I seem to have lost Power Saving mode after updating to ICS. Can anyone help or have any suggestions?
The power saver modes are hidden somewhere unreachable in ICS. This means you don't have access to them. I think in some custom Roms you can get them back, but I'm not sure.

I did install this App. It did not change any settings when my battery got low. Is there a way to enable the settings at a certain battery percentage?

ICS removed Power Savings, and this is true, the app allows you to changed power related settings but not when it will turn on or how to turn on 'power saving mode'

I noticed Leedroid Tweaks has a save power toggle in quick settings, but it's not automatic.
Also, I wonder if Tasker had the ability to activate power saver mode.

So if they removed the Power Savings option in ICS, is it just assumed that it's essentially obsolete as a whole?

What power saving utilities do y'all use for your wildfires? Unfortunately, toggle data hasn't been working with juice defender but other than that I'm using mainly that app to make my wildfire last longer! Also have y5 although it seems obsolete now with v3 of juice defender.
Really want toggle data, might even go back to froyo soon because of that

Do you mean turn 3G or mobile internet off? There's settings in CM7 to do that....
No I mean it used to toggle data off when screen is off and only turns on when screen is unlocked. I don't want to toggle it manually every time I turn the screen off.

Do you overclock your wildfire ?
You could try creating a serparate profile to lower CPU speed when screeen is turned off.
Or best way to save power, don't use it

There's an app by a dev here on XDA called SuperPower I think, it's also on the market. I don't use it anymore but I remember it could successfully toggle data according to screen state
Stock 3D, never rooted/flashed.
after ICS:
-power and volume button reset no longer works, have to pull battery
-pandora does not work at ALL on 3g, loading forever, works fine on WIFI/4G
-battery consumption has been horrid, maps bat usage was high, had to ENABLE latitude then SIGN OFF turning it off.. that has helped
-wifi power consumption much more than gingerbread
-enflick touch works intermittently on WIFI, could be touch issue not sure
Kind of wishing I was still on GB :/
To address each:
-Make sure fast boot is not selected in Settings.
-Known issue with the current Pandora. Download version 1.5.13 and it should work again.
-Maps eats my battery if I leave GPS on (available) all the time. Turning that off until needed helps.
-Not sure.
I do sometimes run GB ROMs instead of ICS because it can be not as good. You may think about rooting so that you can flash some of the better custom ROMs.
If you aren't rooted, do a factory reset. A lot of people have problems after updating OTA, especially with a big upgrade like this going from GB to ICS.

1) Fast boot is not enabled, still can't reboot with power button / vol buttons
2) where do i get 1.5.13? must disable auto-updates so it doesn't end up back @ 1.6?
3) what a pain disabling GPS entirely, any other work around?
I'm disappointed that you can't add wifi on/off and auto orientation in the status bar with the other useless quick settings.

If you have a rooted phone, leedroid tweaks allows u to pull down the status bar and have quick setting, wifi on/off, mobile on/off and more

I second the idea for factory wipe.
You could always root your phone and flash a ROM, but maybe you dont want to do that.

1. My phone does that too. If the ROM I'm running doesn't have a boot to recovery option, I have to shut down, pull battery, then press volume down and power.
2. I'm on my phone, but go through Q&A for the past month or so and look for Pandora not streaming over 3g (our search google). And auto update off.
3. If GPS is on, Maps will use it. I use Tasker to turn on GPS when I run Maps and shut it off when I'm done.

My ICS update went well. My EVO 3D is working better then GB. Im stock.
You know, in the Settings/Power you could set Economy/Power Saver mode. All that is gone in ICS. As if the battery life isnt already bad .... Any alternatives?
HTC hid them.
Try the free ap called hidden settings
good luck

Thanks man. Much appreciated. I think their so called reasons for hiding sound bullish. Confusing the end user? Really? If it confuses people that much, then dont go into the power saver menu...or get an iphone... :/ .......Right

You can also use Minimalistic Text to create a widget that links to the power saving settings. Unfortunately the settings don't work as my wifi would never turn back on after waking the phone, I had to constantly restart my wifi everytime I picked up the phone. And the settings there are minimal, not like before where you had more choices. I had to reverse all the settings then uninstalled the app, it never helped save any battery at all.

Those settings only take effect when the battery drops below some (unknown) per cent. At least, that is my understanding.
Yea, I don't see an area where I can set a percentage to which power saver options activate... What gives HTC? Stupid to get rid of that feature even if I never really needed to use it tell now.

Speaking of power saving, does anyone else notice that since ICS, the backlight does not return to normal brightness after exiting camera application? You have to turn the screen off via the top button then back on to return to normal brightness.

I find the low power warning comes when the battery drops to 14%
Supposedly this is when the hidden power saving settings get implemented.
Yes, it would be nice to be able to change the 14% to be some other value, perhaps 30%

Yeah, I had mine set to 20% before the update. This hidden menu doesnt even have the option to set exactly when the power saver settings kick in...........No....I will never move to iphone. Not in a million years. But come on Android, stop downgrading your OS for cripes sake..geeez
Whenever I try do enable either of those modes, it says, 'to enable blocking/power saving mode, enable at least one function'.
I can't get what features is it asking to enable?
Try activate it in setting. Maybe in the settings you didn't tick any options.

Power saving mode really defeats the purpose of having so much horsepower. Its a shame that without it 12 hours is the average battery longevity.

Go inside the Blocking mode.
YOu wouldn't have done any setting for it. i.e. there won't be anything to block.
Same with Power Saving. Tick atleast one of the 4 options, otherwise it won't activate.
Just updated to ICS and am wondering about the Power Efficiency setting in the drop-down menu. What does it do? Every time I toggle it on, leave the drop-down, and then come back, it toggles itself back off. I'm sure I am missing something obvious. Thanks in advance.

I emailed HTC about this. This was their response: "In regards to this, I'm going to get the power efficiency option reported. In the meanwhile, you can manually turn off the 4g and autosync options, which is what that function accomplishes."
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much!
Be careful what you wish for. This may be related to HTC's "smartsync," which will prevent you from receiving emails or data messages (e.g. Google Talk) messages at night. Google "smartsync disabler" for lots of info.

I'm actually having the same problem in reverse. Ever since Verizon (or HTC?) updated their OS 10 days ago, I can't get the power efficiency function to stay *off*. I toggle it off, leave the settings, and return to find it toggled back on.
This means I can't get G4 speed, either, so it's quite annoying. Anyone else having this problem with their HTC Thunderbolt now?
