Hello,
I live in the Netherlands and I bought a Sony Xperia U from a store. It sold me a Sony Xperia U from Italy with TIM branded.
Software version .564
I downloaded flashtools and the 564 stockrom, but when I try to flash it, I get an error.

Do I need to unlock bootloader or something else??
Sorry if this question has been asked before, couldn't find it..
U need to unlock the bootloader before u want to flash manually. U can always relock it afterwards =)
If you're flashing the stock ftf, you need not unlock the BL.

After changing the theme, i cannot find my sim card and the baseband says unknown. HELP PLEASE!
I think it needs to find the sim card for it to read the baseband, which rom are you using ?
Did you have the appropriate baseband for the rom you installed ?
Same here!
I get the same error. Says Baseband Unknown. No service on lock screen. When I go to search network operators it gives me "Error while searching for networks".
I flashed the 435 x10i baseband .54, but the problem persists. It says my phone is x10a!
I don't know what to do.
Example.. you have some ROM on .49 baseband.. you flash .52 idk. for 2.3.3 by J
Use xrec to install 2.3.3 and you'll get Service and baseband.
HELP!!
I flashed the phone with 0.2.6 Flash Tool, and 2.1.54 (X10i) Baseband. The phone was already rooted.

Info about my phone:
Model Number: X10i
Firmware version: 2.1 update1
Baseband version: 2.1.54
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Build number: 2.1.A.0.435
The Rom works, but the it cannot find the sim card and baseband turns to "UNKNOWN"
How do I fix this problem? All I want is a black theme. HELP PLEASE!
Sorry for bringing up this thread I might have the same issue as well..
Wanted to use kx10 CM6.1.1 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055609
So I reflashed 2.1.A.0.435 and then flashed baseband .52.
I kept getting 'Unknown Baseband' and also keeps asking to insert SIM Card..
Tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12131561&postcount=1
But doesn't work, maybe someone can reelaborate the procedure here..
same to me. I change BB from 54 to 52. but show unkown
It seems that after I flashed the custom ROM problem solved, maybe it won't work on official firmware, you have to flash custom ROM.
same problem with me . please help me out

Have the x10a myself and I purposely left sim card out and it has always reported baseband and other info till now. (because I installed a custom rom and it somehow erased my contacts even from the sim?!? perhaps my imagination or a incorrect sync?) I wanted to use a custom zkernel, so I had to reflash baseband from 2.1.54 to 2.0.54. After the downgrade of baseband it reports unkown, but all other info is reported. All features are working gps, wifi, camera, radio and so on. I just find it agitating is all. I did however uncheck the "wipe user data" in the flashtool. I suspect it is because I have always flashed basebands in the same minor release range, eg: 2.0xx ->2.0xx and 2.1.xx -> 2.1.xx This may or may not help....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119508
by "wolf" stated on the troubleshooting options that the system server needs to be crashed and or the baseband reinstalled. I have crashed the server part and same unkown, now it has helped before when I wasnt able to get the radio working. I am going to try reinstalling the baseband and see what happens. Since I am using the wolfbreak rom.
Tried reflashing baseband and it didnt work. I did note however with the baseband flashtool "comments/branding" that it is changebaseband and not baseband or repairbaseband. I will post this where I got the kernel, since that is after all where the issue for me started.
new solution
i got the exact same problem now, since this thread is started long ago, is there any solutions yet? , it would help. i will try so that someone could suggest a solution.
edit: i found the solution - download the signal-fix.zip (to fix UnknownBB) and flash it with xRecoovery. Works for all x10 of all FW and Kernel.
Opps..............

Hello,
Im searching the original stock rom 4.0.A.2.377 for mini ST15i. I always found here the stock rom for SK17i.
I need the kernel.sin from the 377 to relock the ST15i and update to 2.3.4
Did anybody have a link where I can download the stock 377 or a link for download the kernel.sin from 377 - ST15i?
Thanks in advance
My Mini is rooted. I know the steps but I need the 377 Kernel to relock it befor flashing new firmware. On wotanserver the 377 firmware is available but there is no download option...?

Hi,I want to flash my Stock belguim firmware and i found one (ICS) but in flashtool is seems so different?
Can I just flash it while userdata.sin is selected in the second row and not system.sin?µ
--> I will add 2 screenshots
Thank you
I am thinking about rooting my Xperia P, but firstly I made a backup ftf from PCC using flashtool (I have non branded stock ROM 1.54).
Then I downloaded stock ROM 1.54 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020778, unpack both ROMs and use WinMerge to compare them. I expected that all sin files are the same. And they were, except loader.sin. And now my questios is: why loader.sin is different? My XP has locked bootloader.
I downloaded also kernel 1.54 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900172 and compared with my ftf with the same result - loader.sin is different (but kernel.sin is the same).
Ok so I convinced myself that when I got this phone (which is pretty much new) I would not bother rooting and unlocking bootloader etc.
Well I am absolutely fed up with the ads popping up everywhere and so I want to root to get Adaway back (I have it on my Nexus 7 tablet and no ads is a must!) :silly:
so please, what is currently the best and safest way to root? I know it would void the warranty but if I can at least revert it to stock and get the warranty back should anything happen then I would prefer this.
I was reading a few posts that say to root, you need to unlock the bootloader but doing so removes drm keys or something meaning it cannot be restored to complete stock?
Phone is:
Xperia Z2 Black
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband Version: 8974-xxxxxxxxx-00027-12
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-perf-gd4d661a
Build Number: 23.0.1.A.0.167
Thanks for your help

Backup data
Downgrade to 4.4.2
Root
Install recovery
Flash rooted 4.4.4 zip in recovery
Restore data
You will still have locked bootloader
You will still have warranty
You will still have the ability to return phone to 100% stock state

So I need to install the Android SDK and use Flashtool to backup and flash 4.4.2 rom? Also when you say back up data do you mean my music and pics etc, or actually backup the stock rom?

When I say backup I really mean messages and call log. Anything on the phones internal memory that you want to keep. I think I used sms backup +.
And yea flash a 4.4.2 firmware via flashtool.

Those are the customisation numbers of the ROM. Some roms have different (more or less) stock apps or modified icon. An unbranded rom wouldn't have branded apps like vodaphone app or telstra app

Sorry for been a pain again
I just setup the android-sdk, adb and fastboot (just rerooted my Xperia S so I know everything is setup ok),
I just want to double check first (better safe than sorry!) before messing around with the Z2:
1. Is there a way of backing up the stock rom and kernel before downgrading to 4.4.2, or do you need root/unlock bootloader to backup?
2. To downgrade to 4.4.2 rom do I just use this command:
fastboot flash boot D6503_17.1.2.A.0.314_3UK.ftf

You use flashtool to flash a FTF file
Fastboot is used for flashing IMGs and elf files
Thanks, its been a while doing all this stuff so I just need to be certain.
So I dont need to do anything like unlock bootloader before flashing that downgrade rom?
The post i linked to has good instructions I have been following, so I downloaded stock 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 rom, later I will try flashing. I also learned from reading in that thread what all the numbers mean, so in my service menu i was looking at it My bootloader can also be unlocked
I just want to make sure I do everything right as with my Xperia S and Nexus 7 2013 I rushed into it without backing the roms up, I never bricked the devices but still you do worry especially with expensive phone like Z2
