best outlook app - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm finding a lot of outlook apps but I don't know the difference. and I don't want to download every single one to test it. what app can read/send the outlook mails and can change the agenda?

I think K9 is generally accepted as being pretty awesome but not sure, haven't used it myself for ages.

[Q]Exchange server - how to show global contacts?

Hi
I have a question for you - how do I get contacts to show in the address book from an exchange server.
Emails are sync'ed, but can't get contacts to show
Im not sure what exactly it is called in english, but I should be able to show something like "globale contact list". On HTC Desire I can go into "Corporate" and see the contacts, but on SGS2 I dont know how to show contacts at all.
Any help?
Thanks in advance
Noone at all?
Corporate Address Book App
Its one of the basic functionality that should have been a part of the stock s2 email app but unfortunately its not there.. Tried searching for it and most of the apps are either paid or of no use..
This so far is the best available free app for the purpose, using it for around 2 months now:
market.android.com/details?id=net.vivekiyer.GAL
or
code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/
Thank you very much. Looks promising
Exactly what I was looking fore. Thx

[Q] Recomended email app

Anyone recommend a "one size fit all email app" like the iphone, for Att S2?
I'm using Exchange, yahoo, gmail. I have lots of folder in my exchange mail and the stock Mail is sux.
Moxier mail is good but only have 1 email acc. I need an app that can put all mails in one place and showing folders instead of coupel apps for emails.
Thanks
I use Gmail for all of my accounts. I set Gmail up to retrieve (pop) mail from my Yahoo account and my other email address forwards to Gmail. I have labels set up, which allows me to organize it. I've been doing this for a while and it works really well.
What about Exchange, all folder will show or i have to go settings and choose specific folder to view? it's a pain in the bu.. . I really like the way iphone's emails handle.

I've never used Exchange, but if you were able to successfully configure it for pop retrieval, it'd work just as your other email addresses, in terms of how you view them (outlined below). Otherwise, perhaps forwarding is an option. For the email address I have forwarding, I set up filters (scans incoming emails for defined rules) to apply labels (e.g., when the sender or recipient is ______, apply this label). It's something you'd have to toy around with, but I've gotten mine set up pretty well.
All emails would show in your Gmail account inbox (with labels on each one, if you've done this) and you have the ability to specifically select a label to only see mail with that label. This is something you can do online or on your device via the Gmail app (viewing individual labels). I've tried just about every email client and I've found that this method is what works best for me.
Good luck.

I was set up like this as well for quite some time - and it worked well. Recently switched to using maildroid, which I like, but haven't customized to get more functionality than I had with gMail yet...
What's wrong with the stock mail client? Seems really nice to me. Should support all of those account types and you can switch folders very easily.

Back in my Captivate days, I found the stock email client to be unreliable. Ever since then, I've been avoiding it.

The problem is with stock email. My folders didn't go in order some + subfolders.... Moxier mail gives exactly the folder in order like the outlook also display the number for new email....like the MS Outlook in computer.
I just reinstalled Moxier mail and use stock mail for yahoo, gmail also. Oh well, no choice

The stock email client is very nice and seems to work very well with Exchange. From what I've seen so far:
1) Tasks will sync
2) Folders are supported, much nicer and easier than with the Captivate
3) Flags are supported
4) Various display options such as first line preview, threaded emails, etc
5) Out of Office settings can be made from phone.
6) You can search emails on the server, not just those on your phone
7) In landscape it'll do a preview pane on the right-hand side. Not bad.
Try it, you've got nothing to lose. Seems pretty nice so far. The only thing I am missing is the ability to "check" multiple emails and take an action on a group of them (e.g., delete them all). You need to do it one-by-one. But so far it works well.
Anybody know if the stock email client can be set up for "push only" so it doesn't poll every x minutes for new mail?
Another vote for enhanced email. You can bypass exchange security rules

Enhanced Email is what youre looking for. I'm a huge Exchange user and this program easily integrates and works just like it does on iphone. You can choose which folders to keep in sync and it will notify you whenever a new message arrives in sub-folders.
The only problem I have with the stock email app is that you can't "Select All" and delete. That capability, and the ability to forward emails by clicking on several contacts and adding them , as the stock program does, are two features I really like; however, I can't find an email program that has both capabilities.

