Hi
I have a question for you - how do I get contacts to show in the address book from an exchange server.
Emails are sync'ed, but can't get contacts to show
Im not sure what exactly it is called in english, but I should be able to show something like "globale contact list". On HTC Desire I can go into "Corporate" and see the contacts, but on SGS2 I dont know how to show contacts at all.
Any help?
Thanks in advance
Noone at all?
Corporate Address Book App
Its one of the basic functionality that should have been a part of the stock s2 email app but unfortunately its not there.. Tried searching for it and most of the apps are either paid or of no use..
This so far is the best available free app for the purpose, using it for around 2 months now:
market.android.com/details?id=net.vivekiyer.GAL
or
code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/
Thank you very much. Looks promising
Exactly what I was looking fore. Thx

Why not use Touchdown for Exchange?

Hey Guys
Just joined the android bunch when the wife got me a new Xperia X10 for my b'day/anniversary. Its awesome and i'am loving every bit of it especially the personalization part of it.
However coming from the iPhone I have a few queries and would be great if someone could help me with it. Have searched the forums and haven't really got any useful info of it (mind you i could have terrible searching skill, btw did anyone see my keys??)
I have two mail id's like most people. One is my personal gmail id and the other is my corporate mail id. I have configured them both onto my phone and I'am indeed recieving all mails without a glitch. Unfortunately I don't have an option of sorts to configure my office calendar to sync with the native app. The calendar option does not exist for the second mail option(The option to sync my personal gmail calendar exists and is working fine).
However while using the iphone3g previously I was able to simultaneously use both the calendars (gmail & corporate) and an update on either of the two calendars from my desktop would show on the calendar.
Question1
Is it possible to have a similar system on the android as well. The backend for my corporate mail is provided by gmail and so is the calendar and everything in it. Someone suggested elsewhere that i could share the calendar to my personal mail and i could use it that way. Unfortunately it not enabled for me and the only option for sharing lets my personal account to see if I'm free or engaged at any time. This would be of very limited use to me.
Question 2
Whenever i receive a mail with a calendar invite on the corporate id, the mail appears empty with a small attachment. Using the preview option on the mail app displays text based data that pretty much random stuff overlaid on the meeting name etc(i guess this is the program info or something). Is there anyway if and when i receive an invite i would be able to add them to my calendar or refuse it right-away etc..
These two queries are the biggest of my worries as of now on the otherwise enjoyable experience. I'm terrible sorry for the long post but thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Thanks for your time and help!!
Cheers!!
PS: Some background info, Phone: Xperia X10i, Firmware 2.1-Update1(India), unrooted, baseband 2.1.54. If there is any other app that would help me do the same(Paid or Free), it would be awesome.
Hi there,
I use my phone in a similar way, I have 4 accounts in my gmail app. 3 corporate and 1 personal. If I can remember back to 2.1 (eclair) you can only have 1 gmail account in that app. Then you have to use the mail app for up to 5 more (not sure about moxier mail, I never used it).
Basically what your best doing is rooting the phone to get it up to 2.2 (froyo) that way use have much more control over what sync's from each account. I would recommend tripnraver's froyo. He has a new 1.2.0 coming tonight. You do have to put up with some minor bugs, but the benefits far out weigh the negatives.
A lot also depends on what type of email accounts they are. Either way froyo is way better for your needs.
If you don't wish to dabble with your new present, wait a few months when sony bring out 2.3.4 gingerbread!
I have had a few close shaves, while flashing my phone but approx 10 roms later, I'm pretty sure it's hard to brick it. Worst case restore it back using the sony software.
Hope that helps.

Is there a way to view all mail combined in the Inbox (i.e. all email from subfolders and Inbox) in Exchange?
Also, I notice that new email sent to a subfolder does not trigger a notification?
This suggests that the stock email application in Touchwiz isn't synchronising the subfolders (except if one views the subfolder).
I can see a combined email folder in Touchdown but I would really like to use this stock app as the interface is very nice.
Any help would be appreciated.
Im also interessted in a Solution to this!
I gave up and went back to TouchDown.

Bad to hear this.
So i have to went back to my iphone - i won't pay 20$ for Touchdown - for a Function who is standard in outher Phone OS!
I hope Google will bring there better Compatibility with Icecream Sandwitch...
This is really pissing me off. I am missing tons of emails.
Having hotmail as my primary email, every time I send an email from the phone it shows up as my hotmail username and NOT my display name. For example, instead of showing up as from "John Smith" it shows up as "jsmith". I have not had this issue on any other phone including Galaxy Nexus, S2, Note, One X and the iPhone.
Would really love any kind of assistance to get this fixed!
Thanks!
well when you set up your email through the phones application for it you had a choice of what you could have you name as if you delete the email account and do it again look out for the white bar where you can change your name.

I cannot find a spot to do this as I'm setting the hotmail account as exchange for syncing / push purposes.
can you not just delete the email account you have set up on your phone and type it all in again it should come up with a space where you can pick what you qant your name to come up as when people recieve emails off you and things like that

On Exchange this should be typical. Would be better to use imap.

You could've put hotmail in the title so I would know in advance that I don't care. Not that I didn't love the suspense
This seriously doesn't seem like a big deal, especially since others claim its because you haven't configured it right. None of my contacts (professional or personal) would give a **** if it only showed my email address.

I'd be okay if it showed my email address but it only shows what precedes the @hotmail.com - looks cheap. I've deleted and configured the account multiple times to no avail. Works with the same settings on a variety of phones.. Just a piss off.

Has anyone worked this out?
It's been an issue with Samsung stock email since day 0. Generally I try to use ROMs with AOSP email, but I really like my current ROM except for that!
Hi all,
I have searched for the answer to this problem all over the net and can't seem to find a solution, so please forgive me if it's glaringly obvious.
I have been trying to configure my yahoo mail (.co.uk) account on the inbuilt email app on the brilliant SGS3 but to no avail. The only folders that show are Inbox, Outbox, Sent and Trash. I have added the account and removed it and tried again prior to rooting and done the same following.
I don't have a Yahoo premium account but have managed to add the account to my work phone (the HTC Sensation running ICS) and I can see all the folders perfectly fine.
Can anyone suggest what I may be doing wrong?
I'm running I9300XXLFB
Thanks in advance
Pete

Got Yahoo configured on stock Email app (yahoo.com, stateside). On my SGS3, f you pull down the folders menu and select "Show all folders," it properly shows all my custom folders.
Already tried that only folders that show when I select 'show all folders' are inbox drafts outbox trash. That's all. When I do the same on the HTC sensation I get all folders.
Makes no sense to me.

yahoo mail
you're lucky that you can at least access some folders.
i got my sg3 a few weeks ago and ever since i haven't been able to set-up my yahoo account
i just changed the internet provider, and everything solved. earlier i couldn't access the account at all, but after changing the internet service provider everything is fine
Wow you changed isp to get folders? Seems excessive!
I was just hoping it was a known UK problem or t mobile UK problem.

Hi,
I'm finding a lot of outlook apps but I don't know the difference. and I don't want to download every single one to test it. what app can read/send the outlook mails and can change the agenda?
I think K9 is generally accepted as being pretty awesome but not sure, haven't used it myself for ages.
