I downloaded a full resolution image of the Mars landing site taken by Curiosity, but I think the file is too large for Android. When any app goes near the file it just crashes, that includes Gallery, Quick Pic, and Root Explorer.
I can mount USB to delete it, but before I do I was just wondering if anyone had an app capable of opening it. I really enjoy the zoom feature of Android for looking at pictures.

What size is it and do you have a link for the download?
It's 29212x10992, and 67MB.
Here is the DL: http://www.nivnac.co.uk/mer/images/MSL3_bradbury_landing_full.jpg
The website is in the OP.

Whoops, I had to remove the active link because it would kill Chrome on my laptop too... You need to right-click and "save link as" to download it.
I know the image is stitched together, but in one piece it is equivalent to 321.1 Mega Pixels, and I can't find anything to open something that large!
Hi I will dl it in the morning and have a play on my PC but I can't imagine anything that will open it on our tablets.
Have you opened it on your PC and if so what with ?
I guess I'm going to have some fun in the morning.

Yup, windows photo viewer seems to be able to open it with about 20-30 seconds of loading. Windows live photo gallery, which is my default, cannot no matter how long you let it load for... now just to wait until the next picture to see if any of the "rocks" have moved! (Like on Apollo 18)

OP edited, NSFW folder is removed, now NSFW pictures will be located in the same folder.
Sorry about the folder problems, not sure what's going on with 4shared lately.

Hmm, I tried uploading and downloading on the stock browser and didn't have a problem. Are you using the first or second link?

Same here. I used the first link

ack, sorry for the problems guys. I'll try to figure a way to get this sorted. I was hoping this would really come together nicely.
Give me a little bit, I'm stuck at work right now, then a nerve-root block injection at 11:30 (Alaska time). I'll try to get something worked out before then.

I got the .bin on one of the files, the rest worked great. Thanks for setting this up.
I just tried to upload a 3D picture IMG0149.mpo and it only shows in 2D when trying to view it. Any ideas?

I see it in 3D on there. When you view the image, try pressing menu and see if there is a button for "View in 3D".
I'm trying to figure out the .bin problem... I can only find two pictures so far that it happens with. If I download them on my PC it works fine after being transferred to my phone, but it won't allow me to download as .mpo format.
I'm going to try to remove and re-upload the problem files, so please give me some time, again I'm sorry for the problems it's having. 4shared is not being nice to me today.
Edit: Heading out now for most of the day, have to go get myself a spine injection. I'll try to get the problem files sorted later tonight.
rad as hell. downloading them all.
Holy derp batman! I figured out the .bin problem!
Apparently, if there's a space in the name, it downloads as a .bin. No space = no .bin
So from now on, no spaces in the names.
You were all downloading the "Down Shirt.mpo" picture it seems (Down Shirt has been renamed to Down_shirt, go get it lol)
Edit: Also, didn't get my spine injection today, that's why I'm still active on the forum. I'll be getting it next Monday morning.

4shared does that with stock browser along with dolphin..just rename it to correct file name and you are set..not a problem with firefox..the download engine is different so does not mess up as does stock. Also have problems with rapidshare and some of the other sites....even on file names that are correct.

.bin problem is solved. As long as the files don't have a space in them, they download as .mpo properly. Took me a while to figure out the problem, then I noticed that the only two pictures so far that wouldn't download right had spaces... Renamed the files, and the problem was solved. Not sure if it will happen again, but it seems that it's resolved at least.
I have problems downloading on 4shared with file names..happens on 3vo and also happened with evo 4g...download a mp3 from 4shared and see what I mean. With or without spaces..no big...just a pain in the rear end..
This is a known problem

Thanks for all of your work on this. The pictures are awesome!

I'm just sharing the space, don't forget to thank the people that are uploading to the site. Could definitely use more pictures, but people are uploading little by little.
Nice job renaming the pictures, I will try to take some more today and upload.

