SkyGo working Rooted S3? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has any one got SkyGo working on a rooted S3?
I'm running Siyah Kernal and WanamLite rom. I have tried using 'hide my root' and 'Voodoo OTA RootKeeper' however SkyGo still pickups that my device is rooted. I've even tried remove Root in STweaks.
Any one else got and ideas on how to make it work?
I've tried Triangle Away.

I would have thought devs would have come up with a way by now to get it working on a rooted dog and bone when you consider the amazing stuff that happens on XDA every day of the week.

You'd think but I'm sure theirs something in the small print that prohibits it

[HOW TO] Barclays Mobile Banking working on rooted S3

I hope someone comes up with a solution. Thanks for the link, I tried out the suggestion in that thread however still doesn't work.
Always comes up with just as your about to start streaming. Skygo is not supported on rooted Android devices.

I'm pretty surprised no-ones got this to work yet too! Shame really as I used to use skygo at work to watch crap when bored.

you can unroot it temporarily

I've tried many times and it only ever works if I completely reset/format the phone back to stock. Just surprised no-ones patched the apk accordingly!

use superSU's full unroot. if that doesn't work - uninstall superSU

Tried and tried ... Still fails to work, I can only get it to work by doing a full factory wipe and restore which tbh I can live without it, it's more of a case that I would of thought people would of patched the apk by now!
Cheers for the help though.

maybe you're doing something wrong, because the full unroot should work

Down sides of rooting?

I want to root my device but I'm wondering what some down sides may be. Also what would be the best way to root? Mashi or what? And I'm looking to increase performance and add additional features like nfc and scrolling wallpaper to name a couple. Thanks for any help!

no down side to rooting, benefits are more access to different areas of the system, and able to modify parts not accessible before rooting. Now the best way will depend on what you want, if you care about the flash counter then go to my thread in the dev section, if you don't care about the flash counter or warranty then I definitely recommend Da_G's overclocking kernel that also roots the device.
Wifi tethering, removing bloatware, blocking adds from free apps, are a couple and flashing custom roms/kernels which enhance performance. You also run the risk of bricking your device... Rooting also voids your warranty. So think carefully before jumping into it.

The only downside is losing warranty, really.

Samsung added a flash counter that when you flash any custom rom /kernel/recovery will keep track of how may times you have flashed firmware supposedly to decide who deny warranty to. You can revert back to stock but not the counter.

Double post sorry
As Android is based on a linux kernel, rooting your device is allowing yourself access to the very lowest level of system files. Doing so allows you to make alterations that are to your benefit, but of course this is also a vulnerability. These same system files control the well being of your device, and thus malicious applications are capable of corrupting it's files.
Nothing once we get ICS the counter can be reset to 0.

Amazon Video might be detecting root and not allowing me to log in. Not sure if thats it or not though.
I rooted using da g method and the only downsides i have seen so far are fc's on the xda app, random reboots, and the flash counter issue. However, since the cwm zip came out, all of the above issues except for the flash counter have been corrected.

I forget, did they ever manage a work around for android market video rentals? If not, can't rest movies from there... But i personally never had the desire.

I think I would like to root using da g method but I am a huge noob and would like to know how to do so with steps very easy to follow on what to do first. Can someone give me a thread or possibly there own info on how to do so? I really need simple directions (or as simple as possible) because I don't want to mess my device up.

The directions in DaG's thread are super simple. Just take it slow and read it good and it should be pain free.
Another app that doesn't work when rooted is the UltraViolet application for watching movies that offer the UltraViolet digital copies. I think there is mention that Amazon Prime Video streaming also doesn't work due to root.

Is that just the root only? or root with over clocking? I did the original root only method and have never had any of those problems. I'm just wondering if it is from the over clocking method and not the root by itself?
Do I do his through my phone or computer? I'm still confused so any help is appreciated.

It's root only. The benefits of rooting are far more advantageous though. I just deal with the issue above! I can use something like DVDFab and make my own movie files that play fine.

Apps not recognizing phone as being rooted. Help?

Gents (and ladies),
My phone is rooted, with vanilla 4.3 running. For a reason beyond my level of comprehension, apps are not recognizing the phone as having been rotted (with the exception of Notification Toggle).
I've got some screenshots attached showing the problems I'm encountering, which I'm hoping can get us started on working toward a solution.
If there's any other info you need from me, please let me know.
Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you so much in advance.
This may not even be your case but l know on the note 4.3 roms we had to go in developer options and make sure root access was set to apps and adb for root to function properly hope that helps you with your delima bro.

