Is anybody getting better than 5 hours battery on a JB ROM?
I used to get no less than 9 hours, sometimes as many as 18 hours on ICS (Joker's CM9 and Th3Bill's Paranoid Android).
I like JB, but I'm going on a trip up north next week, and I'll probably be hours without a charger. Can't have my phone die on me in a strange area.
I'm almost certain I have to go back to ICS to accomplish this, but if not, let me know.
And can't whatever preserves battery in ICS be ported to JB? I can't believe Google Now and Project Butter make it use twice as much battery. Doesn't really seem worth it. What do you guys think? 5 hours tops... vs. 18 hours tops... 3 hours minimum.... vs. 9 hours minimum.

battery life is decent on JB. regular off and on use i get around 24 hours average. constant use i get like 5-6.
turn off the data if you want it to last longer. or use airplane mode. better yet. go with CM7. i got up to 4 days of use with the data off. :cyclops:
ICS has better battery life all around. But as far as JB goes, CNA has the best battery life by a wide margin. Its about as good as ICS but comes up slightly shorter in most cases. I easily get 24 hours of uptime with moderate usage. About 12 with heavy usage.
Define moderate usage. I got maybe 12 hours when I do nothing with it

There are a few things that come into play. For one, after calibrating the battery it still takes two or three charge cycles to start to notice a normalized amount of battery drain. Also, profiles profiles profiles! Powersave govnah with three or four profiles for in call, screen off, etc. Increases battery life by about 75% in most cases.

Honestly the battery life on this is not good for me, with no use but about one call I get 10-11 hours tops. With constant use(essentially not stopping for sleep mode)browsing and just going to apps like xda and the market I get about 4, back on stock 2.1 before the JI6 update I could go days on standby. I've wiped battery stats plenty of times now and seem to get no noticeable change. Also I've noticed that my battery will charge fully in 2 hours.

The best two firmwares for me so far have been Bionix Final (JI6 based w/JI2 modem) and Obsidian v2. Following my usual daily routine I'm getting about 14-16 hours from Obsidian v2, which includes a smattering of phone calls and texting, about a half hour of solid app usage (ye olde lunch break at work) and frequent checking of the display for time (I'm a manager with a fairly large staff so staying on top of what time it is, is a critical thing for me). At work I live in a very marginal data connection zone, with the phone frequently switching back and forth from 3G to Edge as well, and this hasn't had quite the negative impact on battery life that JI6's baseband usually implied.
I did get slightly better battery life with Bionix Final, but not enough better to justify going back. It seems my experience are quite the opposite of yours, or at least very different. With this being the case, I'd just suggest you use an app with more granular monitoring capabilities (like for instance Spare Parts) to try to find out why your battery life is so poor. I would wager it's probably app related and not OS related. Best of luck regardless.
If i used the phone like a computer i would get like 4-6 hours of usage (that's non stop usage) but if i used it lightly i can get like 15-17 hours. I guess it's not possible for me to use the phone with heavy usage for more than 6 or 7 hours.

This is the state of things. It's no different than your average laptop in that regard.
i have a galaxy and im getting some ridiculously good battery with custom rom, im at 10 hours with over 50% battery with moderate usage, i was thinking about switching to amaze because i really need led notification and camera button, can you guys let me know what the battery on the amaze is like how much usage and what percent u have ? i know itll be worse then the galaxy i just want to see how it will be to help me decide
I'm still figuring out exact battery life times, but I'm getting about 5-6 hours with very heavy usage (screen on for about 2 hours total according to battery use).
I'm at 9 hours with 12% left. I'm running unrooted totally stock but with Juice Defender Free on aggressive. Fairly heavy usage since I just got it yesterday and am constantly playing with it. That usage includes 60 min with My Tracks (gps) and PowerAMP running while out waking the dog. However I did have it connected to my pc for about half an hour while i was transferring music.
amaze
damn thats not looking good, anyone that rooted and installed one of the roms get better battery ? because 9 hours with a battery app doesnt sound too good, im at almost 15 hours with my galaxy and i have close to 50% battery left, with moderate usage (some facebooking, lots of text, emails,15-30 mins of gaming) not going to lie the battery on the galaxy with the rom i have is kind of ridiculous, best ive seen, but if the amaze can at least hold for 16 hours on moderate use on a full charge or 12 hours on heavy id be happy

I've only had one other android phone, and that was an Atrix. I got about 12 hours from each charge and 2 hours screen time--- compared to when I first got it when I got 20 hours and 3 hours screentime.
It seems like this galaxy note is going to be the same way so far -- although i REALLY want to be bale to get 30hrs and 5hrs screen time. Let's see if I can

Wow...Really? I had the Atrix as well and could get well over 30 hours of charge on it after about a year. The first few months I was seeing between 12 and 20 hours. For me it seemed the longer I had it the better the battery life was.
I'd frequently have it unplugged from 6 AM to 1 AM daily and have 60% left. That may be because all my usage came over a consolidated period of time and the rest of the time was light usage.
My first Android phone was the original Droid...I was able to coax around 24 hours out of it...but I was rooted with a custom ROM and a LV overclock kernel for it.
I'm hoping that I can get at least 14 hours with the Note on the same sort of routine...not so much this week because I don't want to put it down! LOL...my usage has gone from Light/Moderate to HEAVY...I fully expect to be able to hit this after a few more charge cycles (provided my usage goes back to normal...with the screen size I can see myself using this more than the Atrix, so we'll just have to see).
Over 20 hours of use with wifi, Bluetooth, LTE, auto-brightness, web browsing, video playing, texting, emailing and forum posting.
Yea, that's 5h 14m "screen on" time, too. 5.3 inch LTE device with those battery stats - yea, I'm happy. If your expectations are any higher you're delusional. 100% stock.

