Bricked for good? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi guys,
I have an XT910 GSM. It was 2.3.5 nonEFGIS, flashed on it some 2.3.5 EUretail, updated itself to 2.3.6. Wanted to flash some french (EFGIS) 2.3.6 hoping for ICS update but failed. Got at a stage where pressing the power key was taking me to a fastboot failed screen, but i was able to boot in normal mode with volume keys and selection. Some time later, the ICS update became available and updated it to 4.0.4. Never routed.
Having some more time and feeling ready to mess things up, i decided to take care of that boot failure.
Everything i tried got stuck on flashing "system". At some point couldn't boot in normal mode - there was the failed fastboot or the failed other modes and the battery was running out of juice. When battery low, i unwrapped the usb cord from my camera, opened up the phone and powered it. Still couldnt flash anything on it, every attempt failed at "system".
Finally, tried eternityprj_Flash*IT for the second or third time. As usual, it started with sending logo OK -> flashing logo -> INFOno such partition FAILED (remote: ). The rest of files flashed ok just like in previous attempts and when at "system", after about an hour or so it finally failed (too many connections or something) but the phone turned off - the fastboot info on the dispaly dissappeared. And it won't turn on - i double checked the power supply improvisation and it's ok. The only thing that moves on it is the notification LED which turn on with a white light when i connect the usb cable to the pc. I'm clueless now . Got any ideas?

Forgot to mention I tried to flash it with the unwrapped usb cable connected to the phone and the charger.

Update: when I connect the cable and the charger, he Motorola logo briefly shows up then it goes to the failure screen:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.6B
To return to normal mode first - press power key to power down.
Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
Battery low
Cannot Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system); Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version (CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
The thing is the phone is and was connected directly to the charger via the teared down usb cable; last night when i first tried it, the phone said battery ok - OK to Program even with the battery taken out completely.
I read about Bionics with this problem - bettery ok but it says low.
Any idea? Anyone?

Update 2: turned my stock power cord to a factory cable. Now it says:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.6B
To return to normal mode first - press power key to power down.
Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system); Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version (CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
RSD sees it as "Fastboot CDMA Spyder S" (probably at some point i wasn't paying attention and flashed CDMA ROM). Will now try to flash 673.94.324.XT910.MERetail.en.06.xml. tried before: SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot, SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-73_SPU-11-M1-2-ULB_1C.85P_0A.6B_DATDE_CFC_HWp2b_SIGNED, SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.2_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot, SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-3_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot, and several others.

Update 3:
673.94.324.XT910.MERetail.en.06 failed at 14/19, system_signed.
SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.2_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot is still flashing 1/10, cdt.bin signed and it started like half an hour ago.

So somehow i flashed CDMA software over a UMTS phone; RSD sees it as CDMA SPYDER S. Meanwhile it shows:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
0A.74
eMMC Info: Size 16G
To return to normal mode first - press power key to power down.
Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
and when i try to boot in any other mode it says:
Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.74
eMMC Info: Size 16G
To return to normal mode first - press power key to power down.
Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system); Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version (CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
Now I know what it is, but Google doesnt seem to be wiiling to show me what to do after flashing CDMA over UMTS.

Go here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php
And download:
SPDREM_U_01.6.7.2-180_SPU-19-TA-11.6_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip
Flash,and that's all.
EDIT:Sometimes RSD is showing CDMA RAZR while it is not, like mine,GSm Razr XT910 is shown up as an CDMA Unit.
Good luck

Thanks man, but I see both versions were links visisted by me and i tried to flash it; 11.2 fails at 6/10 flash system, and 11.6 flashes forever 1/10 - cdt.bin.
I'm downloading it right now again and i'll try again. Is it possible to fail 6 times and succeed the 7th?
RSD shows the phone as Fastboot CDMA_Spyder S and at device properties all the fields are N/A.

didn't mentioned that i've canceled the 11.6 you gave me at 1/10 cdt.bin every time i tried to flash, once after 2 hours of waiting it to write that file. Now I'm at work and i"ve let it do it's thing, let's see if 8 hours are enough

Update 4: tried to flash SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2-1-CEE_1C.91P_0A.6C_RTCEE_CFC_HWp2b_SIGNED. It says 5/20 reboot bootloader -> no arrival message notification; phone disconected.
The phone seems dead.

