How to save orgenaized pages before installing a new rom - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys,
is there a way i can save the current pages (the folders and stuff) so after i install a new rom i can restore the settings and all my pages will be organized just like before?
I saw that i can restore the data from a previous nandroid backup but that will also restore other system apps and settings which might cause problems right?

are you talking about launcher home pages? If so then use a third party launcher like nova as they generally have a backup facility for layout and widgets and folders

I see you did not say .
Wipe phone flash new rom .
CWM Nandroid backup restore DATA only will return the apps folders layout etc .
But their is no real way of knowing if any of the apps or settings you have restored on to new firmware are 100% compatible with the new firmware .
More likely to be ok if not jumping OS to a latter version like ICS to JB .

Screenshots
I am sorry my man, but screenshots are your best bet!
I would say move them to your external SD Card as sometimes the internal SD Card is wiped! (made that mistake once!)
Hope this helps!

I don't think you should be messing with gapps... others like the file manager, launcher pro (free) titanium backup (free) etc (if you have alternatives or the paid versions, or i would suggest you leave them as is, as they are very useful apps )can be removed safely...
I have removed
-Car home
-Launcher pro
-Titanium Backup
-File manager (using ghost commander)
other apps i've left them
Do a backup with xrec with the default settings and try removing various apps and test for yourself, if anything goes wrong you can always recover the backed up version

I just think he wants to do a full install and remove the unused apps... maybe he uses market and nothing else (navigation, street view, places etc) so he wants to know if the phone will be stable after removing those apps... so let's stick to advising him on what to remove...

if don`t really need them delete through tatanium backup.
make a backup first...delete one by one...play a little and see if everything works.
if it does...proceed if not...recover it

[Q] Custom ROMs & pre-installed apps

I've just got a Samsung Galaxy S II and am very excited! It's got Navigon pre-installed. I'm coming from a Samsung Nexus S which I installed various custom ROMs on and would like to install custom ROMs on my new Galaxy S II. Is it possible to install a custom ROM and somehow not lose the pre-installed apps like Navigon?
Back the apk's up with titanium backup / root explorer, good luck.

Titanium will backup system apps as well as ones you've installed yourself. You don't have to worry about it.

Some rom will be no-wiped option. So, you can flash the rom and everything will be there.
But for me, clean install might be better.
Good luck on choosing rom

if u go thro that Spread sheet link above u can see which all apps are safe to remove, then u can go ahead and delete them directly from system>app folder usin any filemanager
As sun60 said.
Also you can try titanium backup app. There find the system app and tap on it and select uninstall. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup

Check with the theme maker, you may have to reflash your rom if you didn't make a nandriod first.

Best way to backup/restore apps for changing ROM

Hi there,
last time I used Titanium Backup for backuping up and restore all apps for changing the rom on my smartphone I got the error, that for some apps the notification was not working correctly.
As I read in the forum it was caused by restoring the apps via Titanium Backup
So, my question is:
Whats the best way to backup and restore all apps, so they can directly work on after changing a rom (with clean flashing).
Thanks for your help,
Shadow128