I want to select 14-16, but in this poll are you implying that at 16 hours I need to hit the charger or turn it off? This is rather subjective because I have a few friends that consider a phone "dead" the minute it hits 30%. Hell even the custom power saving profile is defaulted to kick in at 30%.
16 hours from my workday wake up time is only 11PM. I'd like to think if I decide to go out on the weekends I don't need to worry about charging up unless I've been using the phone like crazy throughout the day.
So we are at 10-12 hours so far in the poll. I hope we can get more input.
It's just $25 for TWO (semi-decent) spare batteries and a charger on Amazon... so no worries!
That said, the first few days with this phone have been rough! I've been using it so damn much that I have to plug it in at just 6 or 7pm when I get home from work. (DOH!) I'm sure my usage will go down a little after the honeymoon period wears off (maybe?). Luckily, though, my spare batteries are set to arrive today... so it's all good!
Ever since I installed cm7 stable, my battery wont get to 4200mv, max is 4191 after 10 hrs on charger. Is this a sign of a bad battery or a bug within the rom? I forced it to show 100% by doing the battery pull while plugged in trick, but I've never come across anyone not reaching full mv when doing this just the not showing 100% search didn't result in anyone with the mv issue just the % issue. Anyone know what maybe be the issue?
The only time you'll see 4200mv is when you're plugged in to the charger and the phone things the battery is full. Battery cells degrade so the battery is pretty much never going to hold 100% of it's capacity.
Honestly 4191mv is pretty good. I'm usually around 4160mv or so after coming off the charger unless I need to do a calibration.

I never got even 16 hours out of mine on stock. In fact even on custom roms im barely getting from wake up in the morning to before bed at night. I'd say from 7am to 10pm before I have to plug in. I am on it probably a total of 5 of those hours with 3 games I play, looking at xda about 10 times a day and the occasional call.
Is that 5 hours of screen time? If so, I would personally say that sounds pretty good. I've always got about 24 hours standby and maybe 3 hours screen time on most ROMs.
Mine goes from 6.15 (when I unplug it) to 15.00 draining 20% o so power... it's mostly idle, with occasional whatsapp and email, data always on. Then, from 15 i start using it pretty hard (an hour of wifi, installing/removing things from market, playing max payne and mc3 online, etc) and it can made through the day (in fact, I usually play a lot on bedtime, so i can drain the remaining battery (about 40, 30%) and recrage it overnight. I can't complain, mi milestone (AKA motorola droid) was lucky if it could make it the whole day Considering the massive display, the dual-core and the amount of ram (including the apps running in background) it's petty impressive

Yup that's screen on time. Idk it just seems like it could go longer but such is life. Lol
On the normal cyanogen releases and the nightlys I'm getting six hour battery life.
In WebOS I have fantastic battery life but I prefer Android.
I put HBOOT and whatever you require for Android a long time ago so is it possible I'm just not updated?
I really want better battery life, I'm thinking maybe there's a kernel or hboot or recovery I could flash that might help or something, because I love android but just can't stand charging in the middle of the day with mild use.

Haha, wish I could get 6 hours out of mine... I have it OC'ed to 1.78Ghz, both cores forced online, performance governor, and screen brightness to 100%... it dies in about 2hrs.
Consider yourself lucky you are not bothered by lag or dark screens as much as I am...
Love my TouchPad, but it I always keep it plugged in if my hands are not on it at that moment.
My daughter gets pretty good battery life out of mine watching Netflix or movies in VLC. I know I'm using an older version but don't recall which off the top of my head.
I know I've gone in there on multiple occasions and she'll have fallen asleep while Netflix is constantly streaming new episodes. Easily 8 hours later with still 1/4 charge. It sits on the stand charger when not in use.

if you customize the settings you can easily get more battery life than you could in webos, simply because you can change settings in a nice custom android rom version that you cant change in webos. everything from the wireless scan interval, wireless tx power using iwconfig, tons more processor power options, you can setup power profiles in most every overclocking app, tell the device how much power to use and when to use it. youre just gonna have to start learning how things work in android.
I am averaging 17-18 hours between charges using CM9 (August 19).

You didn't mention what ROM you are using or overclocks or usage?
Are you saying you, with constant continuous use, you get 6 hours? Or do you mean 6 hours between need a charge, idle & periods of use?
If it's the first, then that is not bad for constant usage, consider:

I pretty much get the whole day on mine... 6am to about 10 or 11 pm and usually have 10 to 15% left..
Facebook notifications set at every 30 minutes
Tapatalk notifications coming in 30 minutes
Plume notifications every 15 minutes
Gmail syncing everything
Hotmail syncing everything
Google+ syncing and running
Flipboard running
GReader Pro syncing every 30 minutes
SetCPU set to 192 low and 1782 high, ondemand and cfq set
Several games for kids my daughter uses and at least 2 or 3 hours of Netflix for her watching her stuff.
My TP is in my hands the vast majority of the day. Take it off the Touchstone when I wake up and don't set it back til I go to sleep
Sooo if your only getting six hours of use I would recommend doing a COMPLETE wipe of webOS and Android to rule out software and also get the Touchstone charger if you don't have one... if that doesn't do it then I'd say you have a failing battery or an internal charging issue
And yes I can watch 6 hours of movies in a day... usually more like almost 9 if I knock down SetCPU to not go over 972