I installed Enhance email. However, it looks alike stock mail (may be I haven't explorer it much). I do like Moxier mail because it's giving me the interface just like Outlook (folder is in order same as my work laptop). Unfortunately, Moxier mail only have 1 account. Wish i can add other acc then it should be PERFECT

[Q] Email app - Hotmail + Gmail

Hi all,
I would like to access several hotmail and gmail accounts from my phone from a single app. I tried the standard mail app, which setup great. However major problems for me are
1) It doesn't allow you to specifiy how many emails to retrieve (only their age).
2) The emails are shown in such a horrible format, and you can't alter the format of your emails.
So I tried k9 mail which has tons of features but it doesn't work well with hotmail as I have to access via pop and hence all of my folders are missing. Also there's no "email read" sync.
So can anyone advise me of an app that has the features of k9 but the compatibility of the stock app?
Many Thanks
Give K-9 Mail a try, its free on market, and works like a charm.

Surely there must be such an app??
How does the stock email app access Hotmail?
If you can't access Hotmail through imap then you won't find an app that can provide what you are searching for.

I believe it uses Microsoft Exchange and as I said, it works perfectly. However k9 has limited access through Exchange so does not work.
Surely must be an app with equivalent compatibility but extra features compared to stock app???
I don't use Hotmail myself so I can't help you there.
Search the market there are a couple of (paid) email apps, perhaps one will provide what you are looking for.

Mail Program - That works like outlook.

Hello all,
Looking for a mail program that will receive mail from 3 to 5 accounts and filter it into a separate folder for each account.
Thanks,
John

Default email program allows multiple accounts, it keeps them in different folders.
Almost as complex & hard to set up as Outlook, but satisfying in the end: K9 and Kaiten. You can swap config files between the two, so you can start with the free K9.

Ditto, it works very well. I use it on both my Note 10.1 2014 and my Note II. I've had up to eleven email accounts working on it without any problem. Although it keeps mail in separate folders it also includes a unifying inbox to make it easier to keep up-to-date will all accounts, this is something I found frustrating with Outlook in that it does not include a unifying inbox, thus on my desktop PC I've now switched to Thunderbird.
Count me as a big fan of aqua mail

cloud magic is awesome
TouchDown for smartphones and tablets is the best I have ever used. It is harder to configure compared to aquamail, but once it is set up, you will be happy. I currently use aquamail for my personals, and touchdown for business (office 365 account). I highly recommend it.

I personally use CloudMagic for my email needs (1 personal Gmal, one Google Apps Gmail for school, one Hotmail, and one Yahoo). It also supports office 365 accounts, exchange, iCloud, and IMAP accounts. You have separate folders for each within the app, as well as a unified inbox option. Its really smooth and very useful, as well as looking nice too

I agree, Nine is the best Outlook-esque email app I have used on Android. Very nice UI, crisp and modern, able to change fonts for outgoing messages, etc...

Are you looking for a more robust mail app?

The stock Samsung email app is OK but robust it is not. If you want more consider AquaMail Pro. Free trial and a few bucks to own. Very good looking and powerful. Keep all of your email addresses in one spot.
I have no connection to the app other than I own and like it.
K9 mail real good opensource mail client.

I agree Aquamail is quite nice IMO. Did not take long for me to get the pro version... For couple bucks it is well worth it.... Knowing also how much work is required to access exchange via ews the app is in fact cheap... Only complain is no sync with Outlook contact and calendar AFAIK.
Thanks for the heads up on this app that deserves it.
Cloudmagic is great too

If I require mail, contact and calendar sync with 3 Exchange accounts what is the best non stock email app for me to try? I have been hating the inaccurate notification style of the stock Samsung email app
Nine is my email app of choice. Plus it shows the exchange calendar in the stock calendar app.

+1 for Nine. I have been looking for a good Exchange Email App and when I found Nine I knew I hit gold! It is by far the best Exchange Email app around... and I have tried many.

If MS Exchange compatibility is your prioirity you cant beat Touchdown. It is not free however. But you can get a free trial to try it out. For me its well worth the price.
Yes, Cloudmagic. I just went through and tried most of them, and Cloudmagic I've been using for about a week. Aquamail did look good, I just didn't have the time to go through and learn all the functionalities of it. I'll probably give it another try once I'm able to spend more time learning it.

But Gmail doesn't have push notifications
Is it only the included mailapp (and calendar) from Samsung that works with the tab after papergarden? I assume you know what I'm talking about, no? On videos from YouTube I believe the widgets covering the calendar and mail widgets are yellow and green.
If third party mail/calendar apps doesn't work together with said widgets, isn't it better to stick with the stock apps?
No way.. Blue mail is the one. They will repond quickly also if you send in ab issue. Plus its works constantly for push on mulitple accounts. Stock for some reason goes to sleep and emails come in up to 1 hour late. I thought google would have fixed the isue from note 3. Not every since they stopped supporting exchange mail settings 2 years ago.
who runs blue mail? There no info who they are?
I like mailbox, perfect for me.
type mail
It's fairly new but I love it I think it's better than aquamail pro, I have them both downloaded but I think Type Mail is alot faster. Did I mention completely free.
