Thinking to buy this phone urgent - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I'm thinking to buy this phone today but I have a few questions.
Do games run smoothly on this phone, I've heard stories of people saying it even lags playing games like temple run?
How hard is it to unlock the bootloader using the test point mehtod? Are there some neo Vs that can't be unlocked?
Is the screen of the neo v good? Do you think its small compared to a 4 inch screen?
Hope these can be answered quickly as I need to buy it within the next 1 hour and 20 minutes lol.
Thanks to whoever helps me out, appreciate it

It's not really a top-spec phone, I can imagine it playing Temple Run smoothly but couldn't be sure, on the iPhone 3G it lags hard, on the 3GS it is smooth. The screen is fine, what more can you expect?

On GB or jb games are good not on ICS.
Bare in mind this was always a mid spec phone. Boot loader after 12w4 cannot be unlocked via test point

Just had a look at the phone, you can't unlock it via Sony. Beneath the battery the manufacturing date is 11W44, will it definitely be unlockable via test point?

Yes, should be no problem. Note if it says unlock = no then you will need to have sim lock removed to use fastboot for kernel flashing.

Its a T-Mobile locked Neo V. When I went into the service menu it said bootloader unlock allowed: No.
With the Xperia X8 we don't have fastboot so I'm not familiar with it. Is it necessary to have it to flash kernels?

Yes, fastboot is the only way to load custom kernel but you can get it unlocked for around €15.
Or every so often omnius server has a promotion when you can unlock for free. My neo is a T-Mobile unlocked via omnius

I've used it on my sensation and it works pretty well. Low lighting situations are pretty frustrating but you are given an alternative unlock option when those occur.

My nexus s is on official 4.0.3 and they removed the face unlock feature.. due to the low VGA camera
I was thinking "that's stupid"
So I flashed my phone with a ics rom with face unlock and I can tell you one thing... its HORRENDOUS
Probably 9 times out of 10 it won't work
Should only work well if the camera is 1.3mp+

i can't find any face unlock in ICS of Xperia S, can anyone help me?
Tried it a few times on my Galaxy 2. Worked first time every time, but then I went to work ;-)
Most of my day is on the road or in customers premises. Worked fine at the customers though I did get some strange looks. However on the road its a pain in the butt. You have to wait for the camera attempt to time out before you can use the pattern to unlock. I have gone back to the swipe.

As per my issue I would Luke to inform you to make a checklist about your needs and try to match on gsmarena with your checklist. I hope you will find your best one.
Another thing is no device are fully compiled for all sort of needs like surfing, gaming, music, video etc. Every device has its own pros & cons, you will find these over gsmarena too.
Please update us about your needs and your selection. So that this thread will be helpful for other's whone looking for it.

Large screen is not that important for me. Good battery, yes. I would prefer sense but with my requirements, it doesn't fit my budget.
My requirements:
GPU for HD Games
Camera 5MP or above
Screen resolution should be good
At least 1 Ghz processor
And some other basic needs that now a days are fullfilled on almost all the handsets. Oops and also xda support/development of tons should be good.
For the above specs, I found Neo V to be beneficial. Any other suggestions ?

I don't really know how much your budget is since my currency is the Euro but for your requirements (mine were pretty much the same) I would buy Xperia Play (if you're really into gamming). I also considered Neo V but I wanted a bigger screen and the physical controls are really awesome. Neo V is around 160€ in my country and I bought Play for 200€, not that much difference.
I'd recommend a galaxy S. Strong gpu beautiful screen flash and good rom development..

****.. now I'm really confused between these three phones:
HTC One V - doesn't have front camera
Sony Ericsson Neo V - less internal space and a bit old
Samsung Galaxy S - less ROM
Above phones have its cons. I'm from India and here, 3G is not yet fully established. It might take almost a year or 2 for it to get established fully.

Don't buy the galaxy s. Its a nice phone but very old and Samsung has stopped supporting it. You're better off with the Sony or HTC phone that you've mentioned.
Ps.Sony phone gets official ics.

Do your research on the phones available to you and make up your own mind. Never and I mean never get a phone based on how many Developers the phone has because you will be disappointed when the next best device comes out and the Devs move devices as they tend to do.
In closing make up your own mind

[Q] openion abt xperia tipo

Guys im in the thought of purchasing xperia tipo to my girlfriend
B4 that I need to know something about it can you tell me the negatives in it ....???
Also positives...
Well tipo has Xloud tm experience which allows it to play music at very loud volumes and enhances the quality of the speakers. Tipo scored very high in Antutu so if your gf is in gaming then I'll recommend it. The bandwidth and upload speed is also quite good. Plus it is a budget phone. The build design of Tipo is beautiful and many reviews has given it full stars for it's build quality. Also it is very light and easy to hold. The only negative is its small screen size. But you can solve that by buying miro.
HIT THANKS

What do u think abt Motorola fire xt
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
Yes it is good too . But the most reviews I have read , it is a fail mobile. Motorola fire xt is thicker than tipo considering the mobile is from Motorola which creates very thin mobiles. In a video review I saw that it takes very long time to boot load. Also there were many problems with the touch screen. The sound quality isnt that great either. The internet is same as tipo considering if you're using the same WiFi. But I think your gf wouldn't so much in hifi technology, so yeah you can buy her this phone taking into account that the screen is 3.5inches.
PS have you tried htc explorer.

[Q] Touch screen unresponsive in lock screen

I have been having this problem since few days.
IT takes 3-5 tries to unlock my phone.
I tried everything -reverting to stock firmware, removing battery, removing memory card, etc.
I charged it once with a cheap charger and my problems started.
I've unlocked my bootloader so my warranty is now void.
Please help
I've read of problems caused by cheap battery chargers but I've always been casual about that
Seems it's time for me to be cautious while using a charger...

You are lucky man...your display is still surviving.
I once charged my phone via Samsung charger and my lcd was done away with...but don't worry about your bootloader...india hai...bootloader kya hota hai ye tak nahi pata hota yaha ke service centre walo ko...simple root tak to pata nahi hota...ha ha ha...just relock it by flashing the relock ftf and flash stock GB ftf and take it to them...and then show like you are a complete dumb who can't even install apps...and pretend like you know nothing how it happened.
I did the same thing and got my lcd replaced under warranty...but beware...if you don't mind your device lying there for a couple of months...go with it.
I got mine after 4mths.

Yeaah...just tell them u were updating firmware or repairing via pc comp and all off a sudden something(obviously u should not be knowing...bcoz u are a complete dumb) happened and the phone went dead...give it a soft brick...or just remove some system app so it goes into bootloop...but DON'T speak the word Bootloop...you know why...Ha Ha Ha.
If your device is bricked they simply repair it via pc companion...and since you already have relocked it...it will straight away start repairing it...hence they dont even think if it is locked or unlocked.

There is nothing to be done with the battery...relock the bootloader and try to repair via pc companion...and don't charge via non-sony charger. Also this may be kernel related. Playing with the voltages may be a cause..not to mention OC.

[Q] One Touch / Screen Mirroring not working

Hi there
I can't use One Touch Setup with my Z1 and Tablet z2, both 4.4.2, but the tablet ends quickly with this message:
Timeout
Connection timed out. Make sure your device is running Android 4.4. or later and supported for use with One-touch setup. To use this feauture. you must be logged in as the device owner and keep bluetooth on
And of course, my Z1 ends with the same message, but a few seconds later. Could be related with my "unlock-relock bootloader"?
Thanks!