I use an app called download all files(icon is blue box with white down arrow in market and free) that is an "auto app" that runs with your browser. So maybe if u get that and view the webpage gmail u can download any gmail attach. It may work with gmail app also bit I don't know. Worth a shot.
Edit::I know it comes up as a choice for what to use to download attachment when in gmail app. And it supports a lot of file types..try it out..I love having this small app take care of my download so I don't need another file manager that takes up cpu and ram running just to download files that I want
I will try later on, thanks

I have the very same question.
Don´t know why google put such limitations in gmail app. But Download all files did not help.
Anyone have another sugestion?
Thanks in advance!
Search market for download Gmail attachment.
I saw one before. Might have been downdroid.
But download all files SHOULD work. At least it does for me ...
Go to the market and search for "Download All Files." This app lets you download anything through the browser and Gmail. It's worked for me so far.
Echo echo echo lol
I have been using download all files ever since I rooted my phone. I didn't want to have to download astro just to download roms and found that app.
I have used it multiple times to save attachment from my Gmail also.
Pretty sure you just long press the attachment after you have "download all files" app installed.
it works on its own. You do not need to open it at all. Its is like a plug in/add on type of app
Download all files really don´t work for me. Don´t know why.
The app is installed, I long press the file in gmail and nothing happens.
Still looking for another one.
Has anyone had success getting this to run properly? I installed the apk and it starts up fine, but once i enter a folder and start scrolling right through the thumbnails, eventually, once i get very deep into the folder, i get a force close. It doesnt happen with folders containing lesser quantities of images though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Quickpic is far better than the stock one. I would prefer the asop one but quickpic will do until then.
Thx for the heads up on quickpic. Great app! Wish i knew about it earlier.

I somehow lost the stock Nook "My Media" app. Can someone post up an apk so I don't have to reset in order to get it back?
Here you go...
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3770884/com.bn.nook.gallery.apk
be advised, Indirect has a much cooler setup than the default.

Mind putting the APK up again? The link's dead...
I do prefer Indirect's set-up, but I can't access my screenshots through the 3D Gallery.

If you ever lose a system app again, you can do an "adb push" from your computer. Just download the firmware and unzip it and you will find the files you need. Getting the file posted can be easier but not having to wait for someone to respond can be quicker.

Related question... when I try to add an attachment to an email the "My Media" is the only option remotely close to being able to browse for a file - how do I replace it with (or simply add) a real file browser?
Also, where can I put a file so that it actually shows up in My Media???
Couldn't you just use ES Explorer or any file manager with root access and reinstall the gallery.apk located in "System\App"?
Or maybe I'm missing something.

Is that the Nook Gallery ("My Media") or the standard Android Gallery app?
I'm trying to replace the crappy and very limited Nook one...
Would I just install another gallery to replace the My Media?
EDIT: I just clicked on it and chose install, I guess it IS the "My Media". Have you used "My Media"? I want something like a regular browser that let's me attach files (when sending emails) other than just the pictures that come with the NT.... Also would like a gallery type browser in addition to the Root Browser I have installed...
With Enhanced Email, I can attach any type file from anywhere using Gallery, My Media, Quickoffice, sound recorder or any of my file managers.
help?

Sorry to be a noob, but where is the firmware zip?
I'd like to reinstall a couple of things I de-blated prematurely. Thanks for any help any of you have.
Thought this would be simple. Maybe Im missing something.
I take a Zoe capture. 20 frames and a 3 second video. I have no problem saving and sharing frame/stills from the capture. But I have no idea how to export the video as a whole.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think we can. I haven't tried it myself but I do believe I read it somewhere.
Uh after connect the phone to pc via usb , you should find the .mov file in the DCIM folder.

I use dropbox. Using file explorer [I use es] navigate to dcim folder and look for the mp4 files. Shorter ones are Zoe.

This is what i do. All mine are sideways though.
I used airdroid to move them over, but you can just copy and paste them over like you normally would with a USB stick or something. When you upload them back onto your device it will just look like 20 pictures and 1 mp4 file, however when restarting my phone it recognized the files and created the ZOE again.
