WakeUp on power connect - using HD2 as car navi - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I would like to use my HD2 as car navigation only.
I was looking for app to wake up device on power connect. Maybe someone found something similar ? Or maybe there is some custom rom or app which will change my HD2 in cool car navigation
Thanks in advance.
Mariusz.

How about running magldr? Phones with magldr inatalled cannot charge when off, so magldr wakes it up when power is detected.
(Course, it would mean running android/wp7,)

on the rom in my signature my hd2 does wake up when power usb or charger usb connected.

@samsamuel: Unfortunately I need WM 6.5.
@Mister B: On stock rom WM wakes up only when it is connected to PC. When it is plug in to charger nothing happend ( except red light notification ). It's seems that I need to flash with something else than stock rom

On my custom rom 23699 it wakes up on any charger I used too.
Also take a look at mortscript thread as a few scripts were made purely for navigation related use making it rotate display & launch nav app ect when connected in car ect.

Possible solution for "Wake up from Standby" problem

Searching through the Internet for the possible solution regarding "Wake Up from Standby" problem i came across this Article.
The suggested solution for users facing this problem was to deselect the "Auto Adjust Backlight" option from the Power settings menu.
The suggested solution for Kitchen Chefs was to use another Power Application in their Kitchen.
I think that this could be useful for all of us.
for the wake issue, try this it should work :
1) take the flesh.bin, the ACER_EUU and the extrom.bin, from arto's rom,
2) then take the original acer 3.003c and extract the .exe file in a folder with winrar or sevenzip
3) dump the .amf file from it with the toolbyamper
4) now delete from the original acer rom those files: flesh.bin, extrom.bin, ACER_EUU, toolbyamper and the .amf file
5) put the flesh.bin, extrom and ACER_EUU that you take from arto's rom and put it in the acer v3 folder...
here you go !
jeje too complicated this last solution...
i tried solution mentioned by brianmaster and it works...

How to make what the device with SRS WOW HD 1.5.1.0 woke up?
How it has made Arto in the rom?
I wish to instal RU rom, but srs hd wow only on Arto rom works without a dream!
Sorry my bad English
You must uninstall SRS WOW HD 1.5.1.0, this driver is only for HTC
So on Arto rom works srs wow hd! Also does not sleep!
I even took srs wow hd from Arto rom, all the same on others rom does not work!
SRS WOW HD works only on Sense ROMs like Arto's.
right now use Arto rom, but it would be desirable to put RU rom and to fasten srs wow hd, but ways I so understand was not present (

I think that the wake up issue is caused by a conflict between windows and acer relating to the < End Key > fuction.
I've tried this for a day and it works for me:
Of corse uncheck < Auto adjust backlight by battery level>!
preferences-phone-check wake up from sleep
preferences-End Key-choose lock and suspend( hold to suspend)
Settings-System-backlight-battery tab-check both boxes
Settings-System-backlight-external power tab-check both boxes
Settings-personal-buttons-button 2 choose <Today >from menu on the bootom
TO WAKE UP PHONE: PRESS ( < ) button at bottom of device.
This W\Official acer ROM( don't know about settings in cooked ROM)
Also:< SRS-WOW HD> works beatifully on stock Rom
1.Installed SDK certs., .net config.3.5 Then:
2.Install SRS-WOW HD to device ( afer installation finishes *SOFT RESET*)
3.after reset go to settings-Sys-srs wow icon open and make personal adjustments.
Hoping this works for all!
arghh !! I'm still having wake up issue either I'm using v3 flashing tools...damm !!! I have this !
I've went back to Arto's ROM wich hasn't got the wake up issue. But when i used active sync it did again. I disabeld the active sync and then I was perfect again.
So maybe active sync has something to do with it to?

Did you had some issues with my Modular ROM? If you share it with me, maybe i can make improvements.
Yes, I've treid your modules Rom and really loved it. Unfortunatly I had the wake up issue (i reported it in your tread and you also fixed me a cab for dutch language realley fast
In arto's ROM I don't have the problem unless active sync is on push (or other polling, haven 't tried) no mather wat setting I use for backlight or wake up when a hardkey is pressed.
I think you have to contact Arto because he problely has the solution (since his Roms don't have it......