So when RSD tried to reboot the phone it wouldnt turn on with factory cable plugged in. No light on, no nothing. Any ideas?

I stumbled upon a reference to a certain elusive flash mode that made Droids uneligible for a certain repair product on sale. Didn't paid attention to it but now i can't find it anymore to do a research.
Since my phone seems dead (no response whatsoever, no LED light at all nomatter what) is it safe to assume there could be such a thing and should be researched? Because if the display was to blame - it shouldve been some LED activity, and if the battery wouldve failed it shouldve power on with the factory cable.

stop trying, and read this: did rsdlite always fail at the same phase?
or sometimes1/10 sometimes 5/10 etc?

Thanks man, but i think theres something else to be blaimed since at first it happened with eternityprj_Flash*IT. Of course, there was the white LED in that situation and now there's no LED at all. Any other thoughts?

did you try rsd with different usb cables?

Nope. I'll definitely will if i can get it to power up. But there was absolutely no problem with the cable before.

i had same problems with mine, one cable failed 4/10 and other cable failed around 6/10
i had to get a 3rd cable, 10cm long to make it work. the shorter the better.
is your phone out of battery? or did you cook it? how did it turn off last time?

I think it's safe to assume it is not out of battery and that the battery is not fried. I've been extra careful with ironing the connection and measured all improvisation for short circuits before plugging in. First it similarly failed at a reboot carried by eternityprj_Flash*IT (powered off, then wouldn't turn) while it was plugged in the wall charger via the bettery connectors and the flashing was made with the usb cable. There was no problem with the power supply, but it wouldnt turn on and kept on showing the white led when only on usb. No matter what i did, it wouldnt turn on. It finally powered on with the factory cable. And then at reboot carried by RSD died again. This time no LED, no nothing.

what happens when you take the battery out and plug the phone in with the usb connected to wall charger?

Nothing. It used to boot in flash mode and show battery ok, ok to program. I'm am work right now and i hope that till i get home, the phone would have had enoguh time to reconsider its position and power up one way or another. By the way, it was the same when it first died - it only powered up the next day with the factory cable.

{Q} Invalid flash mode (s) boot failure

Hello my friends...A friend of mine owner of a european razr got stuck at this death screen where nothing can happen. The phone actually doesn't open at all.It gets to this screen only when inserting the usb cable after showing the motorola logo. Even leaving it in the charger for hours still doesn't let it boot without the charger or the usb pc cable plugged in.
The only thing that I found out is that if I plug in the charger and at the same time press the vol up and vol down buttons then it goes to Boot mode selection with 7 selections available. But which ever I press the phone returns to the Invalid flash mode screen...
Any ideas?
PS: The phone was previously rooted.
Use SBF files on developer section to try recover the phone. To install it, use RSD Lite.
Good Luck.

[Q] Dead RAZR

Hey guys, I need some help I recently acquired a seemingly dead RAZR. When it was unboxed the phone would bootloop, according to the previous owner sometimes the phone would manage to start up but rarely. The previous owner did try to fix this bootloop but was unsuccessful (I do not know what he tried to do). I will try to explain my current situation as best I can and someone with more RAZR experience can give me help and get this phone up and running
When I connect the phone to my PC via 2 different USB cables (neither are the Motorola one that came with the phone) the notification comes on and is white. The phone will not respond in any way except for this white light.
When I use the same 2 USB cables connected to a wall outlet I get the Motorola logo for a brief second then I get the following message:
Code:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED, Status Code:0
Battery Low
Cannot Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG HAB (CG: system, status: 0x004E)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
When it is at this screen I can use the Power + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for 10s shortcut till the screen turns off and then releasing the power button but keeping the 2 volume buttons down I can get to the recovery menu. When I try to enter AP Fastboot mode I get booted back to the above error screen. I have tried this thread to no avail in an attempt to get something out of the recovery menu. I have installed the USB drivers from this thread and at no point does RSD Lite detect the phone.
EDIT
After a while plugged into the PC the phone turned on exactly as it does when its plugged into the wall; brief Motorola logo followed by the above error screen
Not sure whether it matters but I have access to a Windows and a Linux installation. Lastly it is a Rogers RAZR. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi
Dont worry you made a nice deal. You'll have a little work to fix it but not so hard.
You have a latam razr and it will not charge 'till you flash a new rom on it.
Previous owner tried to flash sonething got an error resulting in a bricked phone.
Now your genius start working. You did some reading by now just read a lil more
Take sometime to make this factory cable you gonna need it to flash a rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403100
And this is the rom you'll flash after doing the factory cable to bypass your lower battery

