Best ROM posts are not allowed on xda.
read through the OP of ROM threads and make your decision.
If you want stability than use touchwiz based ROMs.
I have said too much already.......

Should i install rom?

Hello, ive just ordered a samsung galaxy s2 today and it will arrive in 3days time and im just wondering whether i should automatically install a rom on it or just use the stock rom for a while? I'm experienced with rom flashing but i just used htc hd2 which seems rather easy. So i would like some opinions please
Thanks a lot in advance! I'm so excited
If you like to have a Custom ROM then go for it. There is no should in that, but you could if you like.

Great rom and highly customizable.

[Q] New to SGSII..

Hi everybody, I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy 3 (or Apollo). I've done the whole flashing/rooting thing from the SG3 forums and I've been reading most of the developer forums on here to figure out which rom would be the most stable with the best features but I can't really make my mind up
So here's my question...Which rom/kernal combination do you think is best?
Best / worst depends on personal choice. You can always flash it use it and if you dont like it
Remember the read the ROM thread thoroughly on the steps to flash and remember to take backups
BTW I am on Leomar's Revolution . Been having it for more than a week now. I like it.
You could read the answers on all the exact same posts which rom is best .
Or just start with one you like and can work out how to install.

You know what you really need to do is do the research yourself, post in the correct section for a question and basically decide what you want from the Rom.
In my opinion for speed you should go for one of the cm Roms although on latest jelly bean versions there is no official support from Samsung so the Rom lack in features you get from a Samsung Rom.
You can safely download and enjoy roms from all the big names in outer forum, they are all slightly different, be it aesthetically or through their features. Try the original section as a starting point, do some reading, some flashing and trying of differ things and make your own mind up on what you like.

Just try the ROMs yourself, pretty simple/basic and much easier than creating a thread and waiting for enough responses to matter
DO NOT POST A "What's the best ROM/Kernel/Theme?" THREAD!

[Q] Looking for help with roms.

Hello there,
I am new to the S2 phone (I will get one at the end of the month from a friend).
I see that there are lots of roms and kernels.
Now what I am searching for is:
Super optimized rom like Tigrouzens rom for Samsung Wave 1 and 2.
Also kernel super optimized.
With other words. a really fast rom (I don't want outdated roms).
Preffered android version:
4.3.X Jelly Bean / 4.4 Kitkat
Also, I don't really know how to install those roms/kernels. So a simple tutorial should do it. Because I once flashed one through odin from pc and not through recovery.
Greetings,
GreekBlood
Go to the development sections (Android Development & Original Android Development), read some threads, try out some roms to find one that suits your needs. Instructions for flashing roms are always on the first page devoted to the rom & always very clear.
Rom recommendations are forbidden here because they're so subjective, mods will close the thread if you insist on asking for them (this is XDA after all, if you're here, it's assumed you like flashing stuff to your phone).

And the best ROM is................................................................. LOL
I predict thread soon to be closed (i am psychic haha)
Oh, sorry.
But it is a bit of a mess here. So many roms, so many kernels.
I'm coming from wave 1 where we have 2 roms and 2 kernels.
Being a newbie, i being in you shoes a few days ago would advice you to start with understanding the fundamentals og flashing and use of the various recoveries out there. You say its a mess because you see so many roms and kernels and you dont know where to begin. Pick one and start and with time you will catch up with the rest. Good luck...modding and customizing android is like a rabbit whole...no end...

Reading the first page & last 10 pages of any rom/kernel thread will give you a couple of things:-
*Instructions how to flash & features
*Some idea of how users are finding the most recent build/any issues
That's a good place to start.
Some people treat this place like a macdonalds drive-thru.

[Q] Slow Xperia U, considering rooting

Hi everybody,
first post of mine but i've had some good reads on this page
Anyhow, I got an Xperia U which is quite laggish in my opinion (messages load slowly, dialing a contact takes forever, Snapchat not as fast as i expected it...) I think you get my picture
Now I was considering rooting my phone and placing a Custom Rom on it which would work more efficient with the resources at hand. Now my question to you guys is what Rom do you recommend me and how would I be able to install it.
For now my eye has fallen on the ZPerience Rom. But not sure if it's a good one.
Thanks for the help guys

First post and a hell load of mistakes made.
There's a billion guides out there on how to install a ROM. I believe there will certainly be guides in the general section for your device. Otherwise there are plenty of noob friendly guides all over the forum.
Secondly there is no best or recommended ROM, comparing ROMs is seen as a sign of disrespect to developers and a particular ROM experience is highly subjective since every user has different expectations and ways of using the phone.
Thirdly as for the ROM itself I strongly recommend unlocking your bootloader done on the official Sony site. You will lose warranty but you are able to flash custom kernels which come with recovery (purpose of this is explained in the guides) and allows you the freedom to choose any kernel you want. Nothing wrong with not installing but you will end up being able to only use ROMs based on stock firmware and are compatible with stock kernel, and if I remember correct the recovery gets wiped every time you install a new ROM.

I strongly agree with the person commented above on all aspects!
Get your bootloader unclocked but if you are not interested then "DISABLE APPS".
Settings-> app -> all.
Applications like facebook and other non usefull apps should be disabled. It will save your ram, hence smooth and bit lag free.
Coming on rom part, well whatever preference you may have regarding your needs go for it. Because every rom in its own way is important as developers work hard,
But before disabling apps(if you choose this option), do factory reset and then disable.
I hope this helped,