[Q] Noob Question: Will updating from Rooted Stock MDK Brick?

I know it sounds crazy, but, I still need to learn more first. I really don't need root as of right now. So, if I update, will it screw up my phone? ANd currently, I have the AIO Project Odex installed and uninstalled TalkBack and disabled Samsung TTS and Google TTS. And, please, I know its a stupid question, but please answer.
First, it may not update because you are rooted. It shouldn't brick it though, just lose root. Second, if you do update, and I'm assuming it's too me7, you currently do not have a way to flash custom roms. And you may give up that option for ever. I would discourage you from updating.

Why wouldn't it update? Would I have to unroot then update?. Next, that's all I really want. I'm not very familiar with the Jelly Bean Odin for fixing. And, I already do know that, and couldn't I find a way back to MDK with Odin? And for some reason, I'm terrified of rebooting because it might bootloop. (I know, crazy right?)

If you take the update there is no way back to mdk for technical reasons, look up q-fuses. Since you are rooted the update may not work. And boot loops are not that big a deal if you know how to get past them. I'd not update and do a lot more research. The update isn't going a way and you can always do it if you want. BUT, you can't go back once you do.
I still don't understand why it won't work. And how would I get past them? (I know to do it on GB Xperia Play not, Jelly Bean/ S4)

It sounds like your telling me your phone boot loops every time you reboot it? You've done a lot of messing with your phone by the sounds of it. That's the reason ota update probably won't work.

If anyone is thinking of installing V4A on stock LG Android P769 it doesn't work

*UPDATE!* I found that using the V4A Tool apk fixed the effects! It was in Chinese, so I just selected an option. I didn't need to run that on my N7 but I guess I had to on my P769BK!
I don't recall that being mentioned in the install instructions.

I spent the last 2 hours on trying to make it function, safe mode, compatible mode, you name it, it has been done.
So if you are on LG/T-Mobile stock 4.1.2 for the P769BK and rooted, don't bother. It doesn't work.

It would be extra nice if you make a mini step by step guide to show how you made V4A work on you L9 . I followed the user guide and I only managed to make it work with Apollo Music player but it sort of prevents any other app from accessing the sound server even the system sounds and the ring tones; all become muted except for Apollo with V4A.

So have you downloaded the latest version and checked? I think not.
I tried with the newest version (which is a apk now), and it didn't work. I didn't hear any difference in quality.
The old version that was a recovery flashable zip worked. I wish I didn't delete that zip now.

If he can't get it working he shouldn't announce things like that to the other folks who haven't tried and were curious, also the ones who don't even read threads.
And for the record you don't need to flash anything for viper4android, it does it all without recovery, idk why you installed that version kuma

Yes i was with WanamRom and No i just didnt installed busybox. When i was doing rooting.. then CWM then busybox all together it didnt work... and also triangle away even though in download mode i was 0 and official wasnt able to make my system status to official. Then i tried each one.. 1st root... dongle worked.. then cwm.. dongle worked.. then busybox.. dongle stoped working.... thats it.
So i ended up understanding that somehow one of the checks that sammy does is that if busybox exists in the system.

This is interesting. Because normally it is that the dongle works - root or not - as long you have the stock kernel AND the stock recovery.
And you got it to work with CWM - a custom recovery. Strange.
Did you try to uninstall busybox?
No really, I just trying with different kernels because for some reason some kernels was found by triangle way to show info inside the app but most didn't, in the end when I realized it wasn't kernel or recovery related I left the stock kernel. Understand that what ever I tried off course was happened after reboot with triangle away to reset the counters and the system status.

I was going nuts switching roms, defrosting app by app, i just couldn't understand why my backed up factory stock rom would mirror just fine and every other custom rom wouldn't. Then it came to me, its the kernel, because i gave up and i said i will just root and debloat stock and live without custom roms. I realized its kernel related as soon as I put another custom kernel and mirror failed.
So I am really glad I ran into this forum, thank you so much for confirming my doubts. All i do now , is restore boot.img from my recovery if i want to mirror , then i can always go back to my fav. kernel whenever i want.
Thanks again fellas.
