Can't Flash Roms or zip files in CWM...Need help

The problem started when after I flashed the recovery with Odin. When I booted into the recovery and tried to install the superuser zip file I keep getting this message: "E:cant copy META-INF/google/android/update-binary". I get this message when I try to flash a Rom: "E:Can't open /sdcard/update-unamed-1.3.1-full.zip". I've been trying to flash the CM7 nightlies and the "Unamed" Rom. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Also, I ended up having to install superuser via SuperOneClick
Honestly, I stopped trying after the phone kept confusing me with SD Card, External Card, and Internal Card/External SD Card BS it was giving me.
I just left my phone rooted, lol.
Sometimes, this tends to happen if you rooted your phone with an anti-virus software running on your PC which can hinder the rooting process. (always the case with my HTC Inspire 4G). So turning it off could allow you to re-download Odin, and run the program again to root it again so it can install the proper files.
Once you get it re-rooted, get into CWM, do a backup, and Clear your Cache, Data and reinstall the ROM from your Internal Card or External Card (which ever you used to place the ROM in).
Good luck.

CWM and root are not even related....
root is root access to your OS /system and its functions. it has nothing to do with RECOVERY or anything outside of a RUNNING OS. i wish everyone would understand that.
as long as CWM is there, AND WORKING PROPERLY, rooting has nothing to do with it. you can flash a new rom from bone stock OS, as long as you have the CWM kernel.
@OP, you have these files (roms) located on the INTERNAL SD right?
I think that's why @homescrub said:
"and run the program again to root it again so it can install the proper files."
Proper files being cwm. As of yet I don't know of a way to install cwm without root on this phone. I know the captivate previously allowed an update to be flashed using stock recovery to get cwm.

Are you clearing your cache before trying to flash zip from sd card? I know I got a similar problem when I didn't clear cache.

how do you flash CWM?
through ODIN
that does NOT require root. you dont flash it via ROM manager....so whats the need for root to add CWM?
and what is this 'proper files' crap? you either have CWM or you dont, its not half-assed
nah its cool. im done here. i will let the misinformation fly. let the noobs run in circles. this website is going to **** so fast these days.
No man ....you should help these guys....just lighten up...and I apologize for coming off like that.....and one place I CAN understand is seeing what's going on in the forums....it is chaos sometimes.....I am just tired of seeing noobs who need help get ripped up.....just as much as I am tired seeing noobs posting +1 and Great Job, in the Dev forums. I just think this is the place to help them get a good understanding so there is not another new thread with this same question.

[Q] Restore contacts2.db

Hello everyone!
Up till now this forum helped me in every stupid thing i did with my HTC Tattoo (rooting, insxtaling cyanogen etc) but now im stuck and i couldn find any anwsers so i have to ask for help
Here's the deal: I have cyanogen mod 7 on my HTC Tattoo and yesterday it got stuc (bootloop) and wouldnt turn on. Me being the i***t i am didnt do a backup recently, so i did a backup in clockworkmod recovery. I did a factory reset and everythin and the phone works ok now, but i've lost all my data. I can live without the apps and sms's but i would really like to get my contacts back. I tried to backup only the data in clockwork recovery, but i get the same bootloop again. I managed to extract the contacts2.db file from my data.img, but now i don't know how to get it back on my device. I tried coppying it back in the correct folder using root explorer, but that didnt work (contacts were still empty) and now i'm stuck.
I would really apreciate some help
Thank you!
This is why you should sync your contacts to Google. Before you wiped your phone, did you try flashing the CM ROM zip first? If the cause of the boot loop was something you messed up in the /system partition, then flashing the CM zip will wipe your system partition and put a clean copy of the ROM there, and your phone will work. You wouldn't need to wipe your data partition. So try this now, restore the backup of your messed up ROM and flash the CM zip over it. Let's see if it works.

[Q] EMMC folder not recognized by AOKP jellybean?

Hello, I have an I-777 that is currently flashed to task650's AOKP ROM (Link to the thread).
I followed the guide at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081
I did a full backup with Titanium Backup, then used steps 2c and 3a of the guide linked above, then I flashed the AOKP rom with CWM.
My accounts connect and everything looks good, but my internal SD storage is missing. The external SD is available in the OS, but not any internal or USB storage.
I've wiped cache and user data and reflashed a couple of times, and I see my old storage in a folder called /emmc/, which I can't access through the OS, only through CWM. The ROM and gapps are in that folder and I can flash from them.
I have a feeling that /emmc/ is a storage folder that's used in gingerbread or ics but not in jellybean. I just don't know how to use that information to reach an answer.
I'd like to get access to that data in the OS since it seems to be uncorrupted but I am unsure of how to proceed.
I appreciate any help.