Well, i am using the Geek Rom since i cooked it, and don´t have any wake up issues.
That is strange then...... Maybe I'll flash your rom again sometime but i'm pretty satisfied with arto's rom so far.
I'll let you know by time

No problem. Arto also makes very good ROMs.
3.003 drivers were supposed to fix the wakeup problem, but it seems there are certain options/customizations that still can create the wakeup problem.
For example, I have had wake up issues on all the ROMs I've tried (Rafyvitto's, Arto's and UFE's).
I have disabled backlight based on light levels and the problem occurs much less often. Currently trying the extended version posted a little earlier (using Acer Preferences, so any key can wakeup from standby, etc.)
I do use activesync to sync with my computer; I do download push mail (from gmail); I do use swype; I automatically download weather info - on any ROM I use... so it is possible that either of these is the culprit...

In two weeks i didn't have one wake up issue with my ROM.
Autobacklight is on, i don't use the end call button for sleep mode. I just press the power button and S2U2 locks the device.
And i deativated the option to turn the backlight of if the device is not used for 30 seconds.
Possible reason for wake up problem
I am nearly sure that wake up issue occurs when i change something in windows folder. Especially when i change lockscreen, use some programs related to device lock and change start menu icons etc., wake up problem occurs every time regardless of rom (i have used nearly all custom roms)
Hello,
the last 2 times that i had this wakeup issue, the story was the following:
-i received a text
-i went in my incoming box and looked for the message
- next i closed the incoming box by pressing the end key
- screen turned off 1 minute later
and so no way to wakeup my phone !!
Hope it could help, bye.

[Q] Android with the camera build 2.2 led blinking

Install of the rom went great with the camera but I'm having dpad issues. The light on the center pad keeps blinking after the phone is put into sleep mode by turning off the screen. Their used to be a setting to turn of light notification (their isn't any). Any help would be great.
thanks

I have the update but the constant blinking of the led drains my battery. Is their any way to turn it off or is it a built issue.
That's the way I turn mine off. Perhaps it acts differently with different versions of RAPH?
one other quick question. I noticed the clock is running slow. Losing about ten minutes every few days. Is this a known issue or do I have to add/update something. Restarting the devices to update clock. I do have the data turned off to data battery life.
thanks for your time.
(I think) It is a known issue but don't hold me to it as I usually run data 24/7... Also, I don't run Android constantly as I need my calls to go through and Android is still not quite "there" yet (IMHO)

disabeling Battery

does anybody know how to disable the battery on my Archos A101 - I am running the device alway connected to the powersupply - when i switch of power i want the device to switch of - i cannot use tasker because i need this when the device OS crashed - in that case no application is running so i want to kill it by switching of the power -
maybe it is hard to understand what i mean - but maybe someone can help me ;-)

VZW version observations

If I try to charge the phone using any one of the myriad of USB cables and wall plugs I have laying around, the G2 goes into "Slow Charging" mode. When I use the cord and plug that came with the phone it charges like it's evidently supposed to. The USB cable is bigger around than my other cable too.
Kinda disappointed that the transparent selection for the on-screen buttons is literally for the buttons and not the background of the buttons which would actually be helpful.
I like having a tabs version of the menu screen option. I got used to the way the S4 menu layout is and the tabs version on the G2 is similar to that. You can toggle back and forth.
Being able to select which toggles are available on the drop down status screen is cool and easy to use.
In terms of the charging.
Most phone chargers that aren't specifically for tablets, or newer phones, are 1A chargers.
The one that comes with the phone is a 1.8A charger.
That being said, I have also noticed that any previous CABLE I have tried, including ones that are for a Nexus 7 or 10 tablet, even when plugged into the OEM charger, say "slow charging mode"
The funny thing is, if I use the OEM cable and plug it into any charger I have, ranging from .5A, to .75A, and 1A, it doesn't say "slow charging mode" even though, technically, it is.

Samsung phones often trigger different modes by putting resisters of different sizes between the pins in the cables. Not sure if that is the case here, but it could be that the cables need to be specially modified for fast charging mode.

I've noticed that when installing the united drivers every time i plug the phone into the computer it loads up backup assistant and then about 30 seconds later the phone is viewable in explorer.
Yes, the transparency for the nav buttons is not really transparent. Can't wait till this gets rooted and unlocked as this phone is going to be awesome with AOSP.

