Rezound (broken) and NEW uninstalled LCD for sale - HTC Rezound

I bought a broken Rezound with plans to fix it. The LCD didn't work, so I purchased a new one on eBay $35, when I got it apart I realized that the connector on the mainboard was broken and a new LCD isn't going to fix it. I would assume even the original LCD and digitizer are ok, but I can't guarantee that.
I've decided to sell the Rezound and screen for parts. The battery seems to be good, the LCD is BRAND NEW, phone is in good condition. I'll be keeping the Dre beets earbuds!
PM with offers or questions.
Thanks!

Any chance of a price for the digitizer itself? Bought mine with a hairline crack, 6 months ago, starting to wonder what a non cracked screen looks/feels like. Lemme know, thanks

Your best bet would be to take it apart and sell each piece individually because you can get more money for that

I have a Sprint EVO 4G that's in the same condition. I broke the LCD connector on the motherboard while trying to replace the screen. Not sure if the connector can be bought from Digikey or something...but I can't identify it.

[Q] DIY Digitizer Replacement?

Dropped my phone today and the glass is cracked. Other than the fact that there are superficial cracks, the display and touch screen functionality seem to still be perfect. I have a few questions on how to proceed:
1) From what I can see, the crack is in the DIGITIZER and not the SCREEN although it was my first instinct to call it the "screen." Is this correct?
2) I see a bunch of people on eBay and other sites selling replacement kits that come with the digitizer, tools, and adhesive. There is no way for me to tell if the digitizer is a cheap aftermarket product, or a genuine OEM replacement. Should I care, or will it work just as good as the original either way?
3) I see the DIY thread on how to replace the SCREEN, but could not find one specifically for the digitizer. If I follow the screen DIY, will I get sufficient access to the digitizer, to the point where all I have left to do is unplug and replace, or is there anything else I need to do?
4) If I do this myself, is there a chance that the touch screen functionality will not be as good as it was originally?
I have extensive experience in fixing many different types of electronic and mechanical devices, but have never worked on phones before.

If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
What I have heard on the evo4g is that the digitizer and lcd are glued together. It is enough of a pain in the ass to seperate them without damaging the lcd itself to be worth buying a lcd/digitizer that is already together and replacing the whole thing.
Now I said evo 4G. I would assume it is the exact same issue for the 3D.

From what I've gathered, it is glued together and they sell the adhesive. I don't feel like separating them and possibly doing a bad job of putting them back together. I've done that before with taillights (which didn't go too well) and I can't imagine doing it on a phone. Thanks for the input...I could only find 2 complete screen/digitizer combo for sale on eBay. Anyone know of a better source?

Yea I'd be really ****ty if that happened to me, especially considering the even the 3d still looks perfect behind the scratches...I guess I'm going to just buy the replacement screen+digitizer combo and do it myself...if I buy them already assembled it should be plug and play from what I have read.

Replacement LCD and glass

I just cracked my screen and HTC wants to charge me $230 to fix it. I can do the repair myself but can't find the parts. Anyone have any idea where to get these parts?

I just replaced a few 2 sets of these.
The digitizer can be purchased on the net but I received mine from ebay here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/220925620885?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
If this is what you cracked be careful removing as to not damage the LCD (Heat gun helps tremendously)
The LCD is tougher to find but you can get them on ebay here as well.
I purchased mine here took about 1.5 weeks to receive since not in the US.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260906551668?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 $82.00
It is also available in the states through this place.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PH-LCD-HT-2227-LCD-Display-Screen-HTC-Flyer-US-Seller-/170717545360?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bf8f0390 $119.99
I would borrow a good heat gun to separate the digitizer from the unit. You will not need to remove all parts on the rear of the unit. Back cover, battery, top main board, and unplug the digitizer and the LCD. The rest will be removed on the screen side. It is more difficult than standard units since they use a good adhesive to hold the screen. There are also some clear pieces than need to be saved as well. Both worked great but still you will have about a $150-170 invested. Since you can by a new unit on sale sometimes for around 230-240, I would weigh my options. If you are on Sprint, think will keep an account, they have it less than 200.00 with a contract. If it is only the digitizer, then by all means, fix it yourself. Things to think about.
WOW parts are almost as much as I paid for it....I'm just going to toss it and get the Transformer Prime
I would be interested in the unit if you want to sale it at a reasonableprice. Pm me. Thanks

What do you mean by that? Did you crack only the LCD display under the glass or did you crack the whole front part of the glass that goes over the LCD display?
If it is only the LCD screen UNDER the glass that is cracked, you can replace it yourself. http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-Screen-Display-Mobile-Replacement/dp/B0084C4O4Y
If you cracked the whole darn top part, then you are SOL, since there is no parts of this available yet.
Isn't this why we pay for TEP monthly?

The One X digitizer will not work as that screen has curved edges, whereas ours is flat throughout.
If you're already paying for insurance you should pay the deductible and trade it in. You'll spend money to get a replacement part anyway, plus your time and you might not be able to do it well or at all. You're actually getting the best deal since you've only spent one month's worth of TEP premiums.