Alright, just curious
Would I not be able to flash the Rogers Fastboot file found here I want to try reselling the phone once I've fixed it and having the appropriate stock software would be best
You can trick a Razr into power-off charging mode without the special cable.
Press and hold power and volume down until the screen flashes.
Release those buttons and press all three side buttons (power, vol up and vol down). When the bootloader menu pops up, plug in the charger.
Use the volume down button to scroll to the SBF option and use volume up to select it. Now press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds then release. This will automatically put your phone in the "powered down/charging" mode.
Wait till the battery charges all the way then complete a fastboot load.

You can flash stock Rogers. First make the Factory cable. Without battery you'll not flash anything.
In this mean time, try the above trick to see if you get it to charge. Will probably not, but give it a try.

Do you mean the device won't power on at all?
If that's not the case, then power+Vol-Down will power off the device after about 8 seconds.
It that is the case, it should go into power-off/charging mode automatically when the charger is connected, if the battery is completely drained.
This won't work from a PC's USB port. Use a charger.
try what PeterTowersSon told you (PedroTorresFilho or PedroTorresHijo )
get a diposable microsd and transform it on a factory cable
this way the Phone is tricked into thinking it has battery and will program.
in Ebay you can get cheap cables.
how much do you sell it to me as it is?

Seems like I already have a local buyer or I might just keep it, it'd be a nice upgrade from my Captivate sorry about that
So I almost have the cable done before I finish though, once I have a working cable can I then use it to get into AP Fastboot mode via the pwr+vol up+vol down combo then flash a new ROM via RDS Lite?

OK so I've built the Factory Cable and it seems to work, going to AP Fastboot mode I get a screen with this message:
Code:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED, Status Code:0
Battery OK
Can Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
The problem is that RSD Lite does not detect the phone on the PC. Not sure if it matters but I am connecting it via a USB Hub.

Yes, it does matter. Plug in an USB in the back side of your PC. Also, make sure you have the drivers for it.

[Q] Soft bricked RAZR MAXX

Hi guys
My XT910 was submerged in a river a couple of weeks ago. It did not short circuit, but I think it got soft bricked.
Whenever it boots, it will display AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S).
I can boot to Boot Mode Selection Menu with Power + Vol+ + Vol-, but I cannot scroll or select anything. I usually enter the page so that I can access BMM to Power Off the device or access the internal storage.
I tried to Fastboot an Asia ROM but the process got stuck at Step 2. I had no choice but to unplug USB. From then on, my laptop could never detect my phone again. I am using the latest Motorola Drivers and cable.
Today, I tried what was suggested here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738769
but because my phone could not be detected by my laptop, I transferred the Boot_new.img to MicroSD and used BMM to flash new kernel. (I wasn’t sure what I was doing.)
Now, when I boot my phone, AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S), and what I get after Boot Mode Selection Menu is a brief Motorola logo and Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure).
As of last check (half hour ago), battery health was at 96%. I cannot power down the device without BMM, or at least I don’t know how to. Can anyone assist me on restoring my phone to a functional state again?
Edit: prior to all this, my phone was on Euro OTA Jelly Bean

[Q] RAZR not booting anymore // Need help!

Hey guys,
i'm from Germany, so please excuse my bad english.
First off, on sunday i rooted my XT910 and put the CM11 KitKat on it.
I was not satisfied with Safestrap so i deleted it this morning and downloaded Clockwork.
After installing it, i started into recovery but my phone got stuck in a black screen after showing the Moto logo.
I tried a variety of solutions but none worked for me. The last one was the use of the RAZR Utility, what brought me more errors.
So now my phone boots into the FastLoader like this:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.74
eMMC INfo: Size 16G
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG Version (CG system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)
I also tried to get into the recovery mode, but after starting it, the Fastboot comes up again.
Please help!
Thank You!

