Hello.
There are Sense 4.1 OTA for One S Ville...S4 cpu.
How do you guys think C2 will get 4.0.4 Sense 4.1?
I hope we will get android 4.0.4 and later 4.1. It's quite real, but I think no Sense 4.x. Maybe something like sense 3.5/3.6.
BTW how about your porting work?

Started porting again. Will make from newest Ville C2 Europe RUU.
Lost all previous work and I was busy these 2 weeks and still will be busy for some time but it's going forward.
I have never ported something so it's slower. ;/

Hello - I have a question - will we ever get a official sense 4.0 via ota or ruu on our evo 3d (gsm) ?
btw.... heard a few rumors about android 5... same question as above
No and most likely no.
HTC has already confirmed that all current phones that are going to receive ICS, like our EVOs, are going to get Sense 3.6, not 4.0. Although I could definitely see a port over if the developers can do something about it.
Evo3D.
No.
Next!

Hi, I just wonder how long it takes to port sense 4.0 to android 4.0 after android 4.0 released oficially for evo 3d. As we know ics update will come to evo 3d gsm with sense 3.6. But i like sense 4.0 more than 3.6...
Now i don't want to port ics roms because they don't support 3D and some minor things...
It's very much a science. Lots of research, development and a ton of trial and error goes into it.
An estimate is tough
I would say it's in the ballpark of 1 to 60 days though.

It seems to easy to us but i know developers work for hours, days and weeks... Virtuous team started to port sense 4.0 to htc one's android 4.0. It is really bad to wait oficial ics; and it is worse to wait sense 4.0 with ics than waiting oficial ics
Given that HTC have access to android source, sense source, and drivers for the kernel they should be able to get a working rom in a week or less. Sense only slows down the release of updates as they then have to go and debug the problems sense caused.
/edit They = HTC, They have no reason to update a phone once released thus will put it on the back burner and and take as long as they want to release stuff like android 4.0 because people will buy a new phone.

Who are you talking about? If i understood corectly what you said, sense 4.0 based ics rom will be ready in a few days... Do you mean this? If yes, will 3d work on that rom? I really suprised to hear what you said
They = HTC
That said, I doubt HTC really gives a **** about updating an already released phone, it does nothing for them as they can just release a new phone and people will buy that.

I'm wondering when will people stop believing this myth. Sure, Sense might add a short additional time to the development, but rewriting source code, that was build for completely different device is what is taking most of the development time. Not to mention to properly implement new drivers.
Can you stop with that custom UI delay bull****, will ya?

Totally agree.. Samsung fixes issues by releasing a new phone.. my opinion is that Samsung wastes too much resources doing so and they still have issues cuz they don't take their time on handsets

Sure, as soon as HTC stops using it as the reason when asked.
most of the bugs will probably be worked out on the Sensation anyway
so just the camera and graphics stuff to work on

Probably but there's no guaranty. Best option I can think of right now is maybe including sense 3.6 camera and gallery to sense 4.0 ports. To be honest, noone can know for sure because ICS for E3D hasn't been released yet so it's foolish to speculate anyway.

I dunno what makes camera work. Android or sense? If the answer is android, we should have a working camera when ics for shooter released. If it is sense, maybe htc one's sense codes aren't fully suitable with evo 3d so it will take more time to have working camera with ics with sense 4

The system dump for Android 4.1 has been pulled from the GSM Galaxy Nexus update, and ready for developers to get their talented little hands on.

it's a DUMP of a System Image. You can call it backup.
It's for the Galaxy Nexus and could be ported to our device.

You guys simply wait for Jean Baptiste Queru and the team around him to get JB merged to AOSP. Afterwards CM will merge and adopt it and y'all should be able to get a compiled (non-ported) JB onto your Evo3d as long as agrabren continues work on CM9 for evo3d. Porting at the actual state of aosp ics on evo3d makes no sense for me.

+1. A SDK port may be able to boot, but it will be really bugged and unstable. A source build is the real deal.

Thanks, me and helicopter88 will probably be working together on this one. I tried earlier but had issues with the kernel
I think that it's better to wait for the source code to drop (mid july),so we'd have cleaner & faster builds with much more working, but if i find enough free time I'll help Ubuntuz getting jb to work
I think that it's better to work on Android 4.0.4
Stability improvements
Better camera performance
Smoother screen rotation
Improved phone number recognition

Agreed, since jelly bean is just a revision of ICS I think its important to get everything stable on 4.0.4. From there jelly bean should come pretty fast, once the source it released

Just wanted to know if this is a possiblity for our phones, i know that the 3D will probably not work, but is it possible to have a working port of sense 4.5 with JB on the EVO3D.
Is there any change between 4.1 and 4.5 aswell (except for project butter the JB brings)

I thought 4.0 was ICS builds, and 4.1 was JB (aka with the project butter) - 4.5 I am not sure what the difference is

Short answer. Yes. When a phone like the ville or c2 that have a screen resolution like our phone had one it will be possible. Probably not until then
Sense 4.0 and 4.1 = ICS
Sense 4.5 = JB(I think, not sure)

Sense 3.6 is on 4.0.3 which is an ICS build
Sense 4.0 is also on 4.0.3 ICS
Sense 4.1 is on 4.0.4 ICS
Sense 4.5 which was started rolling out to some phones is on 4.1.1 JB
There ya go.
Viper3D and the other Sense 4.1 ROMs out are mostly based on the Ville_C2 or Ville, which has the same screen size and processor as our phone. Like I said earlier, if those models get a JB build, then a port would be easier.
Update: I did some searching and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043386
Released today it is a JB Sense ROM for Ville+ I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before someone picks up on porting it
I have an Evo 3D GSM, and after miserably and uncountably trying to s-off it on custom roms (ruu always gives me errors when I try to install it, even though i relocked the bootloader...), i have given up the idea of s-off... Maybe i just cannot do it on 1.53.0007.
Fact is, due to s-on, i seem to be limited to ics roms. All jb roms i have tried kept restarting the phone at bootanimation, and some people have said thay is because on my bootloader has problems with non sense roms. I also kind of like sense compared to aosp, so my question is: why isnt anyone porting a jb rom with sense? Why only aosp, aokp, paranoid, etc?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using XDA Premium HD app
Because it has to be ported from one s (ville) C2 (if you didn't know, the one s came out in two versions: the one with 1.5 Ghz snapdragon S4 processor and the one with 1.7 Ghz snapdragon s3 processor. this last one is the C2 version) because this specific version has got the same "processor family" of our evo 3D. The big problem is that lastest roms with jelly bean with sense 4+, as far as I know, are not available at the moment because htc encrypted RUUs (fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu). So, we hope that someone will decrypt them as soon as possible...
Hmm, now I get the lack of jb sense. Thanks man