I had to replace the digitizer on my Evo 3D. It also required removing the LCD. While it was cool to do and an awesome experience, IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!
The digitizer never quite sat right back in the phone right. 1" of the right side of the screen was not responsive. This was either a bad, cheap digitizer from eBay or I screwed something up. The only reason I did this was because I had three weeks to go before the Evo 4G LTE was coming out and Sprint wouldn't repair it. I also had a spare cheap Android phone I activated until the 4G LTE was released.
I found both of these companies will let you ship the phone to them and will repair the device professionally. Might want to look into it. I would use either if I did it again.
http://www.irepairfast.com/ doesn't list the Evo 4G LTE yet, but they do have a place you can ask about it. Since they repair the One X, it might be possible.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/repair-service.html seems to do this as well. The cost looks to be about $25.00 above the repair part costs (at least for the device in the linked page). They also don't mention the Evo 4G LTE, but I would contact them as well.
I would expect to spend about $100. That said, that is way cheaper than TEP or a new phone.
Good luck!
finding the part
Has anyone found anyone that actually stocks the digitizer for the EVO 4G LTE? I don't need the LCD, just the digitizer by itself. I found it on durapowerglobal.com, but they have it listed as Backordered and have told me they haven't got any yet and it will be "a while" before they have some in stock.
I wonder if it's just too early in the phone's lifecycle to be on the radar for some of these repair parts vendors. If enough of us start bugging them then maybe they'll work on getting stock sooner!! I already sent an inquiry to the irepairfast.com site to see if they had a time frame for availability.
Wont they replace a screen for like $35 at the Sprint repair shops?? And fyi I think your deductible would be $150 not $100. TEP increased their rates...
I tried to get Sprint to repair the screen on my Evo 3D. They flat out refuse unless you have TEP. Unfortunately.
I highly recommend you contact those repair companies and ask when they can fix it. One of the does custom jobs I think. An email to them can't hurt.

I shattered my screen yesterday, and when I went in to have them fix it, they turned me away, too.
They said it's "physical damage" and that they don't do those kinds of repairs. They told me they'd replace the phone for $150 (TEP), so I told them I'd do it myself. Now it looks like I'm stuck with a broken screen for a while....

I just received the part this week from durapowerglobal. It was back ordered for a few weeks, but they communicated with me during the wait and it looks like it's going to do the trick. I hope to take on the project tonight of replacing it. I hope this is a $30 fix and there are no surprises during or after the install!!!

Dropped mine on it's face a little over a week ago. Thank God I had TEP. Called, and only paid $100 and they sent me a brand new one overnight. The only problem I had was that it came brand new, but with all the new software updates, so I couldn't root it. But at least I'm not shaving my face with my phone while using it.

Here's what I can say about that. I took it to 3 different corporate stores in my area, and 2 third-party repair centers. None of them could even touch the phone in the condition mine was in (see above). Was forced to go through Asurion for a replacement, and for some reason only paid $100 for my deductible.

[Q] digitizer question

I cracked the digitizer on my phone, and I'm not quite sure what to do. I've replaced a digitizer before, but the screen was far less responsive, borderline unusable. I could get a new LCD panel, but for that price I might as well buy a new phone off of eBay(gnex around $325, rezound around $375). Opinions?
You can get the LCD and Digitizer for $50 shipped off of eBay... it's up to you whether or not that's worth it.

Really? When I replaced it before, LCD panels were around $150-200 (seven or eight months ago). I'm just afraid of it ending up unresponsive again.

I found this, it should be absurdly simple to replace. Not making fun of you or anything but you don't even have to glue it together

I ordered one just for the eventuality that I want to replace my screen. Right now it has a splotch under it (my dumb ass spilled rubbing alcohol on it) but I've been living with it.

No problem, hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your Thunderbolt for at least a little while longer
If you just need the digitizer, check this one: http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Verizon-T...sr=8-6&keywords=thunderbolt+lcd+and+digitizer $14.99. That's the same one I bought over a year ago, when I first bought my Bolt from a coworker after he dropped it and cracked the digitizer glass. Worked like a champ, no issues whatsoever.

Cracked my screen. Help?

I just dropped my phone yesterday and it cracked the glass. I'm super depressed because I've had a ton of phones and was proud that I've never cracked a screen before, but alas... I'm comfortable working on electronics, and I'm looking to tackle the screen replacement myself if possible.
My questions begin here. I've discovered the glass is fused to the LCD panel so that makes it difficult to replace. Is it worth replacing the glass and keeping the screen original? Are the LCD assemblies purchased on eBay as good as the HTC version? I see that most of the LCD screens on eBay don't have Verizon branding, that makes me think they aren't really OEM so I'm worried about buying one with red buttons and the screen being sucky.
Any advice would be much appreciated, anyone who's had any experience changing the LCD please chime in with your input!

Did you buy one that has the Verizon branding on it? I'm tempted to do it on my own, but if I do I'm also tempted to buy the LCD that has had the capacitive buttons changed to red. Those screens don't have that Verizon label though and that just makes me really nervous.
The other thing that's holding me back is that my phone is insured. If the cost to replace it is $100 or less it isn't worth buying a replacement LCD for $80 IMO. I need to head over to the Verizon Store for that answer though.

A dev over in the Rezound area decided to get a cheap China off brand digitizer for his Rezound replacement. It had faulty internals and hard bricked his phone. Sometimes that few extra dollars saves a big headache.
Also, for the record, it was his 17th time fixing that specific model of phone, so it wasn't an error on his part.

This.
It appears as though I will have to pay a $99 deductible to replace the phone. So it's not really worth spending the $80 on an OEM screen/glass assembly. I'm thinking about just waiting it out until the 28th to see if the Nexus 5 will support Verizon LTE. If it does then I'm totally buying one and that will render this phone moot. Thank you for all of your advice!
Sent from my Droid DNA
I believe its best to use your insurance rather than do it yourself because if you dive into your phone and break something else it you could void your warranty. And considering it is a $650 phone, i think its safer to use your insurance. BUT if you ship it off to places like MobileTechVideos, they place a new void sticker on it after they have reassembled it. I sent my phone there and I was pleased with my services.
Claim on the insurance is most likely what I'm going to do. After all that's what it's for! My hopes of a Verizon LTE Nexus 5 have been crushed it seems. Hopefully by year's end we will have Sense 5 coming to us OTA so I don't have to flash it. My old Droid Charge was easy to flash, this phone is more difficult it seems.
