What Firmware did you download? Please state the full name of it here.
What GSII Model do you use? The Galaxy SII I9100 or the SII I9100G?
A pal of mine flashed a I9100 Firmware on a I9100G device and had an error in Odin and had a similar error on his phone after that.

If the update has failed, selecting recovery mode in Kies does not work and Odin throws out errors; I suggest you hand the phone into your nearest Samsung service center since you have stated that your phone was never rooted or modified.

Sometimes when Kies is running it can cause problems for Odin (Or so I have read), so what you can try is: Open Task Manager and then end every Kies activity that is running on your computer and then try again flashing through Odin while you are in Download mode (don`t forget to press volume up to continue through the warning) and if this goes wrong, copy the steps Odin has made until the error, so we can see where Odin has a Problem.

I didn`t said start kies, just kill all processes running connected to kies and then flash again..
but it`s your call and about warranty it should be still there if you said you haven`t rooted your phone and never installed any Rom on it. If they ask just tell them you tried to update via Kies and some weird error occurred and that`s the last thing that happened because I heard that some service centers won`t repair your phone even if you tried to flash original Samsung Firmware.

Well you downloaded a Stock Firmware already which has the brickbug but it can only brick your phone when you do this:
Here's how to BRICK your phone :
-Flash the 4.0.4 firmware with/without its pit file
-Use any 4.0.4 based kernel - stock or modified (ex cf-root)
-Go to cwm and do a wipe data & wipe cache and/or perform a nandroid restore of any previous firmware
=> The process begins normally but it may/will switch off at any time without waking up ever again !!!!!
But since you don`t want to root your phone, you can`t go into CWM, so bricking your phone with the firmware you downloaded shouldn`t happen but if you want to be sure, just download any 4.0.3 Stock Firmware from Samfirmware and flash via Odin

Listen, you have the right file for your phone, but it appears the flash failed part way through.
Are you plugged directly into a usb port on your computer? (i.e. not using a hub, or a port on the keyboard or monitor, etc?)
If not, make sure to use a direct port on the computer.
If so, I'd try a different port on the computer, and maybe try a different usb cable.
Not a direct port, bad port, and bad cable can all cause bad flashes.

I don't know why you'd want to go all the way back down to 2.3.3, but sure, that should work. Provided, of course, you downloaded a firmware meant for your phone.

I tried to update the firmware/kernel/etc on my s2 to kh3 firmware using instructions I found here (they are in spanish) and well, part of the instructions said to use the .pit file (included in the downloade .rar) and check the re-partition box (although after selecting the .pit file from the, it auto checks it). And well, I hit start and halfway through it just failed, the blue bar on the phone stopped moving and on Odin it said in red FAIL and it showed remove and added device again and kind of wanted to start over again and I left it there for a while but nothing moved anymore.
So I tried doing it again and now it will just FAIL almost instantly (about 5-10 secs in) on Odin. I think the last step it does on the log before the FAIL is boot.ini
Have I bricked my phone? Can someone please help me out
*EDIT*
I downloaded XXKH3Android 2.3.4 This package has: PDA: XXKH3| Modem/phone: XXKH3| CSC: OXAKH3.Download: http://www.multiupload.com/P92D3CE95I from this official thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and followed the instructions there to flash it, but I get nothing, FAIL as well.
The only thing I can do is get into the download mode and it says:
Product Name: GT-i9100
Custom Binary Download: YES (1 count)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
I'm pretty sure that "Current Binary" said something else though before it failed on the above mentioned flash. And the only thing I did before that was root the phone so I could backup with Titanium Backup and perform this firmware upgrade. I had the yellow triangle on startup after the root, so I guess that it didnt say samsung official, it said something else before.
Have you installed kies? Was kies running while flashing? Have you tried a different USB port? Maybe try using a different PC.
Just some ideas to try.
You should never tick the pit file. You should also never repartition. Search for help with keywords pit file and see what needs to be done.
In the instruction you referanced, it clearly say in bold:
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Seem clear to me.
Yep your phone is pretty much bricked, and you did pretty much the only thing you should NOT do: use PIT and repartition.

First flash Counter moves fron zero to 1 .
Can you get into recovery mode if so
Advanced Wipe Dalvik cache
back
Wipe cache
Mounts and storage .
Format system cache and data .
Reboot remove battery
Start Odin
Put the downloaded firmware to PDA
Touch nothing else .
Replace battery boot to download mode connect cable and flash firmware .

These are the second set of instructions that I found only after being stuck with what appears like a bricked phone On the instructions I was following from Movilzone, it does say to use the .pit file and check repartition. And the comments on that article below has other people saying thanks and that it works which was the reason why I followed it. I came to XDA and found this other guide and all the other info only AFTER searching for what to do with a possible bricked phone
Here is what it says on that page (link is on my original post):
Paso 4: Instalación limpia: Abrir Odin y configurarlo de la siguiente manera: colocar el archivo “CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar” en el campo “PDA”; “GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar” en “CSC”; y “MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar” en “PHONE”. Además, debes marcar la casilla“Reparition” y cargar el archivo “u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit” en su correspondiente celda. and the image shown for reference was pretty clear as well

I installed it because according to the instructions I followed, I needed to have the S2 device drivers installed which were part of Kies. Not sure if it was running while I tried flashing, I don't think I ever saw a tray icon running, still dont.