I don't ever recall that Task's AOKP actually uses /emmc but /sdcard0.
If nothing there, you can format it and see if it works.

Are you using another kernel? AJK?
Sent from my SGH-i777 using Tapatalk 2
I had them same issue. Flashed using OTA and then couldn't see my external card. Restored nandroid and everything worked. Tried updating a few different ways still no go. I haven'y had to full wipe in a while, hope I wont this time either. Had to go to work so will try a couple different things today to see if it was somthing I did. Of course it has nothing to do with Task's ROM or his new kernel. LOL
Ken
Update: I tried a number of different ways to flash it. I didn't want to go thru the full wipe process at this time so I restored to last backup for now.

I apologize for not responding to this thread. I just flashed a few more times without doing a full wipe and eventually it took and populated my 'People' app. I didn't know, however, that using the OTA would wipe my contacts again. I have now learned my lesson and done a FULL backup.
My question is (kind of) answered, so I'm going to close this thread.

Problems with storage not recognized

I really need help. Major problem.
My storage is not working at all (external-SD card one). I'll try to give all the info about the problem and how it appeared:
My One X+ was on CM 10.1.3 with BLADE kernel 3.1.10 #201305062233 (I didn't use the included kernel in the ROM.zip, used an older version instead). Yesterday I tried to update to CM 10.2 Nightly (I think it was 20131105) but through the CM Updater. It downloaded the ROM and I updated it without flashing the boot.img previously and the phone rebooted and got stuck at bootscreen but, ok, than I tried to flash the kernel through the One X+ Toolkit and it failed. From this point, I may have made some stupid things but here's what I did:
I forgot to clean cache and dalvik cache and since I couldn't flash new kernel I decided to go back to the previous ROM 10.1.3 and after I did it (without wiping data) it rebooted and acted weirdly so I went back to recovery and cleaned cache, dalvik and did a SD card format(!) Reason I did it was cause it didn't recognize anything on SD card when connected to PC via USB, but DID recognize everything in CWM recovery under the Flash new zip - menu. After that, I got lost. One more thing I also forgot - Google apps. I did not flash the zip and now it was deleted from SD along with ROM.zip and other stuff. I thought of bringing it back to SD, but... all I'm getting is this( image one) its emty and when I open properties it shows this (image two). When I try to copy anything on it it doesn't allow me. In phone's file manager I can access internal memory (system, sys, acct, data, rfs, root...) but inside storage-folder is only folder-emulated. No sdcard0, sdcard, legacy and that kind of stuff and if I try to crate them they disappear after reboot. Long story-short, now I can't do ANYTHING! Cant copy stuff to SD, can't flash kernels and ROMs, can't install RUU (i tried that one too-no results, and yes, I did re lock the bootloader), cant't swap recovery, can't use my phone for anything except for calling, texting and searching in the browser (but cant download anything). Another bummer is that I can't access Gapps.
So, to sum up: no way of using SD with phone or PC. I hope there is a way for using my storage again but I can't think of any.
PLEASE help if anyone knows the answer. I'll appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Any other info, just ask.
hey man i know this is a very old post but i have the exact same problem, did you find solution to this problem ?

[Q] Internal Storage Problem

Hey guys,
I was having problems concerning the service on my HTC, I thought maybe it was from the android OS, since i had installed a custom ROM like two years ago, so i went to this site and downloaded another custom ROM (android revolution HD 8.0) after i backed up everything, and wiped data and cache.... i went to install the ROM, an error has occurred while opening the zip file.
So I restored my previous version, and now the WiFi doesn't work, the service is ALWAYS off, I'm not getting any signal at all, and MOST IMPORTANTLY the internal storage cannot be seen on my PC, so i can't install another ROM.
Please if anyone has a solution for this, let me know.
PS: i can see the sd card when in recovery mode but not on my pc when plugged.
Thank you for your help
You should install modules for the corresponding kernel you flashed.
