CWM icon not in cyanogenmod 9 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, about a week ago i rooted my Sgs 2 i9100, as you do, and it installed super user and cwm on it. Later on i flashed Cyanogenmod 9 on to it, so far so good, but when i go to the app drawer theres no cwm icon in there, i would really like to know how to get it on here as this app is really handy when it comes to doing backups and installing apk's.
Thanks.

CWM app only works perfectly well with CF-ROOT kernel. So in CM9, it's users.
BTW, if you are flashing CM9, you must also know how to do backup in recovery, or install apk

Oh yeah, so i would have to flash a CF-ROOT kernel on my phone?
I have flashed CM9 and have a backup already before i flashed it and i know how to install apk files.

Do try that, your phone will not boot, CF root kernel is for Samsung Roms.
Restore CWM app if you have the backup

Dude, I was asking if that's what I had to do, no need to be sarcastic about it.

For what u want to use ROM Manager???I don't think, that Rom Manager supports Siyah!!!
When u flashed Siyah, u must have got an app named "cwm".
Use that, it has all functions of Rom Manager.

And CM9 doesn't support Siyah. Not sure it would even boot.
His recovery is from CM9's included kernel, and it's recovery 5.5.

Rom Manager is well known for causing problems with SGS2. Use it @ your peril. Much "safer" to boot into CW Recovery & do all one's flashing/backup/recovery/etc.
Then if someone uploads the downloded one somewhere so everybody takes it and put it in cwm folder in internal sd

Download chainfires cwm manager it gives you similar options depending on your kernel.

in short, CM7 is based off Gingerbread and CM9 is based off ICS. If you want ICS, flash CM9 or one of the other roms in the dev section(s).
CM9

You need to read around a LOT more.
First off, don't use ROM Manager on a Galaxy S2.
Second, no, there is no version of 4.0.3 for CM7 because cm7 itself is 2.3.7. What you want is CyanogenMod 9.
EDIT: Ninja'd! That took me much longer to type than I thought it did. :S
Has anyone mentioned to you that you need cm9 for ics?
Oh there it is.

You can use TB to backup apps and data. Just remember when you're restoring apps on your new rom, DO NOT restore system apps/data. It will royally screw things up. The best course of action would be to manually select which games/apps to restore with data. The rest of your apps you should just redownload from the Play Store.
As for ROM Manager, it can just mess things up on this phone. You don't need it though...you can do everything you need to do with CWM Recovery or Mobile Odin.

@matt,
I thought ROM Manager still works perfectly for any CyanogenMod ROM, CM7 or CM9. It's just highly recommended NOT to use with any other ROM that not-CM.
@OP, I strongly suggest you spend much more time reading and make sure you understand the whole process of making the CM9 on your device. In fact, it will save you more time than just keep flashing it, bricking it and hunting for help.

If you already have a kernel with ClockworkMod, you don't need to worry about flashing one before flashing CM9.
Here is what you need to do:
1. Nandroid backup.
2. Download latest CM9 and GAPPS
3. Do a full wipe in ClockworkMod
4. Flash CM9 in ClockworkMod
5. Flash GAPPS in ClockworkMod

ITS A GUI INTERFACE FOR CWM
you can boot into CWM directly and do anything that ROM manager can do except download the rom....
we have stickies outlining all this stuff already, not sure why thats a totally new concept for folks these days

To install cm10 you need root access, go check cfroot by chain fire. Gapps is basically your Google now etc. With a custom recovery, just flash the cm10 and Gapps and you'll be good to go.
Stock kernel is subjective with very little difference. All kernels work for me so it's not so much of an issue deciding which is better.
The best rom is the one you try for yourself. Rom comparisons are not allowed on xda
Latest stock will be depending on whether you want android version 4. 1.1 or 4.0.4
Wrong section btw, should be posted in the q&a

You can safely ignore that error.
CWM in the apps drawer is the UI interface of the CWM recovery (accessed by pressing the Vol Up+Home+Power when booting up). CWM recovery works without a hitch.

All options are there when you boot into recovery, it is just the app that is incompatible, meaning a couple of the options won't work directly from the app....you need to boot into recovery to do those things.....don't worry, it's all there.
I personally prefer the older recovery as it doesn't use the blob method of backing up. And I'm used to the old way!

rooting bell galaxy note i717 4.0.4

I just picked up a i717 and I'm trying to root via this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367. I first tried to flash CWM with odin and then I tried a root file with odin then TWRP with odin but after all of them I still cannot get into recovery (it's still stock recovery). Any help would be appreciated.
Read through THIS THREAD.
I had issues when trying to root my Bell i717 as well. All the links to everything you need should be in there...just read...and read again.
in case you miss it or read too fast..
there is a point where you pull the battery so you dont have your recovery overwritten during boot..
once i was in cwm recovery i flashed a custom rom that did not have that "feature"

It all depends what you are looking for.
I want something I can record calls with, and something not bloated.. so I'm still searching for just the right Rom. I used to use wanam on the sgs2 and he spoiled me for all other developers.

You have to give some time to it to settle down... Maybe 2-3 cycles...
And fur reverting you have to dirty flash your ROM that is flash your without wiping data...