If you see the upper left corner window ID turn YELLOW with an ID com and in message ADDED you`re good to go to flash the rom.

OMG! IT FLASHED!!! I had literally tried about 5 times to flash it hours ago before giving up and going to sleep and it would always fail on the boot.ini process in Odin. Today I read some more threads and one of you guys suggested using a different USB port. I did this and it detected on com 6 instead of 3/4 and now it flashed!!!! I was able to get GT-I9100_XEO_I9100XXKH3_I9100XXKH3_I9100OXAKH3.tar on it which was what I was trying to get on after failing with those other crappy instructions and files from the Movilzone site tutorial.

found the post! I thought it was from another thread but using another USB port for some reason worked and fixed my issue!!! THANKS SO MUCH for your input and things to try. Sometimes it's the smallest suggestions that work!
Ok, I now have some other questions.
I had done a complete wipe (regular wipe and cache wipe through CWM) after rooting and before following those god awful firmware update instructions on Movilzone.
since I had all this issue and practically tried to flash around 5-8 times with fails before now it finally working. Should I go into CWM and do another wipe and wipe cache and flash again (this time using XDA instructions and not tick re-partition or use a .pit file)?
**EDIT**
I just realized I don't have CWM anymore, I have the "Android system recovery <3e>". I assume this is the original OEM one? So if my phone came with CWM on it then the company I bought it from must have installed a custom rom on it? is that it?
whoops.... double post

You don't need to do anything else as long as your phone is working fine. CWM recovery would only be on your phone if someone has flashed it to your device. So if you already had it maybe the person you bought it from had flashed it. Yes Recovery 3e is stock.
Glad you sorted it
Good news your phone was recovered. I just had another incident just yesterday. My phone only give a big "S" symbol even I took out the battery for about one minute and put back still gave me the Big "S". Download mode and recover mode by three buttons pressed also no response. But I used the USB jig(for download mode). Took out the battery, put in the USB jig then put back the battery and finally the download mode came out. So my phone was recovered. Now was on Cognition S2 KH3 ROM.

You should not have flashed a Kernel to get rid of bricked screen (phone!PC), you have to get download mod and falsh complete ROM that time...
you told your Running ROM was 2.3.6 but KI3 is an old version...

You say you dont have Kies. Download kies. Run it and it will install the drivers. Close Kies. Make sure its not running in the background. Install your original firmware that came with the phone using Odin. If your in download mode, your not bricked.

After this i clicked reboot now. and after that my phone wouldnt boot anymore. I can turn it on but it then keeps getting stuck at the boot screen with samsung galaxy ace gt s5830i on it... I can get into recovery mode and into download mode and i looked on some forums and they told me to just flash the stock rom with odin. I tried this and got my phone in download/odin mode (it says odin mode but idk if it is download or odin mode) but my pc and laptop both dont recognize the phone, but my pc actually says: ''unknown device is ready for use'' but in odin the white box thingy with com port mapping above it doesnt become yellow, although i added the cooper.ops in the select ops box and i also added a 1 package in the one package option. oh, also when i plug the phone into the usb cable when its off it give a grey empty battery with a loading circle inside it on the phones screen
I only got my phone 1 day now so please help me, it would be REALLY REALLY appreciated

Try to install samsung usb drivers.the download mode volume down+home+power button...
Bootloader okay... (phew)
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/SAMSUNG-USB-Driver-1480.shtml
Then give it a go, at least you can get into download/recovery mode
Hmm, I might look into getting you a flashable stock recovery for 5830i... but don't rely on it
If this doesn't work you can try to install samsung kies. There are the drivers included, too
Purchased your phone today and already bricked it? Bravo
Well bro install Samsung Kies, it'll install all necessary drivers for you ( most of cases)
Then try ODIN and it'll recognize your device or go to samfirmware.com and you'll find everything of your need.
and you need to be very careful now on selecting anything for your device as its GT-s5830I not standard version GT-s5830. So must of the stuff will not work only S5830I things will work

Unfortunately the 5830i Has no custom ROMS as of yet, ill extract some firmware appropriate to your device and see if I can help you.

