Is it possible to lock bootloader with custom rom/kernel?
You will able to use custom ROM if the ROM support stock kernel (Seems only MIUI at this moment).
For kernel, it's just not possible.
he can use customs roms, as well. However, if he encounters bootloops he need to flash stock kernel.
It's working for me.
It's not possible to flash CyanogenMod, as it's not based on stock kernel.
To flash custom kernel u need unlocked boot loader ....& u can use Roms which are based on stock kernel.

sorry, more like I install this rom?

must have some specific fw to flash the kernel? and then it must unlock the bootloader? could post a tutorial with installation abrçs
first requirement to install a custom rom is a custom kernel and to install a custom kernel you would have to unlock bootloader.
sorry there is no specific tutorial for the installation of this rom.
what i can only provide to you is a link for unlocking bootloader here.
for the installation of the rom, check other roms for installation instructions.
they basically have the same approach.
I understand, I already unlocked the bootloader him, he was sk17a xperia mini pro, and I swapped it for a sk17i fw 0.42, now I have flashing a custom kernel, I use this rom I posted just above, so that my doubt that, if I can flash the kernel with this fw 0:42? why some are not compatible, then I dissso replace the kernel, I'll have to unlock the bootloader again to put the CM7 aosp? backing up the kernel and the stock rom? hugs
This ROM, which link you gave in first post, has own kernel, which is the ONLY kernel that works with this ROM. The kernel is included in the post.
CM7.2 and CM9 have also own kernel, that works only with specific ROM.
Rage Kernel, X Kernel and others are for stock(and stock-based) ROMs, for example Hybrom.
Hi guys,
I just wanna ask, when on a custom rom will it be safe to flash any stock rom (2.3.x or 4.0.x) with a custom kernel?
Will I have to flash the stock kernel too with the rom?
I have never tried but I think it's absolutely fine to do it. Go ahead and give it a try.

Depends on the base of your mini Rom.
Stock ics based you can use any ics based kernel like suave, lupus, etc.
For cm based you must use cm kernels.
Yes you flash kernels in fastboot mode with flashtool.
send from my mt11i with cm10 unofficially (TheDarkDefender build) on fusion kernel v5

There are two miui version in this thread.
1. v4 which ist stock sony ics .587 based
2. v2 which is cm7 based.
For v4 you can use any compatible ics based kernel.
Look at the stickys and you will find the kernels listed.
On my mind are stock sony kernel, advaced stock kernel, suave kernel, lupus kernel and nightelf (aliance) kernel.
If you are already on sony ics rom you can directly install miui rom.
If you want more kernel features than you must flash a custom kernel. To do so you have to unlock your phone bootloader.
V2 is cm7 based as already written. To try it you must unlock your bootloader and flash the provided kernel that comes with the rom.

Yupp.
V4 ist .587 based and works with stock kernel. You are limited to stock kernel features. If you want more like overclocking, etc you must unlock your bootloader and flash an custom ics kernel.
With a locked bootloader you are limited, with a unlocked bootloader you are free!!!
Guys i rooted my phone but i cannot unlock the bootloader as it says NO, does that mean i cant try custom roms or kernels? is it better to stay stock or custom rom? Thanks and i have the candian bell version.
You can use custom roms based on stock firmwares, no custom kernels or cm based roms I'm afraid

So how would I know if it's based on stock firmware? Never had a sony before so basically I get twrp or clockwork recovery and install the rom?
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Free mobile app
It will state in the rom thread, romaur and monxified are both based on stock
Whichever rom you go with there will be instructions on how to load it on a locked bootloader in the first post
Hello guys, I'm on custom AEX treble build with Franco kernel.
My question is: can I flash other custom ROMs over custom kernel or will I have to go back stock kernel before flashing other treble build?

I am going to assume that you are going to do a clean flash/factory reset (deleting apps and their data). When you flash a rom it flashes a kernel so custom kernel is gone.
Although you didn't ask I will state it anyways. If you are trying different custom kernels you need to flash back to the roms original kernel before flashing a new kernel.