Ok first you need to get to the boot menu by holding both volume buttons and push and let go of the power button but keep holding the volume buttons you should see a menu with a bunch of options. Go down to the flash mode and you then plug into the PC and use rsd to restore your phone. now you should be good. The only recovery that works for our phones is safestrap the other that used to work is boot menu manger and it is no longer working. So try these and let me know how it goes.

[Q] Need help with my Droid Razr. (Bricked)

Hey guys,
I had purchased this phone awhile back in 2012 and The model is: XT912. I had rooted it and installed a Custom Rom (Black Widow). The reason why I stopped using it was because I had a cracked screen so I upgraded to a different phone but having alot of issues with my new phone. So I decided to replace my screen for my Droid Razr, but its been awhile since i've used it and been experiencing issues of my phone not booting up and looked online for multiple solutions but no luck.
Issues are:
- Phone needs a USB Wall Charger to be able to be turned on, battery is charged fully but when I unplug my USB Charger, my phone turns off. When I try to attempt to do a fastboot session, I connect my Stock Motorola USB Cable to my PC and on my phone, it shows a white light. But when plugged in to a wall charger, my phone boots up but doesn't boot anywhere besides the motorola logo.
- My phone boots up, shows the motorola logo and goes straight to battery charge and it shows 0% then 5% then 100% sits there for about 3 minutes and then reboots.
- When trying to go into recovery, it stays on the motorola and i've left it there for 24 hours abd no luck.
I've tried multiple things, but its been very aggravating since I've been trying to look up solutions for the past week but still had no luck.
Please help =(

The white light means that your battery is empty, try this:
Booting from AP fastboot to charging mode
If the Device will only boot to AP Fastboot and it says Battery Low
Connect the phone/Device ato a Wall Charger (not PC)
-In AP Fastboot Mode hold Volume down& power buttons at the same time for +10 seconds
- When screen goes black...release power button
-Then IMMEDIATELY press and hold Vol - and Vol+ to boot to Boot Menu.
- In Boot Menu scroll down with volume down to BP Tools, press volume up to select
- Device should boot to Charging Mode with battery icon
- Once battery is charged, try flashing in AP Fastboot again
This will only work if battery charging Firmware is still present and not corrupted
If Motorola Device will not boot to Charging Mode, a Fastboot cable will be needed.
You can buy it or you can make one by yourself, look at the picture.
If you can boot to AP Fastboot mode use this utility to flash stock rom, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr/development/droid-razr-utility-xt913-jellybean-t2861798
If nothing works maybe your battery needs replacement...

I've tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned above but no luck.
What I remember is that, back in the day when I installed the ROM, I wiped everything, incl. the Recovery partition and I believe android version it was on was ICS. When I installed Black Widow, everytime i would reboot it, i had to turn it on a certain way, sort of like safe mode. I've tried it though but no luck
Also, everytime I do plug in a charger, It does show a charge of 100% but once I unplug the USB, it turns off and the only way to turn it back on is plugging the USB back in.
I've also created the cable you've mentioned, but it still shows a white light when plugged into a PC. I've already replaced the battery and the battery is brand new. Just replaced it yesterday.
Any other suggestions? Is there a way to fastboot it so i can install a stock rom with the OTA?
Thanks.

You can't charge the phone with the fastboot cable,it is for flashing the stock rom with RSD Lite when your battery is low.
Here is everything you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3023837
Download Motorola drivers,RSD Lite, appropriate sbf file for your region and flash it.
Oh,use Windows 7,not Windows 8
Edit:
Use this utility because you have XT912

Sent from my Razr XT910
I actually got it to boot up, but turns right back off. How do you boot it up into safe mode when the phone is off?

Ok, So I was able to get to the Boot Logo usuing HW Diag. and Boot AP and my screen would show safe mode activated, then it would boot up a logo and I believe its cyanogen mod. It has a Blue Droid with a ring circling around it, but then it restarts. Maybe if i'm able to boot it into safe mode from the beginning, i could start it up.
How do I boot it into safe mode when the phone is off?
Thanks.