I hope it happens, root is pretty much assured but unlocked bootloader and AOSP aren't, the US versions of the Options G lash their international variant, done even have official Cyanogenmod, which I hope we get.
Overall thumbs up or keep looking?
So it sounds like purchasing a second OEM wall charger should be a priority, one for home and one for work. I could just use the OEM at work and slow charge overnight with my legacy wall chargers.
How about mobile chargers? I just purchased a moto mobile for my GNex, don't feel like dropping more ca$h on a new one.
My local VZW store doesn't have any in stock so I may purchase online just to make sure I keep my unlimited data. Sucks that it won't get here until next week.

:good:
The double tap to wake is pure genius. I kept flipping the phone over to wake the device.
Wireless charging is good to on the Nokia DT-900
Invert colors is kinda cool. Although it inverts everything. Settings> Accessibility
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
The slow charging was a downside that I realized today, as I tried it on the same charger as my Note 2 and it was in slow charging mode. This caused me to have some doubts about charging it in the car without buying a charger from them, hoping a generic USB cable will work.
Overall though I love the phone! I think it's great that the Verizon version has wireless charging.
Double tap to put it to sleep only works on the stock launcher for me. Apex and Nova both override the knock knock.
Knock, Knock to wake works on Nova and double tapping the notification bar will make the phone sleep on Nova as well.
I asked this earlier in the general from and got this reply:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441027
fix for the "knock, knock" to sleep.
From Verizon's description page (look under Specs/Web [stupid place for it]):
Micro USB 3.0 high–speed charging
So "Slow Charging" would be just like when you were charging your Note or older device. Which is why it is called slow.
Couple things I have noticed so far....
1) the settings screen can change to tabs if you hit the on screen menu button at the bottom.
2) copying mkv files from win8 always crashes something, had to use airdroid
3) you can get rid of the qslide by editting the quick settings, showing the qslide button then tapping it, then remove it.
4) the gps icon seems to always show, no matter what i do.
5) long pressing the home button brings up the task manager

I try to stay away from USB transfer nowadays for devices without an SD card. Go download FTP Server from the Play Store, then FileZilla (or some other FTP client) for your PC and transfer that way. A LOT faster than using the USB Media connection. Both phone and pc must be on the same network.

Could you explain #3 more? I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying we can remove the qslide shortcuts from the notification shade? If so, how?

The quick buttons above the qslide, if you swipe it all the way to the right is an edit. Go in there and check qslide. Then come out, disable the qslide button, then just go back into the edit for the quick buttons and remove the qslide from there too.

ohhh gotcha!!! Thanks!!
I wish they would have just kept the standard 4.2.2 notification shade! Actually, I just realized that the notification shade is more ICS than JB. That's disappointing! Just noticed that!

Palm PVG100 Screen Wake On Plug & Fully Charged

I'm close to having the phone perfect but these two still persist. There is a myriad of old options for Xposed and I was wondering if anyone has had success with any of them? I use the phone for a GPS unit on a cycle with a dynamo hub, so the waking up is annoying.
I've sorted the sound already, so there are two wake up conditions:-
1. power is enabled
2. battery reaches 100%.
Cheers, Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I can't help with Xposed, but I have a suggestion and a side question.
My suggestion : try IpBike (with IpBikeKey to unlock it).
The author of IpBike reads and answers e-mails. He is opened to new features if the idea is good.
If IpBike can't force the screen off (I never tested, as I don't charge my device as I cycle !), he may add the feature.
My question : is the PVG100 ANT+ capable ?
I use a Sony-Ericsson Xperia Active as a cycle computer (powered by IpBike), with ANT+ Speed, Cadence and Heart-rate sensors.
I would like to replace it with a PVG100E/EU, but the ANT directory does not list any Palm device.
Have a nice day !
Cobus.
Probably not, ANT is an extra cost for a manufacturer.
I found an open-source app which works. It's a bit old but still it does the job.
Basically it registers itself as an admin app so it can control the screen, then when a wakeup comes in it turns the screen back off. It's quick enough that the screen doesn't get a chance to come on. No root required.

Have you tried enabling "zen mode?" Zen mode keeps everything on the phone from waking I believe. I have tried it, but got annoyed when the wifi would cut out once I turned my screen off, because it would stop what I was listening to. Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but zen mode might be something to play around with.
To activate zen mode, the easiest way is probably through the app "setedit." Under "system" options, scroll to the bottom and change zen mode from 0 to 1.