Nope, its not a ROM- Its a Deodex (Removes .odex files in system/app to make free space) and only works on two paticular basebands
Try installing this in your recovery, you may have to name it update.zip, it is a cwm for your 5830i that you had on the link.
(Standard disclaimer, if it doesn't work and messes up your device further- I apologise very much, but you agree to take no action. By trying this you agree to it)
ok, i started odin version 1.84 (it says odin3 1,84) and here my phone gets recognized but its a really complicated program. I think it can be fixed with this program but i just dont understand it and the only stock rom i can find for s5830i is this one: http://www.androidaddicted.com/firm...erbread-2-3-6-india-firmware-update-1450.html and it is a indian version but the only one i think
Greetings,
I was trying to root my phone but something went wrong.
Odin said the root was sucessful, but when I switch my phone on, it just shows the yellow triangle and it just freezes.
I can wait, 5, 10...15 minutes it just keep showing that screen and it won't let me do anything. Can't see kernel version, can't install anything..
If I do home button + vol up + switch, it will show me the same screen again.
If I do home button + vol down + switch, it will ask to reboot or install. If I do install and connect it to my computer, my computer won't recognize it. Odin won't too.
And if I switch it on now it get's heated fast.
What do you suggest I do?
Thanks,
Edit: sorry forgot to say. Use USB jig to get into download mode.
Download one of chainfires cfroot kernels or siyah kernel and flash via Odin.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct kernel got the corresponding ROM?
I doubt a USB jig would help you if you had ICS.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
the usb jig still works fine on ICS.
there was a break in the gingerbread roms, when they came out with a new bootloader that would not allow resetting of the binary counter and removing the yellow triangle through the usb jig, but if you flash the old bootloader from intratech's thread, there is no problem. works for ICS as well.
also, i don't understand how people are so eager to use triangleaway. chainfire wrote in his own thread, that it is an emergency tool, if you have to send your phone in and don't have a jig handy, but in general, the jig is preferable, because it is safe, in contrast to an app.

You can probably flash the latest 3.x Siyah kernel to at least get the phone booting. Who knows, you may even like Siyah, as aceofclubs suggests above. (and Siyah roots your phone too)

Yes, but you have the option of downloading a CWM flashable zip package as well; the dev for Siyah offers both packages. A .tar for Odin, and a .zip for CWM recovery.
Siyah (for ICS) thread.
I just noticed that on the upper left corner of "Downloading.. Do not turn off target !!" screen, it says "Odin Mode; Product name ... (...) "

Well, can you still get to recovery mode? If so, you can download the CWM .zip file for Siyah, put it on your SD card, and flash it that way...
But before you do that; to get your computer to recognize the phone being plugged in, have you tried:
- making sure Kies is not running at the same time Odin is?
- different USB cable?
- different USB port? (should be directly to PC port, not a hub, or keyboard, or other pass-through)
- different computer?
It is extremely irregular for a kernel flash to break the USB port functionality.

Just a bootloop, give this a go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
You will lose all data although, nothing on external sd card will be lost.
Also, how did you flash the ROM? If you followed the guide step-by-step, you shouldn't have ended up in a bootloop.
I wiped all partitions and then flashed the zip file.
Is it with a bootloop that you even can't get in to recovery? I'm stuck on samsung logo, not on RR logo

Ah I'm stupid! You need to get into recovery for that thread! You're definitely holding the correct buttons when the phone is fully off (home + power + volume up)?
I think I will give it a go. But the threat says that you should do it from your recovery, or if you are not comfortable with the recovery way you should do it via odin. I can't get in recovery, so maybe I have an other problem..
I'm honestly a little scared of odin.

This is taken straight from my rooting guide. It will help you correctly set up Odin:
First off, you need Odin, which is a flashing tool specifically designed for the SGS2: Just type in "Odin 1.85" without quotations into Google and the first result should display "Odin - xdadevelopers - XDA Developers." Click on the link and Odin will download.
Now before going ahead with Odin, download Kies: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ ,which is like iTunes for Samsung Devices, the drivers are needed for Odin, but when the drivers have been installed, close Kies, right click on your toolbar at the bottom of your desktop, I'll assume your running Windows 7, and go into Task Manager. Now find anything with Kies running in the Task Manager, right click on them and kill them.
Once you have done this, go to "sammobile.com", sign up and download a stock ROM for the GT-I9100. I'll assume you have the international SGS2, just remove your battery and make sure it isn't the GT-I9100G. Then flash via Odin by connecting your phone, making sure Odin is configured like above, and then putting your phone in download mode, connecting it to your PC and put the file you downloaded in the PDA section and flash.

Yes, if you can't get into Recovery Mode, a new flash is your only saviour. When you have flashed the ROM and hopefully everything went well, you can root your ROM by using Chainfire's CF-Root. Then you could restore a backup.
I have also a zip-file of my previous rom on my sd-card. That was codename lungo. Can I flash that zip so i don't neet to re-root lik you said?

Do you know what it is/does? Also, the guide I took that segment on setting up Odin was actually written for rooting your ROM with CF-Root.
Oh, its a ROM. My bad! Well, I'm not too sure. I think if you have a backup of it, that would be safer. Rooting is real easy anyway.
Is Codename Lungo not a HTC Sensation ROM?

Don't thank me till it's working! Once new ROM flashed and booted, let me know.
By the way, don't use the .PIT file if one is included in the download, if you get PDA, PHONE and CSC, put in appropriate sections of Odin and flash, if just one file, put in PDA section and flash.
