can download it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1066735&d=1337266991
And then flash it from odin but upload file in PHONE/MODEM instead of PDA in odin It did help me with heating problem !!!
For now even im running cm11 m12 snapshot over dorimanx and encountered no problems so far . I get a battery life for around 4-5 hours on screen wifi on .. And no heating problems !

I installed that modem too. Didn't check the modem I had before. Hope will help.
On my cm11 m12 I have some problems. Applications just "stop working" out of the sudden. As there is no thread for SNAPSHOT versions, I'm asking you if you have this issue. Is this due to kernel? Should I change the kernel? I have the cm11 kernel...
Thanks!

Generally applications stop working if you alter the procedure of flashing the kernel while you flash the rom
I prefer this order
1. Install dorimanx kernel
2. check for kitkat compatible recovery
3. Full wipe data factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cache, Mounts and storage --> Format/system
4. Install Rom cm11 snapshot
5. Install Gapps(Used PA gapps)
6. Reboot !!
Anyway many say that kernel can be flashed between rom and gapps.
But so far i never had any problem of application stopped working !! So try this out !! Hope this solves your problem
Great to hear that @lucian

But is the Dorimanx kernel better than CyanogenMod's kernel?
@Lucian Andries Doesnt really matter the kernel here if you follow the correct order of flashing them .. I hv tested rom over both kernels and it was smooth with no problems So what you choose is upto you but i personally like Dorimanx
Both kernels are good though

I don't know. CyanogenMod may be smooth and all, but the GPS isn't working even with KH3 modem, unless set it to network/wi-fi/gps. And the camera also doesn't perform right. The colours are desaturated and it doesn't focus right. I think I'll roll back to official stock 4.1.2 for this device...
Could you tell me which is the best stock 4.1.2? I'm from Romania, and here we have this version "I9100XWLSS_I9100OXFLS3_COA_4.1.2". But they didn't put any effort into it...
Thank you.

All stocks are the same only difference is the location and language as far as i know get your required zip from samfirmware.com as per your location and flash it through odin. It should work !!

I don't know about that. I don't think it's just the location and language. For the language, all the location firmwares have all the languages included. But, not all the location firmwares are the same. I'm sure some of them have more work put into them than others. That's why some of them are buggy, having boot loops, very high battery consumption and slow response in apps and menus. Get my point? That's why I asked which country has the best official rom.
@Lucianandries, i came here after a long time. Some issues. Exams preparation, you know . I want to ask if your other problems are solved or not.? As for "application stopped" error. It is usually normal in Cyanogenmod. I also sometimes face this and that's why i don't use CM. Try to use "Official" builds. They are good.!
